Long live the Wild Mary! My great grandfather was an engineer for the WM during the steam era. That red white and black paint scheme (known unofficially as the "circus scheme") was their last before they were fully absorbed into the Chessie System. The other engine has the "speed letter" scheme. They were probably most famous for their "fireball" scheme during the 40s and 50s.
I might not be an O scale railroader, but O gauge will always have a place in my heart as I do need this gauge to act as a narrow gauge for my Talyllin locomotives. Still, I love what Lionel does with many of their o scale offerings. Very fun and cute little novel items that bring nostalgia to even those not into o scale. 😊
Lionel used to make trains in Hagerstown MD right by my grandmother's house on the north end of town. I have a steam loco with the Hagerstown Lionel tag underneath
I live in Hagerstown and collect Western Maryland O gauge trains. Love this set but im not sure i can justify spending that much on a set. I have more of a starter set budget. 😊 Thanks for the video.
Didn’t realize Eric lived so close to me lol. I’m in Marietta and he’s Woodstock GA crazy to think I’ve been subbed this long and never actually knew that
This is a beautiful set. I like that they have both paint schemes represented in the locos. I would like to see additional A/B units available in these schemes, so you could run them separately. I love the rolling stock in this set. They all look sharp.
And so it begins..... a flat car and trailer here. A Lionel Play World flat car there, that you got a few days ago, and another flat car with trailer, and before you know it, you will be collecting trailers, now you'll have to put in a Mi-Jack to use in your yard, to handle all the trailer traffic that you will be getting. . Maybe your next special run, you could offer a trailer and flat car, along with that, maybe a box car to go along with the engine that you'll be offering An awesome unboxing video. Thank you, Happy Holidays to you and Lisa.
As always, I am enjoying your holiday videos. I appreciate your reviews and your honesty. Above all, you always look for the positive in all your videos. If you have criticisms, you are constructive about. Sometimes the positive outlook on the hobby gets missed. Thank you for that.
Hi Eric, I preordered this set from England, it recently arrived and yeah that 100T hopper shocked me too- it’s gorgeous. I just couldn’t figure out the trailer extra piece so thanks for that. This was my first set I ever ordered rom Lionel, I’m thrilled with it. I have an earlier FA2 AA set They did for NYC and it has different horns modelled. Cool that they got the unique (I believe) WM ones right.
These have been some really cool sets from Lionel recently. I really think they are hitting their stride in the hobby right now. The Western Maryland area is were I spent my summers growing up. The sand patch, the coal division, and even down into Martinsburg, WV. I think I'll have to pick up this set soon, It would be a nice reminder of those times. I know that personally I have never been more interested in what Lionel has to offer than these past 2 or 3 years. Ever since their big anniversary catalog. So much stuff I wanna buy and unfortunately I'm lagging behind all the sets I want
I like those on board camera shots as well, that's pretty cool 😎😎 You get to see your layout from the camera's view & it went through the tunnel as well, that was cool 😎😎
Very beautiful set. I love how the A units don't match color wise, gives nice contrast, and uniquidy. That car with trailer is very cool as well. Great video Eric!
Thanks for the review Eric! I'm a long time Western Maryland fan, but unfortunately do to a relocation was unable to purchase this set. Maybe one day. And it looks great on your layout!
It’s wild seeing these trains run at such a fast pace. Looks so crazy lol. Would it be possible to mount that rooftop camera inside a passenger car?, maybe looking out the back of an observation car? Or even out a side window? Would be a cool perspective, if it’s possible.
Very nice Eric, I have an N&W coal hopper that is like your Western Maryland hopper, it has some weight to it as well & yes the coal load comes out as well, so yeah it's pretty cool 😎😎
Eric the set looks great i feel like it represents freight in the early to late 70. You know whats really unrepresented on your layout as in you have none is maine Central.
The guys at LIONEL can make the Pullman-Standard 60' box car for a set in only one paint scheme at a time. They could have been gradually producing and releasing them over the past 10 years. There are still more real railroad numbers and schemes to produce. Still waiting for them to make Chicago & North Western 60' boxcars 20 years later.
This is such a cool set I saw it in Gryzboski’s the other day and I almost pulled the trigger but I stopped myself lol. Gotta save up for those incoming preorders 😂
It's definitely a cool setup sir. You know the trailer train car would be a cool car to do next Eric's train (AW) in. To have a flat car and semi trailer in your railroad. That would be cool
Beautiful set, I wonder what happened to the MTH Premier WM M2 Challenger tooling whether they still own it or sold it off to Lionel. That's one of my bucket list engine's to get.
They put out two catalogs per year. The 2024 volume 1 catalog is about to come out in January. Once it’s out you can pre-order whatever you want through a Lionel dealer like Legacy Station. You usually get a discount for pre-ordering.
Hey Eric do you have any great northern locomotive? I recommend getting a sdp40 #325 which still exists and is run by the Minnesota transportation museum Jackson street roundhouse in st paul Minnesota
Lionel get's the sound right on their Steam Locomotives but is always lacking on their diesel sounds for the prime movers. Sound garbled and generic. That is not the sound of a 244 block... On the other hand, MTH's steam locomotives lack on the higher quality sounds of the steam locomotives but get's it right on the sound of the diesel's prime movers.

