- In today's video we look at the story of Ultra Street Fighter 2 : The Final Challengers for Nintendo Switch. Why were people so outraged by the latest edition of Street Fighter 2. The 2017 game with Violent Ken in it is bizarre.

"Violent Ken" was named after his brainwashed version in the SF2 movie where he was super aggressive. CAPCOM never named him it was actually an SNK game that he appeared first, as they were inspired by The SF2 animated Movie. He was also insanely popular amongst fans in MUGEN in the mid 2000s
Exactly. Not getting the hate on it.
Violent Ken wasn't, Evil Ken was lol
Evil Ken and Evil Ryu (the MUGEN versions) were the works of Reu. I remember having my mind blown by how cool and difficult they were.
@@smartinez281 I know Evil Ken was popular but "Sennōsareta Ken" AKA Violent Ken was also popular on MUGEN. That was the SVC Chaos sprites.
Didn't Bison(U.S) brainwashed Ken into fighting Ryu until Ryu snapped Ken out of it and they did a double hadouken finishing Bison off?? So they thought..
@@kenrickeason Yep.
Then he tried to run over Ryu with a big rig.
Chances are that it was so expensive because the Nintendo Switch had just released and there were no fighting games available for it, so Capcom capitalized on that very aggressively.
Or rather, very... _violently._
Fair enough. That said, why is it STILL so expensive?!?
Even *evilly.*
Even Shinnily
I recently bought it on sale.
@@Silverwind87same
It still sold Extremely well "In August 2017, The Wall Street Journal's Takashi Mochizuki reported that the game sold over 450,000 copies, selling more than what Capcom expected"
That said I am still mad that Capcom never followed through with their promise of porting it to other platforms if it sold well on the switch.
They never promised. The stated that "maybe" in the future
I loved ultra. I like the costume customizations, the cool cartoon art style that you can switch between, and all the inlcuded characters. I honestly dont know what was not to like.
Pricing probably
@@happinesstolerant That's pretty much one side of what it was. €60 for yet another version of a game that at the time was over 25 years old. I ended up picking it up for €10 in a bargain bin and as a long-time player of SF2 it was a tenner very well-spent, but I would never have dreamed of paying much more than that for it.
The other side was the question as to why Capcom didn't just port Ultra Street Fighter 4 or, specs permitting, Street Fighter 5.
@@jamyskis I wish I could pick that at a bargain bin.
This version is actually what we need more of. It is an actual port that bypasses software emulation. I love it. Having said that 30th anniversary plays great too.
Which one would you recommend more? This version or 30th anniversary collection?
@@jacobradabaugh6241 The 30th anniversary collection has 3rd strike, which personally is one of my favorite fighting games, however, the super turbo version on that is the original US arcade with the busted difficulty, you can probably get the anniversary collection used for very cheap tho
@@jacobradabaugh6241 Which one did you get? I have both and love both but I haven't played Ultra since 30th Anniversary came out. However, I grew up playing it in the arcade ever since the original SFII World Warrior came out so it's pure nostalgic bliss for me.
@@andrewrodriguez7310 I didn't end up getting either actually. My friend wanted to go halfsies on Mortal Kombat 1 so that was my fighting game this year
@@jacobradabaugh6241 Right on. Might have got it if the Switch version wasn't so weak. MK is definitely entertaining, but SF's gameplay has proven to be eternally rewarding.
I wish capcom make a release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max on every next gen console 😔
Sigh. That would be nice. I need that in my life.
Nah, we need a Street Fighter Alpha 3: Triple Upper.
Where Ingrid is replaced by the rest of the 15 street fighters from 3rd Strike alongside Yun.
I want to stop playing alpha 3 on my Saturn and ps2 alpha anthology as the preferred options and finally have that Zero 3 Max with the whole roster and all the modes 😢
I'd rebuy a 30th Anniversary type collection that included the console versions of those games with rollback netcode, for sure. Bonus of it would include the updated graphic edition of 3S.
I didn’t think the color palette option was gimmicky but pretty awesome honestly for ultra sf. I love that option customization options are never a bad thing.
