I have been in bands for around 30 years mostly playing blues and blues rock. I love Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Frank Marino, Billy Gibbons, Angus Young, Jimmy Page, Jeff Healey, Buddy Guy, Santana, the 3 Kings, and others of the like. But nobody had the full on intensity, the soul, the tone, the vibrato, and as Clapton once said "Stevie never seemed to get lost, the music just flowed thru him, he was an open blues channel". Other guitarists had good nights but i dare say nobody had a night quite like Srv had at this show.
I saw SRV at Kingswood Music theatre in Canada's Wonderland in 86, but the El Mocambo is such a small venue the walls must have been sweating. I can only imagine what the crowd must have thought watching this show, probably the closest thing to those watching their first Hendrix experience (get it). There are others that can rip and shred like this (G. Moore, J Beck, B Gibbons, R. Trower) but SRV made it look so effortless and he was so creative especially infusing his "Texas Twang". Never another one like him- Taken way too soon.
Maybe we already have died many times but we never knew because we are instantly teleported into an alternative reality where it never happened. Shit man, I've been thinking that my entire life, I'm just not sure about it.
Stevie never even had to look at the fret board. He just instinctively knew exactly where his hands were. The man was pure genius. Love and miss you SRV!
He played this like 27 times a week on stage and 53 times a day in the morning. Add 7 grams of cocaine a day and you can play it with your teeth and behind your back too. No problem.
Stevie Ray Vaughan has got the motivation and spirit to get on stage and turn loose on that electric guitar and belt out across the universe all his hit songs..band is terrific..Stevie has got the rhythem and melody down pat..a legend..RIP Stevie..never forgotten..were into 2021..going strong
Eh...SRV was a collective of everything he had learned from others. Hardly 'ahead of his time.' It's more than he pretty much finalized blues-rock and 'killed it' by being such a one man collective of it. Nowhere else to go from there. He wasn't ahead of his time, he was the end of blues-rock time. He was the cap on the pyramid. Done. Also this 'best guitar player ever' stuff is pure nonsense. There is no best guitar player ever. Any decent, knowledgeable guitarist would know what I mean. Claiming 'the best' is just fandom.
Love Struck Baby..wow..I'm entertained ..Stevie Ray Vaughan knows the outstanding and the in's to sit back and listen to him strum and pound them strings and cords till he has to work his buddy to change the strings on that electric guitar..great band..RIP Stevie
Music of Soul and blue's with rock n roll lives in Stevie Ray Vaughan still..And his mastering of the Guitar of any type or brand..A genius in what he is legend of and that's blue's and rock.terrific Double Trouble.
I am 7 years old and i have listened to your music since i was 2. I try to play all of your songs on my Squier Stratocaster. You are the reason im playing guitar. I wish I could have met you. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan my best guitarist. My Favorite Guy
There’s only one Stevie Ray Vaughan song that I have heard that I don’t love which is cold shot cause it’s very unstevie Ray Vaughan like i mean come on the song is mostly scratch chords and when I think Stevie Ray Vaughan i think of powerful rifts and powerful licks
I'll never forget hearing about the helicopter crash on the radio next day, the same feeling you get remembering hearing about John Lennon getting shot or Bonzo dying.
1:01 - 1:15 Pay close attention to the body language here lol Stevie's mind is just wandering while he's jamming 1:10 He notices Tommy and gives him a cheeky look. Starts dancing right into his personal space while smacking his lips, you can see Tommy smile and start backing away right when the camera cuts off lol. He was in a love struck mood!
What lives inside of Stevie Ray Vaughan is Music and the electric guitar along with the Whamie.r u with me? And all his wonderful fans ..N9body yet today can outsource Ste ie on guitar aying..RIP Stevie
Well I'm love struck baby, I must confess Life without you darlin' is a solid mess Thinkin' 'bout you baby give me such a thrill I gotta have you baby, can't get my fill I love ya baby and I know just what to do Every time I see ya make me feel so fine My heart beatin' crazy, my blood runnin' wild Your lovin' makes me feel like a mighty mighty man Love me baby ain't I your man I'm a love struck baby Yeah I'm a love struck baby You got me love struck baby And I know just what to do Sparks start flyin' every time we meet Let me tell you baby you knock me off my feet Your kisses trip me up and they're just doggone sweet Don't you know baby you can't be beat I'm a love struck baby Yeah I'm a love struck baby You got me love struck baby And I know just what to do
I was lucky enough to pick up a genuine Earth III Black/White Notes guitar strap just like this one. I will wear it with pride and homage at my next gig! Hopefully some mojo will rub off on me! lol!!
My 22 yr old grandson {I raised him from a tadpole} watched the part where SRV plays behind his head and the doofus says "Why'd he do that?" Where did I go wrong?
Me pregunto cuántas personas de las que estuvieron en esa sala ese día se dieron cuenta al salir del concierto de que esa banda que acababan de ver llegaría a ser una leyenda a nivel mundial.
That drummer had the perfect touch for this song. Really impressive
David Guile Chris “Whipper” Leyton
Perfect touch, just wish that snare had a little more snap to it
Totally agree- this is my favorite drumming on any version of this. Perfection.
@@AvgDude And like a metronome!
Very underrated drummer. But when you’re playing behind a guitar god, that tends to happen.

