    I couldn’t agree more. As a do it all GPR style rifle my 12.5 is my 0-500 setup with an ATACR. Anything further I want a bigger gun. Mainly for wind resistance. I have an spr that I built out of a 16inch AR and that gun will do 700 all day. Wind is a different beast!

    Never considered taking my 12.5 beyond 200 yards before seeing your videos. Took mine out to 400 and was amazed how capable the gun was at distance, might slap an atlas on it now. My 1-4 elcan bdc was good enough to get me on a full size ipsc with 55gr.

    Great video. Looks like a good match and STC is an awesome place.
    For this type of stuff I’d recommending ditching barricade stops/fore grips when running bipods and using bags for barricades. Using the bag length ways allows more surface contact and will aid in stabilizing the gun better.

    Looks cool. I do wonder why you don't just hold over instead of dialing? I could see quickly dialing on scope with a zero stop. With an LPVO, it seems like that's a recipe to mess yourself up as the day gets long.

  • @Clockwork0nions
    @Clockwork0nions Рік тому +2

    this just solidifies in my mind the need for a BDC reticle for those ranges, or learning the holdovers better. Not sure where the zero for that rifle was but having to dial for 300 yards, what?

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  Рік тому +3

      Some these are 6inch plates at odd distance, it’s not 300 on the dot. It could be 315 or 364. Dialing allows us to be as precise as possible. But like I said at the end being your bdc to the next one and test it, push it, find where it works well and where it doesn’t. On some of the stages where we can’t dial it could be really handy

    Honest question: why are you dialing DOPE? That reticle is gucci for holdovers. With my 18" I'm out to 900y within 10 mils. (700y is my self imposed limit tho lol) Is it because of the 12.5'' bbl?

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  Рік тому +2

      I’ve found dialing to be more precise, especially on the smaller targets at further distances then I’m just holding wind instead of holding both. If I had no time I would hold both. Or some stages don’t allow you to dial. I use to be hold only but I’ve found it’s important be good at both.

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  Рік тому

      It’s all a balance of speed and accuracy. Dialing isn’t complicated. Dialing allows for more precise shots on smaller targets like 1.5 moa at 600. Holding on ipsc size is faster for sure. Situation dictates.

    Something else to consider it may not have been you a 12.5 barrel is not really comparable to a 20 18 or even a 16 inch barrel especially when velocity is one of the key players with the 5.56 also not sure if you could run your own ammo or if they gave you ammo but the ADI F1SS109 62 grain is even better than alot of the 223 match ammo but it needs to be in the bubble pack version of ammo great job tho at least you are out putting your skills to the test!!!!

      @@jimmybrodriguez I mean not really impressed at all, you're making excuses for poor performance for like half the stages that arent pistol stages.
      I don't think you're a bad shooter at all, just falling victim to trends (see: cheek riser and tall mounted LPVO)

      Im not here to impress anyone just to test gear and learn. I would’ve still made the same misses with an 18” barrel. Longer barrel doesn’t compensate for incorrect wind calls and dialing wrong dope.
