Thanks, Bill. Ive wanted a polar express for years. The charles ro $1419 engine price is high but, the best available so far. However, those polar express car prices are frightening and so disappointing. In 20 years we've never bought lionel passenger cars new because of very high pricing.

heres a fun fact D&RGW Triplex Locomotive was a proposed Triplex steam locomotive by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad and The Denver and Rio Grande Western's Triplex Locomotive was proposed by the Baldwin Locomotive Works after they had built the very first three triplex locomotives for the Erie Railroad in 1914 and they were planning to build this locomotive for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. but unfortunately The reasons to why Denver and Rio Grande Western's Triplex Locomotive wasn't built was because of the issues with the Erie Railroad's P-1s and the Virginian Railway's XA when they couldn't go as fast as their top speed was about 10-15 mph, with the Virginian Railway's XA reaching 3-5 mph or even as high as 10 mph.

We bought a used Hiawatha, not yet unboxed. Trying to unbox it very soon to see if we regret our buy. We didn't know about this new release
I ordered the Seaboard and Milwaukee road 4-4-2’s. I also ordered the custom run ACL that the train loft is making in the 4-4-2. I didn’t order the cars will get MTH sets to go behind the engines.

I'm surprised you didn't point out or see that the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha passenger cars are going to be aluminum which is probably why they're so much, I believe Eric From Eric's Trains is picking that up with the cars
Check out charles ro Preorder pricing. Its lionel pricing policy that makes it expensive. Just wish lionel would sell more at a lower price, not far less at a much higher price. But, .. mth and atlas had a similiar price policy. Gary

Scott, Lionel ,their manager Ryan Kunkel, was on a trainworld live utube session 2 weeks ago and said cars for that blue engine will definitely be in the next lionel catalog so you should be golden. I love that blue NP Berkshire. Gary

I pre-ordered the standard black Polar Express with pretty much all the passenger cars plus the 20th anniversary plus the two boxcars also as well I pre-ordered the NW2 Chicago Northwestern Switcher and the Chicago Northwestern speeder plus also pre-ordered Billy's house and bought hero boys house
Very nice! That's a lot of Polar Express stuff, should make for a great Christmas train. Gary loves Chicago Northwestern. That switcher is going to be really nice.
On the hot box refers that's a re-release. I did a review on the original one years ago. As the car rolls around behind a train a bearing failure occurs. You get the sounds of a squealing bearing. Finally there's a orange glowing light as the bearing gets hotter. Finally there's smoke that starts pouring out and the sounds of the crew saying to stop tge train. So it has nothing to do with the brakes
@Dakman Not an exact re-release. I watched the Lionel review of the catalog and they explained the sound sequences on the new Hot Box reefer cars will be user controllable.

The Lionel Conrail GP9 #7020 without the can opener logo is correct. Conrail was pushing alot of paint jobs through. The Conrail GP9B is a former Pennsylvania unit. So yes Conrail did have it. Onoy 2 Railroads had GP9B units originally. UP and Pennsylvania. Conrail got the Pennsylvania GP9B during the take over of PC.I did cover that in my 2024 Lionel Conrail catalog video.

Funny you mentioned switcher locomotives and calf units. Only in the world of O Gauge do they call a NW2 a cow and calf. In the real world of railroad when a NW2 had a calf unit it was permanently coupled to the main unit when it was produced. So technically they received a different model designation of TR1. Later Railroads put regular couplers on them so they could be separated. But the original design of the cow and calf was meant to be as one unit.

Engines are too expensive. I’m still working off my 2023 Big Boy.
I will buy some rolling stock like Great Northern sound car, Hot Box Reefer and the A&P Reefer.

Nice. The polar express has been on my must have list for a while. Not happy about the passenger car prices, seem lionel excessive. Check out charles ro preorder pricing. it seems far better than most. Still requires a big, crazy amount of money.
@@TheTrainboard well check with TrainWorld I preordered everything from them and I’m going buy e gift cards every month so when it’s ready to be shipped it’ll just take it of the store credit.
Also I agree that they should’ve kept it original. But this one is unique for the 20th anniversary.
What they should’ve done is have two different types of sets or have an option to pick which locomotive you want as part of the set.
The nkp 755 is in conneaut Ohio the 759 is in steam town

Great review you two, almost unsubscribe to your channel because Ryan, you said Polar Express is by far the best Christmas Train Set to ever be built but your Dad is right, The North Pole Central is much more superior and much better graphics and details, he didn’t actually say that but I did and he would agree 😂…. I have the E8’s North Pole Central and all the cars and it’s phenomenal in person, idk the Polar Express just doesn’t do it for me! Great Video nonetheless you two ✌️

I hope also that the legacy set has all the sounds and voices like the old ones . The legacy has much more sounds then the lion chief . Called Lionel store and they know absolutely know nothing about the new set . Will see maybe someone would find out more about it . I am paying the premium , so I want the best .

Lionel needs to lower the price for Polar Express fans and collectors. $250 per car/$1,000 for 4 cars? Plus, since the loco is $250, a full consist is easily $1,250. Better save up, folks. Inflation sucks and we have to improvise.
Yes, were not happy about lionels pricing. Charles ro pricing is slightly lower than the other sites with very low shipping charges and no sales tax for out of states purchases. Gary
