The sheer absurdity of a man who was created purely in fiction some how existing and coming to realize that the author of his life is the one making him feel all his pain made me intensely love Toms. Also dog man on the phone was one of the funniest things
I unironically loved Tom's sketch's ending. Mr. Piss returning to the background after he's finished his story, while irl Tom lay dead on the projected wall with a bloodstain is genuinely fantastic.
Honestly, as a media student, I thought Tom’s was brilliant. Perfect fourth wall breaks and a great spoof of the noir genre. The projector and “car” was an amazing idea as well!
It's funny because Tom has a long standing and very public dislike of 'student film' tropes like breaking the fourth wall, author inserts and stuff. He very clearly just said 'fuck it' lol
You may also enjoy Markiplier’s “Wilford ‘Motherloving’ Warfstache” video, it’s quite similar in the spoofing of Noir and an acknowledgement of the characters being fictional (and, weirdly, both have a recurring joke about clowns). They’re both quite good, although the Markiplier vid definitely has the advantage of being created over a longer period than a week
Ironically, I really liked the ending to Tom’s film. You can either take it figuratively to represent a story overtaking it’s creator, or take it literally as some supernatural story about a character coming to life and killing his creator for not giving him an ending.
That’s usually how it goes with these Try Hards episodes. Tom has a high-concept idea that he learns looked better in his head and gives himself a breakdown, Eddie works harder than he probably had to for mixed results, and Eliot slaps something together, and somehow makes a transcendent experience.
Honestly the ending of Tom's where he's real in the room with blood on the wall and the fictional character is walking away in the projection is underrated genius
The usually, Elliott doing something iconic and winning Tom putting too much effort and doing something artistic and actually really good And Eddie.... Eddie being Eddie.
Unironically Tom's ending was so good. That final shot looked awesome and even though it was the product of running out of ideas, it ended up being a good idea.
The end of Tom's film was artistically beautiful, regardless of if it was intentional or not. If you interpret it in an artistic way, it could represent how the stress of creating art figuratively kills the artist, or in the film literally.
Tom's film was my favourite. I know for a while he feels like he's not capable of writing jokes anymore without Eddie's help these days, but that silly short proved he's still very much got it both with the dialogue, the visual gags and how he closed the film out. The boy's still got it!
I was hooked by Elliott's cinematography, the style of Tom's film was delightful, but Eddie? Eddie's silliness made laugh out loud several times, it was sheer fun.
I had the honour of attending this live, and got a nice little brain happy when I saw my face in the background for like 20 frames; this was a great event and I was so happy to meet the boys in person, y'all are great 💖💖
I love that the Elliot is extending the Bananana-man lore. Seeing Eddie & Rik bonding is adorable. Hearing Charlie & Tom laugh over how cute/silly Squidge looked in the shirt was so wholesome 😭💛💛💛
Honestly. As much as Tom's one was made for laughs, I cant get over how well done it is. A recent episode of Inside No.9 couldn't pull of that similar story in half an hour that Tom did in 5 minutes. Plus the ending shot is actually brilliant and cinematic.
I feel like including the c-word in a sponsor sketch was Tom's absolute last resort to try to get fired and now that it failed he has no other options left.
Oh wow, that was nice. Every short film was very unique and it was super fun to watch. Eliot with the modern style horror-comedy interview, it got a nice build up and the surprise from the shed really got me laughing. Tom with the fast comedy old school detective style, it was super funny at how low budget it is, and also very creative. Some of the jokes are unexpected which caught me off guard. It was a really nice short film. And Eddie with a unique idea that I've never seen before, putting yourself in a public domain movie. While completely twist the movie with your own funny jokes and writing. Also Eddie is a comedic genius when it comes to performance. It was really great overall, everyone is the winner in my book. That was really fun, I really hope you guys the best for the future and thank you so, so much for the content. It was amazing
Wait, so if Deborah was Tom's wife, does that mean the man she left him for was Elliot?! But then they broke up so where are Deborah and the kids now? WE NEED ANSWERS TOMSKA!!
I gotta say, I love y'all's work and all three films were pretty brilliant. Elliot's was the best in terms of the craft of film-making; his knew what it wanted to be and delivered. Maybe this came from the fact that he was forced to front-load the planning due to Covid, but I respected the presentation of a well-done piece of horror-comedy nevertheless. Tom's was the best in terms of artistic exploration-and probably my personal favorite of the three (which is saying something since it frankly lost me halfway through before yoink-ing me right back); the way his film embraced the idea of: "I don't know what I want to be, but that's what Imma be" served as a beautiful counterpoint to Elliot's more measured production. The fact that the piece naturally evolves toward a "Protagonist vs. Author" conflict culminating on "It was real to me" and (fmr.) Dt. Piss merging into the projected background was a post-modern masterstroke and something that will stick with me for a while. Eddie's was the most immediately enjoyable, even if I found it to be a bit cringe; it was clear that he decided early on that he was going to place his enjoyment of the production above any consideration of art or craft, and that raw visceral joy made for a lovely popcorn film, even if it was just a little crap (in an endearing way). All in all, I feel as though these productions serve to highlight why you three work well together as a creative conclave; Elliot brings the grounded attention to craft, Tom brings the explorative-neuroticism and artistic-boldness, and Eddie brings the personalizing glee and silly agapic love of creation needed to persist against the erosion of caustic criticism. Or maybe I'm just talkin' nonsense; either way, thoroughly enjoyed the vid.

