Checked your bedrail clearance with the new cover? Some tips on the Bedrug install, done a few of them now. When you get it, and zip it together, put it fully in place and let it rest a day or two so that it relaxes and the wrinkles come out, especially the floor piece since it is tightly rolled. Remove the anchors from the bed and any lights or sockets. Once you have the liner fully installed then go back and cut out the openings to match the lights and outlets, and reattach all the anchors. Now is the important step for a super clean install, where the lights go in, taper the foam backing so that the lights and sockets are tight and have very little pressure on them from the bedrug. That 7 way plus TPMS/Camera socket comes fully out and unplugs from behind, so it makes it really easy to remove and make it look like a factory install. Also when removing the anchors and reattaching them through the Bedrug, it secures the bedrug better than anything. One other tip, for Northerners who drive through salt y roads in the winter, spray some WD-40 every few weeks on the zipper at the tailgate in about a foot back to prevent it from getting corroded, especially if the tailgate piece is zippered on, or you may find it seized from salt corrosion. The WD-40 will flush the salt out.
Aluminum doesn't rust but it does still corrode and yes moisture gets trapped underneath those rugs if you have organic material overtime that builds up either rugs if it's wet it will start to stink and mildew especially with a tonneau cover on it that's going to hold the moisture in. as good as that rug looks I still much prefer Rhino Lining or Line-X
Thanks for sharing these upgrades! We are looking at upgrading trucks soon as we are riiiiiiight at the weight limit of our F-150! It’s so awesome to see the aftermarket upgrade options in the F-450. Thanks again!
In 2013 I went with a spray on Rino Liner, works great and still looks like new. As for the Tonneau over I went with Pace Edwards, it’s electric remote operated with a safety pull strap inside, couldn’t be happier with those choices.
Great video. Also, you have the perfect RV'er song at the end. "Show You My World" by Upstate, perfect expression of my soul and apparently yours. Even though my wife and I are part-timers seeing and showing our world is our dream.
Tom...something to think about doing, as I seen your propane bottle in your bed on your new bed rug. Get some auto door edge protector and put it on the bottom lip of the propane bottle to help prevent premature wear on your new rug.
I own that same B&W Companion hitch. I agree it is rock solid and a great hitch. I'm very confident in the hitch and have never had any issues hooking up, unhooking or towing. It is a solid hitch.
@enjoythelife if you haven't done thus yet the trailer plug in the back you could remove the plug assembly and refit it over the bedrug. It would make for a cleaner look as the outlet has a larger flange than the hole you cut
We had a 2500 gmc with a bed rug and was bullet proof pallets of rock engine blocks with oil cleaned up great no rust 2007 still going. Now a 2021 ram 3500 dully bed liner and bed rug. Northern Lite truck camper.
I got Bedrugs in my 2011 and 2012 Ford Transit Connects. They sell them with a rug or a vinyl feel as I have both. They are awesome!! Very easy on the knees, things don't slide around, adds sound deadening and a little insulation. I'm a courier and haul things all the time. My one bedrug is about 4yrs old. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Logan! Your sense of humor , sleeping in the truck bed . Okay, it WAS funny! Our truck has the spray on liner. I want a rug too now because that bed liner can scratch up and is rough on the body. It also gets soooo hot it's hard to unload items in summer. Thanks for the video , this is not a product I will have to twist arms to get hubby to buy!
We had an F450 King Ranch 4X4, and definitely put rear mud flaps on, to keep the rocks off of anything I was towing. Yes, the tanau cover looks great on the truck, as a buddy just added one to his F150 and loves his as well!
Did similar upgrades to our 2020 F250. Got a low profile, shotgun latch toolbox instead - in theory our tonneau cover will butt right up to it. Had similar 'fun' cutting the holes for the puck system, but the B&W slipped right into place.
