    kool bird,, whats with that auto pilot and audio units ? how come its not a gfc700?

      Because it’s either a E1000 prototype or early serial number E1000. The E1000GX which was certified 8 months later got the GFC APU. E1000 had an old STEC unit

    Great video that showcases how the Epic 1000 GX can mix it up with ORD's jet traffic with aplomb! It thrilled me to hear those, "maintain 250 kts...slow to 210." Sounds a lot like true jet performance.

      PC12NGX beats it in nearly every way except cruise speed & ROC. Of course it’s a bit more $$ and much higher payload & range thus arguably not the same class.
      Among its contemporaries, TBM960 offers full fadec, lower operational costs, longer range, well established airframe durability and safety plus more advanced, easier to operate G3000 flight deck w/autoland.
      Epic had opportunity to go full fadec on GX update as P&W offered the updated -67X used in PC12NGX, Epic chose to retain the old engine w/much higher operating costs and no fadec. While I assume it was a choice due to costs and certification delays, it was imo a very unwise decision that sits poorly in marketplace against the 960.
      E1000GX is still a terrific performing aircraft, vastly superior to the M600 but as a midsize SETP customer, we’re comparing TBM960, PC12NGX and Denali unless the Epic updates the E1000 platform to full fadec.

    Fabulous aircraft with performance to match. Granted you obviously have many hours in complex aircraft and airspace, that was still a somewhat stressful arrival (a Chicago Hallmark) for single-pilot operations. This only goes to showcase the phenomenal advances harnessed by this single certification. I think there are going to be a lot of heavy commercial jet jockeys doing double-takes. EPIC Indeed!!!

    Great video, even better plane! More videos, Mr. King, there aren't nearly enough good Epic videos available. Get after some of the new E1000 owners and make them post some videos of their aircraft. Tell them it's a new FAA req. HAHA.

    1500mi in a single engine turboprop is amazing. I first saw the mockup of this bird in Oshkosh around 2015-hopefully have one some day. Looks like this flight occurred in late winter/early spring. What kind of tailwind did you have at 330?

      Yes, that aircraft is likely one of the early prototype E1000’s used for certification or one of 1st off production line. The updated E1000GX was certified about 8 months after E1000 and replaced the old STEC unit with a Garmin GFC digital APU and 5-blade Hartzell
