I thought I was the only stitcher left using LoRan cards! Thanks for the excellent info

I even have their vinyl floss organizer from the 80s and I love their needle threader. I use either LoRan cards with a Pako Needle Organizer or Pako organizers.

Glad you liked it! Keep an eye on my channel. In the coming weeks I’ll be posting a three video series starting from the beginning of how to set up a full or almost full coverage project, stitching on the diagonal using needle parking. I’ll also show how to grid fabric and how to use a laying tool and talk about frame and stand options. It’s all planned out and I’m starting filming it today.

Thank you for sharing, I have 3 full coverage projects but I had never done one… intimidating! So thank you😍

Don’t let yourself be intimidated! Once you have a system for it, it’s very straight forward and in a way, easier than samplers, though those go much quicker. I’m still sticking with kits that have around 50 colors (the pre-cut floss is really nice) though I have a partially kitted up project that is over a hundred. They take a long time but the end results are so satisfying and the journey is very meditative. Feel free to ask for pointers if that would help.

Thank you this very informative video. I have my first dimensions gold kit and do not like the stiff Aida, so switched it out for 20 ct lugana, but didn’t like that. So I soaked the Aida in a foot bath with 2 bounce sheets for 2 days, rinsing after 1 day, then left flat on a towel to dry thoroughly. It softened it. Then I re-started it ( in the middle as I always do), but kept thinking I should have started in the top left corner, also on a gridded fabric and tried the diagonal method. I have left it for now til I get my C-mas card smalls done, but think I will order the gridded fabric now and re-start for 2nd time in January. My biggest fear is starting in top left corner and running out of fabric!? Do the kits allow for a 1-2” border? Your advice will be appreciated! Thank you, 🇨🇦

      Hail Canada!
I've never seen a kit without enough fabric, so I wouldn't worry about running out with a kit. I have seen the recommended fabric by a shop for a chart be wrong. I always double check fabric size, just to be safe.
In each kit, the size of the project is provided. Divide the width by 2 and measure in inches to the left edge and mark the spot with a needle. Then divide the height by 2 and measure up from the needle on the left edge. As long as you use the count fabric in the kit, this works to get you to the upper left. You can use the same method to measure to either corner.
In the video series I'm working on right now, I will show how to measure your fabric and figure out the corner start using inches and the fabric count instead of counting it. It'll be in my Intro to Cross Stitch 102, which I'll be working on in January and have it planned for the second video so keep an eye out for it next month. I'm a former high school chemistry teacher so I'm good at explaining how to measure stuff. :)
I agree, Aida is unpleasant to touch but I use a scroll frame so I don't have to. I only stitch low count linen in hand, which is lovely to touch. I'll have info on lap stand and floor stand recommendations in those January videos I have planned so you can see if switching to using a stand might work for you.