Suggestion for your LECTRIC bikes. I don’t know if there is the clearance under the truck cover, but we use black construction tubs from Lowe’s to put our bikes in. This lets us slide the tubs saving wear and tear on the bikes and underlying carpet. We’re moving the tub with the bike in it, not yanking on the bikes to move them.
Nice upgrades Tom! Love the “finished” look of that hardtop. And what’s that outtake of Chad? Looks like f450 fever is still alive and still just as contagious.
We’re are you all spending the winter, well for us were going to have one cold winter here in Ontario Canada..and love the teneau cover and all the next toys for the truck,,how’s Logan doing, glad he’s with you,,
The truck bed liner is some kinda nice...if I had a truck like yours, I’d get one in a New York second. Great protection for the truck bed...eliminates scratches/scrapes and keeps the bed looking new. You did a great installation. Impressive. Very nice.
Hi Tom, I did not see how the tool box was secured to the truck? Also would have liked to have seen the tool box opened with the tonneau cover installed. Keep the video's coming.
One thing to note about window tinting...Laws vary from state to state in regard to "vision reducing material" applied to automotive windows. In Missouri it is necessary for the tint on the windshield and windows on either side of the driver must be minimal. Had tinting installed over in Kansas City Kansas (still a Missouri resident) and cost me $500.00 in traffic fine for too dark in those locations. Also, another $200.00 to correct the tint on these as well. Lesson learned!!! Ken
Great video as usual Tom! 👍 Thanks for sharing with everyone. I use a window reflector too. It is the pop open version (like those self opening tents). Just a twist collapses it. You might want to look into one. They are super easy to store and install. Cheers
I'll be installing a Bedrug Bed Mat in my new truck when it comes in, and will need to cut the holes for the Gooseneck and pucks. I'm thinking a glass pickle jar as a guide with a razor knife will allow for a nice clean cut. Thouhts?
Wish you guy's had video everyday Lol. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for your time and sharing your experiences. Hope To cross paths with y'all at some Rv park one day. I've been watching your vids since the start. Logan nice editing brother.
Love your channel I have been watching for a while but just now subscribed . That new truck is awesome, I love ford trucks. My wife and I camp all over NC mountains we love here. Have a Blessed journey
I love my tonneau cover (exact same as yours). It doesn't improve mileage, but it looks slick and does an excellent job of keeping out the rain. The company's support is great if you have any issues, too. I also have a Decked unit. These two play well with each other, and I can take it out when I use my 5th wheel.
Nice set up, I would like to have seen how the tool box opens with the bed cover. I need to start a channel so I can start getting free stuff from etrailer instead of buying from them.
I 1000% agree about the tint. For some reason my F450 seems to be a greenhouse compared to the F350 I had...it's the same interior but couldn't stand getting into a 150 degree truck any more lol and driving with the sun beating in was getting old. I plow snow with this truck too so I still needed to see at night so I went with 20% on the driver and passenger front windows and 12 or 15% on the rear side windows and rear window. I know this is an older video and you might have done this by now but I've heard its a law that you have to have mud flaps on the rear of a dually. I put Weathertech no drill ones on and they match the front OEM one's perfectly.
Absolutely love the upgrades to the truck. The cover you installed is exactly the same kind I have on our 2014 Sierra Denali. Been on there for 7 years and still looks good!
Spray in liner better protection then install a heavy duty rubber mat, which can be removed to clean the bed of the truck. The company that made the rug supposedly for the 450 should know about the anchors and electric connection and give you the perfect fit. There are the low profile tool boxes that fit on top of bed rails and can reach the latches with cover. Now you have to pull back cover to access tool box.
Just wondering how you will open the toolbox with the tonneau cover folded up. Seems like the folded cover will interfere with the toolbox opening. Nice clean install.
Good work Tom, I just did a similar install on my new 2020 RAM 1500, I installed a Better Built SLE toolbox (like JD and Chad) and Access tonneau cover. I can access my toolbox without opening the tonneau cover. I also installed a DU-HA storage under my rear seat, check it out. Next... Husky mud flaps.
