Dude… getting Keltner on for this long is worth WAY more than fancy edits. This is a priceless interview. Rad guests>format. Loved this!
❤ yes ❤
This man is 81 years old, if I even get to that age, being that sprightly and eloquent would be amazing. To still have that much hair… who am I kidding, I have less now!
But he’s played with almost everyone I listen to and it’s great to listen to him talk - thank you guys!
This shook me too. I was thinking about the artists he has been working with, and I'm like... was this dude 12 at time? Nah, just completely ageless.
15:14 Keltner is so locked in he puts his coffee down perfectly in time ⌚
If I didn't know before that you can be humbled by someone being humble, I know it now.
The jam with McCartney was captured on a bootleg called A Toot and a Snore in 1974. He forgot to mention the other players in the jam: John Lennon and Stevie Wonder.
Jim Keltner, the legend!
Superb! “I wasn’t intimidated by Fagen…yet!” 😂
Geez, Snakey Jim looks outstanding for a gentleman in his 80s. Talk about some black magic sorcery. I'm stoked you guys interviewed him. He doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he's due.
My god. Genius calibre right here. Thanks for this interview, guys.
Wow jim has just about the best mindset for a musician, nothing but passion and respect for his fellow musicians, such a humble guy
This is so inspiring .Thank you Jim ,Ben .Ryan. Jim is so humble. He has the best attitude ive seen from any pro musician of his level, Always learning. He is one of my favourite drummers and musicians. What a pleassure.

worst cut off of an interesting conversation
Great interview! I had the pleasure of playing on a session with Jim with Steve Porcaro last year. A bucket list for me.
Love how the snare hits on the last word of each line on the Oberst track. So simple but effective.
What an inspirational man! Iconic in every sense of the word.
Just beautiful. ❤
Love it! Keep on doing what you’re doing!!
Wow, so great to hear Jim Keltner talk about music like this -- well done, guys!
Excellent subject guys! Keltner is so important to our music history!
Thanks for this guys! One of my all time favourite drummers. A true legend and so humble.
Great show guys!! What a cool guy and so humble.
The coaches headsets are a nice touch. Really enjoyed the content. Drummers always have great stories.
Brilliant stuff thank you!
That hat on the Ziggy song sounds so cool. Almost sounds like a delay on it
goddamn he is cool...
great interview guys so keen for more!
Thanks for your wonderful interviews, discussions, new knowledges and bands. Its hard to underestimate. And its extremely motivative for me for new compositions and recordings!
As I unwrapped my favourite new albums, I kept seeing his name. Like, for years.
This was fantastic guys. Keep up the good work and thanks for doing it
Sang along with Gary Lewis & the Playboys, and many others mentioned here, as a kid listening to the radio. Later, while playing in bands, I started paying attention to the individual musicians who made the magic. The name Jim Keltner was everywhere.
It’s great to hear his thoughts on it all!
Fascinating video! Thanks!
Just to add to the Ringo snare story; he bought the drum kit from Ivor Arbiter , the man who created the Fuzz Face !
Incredible interview. Great job! I loved the in-depth musical takes, and the great stories! Who hasn't been a big fan of Jim Kelltner? this added a whole new element.
Loved this! How cool is Jim Keltner!
Pretty freaking cool.
Dance with Me..... you called a good one there. I always wondered about the backbeat placement. Props to Ryan, you're really dialed in...
This show is a treasure
This was a treat! Thank you so much!
Legendary!! Right on yal
You guys do pay attention to the whole thing. It's awesomely refreshing.
Two favorite (but maybe not as famous) Keltner tracks: "Memphis in the Meantime" John Hiatt; "Which Way Steinway" AJ Croce
Legend!!👊🏽🥂
Great just great episode!
What a great talk !
Love Jim...
Jim’s playing on Frisell’s “Gone just like a train” is fabulous
Lovely guy.
Legend.
legend
Jim is truly the best. And Jealous Guy is probably my favorite Lennon song.
My favorite drummer.
Not understanding the hate on this format lol. This video is great, it’s enough just to be able to listen to someone as great as this
Thank you.
I could watch an eight hour version of this conversation
wicked mon
Jim Keltner wow
It's a Little Village, Mon!!!🤩😎
Endless love for Jim Keltner. I don’t pray while I’m playing, I’m thinking what would Jim do, and more importantly what wouldn’t Jim do.
Thanks for this! Fastest 40 minutes ever.
This is great.
I don’t see what people are complaining about. The old format was overkill for interviews, I think most people just listen to it anyway
I hope he comes back for part#2
He did record with Paul! Concert for George - Something...
It would be nice if a Spotify playlist with songs mentioned is included with each episode
GREAT episode. maybe this is the formula to go with from now on? This is just so dense with amazing info. So educational with just a few stories. I love when a musician can be honest and say, “yeah, I love what I played here”.
Having Keltner on is a real testament to how great your musical depth is. I wish you would have had a chance to get into his work with Little Village or Bill Frisell. That is his best drumming IMO.
That Ziggy album is absurdly good!
Nice. I wish you asked him if there are any new albums he’s listening to!
steve jordan would be incredible on this, lofty guest tho
"I pray before I play" ...how do you top that? ...I stretch...I practice?
It’s wild Jim didn’t know the basic reggae beat but was able to nail the feel just after learning it.
I’m not even sure it’s learning… I think the best drummers just absorb a beat and are able to produce it with their body.
This is sick but also….. hey Ryan, what guitar hanger are you using there?
Can’t convince me this dude is 80
Awwwwweeseommmeeeeeee.......
I'd read that Ringo got the calf heads just prior to Abbey Road.
Holy CRap the Keltner
"Sue me, Sue you Blues" by George Harrison. Listen to Jim Keltner's playing on that track !
Love the Conor Oberst praise
Just started watching. Y'all better talk about his Leon Russell and Joe Cocker days.
Well, Leon got briefly mentioned. But no pop up. 😢
Legend but a pity no Ry Cooder was included
love the stuff he did with Conor Oberst
We need a steely Dan episode
was there a click? " oh no.. my god.."
If Delaney hadn't fired Keltner, he might have been on Layla and All Things Must Pass. What if?
Serious question- does keltner have an issue with his eyes?
:)
Hey guys I love what you're doing here but those headset mics sound like ass.
Get Conor on. Time to talk the seminal album of a whole generation. I'm Wide awake....
wow somebody finally puts a headset on a podcast. after 15 years of my badgering. for every Momo sitting on a couch with an SM58. or all of those slobbing an SM7B
I gotta say you guys, I'm not feeling this new format. It feels very "slapped together" whereas the previous incarnation felt very prepared and professional (hence the name Professional Musicians React, lol!). I don't like the helicopter headsets, the lack of production design and camera work is disappointing, etc. The presentation just feels like kind of an afterthought, which is a little bit of a bummer. I'm sure it keeps costs down and allows you to focus more effort on getting the talent in to converse with you, but these last few videos are just kinda hard to watch and listen to honestly. Just trying to give you a comment card, so to speak. But I really do love the channel and what you guys do, just wish is was still as professional looking and sounding as it once was 😔
I’m with you on that. But if this is the only thing we can get… then I’m also for that as well.
@@stratman3771 for sure
I agree but these dudes are basically doing this for love of musix. Great intervirw
@@FedePetro yeah, and honestly if it started out like that and was always kinda low-fi, I might not care as much. But I got kinda spoiled with how nice everything used to be presented.
@dead wax don’t change a thing! 😇
Authenticity > production value
I wish you guys would get rid of the headsets and go back to the mics you used before