I think I've bought every iteration at one point or another and this is my favorite. I don't care if it's broken, it's just too fun to get mad at.
The color editor, Evil Ryu and Violent Ken were amazing additions. People complain that the online is full of E.Ryu and V.Ken users but this is like the ultimate shoto VS shoto game. The matchup is fun as hell.
I have some great memories of Street Fighter 2 on the genesis and snes. Was my first ever fighting game, and got me into them later on in life.
If Capcom really wanted to justify that price point, Evil Ryu and Violent Ken was not the way to go. They wanted to add Shoto Characters, then Dan and Sakura should have been the "new" fighters. They have their own stages and theme songs, the Shoto animations are tweakable, and they are fan favorites. After all, Capcom was willing to tap into the CPS2 Engine code to tweak Evil Ryu and Violent Ken to fit inside Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo for Ultra Street Fighter 2, why stop there?
One thing that always looks odd in the HD remix and Ultra is that while the artwork is painstakingly redrawn in high resolution and characters look gorgeous, they still move as in the old game. That might be a plus because gameplay will be more similar to the original SF2, but I think the quality of sprites make the choppy animation stand out (animation of SF2 was stellar when it was released, of course)
Imagine these graphics with the smooth animation of SF3. That would be an Ultimate SF2!
@@pilouuuu o
If that was possible , that would be glorious.
@@pilouuuu Then the timing of moves/combos would be different due to the added animation frames to create that fluidity. It would be a different game, needing different balancing and updated combat design, which ironically would justify the higher price (and potentially attract new buyers to Switch for the novel experience).
That would have been impossible to add-frames without fucking up the gameplay.
@neruomir That wasn’t the point of this game.
Ultra Street Fighter 2 is probably my favourite iteration, due to a number of reasons:
1. The CPU A.I is not insanely hard like the US version of Super Turbo. The difficulty settings are what you get. If you want added tougher challenge, it’s there.
2. You can use the classic colours with Super Combos (I.e Ryu with white gi, red headband with Shinkuu Hadouken) ST you couldn’t do that unless you either use hacks.
3. Akuma is readily selectable as well as Shin Akuma and finally you also have Evil Ryu and Violent Ken.
4. The ‘lite’ control setting makes super combos much easier to pull off for different characters. Guile’s double flash for example and Evil Ryu and Akuma’s raging demon. It’s very tricky to execute
#2. Why was that?
@@davidwhatsthatabout7404 Are you referring to Super Turbo? I think the reason is because you can use ‘Old’ versions of the cast which is basically their iterations for Super Street Fighter 2 (non Turbo), when you select the Super version of the characters, they will be in their classic colours.
@@songoku9348 no I mean like why were the original colors omitted from super SF Turbo
@@davidwhatsthatabout7404 I have no idea, again I think it’s because you can select the Super versions who all have the original colours.
HD Remix is my favorite version of SF2, but Ultra is my second favorite.
So much of this is wrong.
SF4 was in development before the pitch for HD Remix. It's possible the success of the sloppy HF port on XBL encouraged them to make a new title, but it seems like SF4 was in the planning stages even before then.
HD Remix was largely a pitch from Backbone (likely with pressing by Sirlin) based on the large success of HF for XBL and Puzzle Fighter HD Remix. Capcom never took the initiative for the HD Remix project, although they tried to take credit for it after it blew up in popularity.
I was gonna comment the same thing about the SF4 segment.
Thank you the timeline is way off in relation to IV/HD remix and justifications are speculative at best. Pretty sure IV pushed the popularity for Hd remix the way I remember hearing about it and such. It was a passion project though!
My initial issue with Ultra SF2 (as you mentioned) was that it felt overpriced at the time (for what you were getting) and took advantage of the Switch launch; where owners of the console were desperately looking for any good games and variety. I bought it digitally on it's initial launch, but I wanted at least a SF Collection for the Switch launch (which in typical Capcom fashion; we got a year later on all platforms). It also didn't help that Capcom seemed to heavily imply that if this game didn't sell well; Switch owners would not likely get any more Capcom support as a whole (which really rubbed consumers the wrong way). ....