One of my closest friends is a former WM employee. I'm honored to know him.
Finally! Diehard WM guy, this is the first thing I ever preordered from Lionel and have been very impressed with the set!
Love the two different WM paint schemes on these FAs really cool set!
Horn 4 and bell 5 gang rise up!
Lionel used to make trains in Hagerstown MD right by my grandmother's house on the north end of town. I have a steam loco with the Hagerstown Lionel tag underneath
i have one also i have 2 but one with Hagerstown md tag lionel was only here for one year in hagerstown md
Really cool set. It's pretty neat that the A-A FAs aren't the same livery
The WM only had 4 FAs, and only one of them, 304, was painted in the red white and black.
I absolutely love the livery on #304. It's also great that Lionel painted black around the headlight.
Hey Eric saw your comment on one of the other videos about a bad cold anyway hope your doing better have a good one
I live in Hagerstown and collect Western Maryland O gauge trains. Love this set but im not sure i can justify spending that much on a set. I have more of a starter set budget. 😊 Thanks for the video.
Love this set! WM FA-2 303 is preserved today!
Nice layout, nice train! Hope build one day!
Didn’t realize Eric lived so close to me lol. I’m in Marietta and he’s Woodstock GA crazy to think I’ve been subbed this long and never actually knew that
OMG! I was so excited when I first saw this set on your community posts, and now you’re finally review it! I’m so happy! 😃

Thanks so much, Merry Christmas
Beautiful set... I enjoy watching you unpack all these trains...its sort of like I'm doing it. Looking forward to the next one.
Man! Call that the Silver Streak! High speed Rails. 👍🏻
Those real wood decks are awesome💪🏽

Boxcar looks amazing.
Great video! Especially liked the view from the camera touring the layout. Great set, Great locos,. Great video. Thank you, Eric.
Eric, at 1:41, it’s a Tofc, or otherwise a trailer on flat car, lmao, not a flat car on trailer, lol. Very nice set and Happy New Year!
Extraordinary looking lionel legacy set the freight cars are superb very awesome aereial views of your layout 👍🏻✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Always amazed at your awesome layout! New addition to the collection is beautiful! Thanks
Ngl this set is pretty dope from Lionel.
Nice set.....👌👍🦫🇺🇸💰🎉🎶
The 100 Ton Hopper as 100% die cast is a pleasant surprise
Awesome review! Horn #3 and bell #4 are my likes. Happy new year! 🎉
I'm am so tempted to go get one.
Horn 4-5 I'm tied up between those two.
And the bell for me is 5 I like that one.
Neat on board with the smoke.
Great looking set, nice addition to your collection 👍👍
Thanks 👍

