Very rarely test drivers mention the turning circle. I think it is an important thing to make our life easier in parking situations and deserved to be mentioned systematically in every test.
Very good and balanced review, even if my final ranking differs from yours a little bit. I have the ioniq5 and am extremely satisfied. But I wouldn't mind to "downgrade" to the exceptional good looking EX30, except that the lack of ultra fast charging is a absolute no brainer, therefore I stay with my ioniq 5 for now. Tesla is out of the picture, for ME, because I don't find Tesla cars pretty, actually I hate their minimalism. Leave minimalism to Ikea & scandinavians, Elon. The only beautiful Tesla remains the model S, but I don't want a sedan... Life is not perfect.
In Australia, we have far fewer options for EVs, but I bought the EV6 as the best overall package. I was happy to see you agree. Another reason I bought the EV6 over a Tesla is because of my concerns over connected cars, tracking, data privacy, and security. The Australian EV6 does not have any app or ota connectivity. While that doesn't preclude the possibility of personal data being taken during servicing updates, it does reduce the amount and value of that data.
Also with me: Contentwise an absolute bull's eye, as far as the model selection is concerned. I'm basically leaning towards the EX30 because I like the design and it's so nice and short. However, it has the worst price/performance and you always have to choose the highest trim (and highest price) for some useful features (22kW, 360 degree cam). That´s a nogo for me - from a german point of view.
I also chose ev6 1,5 Year ago and I did 60K km so far without any problems and I am still happy of this decision. If this car has 22 kw AC onboard charger, then it would be perfect but at this moment there only 11kw AC and more then 150kw DC.
Thorough, informative, interesting and entertaining, as always. Thank you Thomas. Your in-depth reviews are, for me, the video equivalent of the print media Autocar Road Test: The benchmark.
You took a lot of trouble in making such a compilation. Thx for it. Just the thing for an EV freak like me, who is about to buy one next year. Dankeschön, Thomas!
For 32000 euros the entry level trim MG4 is the obvious choice for me. For 5000 euros more however I would go for the entry level EX30, which although it has a smaller battery than the 64kw MG4, it is overall a better package.

Hi Thomas, this was an unnecessarily long episode. Several of these cars are intentionally in a larger car category ie, XC40, EV6, Ioniq 5, Smart #3 and they are positioned to compete with the Model 3. However the Model 3 perhaps belongs here since the internal space is so small. Your statements about the EX30 being the smallest car is also incorrect, the MG4 is smaller. And that the XC40 is more efficient than the EX30? Where are you getting your efficiency data about the EX30? There are no reliable independent driving reviews published with efficiency data for this car. And it is lighter, smaller than the XC40, so physics will prove the EX30 to be more efficient than the XC40.
Hyundai Kia assistance systems were by far the worst and turns itself off at the slightest bends. BMW's was nice when actually activated, but 50% of the times doesn't really engage and turns itself off without any notification when it feels it can't handle the road, which is as dangerous as it gets. Tesla's was the best I've experienced, but very jerky at slow speeds and phantom braking seems to be getting worse. But Tesla's autopilot has been the most robust for me and most trustworthy.
I liked the XC 40. Poor dealer network in US. I live in a large city and the dealer is 50 miles away. Bought the Toyota Highlander instead. Great dealer network.
For US it is compact, however as explained I put them in because a) people compare the Model 3 as benchmark since it is often same price as other smaller EVs and b) people also compare Niro vs EV6 and see what they go for
Tesla interior is so ugly... too minimalist... it's dead ambiance in there.... look's so cheap...at least they finally added a ambiant light... it's the only thing giving it some ambiance..
Sure ionic 5 is compact😂😂😂 maybe in the US. It’s a massive car with deceptive design language. Looks like delta integralle but 1.5x the size. Same goes for ev6. They barely fit in parking spaces here in Korea. No wonder they have remote parking assistance as if you park them next to each other you will simply not be able to get in.

It is strange that you push petroleum based seating materials for non petroleum vehicles. You may call it leatherette or vegan leather but it is vinyl which is derived from petroleum.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ua-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/v-deo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ua-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/v-deo.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: ua-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/v-deo.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: ua-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/v-deo.html More and more natural materials are rising: ua-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/v-deo.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: ua-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/v-deo.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ua-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/v-deo.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
The MG4 is actually a really nice drive. The Niro EV a great all rounder with a good interior. I couldn’t give my money to right wing extremist Musk who supports a terrible Republican party.

WOW... You seem like a spoon full of sugar. Just because you didn't like the video doesn't mean you get to tear it apart and be insulting. They chose to review a number of different vehicles, comparing them on a multitude of levels. And again, just because you aren't interested in a bunch of them doesn't mean it wasn't important to have them all evaluated. That's pretty simple stuff. But you only wanted to see what you wanted to see, like a petulant child. And then, like a petulant child, when it didn't meet your standards you started to cry and complain. Your comment says more about you than it does about the video itself. Sometimes it's important to look at our reflection in order to learn and grow. I hope you do that before you make another comment like this.

And again, just because you aren't interested in a bunch of them doesn't mean it wasn't important to have them all evaluated. That's pretty simple stuff.