However, in retrospect; this version of SF 2 is the best and most well tweaked out of all the SF 2 games (specifically when playing with the classic graphics and music). It is much more forgiving in doing the moves, there are actually a bit more frames of animations, the timing of movements, jumps, spacing and just about every aspect of the core game itself; is very refined. Even the Netcode is pretty good compared to that found in the collection that came a year later! I did not notice all this at first, but only after I started playing it again later that year; it was a night and day difference. Still wished they added a true and rebalanced widescreen more (like it is when using the new graphics option) but this game really is a gem; despite the circumstances. It really is my favorite version (the classic mode specifically, the new default mode is good, but entirely different in it's balancing than the classic mode).
I always thought Violent Ken was a cool name. Ken's storyline is that he has captured all U.S. Martial Arts championships where there's a point system so he probably uses a 4th of his power, he's always shown restraint. So when brainwashed by Bison he became uninhibited... violent.
Nah, he should've been called PSYCHO KEN, being that he was under the influence of Bisons Psycho Power. Naming him "Violent" Ken, just makes it look like he snapped and started beating his wife because she didn't have his dinner on the table in a timely manner.😅
@@shinbakihanma2749😂
I’m gonna have to go ahead and say….
Go ahead and make an episode on “Violent Ken”.
Ever since seeing SF: The Animated Movie, and seeing the evil version of Ken, I had ALWAYS wanted to see that version of Ken in the game as well, with his own storyline.
SNK were the ones to push the “Violent Ken” name along, and still a character to make more appearances to my knowledge.
Actually, he has. It's a character documentary about violent Ken, he's got one on evil Ryu too
The first time Violent Me made an official game debut:
Street Fighter Alpha 3 during Ryu's last sub-boss fight. (That version is 100% lazy compared to SVC Chaos.)
I'm no competitive SF player, but I think Ultra is probably the best iteration of SF2. The price tag is FAR too steep (Maybe $30 would be acceptable in some cases, but $20-25 would fit better).
Its other issue is its locked to the Switch. Which makes it much less available to the public. If it was at least on Steam I'm sure there'd be more exposure.
I get why it was there initially, but like Tatsunoko vs Capcom before it the fact that those games aren't available elsewhere (except emulation) is a shame. Though I get that licensing may play a part.
As a Switch owner, I refuse to buy it. I would rather play it on my PS5 or PC. It would have been fine as a timed exclusive, but still not being on any other platform is silly.
I agree it should be ported elsewhere.
At this rate with there being so many revisions of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo there could be a collection based on just those games.
That said I would be happy with a PC / Steam port of SSF2HD Remix or Final Challengers
You definitely are not a competitive SF player if you think Ultra is the best iteration of SF2. In fact, that opinion would strongly suggest that you haven't a clue about SF2.
Ultra is terrible.
@@Eclipse2582 I hate the competitive scene I have been playing Street Fighter since it was released in the Arcades.
All that the competitive scene has done is suck the fun out of the game with the obsession with balance.
You guys live in an echo chamber where the result was Street Fighter V that removed the Arcade mode.
You all defended that and guess what the game didn't sell until they added it back 😋
I like Ultra Street Fighter 2. Glad to have it in my Switch library.
USF2 had a watered down version of Violent Ken as compared to the SvC Chaos version.
It's SFII, everyone is nerfed in that game to the point where we only have one super combo.
I personally loved Ultra SF 2 on the nintendo switch. Put in many hours and had a ton of fun.
For me, Ultra SF2 was the reason to buy a Switch! And even though it's on the SF 30th Anniversary Collection, SSF2T is stupid tough!
Good thing it goes on sale often. Super Turbo was my favorite Street Fighter game until Ultra. The only real problem I have with it is that it is way too difficult to perform the Raging Demon in this version. I can pull it off fine in every other version of Street Fighter, but for some strange reason it is much more difficult to do it in Ultra.
