E. Honda: Dosukoi is the only one that you need to worry about, but it's a bastardization of "Doko e iku?" (Roughly "What's next?"). But Dosukoi itself is more or less a battle cry (like "Hi-ya").

Sagat: Tiger, T.Uppercut
Vega: Tu (though, I'm sure as far as it's concerned in this case, it's just another battle cry)

I assumed it meant no Betel Nut spitting. I know in Taiwan that's kinda a problem bc ppl that consume betel nuts regularly spit huge mouthfuls of nasty red spit that stains the sidewalk. It's really gross. But that's just my theory.
When I was in Hong Kong, they have signs that say spitting is a 2000 hkd fine. Reason for this is that since the population is so dense, if everyone was spitting on the ground outside, it would get gross lol

In Japanese (and Chinese) mythologies, the "Ten" symbol is synonymous with rulers such as the Emperor (descendants of Heaven) and is also associated with invincibility. The Ten symbol in Akuma's Gi and special moves marks him as being invincible or the supreme emperor of Ansatsuken. It also aligns with his desire to find the ultimate fight to prove his superiority. "Ten" is also heavily associated with the sky as shown in Akuma's SF3 super: Kongou Kokuretsu Zan where he literally summons a bolt of lightning.

They did keep the sign in Russian the same in HD. The sign reads "ЗАПРЕЩАЕТСЯ СМОТРЕТЬ ДЕТЯМ," but the first three letters of the first word are obscured by the red structure, in addition to symbols "Щ" and "Ш" looking very similar to each other. So the word isn't actually "РЕШАЕТСЯ."
"ОЕТА" is indeed not a word, but on the sign the first letter is not "O" but "Д" with the bottom bit cut off. The rounded font makes it look similar to "O." Also, this rounded font makes the letter "Я" appear very similar to "A." The final letter of the word "ДЕТЯМ" is simply missing for some reason. My guess is that they were going for the "the-sign-is-so-old-some-letters-fell-off" kind of look. That would also explain the missing "Ь" on the end of "СМОТРЕТЬ."

Remember; don't shoot the messenger here, but I think I know why (at 2.05) the sign says "no spitting". Japanese "never" spit in the streets and thinks this is very impolite, but in China spitting is not perceived as rude in Chinese society, and therefore some people spit in the street there. I am pretty sure that the japanese creaters of street fighter 2 was thinking it would be nice with a place in China were you can't spit or they just making fun of the Chinese culture in this area. Anyways great video guys thumbs up!

What this guy says is true, and even a friend of mine who's visited HK and the mainland noticed that in Macau elderly people even spit inside the bus and nobody else blinked at the practice.

I was about to comment the same and I instantly interpreted it as the developers having a go at Chinese people who have a reputation for spitting while Japanese and people of other countries find it repulsive.I remember reading about how some countries have been giving Chinese tourists guides to social etiquette because of spitting or other habits that seem offensive (I can’t remember the others but from personal experience Chinese people seem to walk in the street with little awareness to other people around them and often bump into or force people to go around them but you can see how in a crowded country this would be how people navigate through crowds or whatever but comes across as impolite in other places).

Anasatsuken is more of just a general term of a style meant for murdering, which is why Gen (the Kung fu master in Street Fighter Alpha and the 1st street Figher) also has his style Anasatsuken, despite the fact it's really Crane and Mantis style Kung Fu.
The full name for Ryu's and Ken's style basically translates to "Martial art rooted in the assassination fist". It is basically unnamed.
The “No Spitting” sign is actually still needed, as many Chinese people believe that holding any bodily waste is harmful, so they will immediately spit any mucus brought up. Hong Kong has a thing about cleanliness, so the sign might be to get mainlanders to not do that.
(This also means that some will pee or defecate in the nearest convenient spot, rather than hold it for the bathroom)

Or maybe they thought MESÓN was BIG TABLE, I surely did when I was a kid, therefore, MESÓN DE LA TABERNA: Tavern´s Big Table (Two big tables on each side with lots of people) It is common in Spain and Spanish speaking countries to use a piece of furniture or an artifact or feature of a building PLUS a place, to name restaurants, bars, hotels, etc.
P.S. It would be MESÓN DE LAS FLORES. LAS FLORES is plural so it´s LAS not LA, LA is the singular form of the article that precedes a femmenine noun.

The Sign in Ryu's stage is also a throw back to the Japanese Feudal Lord Takeda Shingen who used that. "As swift as the wind, as gentle as forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakable(or unmovable) as mountain." Which is likely why Ryu has it more than the Art of War thing although it does come from that for Takeda. It references the Takeda forces which were notoriously difficult to beat, and attacked in waves. Also Takeda himself rarely moved out of his area which was highly defended thus leading to his lineage surviving unconquered even when Oda Nobunaga was racing across Japan conquering before his assassination. Anywho Takeda died, his son took over left the mountain to conquer and was quickly defeated and the Takeda family was suppressed(Much to the glee of Oda Nobunaga et al).
In the original SF2 I always thought Chun Li said “Get That” when she won & when she did her Spinning Bird Kick it sounded like “Beans, Sardines”!

