I've watched close to 10 Lionel Catalog 2024 reviews on UA-cam. I really like how you point out the details, unique points, and paint schemes in this review. As you continue to grow your channel this will make you unique and stand out from the rest of the pack. I especially liked your point about the smoke units on the Southern Pacific E6 units...want to go halves? lol
    Great job!

Thank you! I try to do things differently if I can. Anyone can just go through the catalog and do a simple overview. I enjoy finding the little details that maybe someone newer to the hobby would not notice so they can make an educated purchase decision. Thank you for watching and for the comment!

Thank you. Im definitely looking forward to getting ahold of the H7, lol. The PE stuff will hopefully be something my boys enjoy for many years and for my father as long as time will allow. Thanks for checking out the review!

Another thing with this Lionel set is that I hope the observation car has some kind of lighting on the rear like the old one . That’s why I am spending the extra $ on them .

I plan on getting 765 and the polar express doing the same thing you building my own set .

I think a lot of truest that don’t have any scale polar express stuff with do what I’m doing and build a set. If people have a polar express set I think the 20th Ann sets will be how they go. Keep in mind, I’m sure Lionel will do a 25th anniversary scale set.

@@GoldStandardTrains I was thinking the same thing about the 25th Polar Express Anniversary set. I feel like a 25th anniversary is more special than a 20th IMO. I don't have a scale Polar Express set. Do you think it is worth waiting for the 25th anniversary set or get the 20th anniversary set? I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the maroon engine, it's cool for those that like it, but not 100% sure it's my thing. Curious on your thoughts.

The red engine doesn’t do it for me. I would say you could always just get the 20th anniversary passenger car and add it to the regular set you build. Then see what happens in 5 years from now? It’s always preference with these things. Im sure Lionel will do a 25th anniversary set. It’s also if you want to wait or have something now. My father is getting older so I can’t wait if he wants a polar express set, kinda have to do it now.

I gotta admit that full bodied streamlined locomotives scare me. I'm pretty sure it comes from that old cartoon from like the 1930s about safety where there was two streamlined steam engines that had faces going right at each other. Pretty sure that's what got me freaked out so I don't think streamline steam looks good. It looks really ugly. It's not beautiful. And yeah not for me.
I will admit that's kind of funny how your collection is pretty much all steam, no diesels and then my collection is all diesels and I don't have a single steam engine in O gauge save for the Thomas the tank engine set I got for Christmas at 7 years old. I think that would have been 2002. I won't count that though.
For the last 10 years of being in the hobby, I've only had a Legacy Amtrak F40 and 2 SP conventional diesels. Basically a severe lack of power.
Fast forward until last year and I end up acquiring two modern legacy. ES44 ACs. Two more Amtrak F40 pHs and now I have six Rio Grande EMDs on order. Three of them being the SD45 from this catalog and three of them being the SD50s from last catalog.
And the matter of maybe 2 years I've gone from a severe power shortage to what's soon to be an abundance of power.

sounds like you need more steam!! In regards to streamline steam engines, I was sorta not into them. Recently I got 2 streamlined Hudsons and I actually have really enjoyed them. I do still prefer more of a stereotypical look, but having some variety is nice.

@@GoldStandardTrains I suppose they consider the SP Daylight as semi streamlined. UP 844. Those are bangers. I got a fleet of 6 axles heavyweights SP passenger cars. I've been waiting to find an Daylight that I like. I'm thinking though with the DRGW purchasing the SP... Maybe my soon to be H7 will just pull that train