Literally Noone was outraged about this
Hearing "Ray-you" still kills me to this day. Nice video~
Who's outraged? This is the most cringe review I've ever watched. What's expensive? Were lucky that video games have not gone up in price like everything else in life. Just to go out to eat for two people cost more than this game.
This top hat guy whatever his name is doesn't understand that Capcom perfected Street Fighter 2 they don't have any competitions for Street Fighter 2 world warrior because all the Guile glitches or Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition because it's slow and not balanced or Street Fighter 2 Hyper Turbo not balanced either or even Super Street Fighter 2 New Challengers is slow... The most perfected version of Street Fighter 2 is Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in which it's not perfect but really close to being perfect ...this guy doesn't know what he's talking about all he's trying to do is make money with the commercials and the views that he gets from UA-cam
I mean, I could see why people were upset. full price for a game that's basically a moderately upgraded version of SSF2T: HD Remix with some stupid tacked-on motion control minigame? (I honestly didn't bother with it reviews said it wasn't much fun)
I will say if you can find it on sale for 20 the main game stuff is definitely worth playing around with I mean it IS basically SSF2T at its core, with both the HDR artwork/new remixes and the original sprites/music in 4:3, and the additional new characters are kinda fun to mess around with (although Violent Ken is stupid broken IMO definitely right up there with Shin Akuma) also I do like the new music far more than the OCR stuff in HD Remix honestly.
$40 wasn’t full price for many years, at best, it was full price, for the still at the time alive 3DS, but agreed, nowadays, its better to wait for one of its multiple sales on the eShop where its half off, then it’s worth that price. My most likely guess why it was $40, it also had a Physical run with retail copies.
Part of me still wants buy this tho
I never thought someone would still talk about this.
The internet is so full of hate. Gaming, including Nintendo as the brand that it is, owes so much to Capcom and SFII - more than many people realise. And Ultra Streetfighter II is actually an exceptional/if not THE best version/amalgamation of all the iterations of SFII from the 90's. I loved it. Worth every penny.
I’ll take 2D sprites over polygons any day for SF.
That and KoF! After two games, I still can't get into the series as I was with KoF13!
@@walterlucero5757 Exactly :-)
just not the hd remix ones, which are awful.
@@jrs4516 I love them! I love that Anime/Comic book art style!
I always wanted a remake of Streetfighter 1 with every character selectable, new moves, sprite based art style, and updated gameplay mechanic with things such as parrying and super combos etc
I really feel like the problem. that people had with ultra was valid, but it’s still a very good upgrade, especially with the new characters and better graphics.
This is how dlc was done back in the day.
always looking forward too yor videos every Thurs n Sun...Yeeeaaa
It's a shame this never came to PC.
I love that you're channel focuses on these niche stories about Street fighter. And everything retro-gaming. Awesome stuff.
#Capcom WE LOVE Ultra Street Fighter 2, please make a an switch exclusive remake of Street Fighter 3 and Alpha 3.
On the other hand, it would be very strange to fit a "new" character into such a legacy game.
After sitting on this a little longer, I had to add this…
I cannot officially verify this, but based on experiences in actively being in parts of creative media projects, I’ve always had this take on the naming.
The narrative of the naming “Violent Ken” rather than “Evil Ken”, Evil Ryu was already well established after being made official with the fact he became a player character in official SF game titles. Evil Ryu even has a fully fleshed background, and with the fact Satsui No Hado has a dark side, makes the “Evil” name more of a fit to add on to Ryu, as he has to accept into its evil intent.
Being that names already was in issue in their earlier issues, being the original 4 bosses in swapping for regional differences, it has to be sure it will fit and stand for times to come.
Now with the fact Capcom has never integrated an evil version of Ken, the games that same “Violent Ken” is without of a doubt based on the mind control of the movie, and SNK was well versed with that much of the title, and being they have the relationship with capcom, they got to have creative freedom to naming him how they want for that version.
Going “Evil” on the naming for Ken didn’t seem to have a good fit, as his transformation was not induced to accepting into the darkness of the Satsui No Hado, but rather forcing his Psycho Energy into him, and gaining access to controlling him how his wanted, in which, he wanted a very strong fighting mind puppet. He knew how strong Ken was, and was hoping him to take down Ryu being that they are the best of sparring partners with history.