At least, it was in Hong Kong. I went to the park in 1995. It was the furthest thing from Disneyland. It shows some Chinese arts. In fact, it was more like a museum than a park. The most memorable display was a sculptural depiction of Chinese hell.
Sounds like the Singapore version is very similar. The Chinese hell display is one of the many unusual highlights! Which include children chased by a bear, a rat with a gun and a crab with a human head.

Also, I think they renamed Gouki into Akuma because they wanted a really "evil character" in the game. Gouki isn't actually evil. He lives by the tenets of his fighting style to the extreme. Ansatsuken really meant Assassination fist. Meaning, their martial arts style was actually for killing. If you see some of the material (like the game guides), their fighting style says "Martial Arts Style based on (roots from) Ansatsuken". Also Gouki doesn't fight a person with a skill below his own. Which is why when he first appeared on SF2 there are certain conditions for you to fight him (like no lost rounds or finish everything with supers).
Like there is no Evil Ryu, it's more like Ryu succumbing to the Wave of Murderous Intent (Satsui no Hadou). Except that Satsui no Hadou was actually a part of the original fighting style, and when Gouken taught it to Ryu and Ken, he used a distilled form of their fighting style as if using the satsui no hadou would lead them to madness.

The Shin (神 - God) was actually not used in the SF series non crossover games. The God-like was only used in CVS 2 because I think SNK had "Gods" in them like God Rugal that Capcom needed to have a God as well. But in SF series they just use the True (真) kanji. Not to say what you are fighting with is fake, I think it could mean you are fighting the enemy using their true skill.

If you split the elements up wind forest mountain fire then you would use Kaze Mori Yama and Hi. Note, the word Fire as in the house is on Fire would be Kaji... its ridiculously confusing I know. there theres the word for Tuesday which is Kayoubi or 火曜日 which can be confused if you try to use that Kanji with other Japanese words (I once tried to use the Ka kanji to describe a hot nabe dinner and people thought I was talking about a nabe dinner on tuesday lol)

qi gong氣功/气功 has nothing to do with yoga. Qi 氣/气 literally means “breath/air”, and Gong功 is basically “ martial art” in this context, and is the same word in “KungFu 功夫”, which is spelled GongFu in mandarin PinYin. And QiGong is a type of martial art that invokes this invisible force/energy within the body that the Chinese refer to as the breath/air. And it’s a common thing among many schools of chinese martial arts, including the fictional ones. The hadoken and other projectiles are also universally referred to as QiGong among the chinese speaking players, just as how westerners commonly call these “fireballs”, even though most of these projectiles aren’t “fire” at all.

You missed out a bit on Akuma's sign. Though the video is about SF2 specifically, here's some extra info.
The signs (background and sign on his gi) varies throughout the series. In SF2, the sign on the screen's background says 夭 (though the brush stroke is in calligraphic font) which is pronounced Yao, meaning early/premature death, and on the back it says 天 which is pronounced Ten, meaning heaven. - 夭 - Yao - Early death - is most notable in Super Street Figher IV, where you can hear children laughing in the background after doing a "killing" Shun Goku Satsu to the opponent, whereas in SFIV that doesn't happen. Also the sign on his back is different from SSFIV. 神人 also appears in the series, which is "shin," or to be super specific, "shin jin," or "kami hito," all meaning "god" or "god person." - Akuma is a personification of the fiction that are gods, and seems to proclaim these concepts to be murderous monster concepts. Akuma isn't alone with anti-religious statements in SF though, Seth in SFIV series has for example quotes that ridicules god-concepts. - Another thing is that Shun Goku Satsu (瞬獄殺) has nothing to do with a heaven. Translated it means Instant Hell Murder (NOT "Raging Demon") - which again points to an early/premature death, as in 夭 (yao).

The Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan motto was the battle banner of famous Japanese warlord Takeda Shingen. It can also be seen printed on Ryu's belt in official artwork of him.
I dunno if someone already made this note but as a spanish speaker I can make one. "Mesón" doesn't always means "inn", it os used as a place where you can eat and drink, "mesón" stands for a "big wood table" where you can gather, eat and drink, it is used as "Tavern", but the original name is telling you that that place is called "the big wood table tavern"
Nice job on the vid. guys. Keep it up, UA-cam a VERY LONG marathon race. That also explains akuma in Tekken 7. Since like the Mishima family has that devil gene. Tekken could also be another one that you can do, but I’m pretty sure most of it is subtitled.
We have been thinking about doing that (I think you're the second one to recommend us doing it.) Though that would explain a bit of Akuma being in Tekken 7.