Nice set. I was born and raised in Hagerstown.
i live outside hagerstown,md
Wow, that is a really cool set!!
Nice addition with this set Eric! Horn and bell #1 sounds best to me.
Thanks for the review Eric! I'm a long time Western Maryland fan, but unfortunately do to a relocation was unable to purchase this set. Maybe one day. And it looks great on your layout!
That is a beautiful set congratulations 🎉🎉 🎊
I think so too!
Gorgeous set. Love that beast of a boxcar.
Nice video Eric! Whistle 3 for me and bell 5! Happy New year
well, I now know that your display shelves made it home straight. TY
Always love your videos brah 🚂🔥🔥🔥🎯
I wanted to choke on the diesel smoke during that last ride-along on the roof!
Great Video ! As far as choosing my favorite Horn or Bell, I can't decide.
It’s wild seeing these trains run at such a fast pace. Looks so crazy lol. Would it be possible to mount that rooftop camera inside a passenger car?, maybe looking out the back of an observation car? Or even out a side window? Would be a cool perspective, if it’s possible.
Maybe
I want to try this idea

I like the paint scheme of lead unit :)

Pretty cool
Set
Nice set!
I love the shots from the top of the train! I’ve noticed you doing a lot of those in your videos. What type camera are you using?
Awesome!
Day 5 was a home run ! ! !
Sure is a nice set. Thanks for reviewing.
Good morning...what if I want to buy a toy like this...thank you. 🙏🏼👍🏼
It's definitely a cool setup sir. You know the trailer train car would be a cool car to do next Eric's train (AW) in. To have a flat car and semi trailer in your railroad. That would be cool
Great looking WM set, lionel needs to make more diecast cars like K Line did but for a far better $.
Why die-cast zinc based metal. Those freight cars are heavy. 1 locomotive can only pull 6 to 10 heavy metal cars.
Beautiful set, I wonder what happened to the MTH Premier WM M2 Challenger tooling whether they still own it or sold it off to Lionel. That's one of my bucket list engine's to get.
I asked MTH this at York last year, they still have the tooling and at some point it will be released with PS3.
I don’t think Lionel bought that tooling
Hope you’re close to 100% Eric
looks nice!!
I believe the hopper is an old K-Line tooling
Could be
Horn options are:
1: K5LA
2: Wabco E2
3: Leslie A-200
4: Leslie S-series horn
5: K5LA, but slightly lower pitched
Thanks for the info!
We parked next to you at York 😀
I like #4 & #1
I think Horn #5 is my favorite. The real WM FAs had Nathan M5 horns. I think #5 sounds the closest to the M5s
U got a great deal.
I like horn #1 and bell #3
i live in hagerstown md i wish they made this in ho
Hello neighbor, I'm from Waynesboro and live in Chambersburg now!
@@MMID303 i live in boonsboro outside hagerstown
@@HotRodRodney25 cool, I'm very familiar with Boonsboro.
Top 5 trains of 2023???
I am new to this, When do the new Lionel catalog comes out and how do you order trains? From Lionel or a dealer? I really enjoy your videos!
They put out two catalogs per year. The 2024 volume 1 catalog is about to come out in January. Once it’s out you can pre-order whatever you want through a Lionel dealer like Legacy Station. You usually get a discount for pre-ordering.
Thanks!@@Ericstrains
Do you got any NYSW engines?
Promise I’ll be better at the Live steam
I think I like horn #3, and agree bell 1 is good
Hey Eric do you have any great northern locomotive? I recommend getting a sdp40 #325 which still exists and is run by the Minnesota transportation museum Jackson street roundhouse in st paul Minnesota
By talking trains, do you mean Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends? I grew up watching that.
You haven't reviewed the new lionel Strasburg 90 engine yet Eric
That’s a longer video that is taking more time to finish
@@Ericstrains sure is. Have you ever seen a real one like that?
I love how they give you 5 distinct horns, but the bell honestly just sounds like the same bell with different pitches….little lazy….
Whistle 1, bell 4
I like horn number 4
And bell ,4
Number 1 on horn
Horn #1, Bell #5
Horn #2
Bell #4
Now how do you get the rental car back to the airport??
he probably took it to his local rental place to turn it in
I take it to a local Avis place that’s near my house.
I like train

I hope so
Nice set 👍
