I can't believe people are coming to me talking about High Score on Netflix, when this channel exists with way better editing, research, flow, narration, and presentation. I hope you guys one day get the recognition you deserve.
This 100%, Netflix has become nothing but total filth, and garbage no longer even worth bootlegging.
P]0
answer: Netflix is woke(tm). It's an outlet that is interested in pushing woke propaganda.
in contrast, this UA-cam channel is simply interested in quality & facts.
High score is shit ! This is good
Gave up on high score.
Walking into an arcade in the 1990s and hearing people playing SF2 before you could even see the machine was awesome. That machine was louder than all the rest. You could hear "HADOKEN!, HADOKEN!, ....SHORYUKEN!" from across the arcade. It was almost intimidating as a young kid. What a great game.
Now that I’m 40 I would never thought I will actually get to see how streetfighter 2 was made. This is probably the best Christmas present I’ve had in my lifetime.
Same bro, 38 years old here and used to watch over the older kids playing it at a local milk mart convenience store when I was 5-6 years old here in Toronto Canada ..one day I had 2 milk jugs to return they gave me 50 cents..it was empty and I played street fighter 2 arcade in that shop and and I think that was it for me ... was a fan all my life until today. (street fighter 3rd strike was the last one is really enjoyed, not into the newer ones with the 3d style animations and goofy looking characters)
true.. This day when mom put the box close to my pilow. one of the best day of my life (after the day had to get my neo geo :)
39 and my brother just sent me this gem. So many things I didn't know and some things I thought I knew were proven true. Subscribing!!
It's troubling if this is truly the best gift you've ever received. I assume you're exaggerating for dramatic purposes. If not.... I feel for you
@@senseiseagal1983 let him live, man.
One of the best effects of this game was the slow motion after the knockout! It added so much drama seeing the whole game slow down as you beat your opponent
Literally designed for bragging rights
Great point
This deserves a resounding, bit-crushed, "Perfect!"
PeRfEcT!
**Score countdown sound**
You win!
Prrr...rrfcct..
BERBECT!
These are by far the highest quality game docs out there. We're always looking forward to em!
Dude I love your stuff, you're so awesome!
When even Kratos's mocap says that, who would disagree? 😉
Another good channel is Jeremy Parish, but yeah this one is really unrivaled
@@akeminakajima449 Thank you, Chaver 🙏
Noclip are great too, and Archipel... and others I can't think of right now. Splash Wave is awesome, but to say that these are "by far" the best docs makes it sound a bit like you haven't been watching anything else, or you're just friends with the guy, lol. ;) We're lucky that there are so many wonderful content creators out there. :)
P.S. Cool work BTW :P
The work you put into these documentaries is ASTOUNDING.
Crafsman!
Especially they pay detail attention to Game theme as well in background.
for real man
15:19 fist-pumping in a Bart Simpson t-shirt while playing Street Fighter II encapsulates the early 90's better than anything I can imagine!
I genuinely wish UA-cam didn't take such a "quantity over quality" approach to picking which channels get promoted. We need more channels willing to take time and care when making videos, like Strafefox's work.
I hear you. UA-cam algorithm is all about pushing garbage. It does not favor content creators who take its time to make a thorough and well crafted piece. What's worse is that it rather pushes creators to change to lower its quality in order to produce more frequently. I much rather have quality recommendations like strafefox than all the garbage it offers me everyday.
Less people need to think making videos is a real job. They take this videos way to seriously
Sadly it's all down to money, UA-camrs who produce a lot of content (often of poor quality) also means that a lot more ads are broadcast.
So true
So true.
My friend’s son always wants to play this game on my Switch collection when they come over. This proves to me that Street Fighter II is timeless. Weirdly tonight the lad came over wanting to play King of Fighters 97. Very specific
This was amazing, and Street Fighter 2 was a masterpiece that rocked the arcade world. Thanks for this.
Street fighter 2 always never gets old. Thank you for the childhood memories to all Capcom staff
Ok, you are the best content creator I've ever seen. Everything is top notch and the editing is amazing. And you don't throw in a joke here and there like other UA-camr, you just get to the point. Even though you take a lot of time to make a new video, the wait is always worth it!
