Imagine if Shulk yelled “M U R D E R” every time he busted out his Monado
Chara Dreemurr Then it would make Shulk sound like a villain
Hah more like murda because of his accent lol 😁
I’M REALLY KEELING IT
Well Shulk did want to murder all Mechon.
That would mean Kirby would have to say it, too
Fun fact: Cloud's Final Smash/Limit Break is called in Japanese version "Chokyu Bushin Hazan" (超究武神覇斬) which translates into a quiet edgy name "Super Extreme Martial God Supreme Slash"
Holly molly
@Otacon464 me neither
Sick
G O D S U P R E M E S M A S H
Oh my edgy balls
To this day nobody knows what ness was saying in melee
Pizza Crust!
*C H I C K E N T E N D E R S !*
Seriously? SRSLY? Hmm.
I KNEW what he was saying since I had the guide and knew his attack names... But they never sounded right...
he says big gay fire
Piken Cross!
Ness: Ok
Cloud doesn't speak English in smash because of legal issues. Cloud's English voice actor is part of a union, which Nintendo doesn't work with for various reasons. Pit and Viridi's voice actors worked around this by remaining uncredited, but part of Cloud's voice actor's contract states that he must always be credited for voicing Cloud
Interesting, never knew this
So I guess Steve Burton won’t have a chance at voicing Cloud in Ultimate :/
Maria Thompson oh shit
Good, I really hope that we can make Marth Japanese, too.
Its a shame, as i really prefer english voice acting, i prefer to actually understand what they are saying
Not going to lie. I used to think Ness said PK Pulse when using PK Flash in Melee. Now thanks to Kirby I know what he was saying.
shirehorse7 i thought in melee he said "PIZZA CRUST" and the pk thunder in brawl " CHICKEN TENDERS "
I thought he said PK Star when he did Pk flash
Ness pk pulse
Kirby as ness pk flash
Me too
I thought he said PK buff but he said PK flash this kid needs to learn how to pronounce the word flash and actually let’s just round that up to about everything
They are speaking the language of *A N I M E*
Lucas M you again
AKA Japanese
WHEN I SAW THIS COMMENT I WAS CRACKING UP because of A N I M E XD
Flossing.
Lol De taal van anime
In Shulk's case, In his hone game he doesn't actually know what the "symbols" in the Monado mean, he likely just named those buffs after what they appear to do.
Pretty sure someone already posted this, but Marth’s “Everyone, please watch me!” Should be translated as, “Everyone, please watch over me!”. This makes him sound more of a leader than just a narcissist. However, if Marth’s voice line was “みんな、見てくれ!” , then the translation given by this video is correct.
EDIT: Roy’s “真の戦いは、これからだ” would be, “The true battle has yet to come”.
In Smash Ultimate, they changed it to "Keep your eyes open", so that fits in line with what you said
funny thing, the transcription you gave is exactly what Mr. Resetti says when he does his Marth "impression" in Brawl.
You forgot Bayonetta! She has one Japanese line in the English version of the game. When she does her forward throw she has a small chance to say 十年早いんだよ meaning "you're ten years too early". This is a reference to Akira Yuki from Virtual Fighter who also does the Tetsuzanko which is Bayonetta's forward throw.
Corrections:
1:07: Fox's line is 任務終了, not 作戦
2:15 Falco's line should be お前の 腕前ってのはその程度か instead of お前の実力ってのはその程度か
Well ok
@Toast Lad&BabyVampireThug日本の雌犬、あなたはそれを話しますか?
When Kirby copies Jigglypuff, he says “Purin”, which is Jiggly’s Japanese name (literally meaning pudding).
Regarding the Monado arts starting at 7:25: Tobu (翔) means everything from jumping to flying like in DBZ, so translating it as "Jump" is correct (I hear this a lot and many characters will say "Janpu" to be specific, and some variant of "Tobu" otherwise). Second, the kanji for "Buster" is Kiru (斬), which is a sword cut/slice that could be anything from a flesh wound to a killing blow, so "Slasher" is a better translation. You can see the kanji and their various meanings here www.romajidesu.com/kanji/%E7%BF%94%E7%96%BE%E7%9B%BE%E6%96%AC%E6%92%83
Worth mentioning that in Roy's last line, 負けられない! is more accurately translated is "I *cannot* lose."