Tom I like your videos because you can tell that you don’t always know what you are doing but you are willing to give it a shot. But please tell Logan to wear some better shoes if he is going to help you move things like the hitch or toolbox. I kept seeing in my head his toes getting squished. On another note if you haven’t gotten any Velcro containment blocks I highly recommend them. They stick unbelievably well to bedrugs and are relocatable just by peeling them up. I’ll include a link. I noticed on the end by the tailgate it looks like you will need to add some Velcro to hold the edges a little better, and for a cleaner look around the RV plug you could unbolt the plate that holds it from the truck. Pass it through the hole in the bedrug and bolt it back over it. You won’t see and edges of the rug, and you will have no chance of anything getting in behind the rug while you are towing. Here is that amazon linke for the containment blocks www.amazon.com/Multipurpose-Cargo-Organizer-Storage-Available/dp/B06VVPWSXM
Great job Tom! And it looks great! You had us cringe when you were working with that knife😣! We are in the market for a new fifth wheel hitch let us viewers know how you like it please!!! Thanks again guys stay safe👍🇨🇦
There’s a much better way to do the holes for the fifth wheel, wish I could send you some pictures. You can actually use the factory trim rings with the bedrug and it gives you a seamless finish. Also you should’ve removed the factory hooks and bolted them in over the bedrug.
@@harley9218 Nothing's free. Filming, narrating, editing, and producing a video that follows, in-detail, a 1 hour+ unboxing, installation, and overview of a product in an objective way is actually far more difficult than many people would think. This video likely took them 2+ hours to film (filming slows down an installation like you wouldn't even know), plus another 15+ hours to edit (could be slightly off there). That's far from free. Many UA-camrs choose to purchase their own products even when they are offered for free to avoid the filming/editing obligation. Just an FYI
I will be interested in a follow up review after you have had the bed rug for a while. How easily it will come out and go back in. Seems inevitable that it will get water under it and then take a long time to dry out, if at all.
Do you need to completely remove the tonneau cover to open the storage box? If / when you update or follow up this video, please show how you get into the box. Thank you.
@@ashleejones1690 looked back again - not quite what I want to see. I would like to see these things: 1 - tool box open with the tonneau cover still in place 2 - trailer connected for a travel day (tool box closed) 3 - tool box open with trailer connected (like if I need tools for roadside emergencies)
Great job!!!, Those were all very good upgrades!, Unless you're in Alaska you pretty much have to have your windows tinted!! You came a long ways as an owner since I subscribed and started watching your videos next thing you know you're going to be servicing that super duty yourself and saving tons of money!!! Always look forward to seeing your new videos, keep up the good work!!!
Thank for your great videos which inspired us to also purchase a Grand Design. We have plans in the very near future of beginning a split full-time RVing with live-aboard on our Sea Ray.
It looks like you are having too much fun. Remove your electrical plug pull it through the rug and bolt it back in. To hide the cut and secure the rug. Looks good.
Wow! Didn’t realize trailer had stuff for cars too! Ordering new seat covers and floor mats for my 2007 Honda Element. Will be quite the upgrade when I get my RV. Wish I could flat tow it, but can’t. ☹️
Great up grades bed rug look awesome what about the Tonneau does it stay in place while towing . I’m in the process of buying the F-450 been doing my homework and found that truck has a tight turning radius better than all the others and I love a white truck. Great video thanks 🙏 🇺🇸👍🏻
Was that a "Logan's Run" Production? Whoever it was, they got a lot of good "perspective" shots, and edited them together with a nice pace and pleasant background music; a visually appealing install video; I enjoyed it! Continued joy and success!!
Great additions! One suggestion is to use 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol to clean the bed. Less water content means faster drying. The catch may be finding it! What are you doing to secure the tool box so it does not slide and damage something?