👍
Great post. I'm in my 40's now, but I still remember going to the arcade at 12 or 13 years old to play Final Fight and instead seeing a big crowd around a new machine, then instantly falling in love with the game when I saw it. It was a real evolutionary leap in gameplay and graphics.
Same, but it was to the smell of Pizza Hut, when they still had sit down restaurants (if you happened to live in the US). 🤩
Streetfighter was, is and always will be the ultimate best fighting game.
back in 90s yes, but they suck now especially on 3D. Tekken ftw
@@brahmoone since then the games have not changed by much, too much effort on graphics rather then creativity
@@brahmoone Tekken tag 2 was a big fail and tekken 7 sold good thanks to the aggressive marketing strategies. It's a low budget game with many balancing and gameplay problems and at the end they turned tekken 7 into a 2d game as well. To be honest you will never seen any game having a real impact like SFII or tekken III anymore but if they don't introduce real innovations.
@@ppate8 Man, you are so ignorant
Absolutely. I grew up playing SF2 in the 90’s. I still learn new things all the time.
It amazes me how much time and research was put into this video
👀
They did this tremendous game justice 👍
Mahboi
I think it was good
Bot
I'll repeat this forever.. best channel on UA-cam hands down
The videos are bad but the games are interesting !!
Every time this channel uploads I get a month added to my life
This is hands down the best Street Fighter documentary I've ever watched!
Once of the greatest video games of all time. I remember the first time I played SF 2 at my local arcade back in 91. Amazing memories
Shoryuken on the like button !
I sonic boomed it.
Hadouken counts as well!
Spining bird kick !
Helicopter D
No....TIGER UPPERCUT!
As always the highest quality on UA-cam.
Thanks to these young Japanese minds for giving us an unforgettable childhood.
The quality of those documentaries is insane, not only the base of it but all the 2D and 3D video editing just add to the whole experience
This game was just absolutely perfect in any aspect.
Had lots of childhood flashback when watching this docu. Thanks a lot!
Yes it is, of course
Capcom announcer after watching this video: "Perfect!"
Fantastic work!
The music of the game is classic that still beating most of the games up-to-dates

I’m glad you make videos about the making of the game, instead of just reviewing the game itself. Thank you!
Still the best production value on UA-cam! Thanks for all the hard work it really shows!!
That's the first thing I noticed when I came across this by accident!! All that work isn't it vain, because it made me watch the whole video lol!
Yup. Pretty much eclipsing AHOY now.
You need to watch Nerdcity.
Bargain
The amount of production quality put into this is astounding.
Such a beautiful video! The art direction, aesthetics, 3d effects, transitions, color harmony, sound, and narration are above and beyond! Congratulations Jeroen! 1 new subscriber here from the Philippines!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
The 'making of' vids on this channel are truly amazing and professional. I'll definitely be setting aside time to watch this later today
To see my childhood so lovingly depicted and the dedication and pure joy of the developers shown here in all their naivety of what they would build together....it feels so weird to be a part of history in this way now. I see why people get more and more attached to the world the more they engage with it, it's a very carthartic feeling indeed.
Street Fighter was an iconic game for the Super Nintendo and it cemented Nintendo's reputation as the best gaming console manufacturer, especially in the UK. During my early college years, I remember popping into my local store and playing street fighters 2 demos on the Super Nintendo. Where does the time go. Credit to you for making a fine documentary. I'm now a subscriber :)
Wow, great work on this! Appreciate your level of detail and quality - thanks!
Where's our old narrator? ;_; Kidding, this is still amazing. Stellar work, as always!
WOW, the artwork and cinematography is just amazing. Game history taken to a whole new level.
Absolutely incredible and entertainingly insightful! Thank you for continuing to make these.
Man, these are great. The 3d rendering is also an incredible unique touch.
THE BEST THERE IS, WAS, AND EVER WILL BE... extreme quality as usual
Now i wanna see a making of Killer Instinct or Primal Rage.
I played Killer Instinct a ton when it was new the arcades, love that game. I'm planning to include a bit of KI in an updated DKC video as the 2 were intertwined.