Btw, in the expression "Mesón de..." for Vega's stage, then it comes with "las flores" instead of "la flores". The logic behind this is that Spanish, like French, Portuguese or some other Romance languages, displays singularity/plurality and genre in the articles, which has to be matched with the corresponding noun.
This applies unless the inn ("Mesón") belongs to a lady whose (Spanish) surname is Flores. In that particular case, "Mesón de la (señorita/señora) Flores" is translated to "Mistress/Miss Flores' Inn".
Yeah, I know in Spanish it would literally translate to Inn of the Flowers or whatever, but for English purposes they could have just said it meant The Flowers Inn/Tavern.
You've just got the point partially. Even if "flor" is literally "flower", as well as "flores" is its plural form, "Flores" is a relatively common Spanish surname itself. So "Flores' Inn/Tavern" is also a valid, legit translation per se.

Dude, "Romance" (not Roman nor Roma nor Romani) is the broad family of modern languages which evolved from Vulgar Latin substrata. In this context, "Latin" language is, by extension, Classic Latin which was already close to extinction even before the rise of Romance languages, and it has just remained learnt merely for academical or ecclesiastical purposes.
Technical mistranslation:
波動拳
Hadouken actually translates to "Surging Technique"
波 "Ha" in Onyomi, but "Nami" in Kunyomi. Means "Wave" of water, but it is more commonly used as the same as we use "Wave", such as in "ラジオ波" Rajio-Nami or "Radio waves"
動 "Dou" in Onyomi, but "Ugo(ku)" in Kunyomi. Means "Motion" or "Velocity"
拳 "Ken" is Onyomi, and "Kobushi" in Kunyomi. Means "Clinched fist" or in martial arts, it is used as a shorthand as "technique" opposed to use of "jutsu" (術), which is "Technique" in a seperate idea. Difference: Jutsu would be a complete style like Ishinryu Bujutsu (一心流武術... Which the bujutsu means "Warrior Techniques"). However Ken is used for a single technique within a jutsu. Such as a "surging technique of the Ansatsuken" (暗殺拳の波動拳). Which actually begs that Ansatsuken is actually a smaller part of a larger style.
波動 Hadou if looked up in a Japanese Dictionary, is an uncommonly used word (similar to how "inundation" is the uncommon synonym of "flood"), that means "Storm Surge". Basically, the movement of water waves. The Surge that comes in from a Typhoon, is sometimes referred to as "Hadou", by weather reporters.
So, "Surging Technique" is the best translation for this.
Also, you missed Gouki's iteration of the "Gou-Hadouken" (豪波動拳) which roughly translates to, "Brush-Stroke Surging Technique", leading to the fact that Gouki is actually a Calligrapher... Or *"WAS"* a Calligrapher, before "ABANDONING HIS HUMANITY".....

I'd heard that Hodouken meant Surge Fist. Making Hado mean Surge. That makes sense if Satsui no Hado means Surge of Murderous Intent. Anyone know if anything I just said is true, or have I been misinformed?
You're not misinformed. There are a few translations for this, Hadouken can translate into Wave Motion fist (which we used,) or Surge Fist.
Things like these get lost in translation... but the per kanji translation is Ha = Wave and Dou = Motion. If you watched Battleship Yamato (or Starblazers in the West), the main cannon of the yamato is Hadouhou. Or Wave Motion Gun.

Wave can also mean pulse (like sonar pulse), giving another translation of "Pulsating Fist"

2:55 Hu Bao Bieshu translates to Tiger balm garden which is located in Hong Kong. Haw Par Villa on the other hand is in Singapore.
Fu rin ka Zan in fact is the motto of the Takeda Clan in the Sengoku era, very known by its general Takeda Shingen. If you played Sengoku Basara, or Devil Kings in the American version, you should remember him as a big guy in red with a big axe and a horned helm.

Funny thing about the Shotokan reference that you made; although the fighting style itself is not very similar to Shotokan, a lot of the techniques (in sf2) result in poses extremely similar to although the characters don't necessarily arrive at the strike in the same way. The stance taken in the hadoken is the most basic in Shotokan and the first learned. Both medium strikes are almost exactly the same as Shotokan with the kick being a higher, less defensive version of yoko-geri kekomi (side thrusting kick) and the punch being the bread and butter of Shotokan, gyaku-zuki (reverse punch).
I always thought Chun-Li was saying 'Kukulkan', which is a flying feathered serpent deity from Maya culture. I always thought there as a connection because she has this avian undertone to her character.

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but there's a reason why dictator is named "Vega": Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra and one of the brightest stars in the night sky. It could also reference his Psycho Power, which makes him shine with flames like a star.
The Latin name of the star is Alpha Lyra, which was also the name of Capcom's sound production studio in the 80's and early 90's which produced all of Capcom's arranged music for their soundtracks, which include Street Fighter.
The Kanji on the back of Akuma literally translates to devil
Kikouken (気功拳) ... I think some of the guys use Qigong fist because there is no actual direct english translation. I think they used here in this contest as a just a generic ki attack. Remember, Tenshihan's attack is called Kikouhou (気功砲), so does that mean Qigong Gun? I think kikou is just a generic term for a product of ki/qi/chi.