Dude mewtwo talking is badass, bring that back Sakurai, same sound clip
It's That Mewtwo in the first movie,it can't be bad
We need Justin Y and StickMaster500 in Smash
AJskii yes
Does Justin Y echo StickMaster500 or is it the other way around?
Honestly I think Justin Y. is kinda annoying
Like he's funny and I bet he's not a bad person or anything but it's like, man, make some space for the rest of us
All Justin Y does is click on a video and comment based on the title without even watching the video itself, which makes some of his comments not make any sense. And he doesn't even reply or do anything to anyone.
And that's the beauty of Justin Y.
Fox's Japanese actor sounds so friendly! I want to high five him. Falco is also pretty cool.
8:53 That’s actually a taunt.
I think all three of them are taunts
Baww, you guys didn't cover Japanese lines for Snake, Robin, Bayonetta, Ike, Lucina, Corrin, Pokemon Trainer etc... :(
SmashBros2009 pokemon trainer in japensese?
Don't those people all speak English?
@@johnspoon2569 Yes but they also speak Japanese too.
4:58 every smash character’s question
This made me realize that we don't have confirmation that Roy will speak English in ultimate...
ImmortalEmperorMaster hmm
Well id assume he does since marth does
He probably will in a future Smash game when we get the inevitable Fire Emblem 6 Remake that gives him an English voice.
SnipingIsFun he has an English voice actor in fire emblem heroes
He might not be dubbed yet? That's probably why he's not in the demo, too. Similar to how Robin wasn't in because whatever his FS is, it not having Chrom would have been a big hint to Chrom being in.
Also, I'm hoping Ray Chase gets in. :P
He already has an English voice (Ray Chase), so is really likely that he will be voiced in English. If Marth got his with Yuri Lowenthal, then why not Roy?
That's Bayonetta. . . oh wait there's an E at the end
I like Marths Japanese voice just saying
CyanRyanN64 !
It's very fitting for his character. Too bad in ultimate he's got an English VA.
Yuri Lowenthal does a great job. Sounds almost identical to his Japanese VA
Fresh Chicken Nuggets wait we can't switch between the two
Paper Luigi hmm I'm gonna have to hear him and have to compare them
Fresh Chicken Nuggets If you played any modern FE game with Marth, you'll find his English voice to be fitting
It's almost as if you have a troubled past.
In Mewtwo's mind: *plays a transparent montage of scenes of it being tested on and birth of Mewtwo and at the same time plays all around me are familiar faces.*
I’ve been whating for so long for another episode in this series. Thank you.
I use to think Marth saying "everybody look at me" was him being a bit of a peacock, but then in Ultimate it became "keep your eyes open."
Turns out he's meant to be rallying his troops to pay attention to him - "on me" would be a much closer translation for his English dub, but it's too short for the taunt so they went with that other one. Professional translation must be a fun job.
Indeed! And the amount of crap they get for not being 100% faithful is irritating. Could you imagine a 100% faithful translation and all the lines either end too early or go on past the character's mouth moving? Or the meaning of the line being totally lost because idioms and double entendres don't translate well? On the other hand, too much liberty can result in the character having a different personality effectively, like All Might in My Hero Academia (much more heroic in the dub).
You forgot Bayonetta.
Just to put it out there, she says "juunen haiaindaiyo" which roughly translates to
"You're ten years too soon"
mewtwo's japanese voice is the most badass thing ive ever heard
I remember another ideal for an episode of "What are they saying."
Age of Empires 2 gives each faction a different language to speak, so there's a lot of lines for chopping wood, like Chooper or choppa or something.
I love this series so much! So interesting!! Also, HYPE FOR SMASH ULTIMATE!
Thanks for the info! Can't wait for ultimate! You guys soon will be one of the next best channels! ❤️
I love these videos! This one is honestly my favorite, because ever since I first got my Wii U (bundled with Sm4sh and Splatoon) and started playing Smash, I’ve been a fan.
Great video, as always! You guys deserve so many more fans!
I thought this was late since it has been covered before but I still learned new stuff in it like the Shiek, Fox, and Falco lines. Good job.
Are we not gonna talk about how intense Falco’s voice is?
I always thought marth’s cut line was saying “Advance!”
5:00 That Custom Robo desing is awesome...
This is one of my favorite shows on the internet. Not gonna lie.
Videos* (?)