@@strafefox awesome! Not sure but have you see this KI documentary: ua-cam.com/video/ks4eZoG94Vs/v-deo.html
@@SRC267 Yeah that was a cool documentary, especially loved Ken Lobb his stories.
@@strafefox Did you ever play Eternal Champions? I always thought the plot and characters were really interesting!
@@ochaco31 Yes sure, the concept and characters were really interesting. My first vs fighter on the Mega-Drive was Deadly Moves which in retrospect wasn't that good but I still had fun playing it with a friend :)
Im so glad I was apart of this era... great memories.
Yep we were so lucky, I will never forget the first time I laid my eyes on double dragon, shinobi, final fight , street fighter 2, mortal Kombat and the neo geo cabinet just to name a few.
@@danielnicholson6174 nothing like being at an Arcade with your homies hanging out chilling hearing music.
Wow, the renders and everything is incredible!
This seems like something that has been done by a massive team with a large budget.
Nice work!
Your videos are amazing and this one has to be the most amazing yet. Fantastic work as always 🥰
Awesome to hear! and big thanks for your support!
Thoroughly deserved, @@strafefox
oh boy, time to drop everything else and watch this
Deft got a new sub
Thank you for taking the time to make such a great video. I really enjoyed this.
Just found this chanel, the production/edition is really amazing, it shows how much care and dedication you put into making these. Instant subscribe!
Don’t need to watch the whole video to leave a thumbs up
I leave it as soon as I click the video.
It's been a little while since the last video, but the wait is always worth it. I get excited when I see that notification, I just know its going to be some quality content.
Thank you for making these. I admire your passion for high quality content
This was an excellent documentary. Thank you so much for making it.
Proof that good can come in 2020. Always so excited when I see a new one of these! 🥰
Always love the effort that goes into these. Your editing is legendary!
Always love seeing your videos!! Not only are they so incredibly well-produced, but they're incredibly well versed in research and information; so much stuff I never learned has come from these "The Making of ..." docs.
The production quality on this is amazing.
Excellent work!
Wonderful work! Thank you for this.
Another super-polished vid from Strafefox... just wow
Your production values go up and up from each video. Keep up the great work!
I didn't expect such quality. Keep up good work.
I love all of your videos, and this one is no exception. Immaculately professional, thoroughly researched, and delightfully insightful, as always. Thank you so much for the hours of enlightening entertainment.
I can sum up your presentation in a single gesture: *chef's kiss* Magnifique!
A nice way to start my Saturday , thanks.
I'm amazed at all the detailed tangents of information in your videos, which combined, gives the viewer so much more interesting stuff to consider, (and learn from!). Thanks!
Congratulations for this video. Beautiful work!
This is just one of the best Channel on UA-cam. Just like every single Video you Upload
High quality video, high quality information! ❤️ Thanks!
Been looking forward to this one. Brilliant job as always guys 👍
You did a great job covering a childhood classic such as this. I remember playing Street Fighter back in the 90s when I was a kid. Things such as Street Fighter always have a warm place in my heart as they remind me of the good times I had when I was younger.
I appreciate that and you just gained yourself a new subscriber. Looking forward to more content from you. Especially things covering the 90s and the early 2000s.
Amazing stuff! Man that game was ahead of its time, the art style and tight controls went unmatched for years!
Sick, sick first rate - all around - production value in these Docs! I love the history of gaming and art from the 80's and 90's. It is such a unique trifecta of, tech, art and business.
The production quality of this video in relation to the subject matter is phenomenal. Very well done!
How I didn't knew this channel before???
Loving all videos so far, going to watch all of them
The level of creativity and quality of the game is so high, with your documentary you can really understand why it became the phenomenon it was, you did a fantastic job of presenting it.
Just when I thought to myself "Man I could really go for another StrafeFox video!" BOOM! You drop this!?! I got a McDonald's breakfast meal on the way to me with a LARGE coffee AND a new fox video. Life is good man I'm not gonna lie to you. Also dude...the quality and effort you put into your videos is so inspirational. Looking at your work and using it as like a measuring stick is what helped me stand out on IG. I used you as a model basically. I was watching a Nipsey Hussle video and he recited a quote that said "The highest human act is to inspire." That's what you're doing so thank you bro! For all your effort and your talent.