My fuel economy goes down when I put my tonneau cover on. I did some reading, and it is because the truck creates a bubble with the wind that goes over the cab and into the closed tailgate.
I once read the most fuel efficient way to drive a truck is with a rigid bed cover covering the back half of the bed. It creates a stronger vacuum to help push the truck along. Totally counterintuitive.
@@josephmcclary9667 hmmm. I know I did get better economy in my old truck with a topper on. I've never heard about the rigid cover increasing it. I'll have to look around and see if I cam find that. Seems odd
Hi Tom as always great video! Question for you regarding your new bed cover. Have you experienced any issues seeing the hitch and king pin while hooking up to your fifth wheel when the cover is folded up? Also what about clearance between the fifth wheel and the folded cover in tight turns? Thanks in advance.
Very much needed upgrades for any F-450 owner. While it looked to be a bit of work getting the bed rug installed, the end look was amazing and it actually looked comfortable to crawl around on. That tonneau cover also looked much better than the flimsy one we have on our truck. I’m going to try and sell the one I have now-about 1 year old-and see about replacing it with one of those hard top covers. I’m hoping to find a quarter fold model as that would make it easier to access things below the front panel. just be aware that when it’s folded up into towing mode, the gap between the top of the cover and the bottom of the fifth wheel is much less, which could hinder driving through some deeper ditches or driveways. JD from BTBRV mentioned that in one of his videos.
@@showcasecharlie11 I understand about your comment on the tool box height. I like the shorter toolbox Tom used and will be looking at them too. In my comment I was referring to the tonneau cover height when it’s folded up. JD had mentioned that height factor when he was talking about why he got the shorter roll-up cover over getting a fold up model with his new lower toolbox with the shotgun handles. In our case the folded flimsier cover adds 3 inches of height and if I was turning into any entrance with a steep incline then it could become an issue where the two (cover and fifth wheel) might touch. Towing straight typically wouldn’t be an issue with the added height, but making sharp turns could be in some instances.

I see rust in the future under that bed cover...similar to a Bedliner. I would get it sprayed instead...just my 2 cents...

Ken
I used LineX on mine. great protection for bed and looks great. use tote bins to keep my straps/tools secure and organized. Backflip bed cover
Great video as usual Tom! 👍 Thanks for sharing with everyone. I use a window reflector too. It is the pop open version (like those self opening tents). Just a twist collapses it. You might want to look into one. They are super easy to store and install. Cheers
You did a great job Tom
I'll be installing a Bedrug Bed Mat in my new truck when it comes in, and will need to cut the holes for the Gooseneck and pucks. I'm thinking a glass pickle jar as a guide with a razor knife will allow for a nice clean cut. Thouhts?
Wish you guy's had video everyday Lol.
Enjoy your videos. Thanks for your time and sharing your experiences. Hope To cross paths with y'all at some Rv park one day. I've been watching your vids since the start. Logan nice editing brother.
Thanks Bobby! Hope to see you on the road too!
Thanks for sharing these installs...
Love your channel I have been watching for a while but just now subscribed . That new truck is awesome, I love ford trucks. My wife and I camp all over NC mountains we love here. Have a Blessed journey
As always, good information. Thanks!
I agree sure must be nice, also the electric bikes they were given.
AWESOME MODS On Your New Truck & What A Truck SO SO NICE
Smart choice with the bed rug
You guys stay safe and safe travels
Absolutely love the upgrades to the truck. The cover you installed is exactly the same kind I have on our 2014 Sierra Denali. Been on there for 7 years and still looks good!
I have that same cover. 2012. Still going strong.
I bought a 2105 F150, ordered a Mustang 2.0 cover the next day. Might as well protect and hide stuff from the outset. Sill works like new.
In AZ in the summer time you need to have tint & window shades as temps outside get above 115
Love you guys and your video! Stay safe and continue your journey!
