LEFT TO ROT IN HER BED - THE TRAGIC CASE OF KAYLEA TITFORD

  • In October 2020, a 16-year-old disabled girl was found dead at her home in Powis
, Wales. The smell of human waste and rotting flesh in her bedroom made even the most hardened of emergency responders physically sick, whilst the police investigation revealed she had suffered 6 months of appalling neglect at the hands of her own parents. This is what happens when Covid lockdown causes the most vulnerable in our society to be forgotten. This is the killing of Kaylea Titford.

I literally had to caregiver full time for my great grandmother at 23. I changed her, bathed her, cleaned her bedsores, did her laundry and bedding etc. tireless of hours on the phone with her care team, and literally had mental break downs over and over but it was worth it, because that’s what you do when you LOVE someone. i cannot believe they could literally do that to their daughter. as a caregiver, i am in shock.

If you cannot or do not want to look after a vulnerable person, give them into the care of people who will.

That was so beautifully said and so true. You should be a writer.
For those of us that believe in heaven, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the moment her last breath left her body, angels carried her to heaven. There, she was instantly given a new body. She can walk and run and play. Not even a scar remains. No memory of what she endured remains. She is free. All tears were wiped from her eyes and she was 100% healed. She walks on streets of purest gold and oh the sights she beholds. I can only imagine.

There had been three cases in the men's ward room down the corridor, so now that was causing issues. I get so, so anxious in hospital, especially the one in this account because I've had so much mistreatment, misdiagnoses, and called a liar despite evidence in scans proving the condition/injury exists. However, despite my anxiety, the older lady needed comfort, not told off or to "be quiet" when they wouldn't even give her something to sedate her. A situation similar to this ended my career as a paramedic about 26 years ago. Long story short, we went into a call where the disabled person was severely neglected like Kaylea. I freaking lost my shit and punched the mother straight in the face. I was charged with assault but it was dropped by the DA after it went to court and everyone realized the circumstances. Basically they said that it was understandable that I temporarily lost it. Incidentally, the parents were charged with and convicted of several counts of neglect and abuse. They received 10-15 years.
I later went on to become a nurse to help people BEFORE their situations turned into this.
There are NO excuses for a HUMAN BEING to be treated this way. NONE.

Being abused is awful and what these parents did was awful but they didn’t force her to overeat. Can’t blame weight gain on others unless they literally forced her to eat. Now if she had a thyroid issue or diabetes and they ONLY kept fatty sugary foods for her to eat in the house that’s different and if they were not giving her meds for thyroid or diabetes then yes that is their fault. But if a parent has healthy food and some sweets in the house and a child either eats nothing but junk or overeats that is not on the parents. I’m not saying they were not abusive neglectful pos but you can’t blame parents for children being obese bc of their actions. Only if it’s a medical issue or they are literally forcing her to eat. Now you can blame them for not engaging with their child or playing with them or getting them medical health weather it was for being obese or mental health.

    • @StewIsRat
      @StewIsRat Рік тому +24

@@andreadamore5680 I think your comment is INCREDIBLY ignorant. In a world where every parent made healthy foods in a stable environment then no child would be obese. While I can't speak for Kaylee's parents, mine were poor. Our food options were usually fast food, soup, or frozen dinners, so of course I ate unhealthy options because there are only so many days a month one can eat soup and not be sick of it. We didn't have money to go places, or for clothes for that matter, so we usually all stayed home and sat around the TV for hours on end. My school never had recess, and I was already overweight by the time I went to PE. When my Dad got a better job and we had more money, then we bought more technology, and all kinds of junk food we had never gotten to eat. I got depressed and eating was a comfort, so when I got my first job I spiralled for a while. I was never taught about "healthy" foods. I was never taught about portion control. I was always told that you eat what you are given because you might not have any tomorrow.
It has NOTHING to do with someone force feeding you. It has everything to do with emotional connections that children form around food. Instead of treating it as fuel for your body, if you are actively taught unhealthy habits, you are already at a disadvantage. We had no money in the budget for doctors or fresh food.
No child should be overweight unless they have a medical condition. My neglectful parents, who could not adequately support me, and who chose (despite knowing better) to feed me fast food and frozen dinners for every meal as a kid are the reason I was overweight. Children who have never been taught about food or fitness should not be the ones blamed for their weight. That is solely the parents fault.
And to add, they bought her food 4-5 times A DAY! No adult would think this is anywhere in the realm of being healthy. If she couldn't get out of bed, who was bringing the food to her? Her parents!! They abused and neglected her and let her get to a weight where she died in her own bed! "No one forced her to eat" is such a bullshit line of thinking. Would you tell someone who is anorexic to "just eat something, it's not hard"? No, you wouldn't. It's wrong. It was never Kaylea's fault. Don't blame the victim.