Making Ken go overdrive with no mind control for himself would make him a pretty “violent” man….
That’s just my take I’ve always had.
I remember when I was a kid hanging in the arcades, for Streetfighter 2 Champion Edition there was a rumour going around that when the AI Ken was in his red outfit, he was more aggressive and was given the nickname Violent Ken.
I absolutely love this version of Street Fighter 2! At the time the Switch was badly in need of any Street Fighter Game so this game couldn't have come at a better time.
Actually:
Violent Ken is from Street Fighter the Animated Movie.
the only thing outrageous is not hearing @Lady Decade say " I L L E E E E E E G A L " at 2:34
Capcom didnt even know that the head of the SF2 team was working on the championship edition so can't say they had anything to do with that. Plus those upgrades were for arcades and ported to home consoles as unenviability to give the home audience to own the arcade versions they loved. If they didn't keep updating the game back in the day the game would of failed in the arcade the home market wasn't the driving force at that time...
I personally love Ultra Street Fighter II. In my opinion it is the best version of SFII as it’s really well balanced. Throws used to do stupid amounts of damage in SFII iterations until this one came out. Also I affectionately call the Way of the Hadou mode Virtual Ryu mode. Also in my opinion the graphics for “Virtual Ryu” look a bit more like SFIV when it comes to Ryu himself.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix for PS3 was sweet AF...and it only cost $15!
As always your Street Fighter skills are strong! Love watch your combos that I never seen before.
To be fair, at least Capcom is putting some effort into game preservation, re-releasing their classics on modern platforms, unlike other companies.
Preserving and re-releasing onto modern platforms is what Capcom Fighting Collection is for.
Nobody ask the company for ULTRA Street Fighter II, most fans asked for Capcom vs. SNK 3.
HDremix, "We balanced Akuma so he is fair, balanced and not banned." A few weeks later..... "Akuma is even more broken than before we messed with him, he's banned" LOL
It's pretty simple: people can only get excited about Street Fighter II so many times. I love SFII, but it's been re-released over 20 times.
You do know this game added three characters right you got violent Ken, Evil Ryu, and the Hidden character shin akuma or Shin Goki if in Japan so the character count in this versions actually 20 not 19
Ultra Street Fighter 2 is, unironicly, my favorite version of SF2 ❤❤❤
HDRemix is hands down the best version of 2T, and I really wish they'd bring it back on pc, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and I know many others who would as well
Ultra SF 4 is still my fave SF game. 44 fighters. Great graphics. Awesome control...no terrible monitiztion ala SF 5. Ultra SF 4 is the pinnacle of SF imo.
honestly, currupted Ken would have made more sense lore wise for V.Ken's name
considering that he's Ken but brainwashed by Bison
When they added Street Fighter to the Fighting Compilation that came out this year, I felt that was another kick in the nuts given they had other fighting games in their library that could have easily been a good replacement for Street Fighter after making 3 more Street Fighter games within 6 years of each other.
“Why did Capcom charge $40?” because they knew they could get away with it.
Why did I buy it, because I was desperate to play a fighting game on my Switch in 2017 😅
I actually found USF2 to be my favorite version of the game. It added some content and modes I wish was in more games.
But I can understand why people don't like the game. It's a rather pricey port, I feel the price was made because of the art gallery.
As said gallery is basically pages from one of capcoms most expensive art books that can be bought at the same price.
I bought SF2 on the snes from Fenwick in Brent Cross for £65 back in 1992.
£35 30 years later is a steal…
I had street fighter 2 Turbo!! I played it for years, finished it on hard quite a few times! Ken was my favourite, but I could play them all! Brings back great memories!
The final challengers still plays much better than the collection as it is a native port.
The collection versions are emulated and the Switch version of those games have the most latency/input lag of any version of those games
It would be sooo cool if they made SF1 characters playable there with older designs remade for the game, that'd be sick!
I bought ultra 2 over the summer and it’s amazing people online still go at it to this day
I love this version of street fighter!