Buster Monado Art
Activating Instant Kill
Why does falco japanese voice sounds like a badass ?! 😂
Turn on captions and read what it thinks fox says
Dolphinman he caaaaan’t, sucks then kendall
Wait it’s been 10 months? I feel old
Why didn’t you translate the characters that speak in the Japanese version of Brawl and Smash 4? I’m curious about those as well
Star Falchion
Maybe because they re-use the lines they say in previous games.
I know that in Brawl and Smash 4 Marth has the exact same lines shown in the video. The same goes for Roy.
Niko_gamer 2013 I’m talking about characters they didn’t talk about like Ike, Shulk, and Palutena.
Star Falchion
Ah, I see what you mean.
ua-cam.com/video/FeUphgYhBHs/v-deo.html
I found this video were it compares all of the languages available at smash, it doesn't come with translation or subtitles but if you want, you can check it out.
Niko_gamer 2013 I saw the video already. I wanted the translations
Star Falchion
I can only help you with the translation for Lucina's final smash and 2 of the 3 taunts robin has.
Lucina's final smash: I'll change destiny
Robin first taunt(in the English language he says "time to tip the scales"): this will change the tide of the battle.
Robin second taunt(in English he says "prepare yourself"): Are you ready to finish this?
I always thought *Fire Blast* looked like *火* (fire, Tuesday(?))… but now that you've mentioned it, I agree that it actually looks like *大* (big, great).
From now on, no more Minna mittete kure will be said because Marth will be voiced in English
unless you change the game's language to japanese.
We need Duel Screens in this game, they need 1,000,000,000 subs, they deserve it
I love how Cloud's va is also Rohan from JoJo.
I have been curious forever but never bothered to look it up, thanks for this!
I miss Marth's Japanese voice in Western version of SSBU. He's one of my favorite characters from Nintendo.
you know with the newest fire emblem character added we now have
marth
red haired marth
girl marth
and the new one
dad marth
Fox and Falco's Jp lines from Melee were their lines in Brawl in English
I have no fricking idea, that’s what they say
8:13 oml kirby is too cute
I love how it shows the flags on the thumbnail.
Smash 2 years ago: OH MY GOD IT'S CLOUD!!!
Smash the second the Third Fighter was being announced for Ultimate's Fighter Pass Vol. 2: *One-Winged Angel plays loudly as reality begins to implode*
3:11 what a transition
Lucario has a Japanese VA as well for Brawl. As for Wii U/3DS, I don't know if they changed the VA, but I know he has a VA in Brawl, as I actually do use that VA when playing PM. Not to mention Ike and Sonic as well. But I figured that the lines in the US and the Japanese release are roughly the same?
「斬」means slash/hack rather than kill/murder...
Charizards' 「大」originate from Kyoto festival “Daimonji” or “Gozan no Okuribi”
Nintendo is located in Kyoto.
In Bravely Second, a few of the characters, most notably one of your main party members, speak in a different language occasionally, and even though it's subtitled in that language, for the most part, it isn't subbed in english.
Nobody:
Cloud: *I' M N O T I N T E R E S T E D*
4:54 All those syllables just to say "I cannot lose"?!
Japanese divides everything into particles (like English auxiliary verbs but more)
Every single time I hear Kirby's japanese copy ability voice clips I fangirl WAY more than I should. I can't help it though. IT'S FRICKING ADORABLE! AAAAAA-
(Great video btw!)
You forgot the theme song for brawl which is in an actual language
It may take a lot of time but could you guys make an episode of What are they saying in Fire Emblem Awakening (The Japanese critical cut-in quotes)?
Also, This was an amazing video, I can finally understand what Cloud says in Smash, Thank you.
This is a really cool video I love learning about the history of these games!!
My friend always fangirled over Marth's Japanese VA (from a lot of anime) and was disappointed the newest game had him in English. However, I was able to use Melee's deleted sound-fonts and made her a ringtone and notification sound using "Let's Dance!"
Imagine bakugo saying MASS EXPLOSION MURDER in super smash bros 4
Shulk in a nutshell
Regular: Smash!
Accurate: *ACTIVATING INSTANT KILL*
OMG. I just discovered that falco’s Japanese voice is same than Zoro in one piece 😱😱 I’m shocked
Marth's English voice is like butter TBH
In the Super Smash Bros Brawl Section, You didn't tell us what the Grey Block in the Day Stage in the Editor Says. That will Drive me Mad for Eternity until you could put that to Rest. Let me know if you can make sense of it in the Near Future.