@@andreadamore5680 Did you even watch the video? They served her nothing but takeaway, and they stripped her of any opportunity she had to safely exercise given her disabilities. They did this to her. Their abuse and neglect was absolutely the main reason for her overeating, if she even was overeating. It’s entirely possible she was eating a normal daily value but she was unable to get out of bed due to them withholding care. Adults have the choice to fix their mental issues and make better dietary choices, children, ESPECIALLY special needs children, are entirely at the will of their own parents. An obese child (save for those with very rare medical conditions) is entirely the product of the parent’s failure to provide adequate care.

Such a sweet, charming individual. Every time I said "hi" to her at busy times at school, she had such a contagious charm. She had such a lovely smile that it illuminated the area around the room. I still recall how awful it was when our class received the heartbreaking news of Kaylea's passing. We had a difficult day in school when we learned that one of our classmates had passed away. It's incomprehensible that her own parents would treat her so poorly. Every child needs to have parents who are kind, supportive, and considerate, but some parents are not suitable or deserving of having children of their own. I genuinely wished we became better of friends in school. I really hope Kaylea is finding peace in heaven right now as we speak. 🤍🤍🤍

My younger sister Sara was in an accident when she was one and a half. She fell in our pool and she was clinically dead for probably over 30 minutes. She survived but she has severe cerebral palsy. My sisters, my mother, my father and I never once let her down. She was always clean and she never had bed sores and she's now 35 and my youngest sister, Anna, is her primary caregiver. Anna also has a young son and fortunately, has the help of my mother and stepfather. Even when my father had cancer and was dying he never abandoned my sister Sara. I cannot fathom how somebody could allow this to happen to a brilliant and beautiful young woman. I understand the stresses of caring for somebody who literally cannot care for themselves. There's absolutely no excuse for the way that Kaylee was treated. I cannot believe that her parents got less than 10 years each. I know that in the UK they try to rehabilitate those who end up in the prison system, but seven and six years?! WTF! I have so many things that I want to say but I can't put them into words. She was guided there by angels to her everlasting home, where she was immediately able to walk and run and play. She is a normal weight and all of her health problems are no more. Not even the scars remain. Not even a memory of what she endured remains. She walks on streets of purest gold and is held each day by Jesus Christ Himself. She walks with Him and she talks with Him, and He tells her that she is His own. And the joy they share as they tarry there, none other has ever known.
There, she is loved beyond measure. There, all tears are wiped from her eyes. There, she has a brand new body.

This reminds me of a story from the US about an autistic woman who sat on the couch and never got up. She lived with her parents, and they let her stay on couch for twelve years. She was fused to it and weighed ninety-six pounds. Her name was Lacey Fletcher. The coroner cried for a week after seeing the crime scene.

I felt so so claustrophobic even just listening to what kayleigh was put through, the mental trauma she suffered in her life, especially the months leading up to her death, poor girl, why didn't they get her a carer? My heart is broken for her, this was a tough listen. I'm sorry you didn't have the parents you deserved. The texts, omg, I just wish she phoned 999. What I wonder is what was their end game? Surely they knew they could not go on like that forever, surely anyone with half a brain cell would realise that she would get sick and die, what were they actually expecting?

They deserve a life sentence for taking her life. She deserves justice. There definitely needs to be more media attention (that doesn’t blame the victims) about how many people die at the hands of there carers and it goes without proper justice. There have been so many disabled people killed by those who are supposed to care for them. I have no sympathy for the parents in this case they had so many chances to get help to care for her or even if they would not take care of her to tell someone they couldn’t look after her and have her taken away at least then she would’ve gotten the help and care she deserved.

Now this is nothing like what Kaylea was put through since the woman decided this on her own, but I can just imagine the pain Kaylea was in especially the emotional damage of thinking "My parents don't care about me, I'm going to die alone. What did I do to deserve this?"

That being said the government, local law enforcement etc failed these men, women and children long before COVID was a thing.

I loved him more than life itself. He had cerebral palsy and short gut so he was like a 6 month old but he was pure love and he loved everyone who came into contact with him and you couldn't help but to love him back. A lot of people were nervous to hold him or interact with him until he looked in their face with pure love. We lost him when he was 3 from liver cancer. We had no clue he was sick because he was his happy self except when he was on the bus to day care he would scream. When we took him to the doctor they found the cancer and it was too far and they could only keep him comfortable we only had him for like 2 to 2 and a half months and it was the worst time in my life so when I see people who abuse children and especially special needs children I just want to hurt them after I have cried uncontrollably until I pull myself together. That picture of her and her mum, the selfie, she's smiling and looking happy not realising what a wicked mother she has. Breaks me.