I’ve got every Street fighter and I consider Ultra Street Fighter 2 the definitive edition for newcomers to the SFII. Hyper is great but it’s more for competitive players.
Prior to viewing the video, I can answer that right away..........people suck and constantly need to be vocally angry about the stupidest crap.
Yeah that sounds about right.
One on one fighting occurred before Street Fighter, there was Karate Champ and Yie Ar Kung-Fu in 1984. Actually Yie Ar Kung-Fu was the first one on one fighter to include an energy bar, special moves, and a female character, Star the first lady of fighting games.
the way the had it all prepared to milk it for 30 years is GREAT! they deserved to milk it 30 more years
What capcom needs to do is re-release all of the VS series games.
It also needs to be mentioned that in the original SF2, Chun Li didn't have a fireball move, that was introduced in the first upgrade, this was also one of the changes from the original
Never heard of such outrage. I love this one.
This guy is an idiot

I love Ultra Street Fighter 2, but I wish lazy Capcom would give the game an update patch. I want the update patch to fix Violent Ken and Evil Ryu. By the way, you forgot to mention Shin Akuma/Shin Gouki. He is a hidden character in the game. Like Violent Ken and Evil Ryu, Shin Akuma/Shin Gouki is a broken fighter. I also want the update patch to allow Shin Akuma/Shin Gouki to be playable online.
I really wish they would update it for the reasons you mentioned and maybe a way of punishing rage quitters. Monthly leaderboards and tournament modes
Yeah. There should have been more characters. It would have been cool for all the characters who never were playable in street fighter 1 to be in the roster.
I have no problems with the same game being released on multiple systems. I don't particularly want to be locked down into have to buy system X to play game Y, although for first or second party developed games I can understand. But I don't think third parties should be locked down to a particular system. Imagine if Squaresoft were allowed to release their Final Fantasy or Mana series on the Sega Genesis in addition to the SNES. Even though my loyalty was to Nintendo back in the day, I could have had more of an appreciation for the Genesis if I could see those games on it. I did have a lot of respect for it seeing the SF2 games on it. Shame on you Nintendo for locking Capcom into an exclusive on the first release of SF2. Oh well, at least Capcom had the wisdom to work around that by releasing slightly different versions with the following iterations on the SNES and Genesis so not to break any legal contracts with Nintendo (as far as I understand).
I'm playing Ultra SF2 for free on emulation😁
Hyper SF2 is still my favorite.
Ultra SF2 introduced me to pvp fighting games. I played super for the snes on Wii VC but just arcade mode. Was probably the weirdest option to get me into fighting games, but it worked
Violent Ken is "Brainwashed Ken" from the Street Fighter II animated movie, which inspired the version we see in SVC Chaos.
I wish Way of the Hadou got a VR release. Honestly, as cheesy as this mode is, it would still be vastly superior to the Halo Recruit VR on windows mixed reality.
The SF2 port on Virtual Boy is amazing, and some of the best 3D on the platform. It's unfortunate capcom didn't do an official release, but I doubt it would have looked as good
They should've put in Peaceful Ken.
Wouldn't that be normal Ken? Or are you talking about the version of Ken that doesnt fight and is a stay at home Simp dad that lets Eliza go on dates with her boyfriend? 😆 😂😆 😂
@@Old_Man_Jay
No, that's Capcom trying not to make me look like a bad@ss through every ending im in.
I wish they'd stop, my personal and private life has nothing to do with the lore in general.
I mean, I quit Capcom after they released another version of sf4 after they specifically said they wouldn't. I can emulate the old games. I'm good.
A lot can be said about DLC, but I’d say this is one area in which DLC is definitely an improvement over what came before, rather than rereleasing the same game full price over and over again, with minor adjustments and additions.
I bought it on Switch when it eventually went on sale for 50% off. Super Turbo in the Anniversary Collection has a broken arcade mode that's insanely hard!
Same thing on the xbox smh
Don't know anyone who complained about ultra sfii's pricing. Great game
I love having this for my switch. It was one of the first games I bought. Even bought the 30th anniversary and capcom fighting collection. Would love a remaster of the Dark Stalkers series.