Eddie's film is very reminiscent of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, taking some old movie that no one has heard of and green screening a new lead to give the film a new comedic edge.
I love this idea so much! It's a hell of a challenge but there's so many ways to do it. Also those surfshark ads are getting wild, and knowing why just makes it so much more funny
Everything about Tom's film is just so amazing to me ! That second clown with a chainsaw mention just killed me x) How meta to actually find a satisfying conclusion.
I really, really love Tom's movie. I'm a sucker for parodies of noir detective stories, absolutely loved the jokes ( in particular bringing up twice the clown with a chainsaw and the Alien dvd as a coaster), and I really liked the ending. "It looks like you're out of ideas" is an amazing final line and, as others said, the shot with the maker on the wall and the character walking away on the projected road is straight-up genius. Excellent episode, you three did all great! Very glad TryHards came back!
You know, from the making process, I wasn't expecting Tom's and Eddie's to be actually real fucking good. Elliot deserved that win though, genuinely suspenseful film and also comedic.
one of my favorite parallels in media is art versus artists. the way tom's film ended in a conflict between the writer and character was amazing to me, as well as that last shot being cool in general.
You can tell how excited rick is when gets to say "mr. PISS" as well as "I'm going to kill you" or whatever the line was, he just goes from reading a line to pure chaotic energy
“It was real to me.” Somehow Tom managed to write a compelling story that was a comedic masterpiece. It begins with its first two acts as the film Tom wanted, this well made noir-like film about Mr. Piss and aliens, but slowly devolved into a cinematic masterpiece. The music is what made it so much better, it adds some layer of epicness to the finale. In other words, Tom’s really blew me away, amazing work!!
The fact that two of them got covid the same week in this video is proof that the pandemic is far from over and you should still be mindful of those taking greater care against covid in public spaces.

Tom, just want to say, your sponsored advertisement segments are so wacky that I don’t actually skip them when I see them like other youtubers, well done, excellent content, I’m very impressed.
I wish I was there for the premiere of these films! Tom’s film (Maker’s End) was my personal favourite, simply because of that ending scene with the detective walking out of frame into the projector whilst Tom lays against the wall with a blood splatter on the wall from the gunshot. This whole video is amazing! 🤩
Honestly if Tom hadnt said that he forgot about the line he chose for them all to include id have assumed he had written the script based on it from the start - the whole idea that the character hes acting is whos come to life and is confronting him got summed up in the exchange "nice face youve got there", "thanks, its yours *raises gun*". The others meanwhile just kind of found a place where anything random being said would work and added it there, but Tom's actually held weight somehow?? And he added it in last minute?!

My post Covid brain when Tom mentioned Joel Haver as inspiration was like: “That’s the guy from the stuff n thing I like… JoEl.” Love his short films and animations especially
This video has become a comfort video of mine almost entirely because of Tom's segments. Hearing him talk about how he overthought everything to the point of creative shutdown really spoke to me. I'm trying to become a game developer and I experience the same exact thing frequently. It's the reason I haven't actually made a single game yet. Coming back to this video every time I get stuck in a rut has really helped me stay (more) productive.
Just wanted to say, I keep coming back to this SurfShark ad. It’s unironically my favorite SurfShark ad of Tom’s, probably because I used to watch a lot of slam poetry.
Tom's short film was awesome!! Always a sucker for good noir stuff, and mix Tom's sense of humor/personality into the mix and you've almost certainly got something great.
Legitimately, the Detective saying "it was real to me" and then walking away into the projector screen was one of the coolest things i've ever seen.
Literally perfect.

My post Covid brain when Tom mentioned Joel Haver as inspiration was like:
“That’s the guy from the stuff n thing I like… JoEl.”
Love his short films and animations especially
Ive been binge watching way too many Tomska & friends videos and Ive gotta say, this is by far my favoirite one.
Ok that ad bit was actually insanely good
Love that TryHards is back- really great start to the series!
Hi Tom the slam poem was my favorite SurfShark ad yet
Never did I think I'd watch a UA-cam video with "Additional clips for the space sex scene" in the description credits
I love the pure chaos that is Eddie. He's that guy who just ran out of fucks to give, ten years ago, and somehow pulls it off.
I absolutely cannot get over the ending of Tom's film. It's fucking brilliant.
Love to see Elliot channeling his inner Steve Harrington.
Also always appreciate a James Acaster reference.
the last shot of Tom's film where Mr. Piss walks out in the projection is really cool! :D
Therapist: shaved Tom isn’t real he can’t hurt you
Shaved Tom: are you sure about that?
Your therapist will have a really fun time when you see the time he turned himself into an egg!
@@gamegenie4617 For some reason this particular time is super cursed and I don't know why, even worse than when he was an egg.
Thats a fresh meme
Just wanted to say, I keep coming back to this SurfShark ad. It’s unironically my favorite SurfShark ad of Tom’s, probably because I used to watch a lot of slam poetry.
Damn, that sponsorship is making me rethink my past decisions.
About not getting surfshark.
They are so underrated. SO talented and the way they present sponsors actually makes me want to watch it to see what they came up with
this spoken word ad was phenomenal. All 3 of you are so damn talented seriously.
Tom's short film was awesome!! Always a sucker for good noir stuff, and mix Tom's sense of humor/personality into the mix and you've almost certainly got something great.
Wow!! Elliot!!! Man, that was fcking cool!!!! You are, and will always be my favorite content creator, mate!!!
Can we appreciate both the effort put into the films themselves, and the fact they put music and film credits in the description? I think that's cool