Kirby speaking is somehow more offensive than Pikachu
TheKiss How so? It's more adorable than offensive.
"surface area"
-points at line
I remember watching these when I was younger.
You forgot that weird Japanese phrase Bayonetta yells during her forward throw sometimes (the one that’s a reference to Virtua Fighter)
Who else would pay for DLC, to change Shulk's "Buster" voice line, to *"MURDER!!"?* XD
I'm high-key so glad Roy and Marth speak English in Ultimate. 👌
Oh and Hey, there was also another proof of the smash ball in 64:
Ness has a cut voice clip of him saying, “PK STARSTORM!” which did become his final smash, so.......
Rex and Pyra for smash Ultimate! (Along with bandana dee, Isaac, Geno, and Skull kid)
UA-cam not only didn't notify me, but unsubscribed me
“みんな、見てくれ!” is forever burnt into my brain
Not trying to be mean but it means Everyone,Look!
@@JaxHappy1 Exactly! Good job!
one thing to note though, i see now that i had a small typo in my OG comment. while grammatically correct and conveys the same meaning-ish, what i wrote was not what Marth actually says in his taunt. if you listen closely, he says みんな、見ていてくれ for anyone interested, here's the breakdown:
>>みんな addressed subject
>>見てい miru verb in te form to form command
>> てくれ tekureru grammer (level n4 grammer,- i wasn't even aware tekureru at the time i made the og comment as i was level n5 still. like the verb, also in te form. this grammer is usually seen with a ni particle, but if the speaker omitted watashi, then ni is dropped too as from context it is clear that the attention should be given to marth c:
I always herd Hitmonlee's cry as "PSYDUCK! LEE! LEE! LEE! LEE!"
I love mewtwo's lines at the end of a fight i kind of wish they will put it in smash bros ultimate
2:43
The hells happening to marth’s cape
Stopping at 0:56 looks like hitmonlee kicking onix in the face whiles hes getting pounded from behind by beedrill.
and now we wait for the Ultimate version
逃がすかよ? Is much closer to "As if I would let you escape" or "You think I would let you escape?" It's more of a rhetorical question. Not a literal question to the opponent but more of a taunt.
With Shulk, I've usually seen the Kanji for Buster translated as "cut," which makes sense for what Buster did in Xenoblade.
僕は負ける訳にはいけないんだい。 Is close but it actually means "I can't afford to lose." Or "I must not lose."
1:54
I love this line
4:24 he pronounces “Lon Lon Ranch” wrong
It's Al worth nothing that in the Japanese version of Smash 4, Shulk does directly call out the Monado Arts by name (like in English too)
走る for Speed
守る for Shield
戦う for Buster
I forget what he says for Monado Smash and Jump tho
I have a suggestion for the next what are they saying video, The King of Fighters games
As a german, i used to mishear "PK Thunder" to "Gefunden" (=found) and "PK Fire" to "Jawoll" (=yeah)
Kirby saying Paluntena's lines is adorable.
1:54 is that you, Kakyoin?
0:23 imagine if this thumb was Super Smash Bros Legacy Collection
In smash 64, I’m pretty certain falcon says stuff like “show me your moves!”
It is true, the kanji 斬 can be translated to "Kill/Murder" in some cases, but it can also be read as "To Cut/Slice" in other cases. If you have anything else you want to ask/confirm, please, talk to me, I will be open.
5:25- Wilhelm scream. LOL 😆
7:11- I'm really feeling it! LOL 😆
Now we have to wait for Roy and Cloud.
THIS IS SO COOL! 😂 I speak Japanese, so it’s so cool hearing all these Japanese lines in SSB
1:44 "KneeHon-GO!"
That's the equivallent of Missun Compreeh 😃
Why is this only for japanese text? Some characters speak in other languages depending on your settings. I know that Lucario has some german voice clips in the german version of sm4sh. Which would also mean that there are probably some japanese voive clips too. Would be interested in what they are
English dub quote versions of his Japanese lines:
Mistta=I missed!
Genkai wo koeru=I'm breaking the limits!
Imada=Now!
Kyomi nai ne=No thanks!
Tsuki ga nakatta na=You have no chance.
Waruku omou na=No worries.
Tsuite nai na=How unfortunate!
Omae ni ore wa taosenai=You are out of my league!