This guy made a 18 min video just to say that the game is expensive...
You forgot that Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo, and Super Street Fighter II are available as DLC to Capcom Arcade Collection on Switch for $1.99 each. And Hyper Street Fighter II for Capcom Arcade Second Collection for $3.99.
I just picked this up second hand today. Call it the collector in me, but I do enjoy it. It was “more of the same”. It is really an amazing game, maybe revisions in this case was the way to go, not many games can pull off the “revision” card. I feel a game needs to be great and significant to justify this practice, and true it is “lazy” but the safer bet
AaaaaaEee❤😂😂😂😂😂❤😂❤😅
❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉😮😮
I wish final challengers add the levels from the GBA game's
And made it a digital option on other platforms.
It’s just so expensive even today. But damn I do wasn’t those hd graphics.
You basically said all the points I was angry about also in one video lol. The switch exclusivity, the price, the missed opportunity of adding totally new characters, the balance, and lack of content...
I gotta be honest...I'm a long time fan and subscriber, who's had a good 5 or 6 months away from UA-cam...but God DAMN!! Have I just realised how much I've missed this channel in particular. Top quality work as always my brother... I doff my cap Sir.
In fairness the SF Anniversary collection were arcade builds so they were stupid difficult
The only games SF30th were missing were SF Alpha 2 GOLD, SF Alpha 3 UPPER, HYPER SFII, and Pocket Fighter.
I thought the collection had 12 titles the topic of this video not included. I have that collection and don't have this one that everyone hates, but often consider.
13 in the Switch version due to Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle being included.
Nostalgia is a powerful selling tool , this is one of Ca$hcom’s most successful series . This series always sells well for them.
I wonder what would happen if Street Fighter 3 gets this treatment of having a super HD version with the last batch of characters released and be playable online like Final Challengers.
I remember when Evil Ryu and Violent Ken were pretty trendy. Reminds me of myself and a friend of mine who decided to call ourselves "Chocolate Chaos" and "Vanilla Violence."
I’m I the only one pissed that he is pronouncing Ryu’s name wrong?!?!
I would consider My self as a Street Figher fanatic but over the years Capcom have been doing the same thing over countless times.
I do have most of many games over different consoles through out the years, I enjoy them nostalgically but I've always noticed that
Capcom would make "just another Street Fighter" game & always seemed to get away with selling them under the guise of a "Capcom VS
/Battle Royale" tittle which you'll think Capcom should diverse the line-up immensely. This leads to whether Capcom own the rights to
the games/characters or are the owned by different companies. When it's Street Figher related we all know part of the hymn sheet to sing
from, when Capcom related mix it up more.
I saw a second hand cartridge at my local gamestop about 4 months ago. I went to ask the cashier if there was an error because it had a 55€ pricetag. My interest died real fast.
Last year they were going for about $87 USD complete and $65+ USD loose !
Problem with 30TH Anniversary Edition is it was all the arcade versions, bs AI and all
What Capcom don't understand is that some of us old-retro players have had enough of being bumped, paying for old games (we have bought multiple times) for new/high prices. Why would we want to purchase old roms again and again, just on a new system? As said in the video, the update of x2 characters being slighlty changed in their move-set is not enough, I mean, you can get that for free (if you know where to look) by going on MAME and playing SF2 Rainbow Edition, now thats ah hell of ah good game, including all the other modded games in the Alpha series.
The video is right, Capcom is so lazy. Take SFA3 for example, on the PS1, you got a mode called 'World Tour Mode' to gain perks and mod your fighter, that was an amazing addition to the game, even the franchise, putting more creative control in the players hands. I have never seen this mode return in any SFA3 reboot and each reboot the character selection is like the most basic version, never adding the secret characters. Its sad. OK for this new SF on the Switch they added x2 against 1 fights which I think I first saw in SFA1, but they could be doing alot more with this old title. Its almost as if you have to wait on the fans to create a fun modded version of a game rather than the developers themselves. Its not as if the feedback isn't there. Sad times.