Too bad they didn’t include Little Wing in it.
That venue is tiny. He poured so much into that show it could have energized an entire stadium
Love Rory Gallagher. Another great that died young!!!
The perfect combination of cocaine and immense skill
@@zzrzz6199 borderline skill and cocaine i must say
I can hear the inspiration from Chuck Berry in this tune. 🤘🎸
THE most natural blues guitar EVER

Speaking of Texan musicians, check out Charley Crockett. Greatest Country artist of this generation
SRV achieved a level of playing and a sound that bands with two or three guitarists could not achieve....
The. Best. Ever.
No one has ever touched the talent of SRV. The best ever.
My favorite shot is 2:05, the cameraman was a genius capturing SRVs legend like that
Somewhere in the multiverse, he's still alive, still rocking ... & making cool movies. Perhaps.
Maybe we already have died many times but we never knew because we are instantly teleported into an alternative reality where it never happened. Shit man, I've been thinking that my entire life, I'm just not sure about it.
Carlos Eduardo Borquez Siqueiros that’s freaky lol.
Carlos Eduardo Borquez Siqueiros dude why have I thought the same thing many times before ...
Absolutely.
@@nichohells Not the way Jesus made things
man oh man, lord knows i miss this undisputed master.
Look at the three of them. Star-crossed as one.
This is what real talent looks like! Live!
Stevie never even had to look at the fret board. He just instinctively knew exactly where his hands were. The man was pure genius. Love and miss you SRV!

Too damn good. Those were the good old days in Texas
Sounds like a high powered machine playing his guitar. Stevies rythm was incredible
I thought that hat was welded to his head
Stevie tried to weld it one time, but he couldn't get fucked up enough to numb that kind of pain. :'D
Superglue
You can’t weld a GOAT
Always the best!
Stevie Ray Vaughan at his best..and his guitar never stops entertaining the fans..Double Trouble is fantastic..
That was so smooth. Stevie was really the best.

Ahead of his time, no one even comes close
ummm ever heard of Rory Gallagher he was the greatest guitarist ever born even Jimi Hendrix said it himself
Kompa Jessi true he's the best no one has or will come close
Rory is up there but not up there with SRV
OBG BOys GTA5 rorys good no doubt but srv blew him away and yea hendrix said that in 69........

Such a badass
I like how SRV says Love Struck Baby at the beginning as LOVE struck BAbeh...
SRV was obviously on fire here, but Shannon really drove this song, filling in everywhere.
The man that's all I have too say.
This is my third favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan song
This man was a god