That's so cool to hear! Thank you. And it's absolutely true, inspiring other people is the biggest complement I can get.
I'm glad I came across this by accident! As a game nerd, this is amazing! Keep up the incredible content! Both informative and visually stunning!
Thanks for putting this together. It was great.
Beautiful series, a great discovery for me, thank you!
One of the greatest games ever made, the first time I saw this at timezone Swanson street in Melbourne I was blown away, I've never seen a crowd so big around a single arcade cabinet!
This is absolutely superb quality and presentation. Well done!
I really love the 3D Backgrounds in some specific parts of your video when you are talking about each fighter!
Content creators could learn a lot from this guy. I've grown up alongside SF2 and already know the history, but this video gave me a deeper knowledge.
Awesome documentary!
Strafefox, you deserve 1 million subscribers!
Amazing quality. Your work is always a pleasure to watch.
Great job. These making ofs are very well done.
In all the years I've watched making / history of series, your content beats em' all. I remember when G4 tv first aired 'Icons', and since that time I missed stuff like that. Until I stumbled across your channel and was instantly hooked! Each video has brought back great memories from my childhood, but in a fresh perspective. Truly inspiring! The level of polish, information and details is incredible. Thank you for all your hard work!
The animation was really beautiful for this game...so detailed. I remember pausing in the middle of special moves to see the various intricacies of the move and facial expressions of the fighters. Must have spent hours playing around with this alone. Best game ever for me.
huge high quality in the visual presentation of this video. gj!!!! and thanks for such documentary. as a 90's teenager sf2 were one my fav past times of that time
There are many similar videos on yt talking about the same topic, but, yours is by far the best I've watched, just amazing!!!!!!!!
Excellent work as always! I'm especially liking the Mega-CD Final Fight soundtrack in the background.
Big fan here. Have you ever worked on videogame art?
Hm, never had that game on Mega CD (or, in fact, anything. I don't think I've even played a FF game. Even on emulators). I didn't even know there was a Mega CD version. Guess I missed out.
But I had Street Fighter 2 on the SNES, a Japanese copy, the boss characters still all had their original names.
Then I also got the Championship Edition on Mega Drive.
And then Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo on SNES.
3 versions of that one game.
My brother would later get the HD remake on PS3. So that's 4 versions for him.
Best version of final fight was the mega cd!
@@ianmcdonald3053 You can play the arcade Final Fight in MAME with the Sega CD music now. The Sega CD version is more or less obsolete.
Sensei otaking! it's nice to see you here :D
Ah, Street Fighter 2 the classic timeless master of all fighting games. Just like usually, Strafefox made another great video about classic game and never disappoints me.
This what I have heard about the development of Street Fighter 2 home console ports: Porting Street Fighter 2 to Mega Drive was problematic for Capcom due to Nintendo was trying to make sure home console ports of The World Warrior and Turbo are SNES exclusive. Luckily Nintendo did allow Champion Edition to be ported to other home consoles.
Sega also demanded Capcom to include gameplay content from SNES port of Turbo in Mega Drive release.
I’m dumbfounded by the quality, heart and soul you put on this. Bravo.
Wow, great video and insights...thanks for putting this together!
Was always curious how they made fighting games back in the day!
I hope some beat 'em ups get featured here as well someday! 😊
what a time to be alive. Despite all the technical restrictions, it looked like it would have been so fun and exciting to be on the original concept artist team
Really enjoy your delivery style, and very detailed. You did your homework. Subscribed! I was born in '84, and remember always playing this at my friend's house on his SNES. I always wanted to go to the arcade, but my parents never would let me.
I really would love to see you do a "the making of" because I would love to see the process you make to do a video like this.
Why this channel is not more popular and have more followers escapes me. Hope you continued to cover more games from popular to obscure. Legend of Legaia, R-Type, Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Metroid, MDK, whatever. 🤗
im still baffled by this, the channel definitely deserves more subs and recognition
What an amazingly well put together video, outstanding. Thank you.
This series is mind blowing, so well researched, presented, animated, written, and narrated. Really amazing and consistent work!
0:28 nice footage choice!
it's from the movie "Fast times at ridgemont high" awesome 80s classic :)
