Hi everyone, I am a medical student with an interest in dermatology. I have struggled immensely in the past with acne and sensitive skin and feel that helping others with skin conditions would be a rewarding career. I have a question for you- Would you trust someone as your dermatologist who has visible acne scarring and redness? Would you trust someone to guide you through your skin condition without having perfect skin themselves?
to be honest, I would because not all of us are perfect and some things are out of our control. to attain the title of a dermatologist, you need to go through vigorous training so I'm sure they are trust-worthy.
I would trust them , I’ve actually seen a dermatologist that had skin conditions like acne , rashes, and like sensitive skin, and she was great in a passion where she told me how much she enjoyed her job cause she’s been suffering for more than 9 years with skin condition, I know a lot of people would probably be like no because she’s been through it and all but to be honest everyone goes thru a point of life where we all just you know have to go through puberty and more , not everyone is perfect in a way where skin is involved and more , yes it can be irritating to be going through these things but everyone goes through the same steps .

In Germany it's not necessarily because there are too many applicants but because there are not many hospitals that have open spots for residents (only bigger hospitals or university hospitals). I think the fast paced nature of dermatology clinics can sometimes give the speciality a bad reputation with patients combined with the fact a lot of derm conditions are chronic or recurring patients end up feeling unheard.

Because many people living there have many skin problems due to radiations and climatic condition as well as people likely do plastic surgery ..botox ...jobs ...ie kim k ..as an example
I'm a medical student in Germany who had lots of internships in dermatology and it's a competitive field here too. In Germany it's not necessarily because there are too many applicants but because there are not many hospitals that have open spots for residents (only bigger hospitals or university hospitals). I don't know if it's as competitive as in the US though.

You are stupid
I think the fast paced nature of dermatology clinics can sometimes give the speciality a bad reputation with patients combined with the fact a lot of derm conditions are chronic or recurring patients end up feeling unheard.
Can you do one on physician scientists?
yes!