Can you open the tool box up . looks like the lid sits under the lip of the side rails.
Beautiful truck!
Very good video. We got the same hitch. It works great. I love how detailed you guys are. Your son is a great add to your videos.
Here is that amazon linke for the containment blocks

Beautiful!! I’m so jealous!!!
Nice editing. Great to see Tom relaxed!
Great job Tom! And it looks great! You had us cringe when you were working with that knife😣! We are in the market for a new fifth wheel hitch let us viewers know how you like it please!!! Thanks again guys stay safe👍🇨🇦
The F450 is a Beast
Tom is correct, I actually slept in the back of my truck the last 2 nights while camping with my son's boy scout troop. Love my bed rug.
There’s a much better way to do the holes for the fifth wheel, wish I could send you some pictures. You can actually use the factory trim rings with the bedrug and it gives you a seamless finish. Also you should’ve removed the factory hooks and bolted them in over the bedrug.
I love ETrailer. The BEST Customer Service there is. Great products too. Fast Shipping.
Agreed. But I would like them more if they sent me free stuff to "try".
Just an FYI
Cool stuff,looks Great !!!
Sweet looking truck now
I will be interested in a follow up review after you have had the bed rug for a while. How easily it will come out and go back in. Seems inevitable that it will get water under it and then take a long time to dry out, if at all.
Do you need to completely remove the tonneau cover to open the storage box?
If / when you update or follow up this video, please show how you get into the box.
Thank you.
If you watch the part where he has to use the key to get the cover to close all the way you can see it😁👍
@@ashleejones1690 looked back again - not quite what I want to see.
I would like to see these things:
1 - tool box open with the tonneau cover still in place
2 - trailer connected for a travel day (tool box closed)
3 - tool box open with trailer connected (like if I need tools for roadside emergencies)
Sheri, there are some really cute sunshades for out jeeps too
I also live in Florida. Had my windows tinted including the windshield although not dark, can't really tell it except for a sunny day.
You should definitely get some mud flaps to keep rocks from hitting your camper while towing. Love following your channel and your journey.
Love your videos, thank you so much. You guys are wonderful.
Thank for your great videos which inspired us to also purchase a Grand Design. We have plans in the very near future of beginning a split full-time RVing with live-aboard on our Sea Ray.
we added a bed rug to our ford ranger as well as a revolver bedcover .
You were lucky to find the alcohol. It's hard to find any up here in Maryland. Especially anything over 70 percent.
Thank you for the video. Have a blessed day.
Good one - surface prep is king with any adhesives.
Will the tool box open with the tonneau cover on? Look like the rails are in the way.
I wouldn't be able to see the B&W Companion hitch in my F450 with a fold-up cover so I got a good retractable tonneau cover instead.
Great job on the install Tom looks really good. Love you guys channel keep up the good work
Great up grades bed rug look awesome what about the Tonneau does it stay in place while towing .
Dee zee tailgate assist is a MUST!!
That was his higher profile toolbox, thats he bought a lower profile one.
We love the videos... and tom that truck is looking sweet !!. Greetings from Oklahoma guys .
Looks great I need to get a tonneau cover like that!!
I went with the BackFlip brand...very similar and has held up awesome for 2 years so far. looks brand new
I keep a gas can in the bed of my truck, what about static with a bedrug?
Great job. Let me suggest a Tailgate Assist Shock.
Nice video. Cheers
Truck looks good
My wife and I love your channel!
Thank you! 😊
Nice set up, look forward to seeing how everything holds up in the future!
spray in bedliner is much easier and u don't have to worry about it lifting and flying out of truck but thevrug is easier for kneeling
Love the bed rug.
Looks like you are at Lake Neshonoc again.
Spray in bedliner will avoid the rust you will have in the future from the grit under the rug rubbing off the paint in your bed.
That looks like a 3day job for me to do but the being able to be on the knees with out pain sounds good.
Nice job. It looks great
