I love how real, authentic, transparent, and inclusive you are. It’s so refreshing! Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a counselor/health educator in higher ed and am finishing my masters in the mental health counseling specialty. I love working with my students but grad school has been a long and rough process for me. Balancing everything is hard. It was very meaningful to be reminded that this is not a unique experience, and it occurs across specialties too.
I am so glad you made this video. I am so tired of untrained people providing skincare advice on social media. As an esthetician, I always refer clients to dermatologists for expert advice. It is scary to see what people are doing and advising. Now people can understand how trained you are. Thanks again!
Not a dermatologist, linguistics major here. I just wanted to say that I love your content! You’re not just a derm that recommends basic brands, but you try other products and give your honest opinion.
I spent eight years in the Army after High School. I got an associates while I served. When I got out I went back to school for nursing so I could work as a nurse while going to medical school. I experienced a divorce and homelessness. And issues with not always seeing my kids. I was doing all that while going to school and was so unhappy I dropped out. And the pandemic. I’m very smart. But I didn’t have any mental health support. You’re video has inspired me to go back to school. And while I do I will be more social and form relationships with people. I need to realize that everyone else is stressed too. And we can help each-other out through it. It is hard when you feel all alone and that everything is against you.
Two minutes in your video and I’m already impressed on the things you’re talking about! I am a licensed manicurist & esthetician, so I’m currently in school working hard to get to your level.
I’ve been following your TikTok for a few months and just found your UA-cam page, as someone entering med school fall 2021 with dreams of being a dermatologist you’ve been such a great resource. Can’t wait to keep following all of your pages 🥰
This was a great video that not just few dermatologists explain how they got where they are today, but few accredited professionals give such a breakdown.
Thank you for making this video, I’m 16 and researching dermatology for one of my medical electives at my high school and I have been interested in the field for two years now. I really hope that with hard work I can become a dermatologist some day :)
My brains gonna explode. I’m really determined to become one, but all I could do right now is educate myself of how to become one and to get good grades. I’m 14 so a lot of this stuff is brand new to me.
Dont ever ever ever tell yourself you can’t do it. Be willing to see if you feel passionate about something else, but if this is where you feel like you will make the most positive impact in the world go for it. And find people who believe in you. I’m in med school right now wanting to be a derm and you would not believe the amount of people who say “you know derm is like...the most competitive speciality??” It’s frustrating, but at the end of the day, the best we can do is go for it. And if it’s what’s meant to be it will be. I believe in you!
@@user10238 it can definitely be intimidating. But try to be present in each stage of getting there. Right now, enjoy high school as much as possible, find the subjects you really like and what not. In college, you’ll have to probably make a few sacrifices because the pre Med requirements are hard, but I played sports, I hung out with friends all the time, I took trips during breaks, like college was still so fun even though it was hard work wanting to go to Med school. And now Med school is the same thing. It’s hard, but it’s exciting. And your path might change along the way and that’s ok too there’s no shame in that. But anything you want to achieve comes with some amount of fear of failure. Every dermatologist in the world probably felt that same feeling countless times. Be present, and enjoy the stage of life you’re in. And really believe that you can do it if it’s what you truly want!
