I built my barndominion pretty much by myself also. 4 1/2 years later I’m finished. A person gets such satisfaction. The key is to have a dream and a daily goal. Lots of hours but well worth it. Looks like my style of build.
Unbelievable editing , your story is really down to earth , what you show me on u tube , I am in awe we need more people like you , down to earth with a pinch of salt , wishing you the very Best .
I loved watching this from start to finish. I would be extremely grateful to have the opportunity to build something like this for my family and self one day. I’ll get there!
WOW! what an accomplishment! Great Job. I'm a retired contractor, and I really liked the compressed version of your build. I followed much of how and why you did it the way you did. I hope one day, I can do the same. You certainly don't need a gym membership when you build homes. You should be very proud of your new home. Congrats! Dave
Well, all that to show your dedication, hard work, and truly the love that you have of bringing forth your vision, just beautiful !! As a veteran and retired heavy equipment Master Mechanic, you just showed me how my shop would be like. I'll be lookin for other builds that you post. Blessings
Love video's like this. This teaches us who dont know how to do thing's the way forward. I built my 6x10 shed by myself at 58 yo, and this is grand scale to that, but still i learn from watching. Thank you. I love my tools.
You and your wife are a true inspiration thank you for posting this video you guys have given me the nudge ive needed to start and build my motorcycle business
What an awesome project and job. I've been watching this since the beginning and super grateful that you've shown us what and how you did this. My hats are off to you! Thanks a bunch!
I am almost done building the same kind of building. It has been quite a experience. My family has been in trades for longer than ice been alive so we just kinda winged it not really thinking anyone else was doing it too. Lots of lessons learned along the way and it will be an amazing space with a car hoist, in floor heating, washroom with washing machine, big wood boiler, tons of storage, well lit, and vaulted 16ft ceilings. So cool to see the same concept done different. My total cost is aproaching 50k USD with another 10 to go. Thanks for the video.
Cool to hear that you're building something similar -- good idea on the hoist! I started out not know about similar buildings, then found a few on UA-cam as well
Here’s the million dollar question?? What did you spend on the whole project? You nailed it both in the condensed video and showing it can be done from a DIY standpoint.
Thanks for the encouragement! I don't save receipts but I'm thinking it was in the 20-30k range ... some second hand materials helped keep the cost down
@metaspencer this is a beautiful build for only 20-30k that is awesome and very inspiring I'm hoping that some day I can do something like this as well
Отличный проект. Очень приятно посмотреть на хорошую работу рукастого мужика, который решает строительные вопросы с применением смекалки и подручных материалов.
My favourite type of CAD cardboard aided design ❤ I plan on buying about an acre of farmland and doing something similar. My middle school was a container house and I've always wanted to replicate something similar but obviously better.
I remember, the ground crew did help you out quite a bit on this one. 😁 And it turned out looking great. I hope y'all get many years of memories in this barn. Y'all take care and may Father YHVH bless y'all, brother.
High tech engineering, I love it! The end result is pretty impressive. Oh, and I’m sure you already know, but Melissa is definitely a keeper. Another great video!
I was stoked when I saw this video come out, great vision and great knowledge to make it happen! I didn't see the clean up crew in this video, they must only be on the tree jobs. Badass Spencer!
I've been looking at container garage video's over and over with no satisfaction at all and this is the best one yet. This is exactly the one I've been looking for. Thank You, Jim L PS Your just kidding about the CAD plans right???
??? 45+ years ago used a 2 1/2" pipe off of the cutting edge of the loader. brought back to the corners with light chains. Worked well for lifting the truss up to for the pole barn. I did much the same the thing for my covered area for temporary area. Except I the bucket had welded hooks on the corners.
Looks great, finished very nice. I'm working on plans for almost exact same layout. But I'm thinking two container high (if I can make it work) and windows on the stub wall just below the top roof junction.
Literally thee most beautiful self made home I've seen in a long time. Love love love it. And I want to.do something similar and a Lil smaller ... say a prayer lol I'm in so cal lol its expensive here
Great Job Spencer.....now you can enjoy the space for all those up and coming projects, take it easy my friend and see you on the next vid, and of course not forgetting Melissa.
Hello, first of all, CONGRATULATIONS, it is a project that I want to do. If you could tell me approximately how much the cost was (not counting the containers) to get an idea. More or less it is the project that I want to do on my land to use as a garage and workshop. It turned out great. Greetings from Spain.
Spain is one of my favorite countries to visit ... great to hear you're planning a build. Cost depends on location but I was around $20k on this one. And it took me a few years of evenings and weekends to complete. Bueno 'migo!
@@metaspencer Ok, thanks for your reply. I'm from the North of Spain, from Bilbao. If you ever come, don't hesitate to contact me so I can recommend places to visit and eat very well. Yes, I have that project, but I know it will take me a long time, since I will do it practically alone, but well, when it is finished, it will be a pride to see the construction. Best regards.

First time watching your channel! I just finished my second terrace and all by myself first one in concrete and wood and the second one all metal all details welded by me. Your video reminded me of how much fun was and how hard is handling plywood by yourself. Enjoy your work with the family , I’m a new subscriber.
Ballpark, how much did the entire project cost? Maybe do a video briefly covering how much each major step was along the way. Great building and good job.
Nice, I like it, but I can't say it's unique, I have seen several done very similar to yours, Still, you did a bang up job on it.. Thanks for sharing.........

Very nicely done! Almost exactly as one I have planned out. My question is given the current cost of sea cans is there any savings over a conventional pole framed building?

Awesome work sir, thanks for sharing. You should capture the water coming off of the roof for future use. As of today what do you estimate this to cost to build? Thanks again.
I absolutely plan to capture that water. I've got one IBC container but kinda want a huge cistern for water storage. In the works! I don't save receipts but cost is up there over $20k or so at this point
A whole bunch of hard work and ingenuity condensed into 15 minutes. Very impressive.

How’s the insulation on the shipping container inter walls of the inside building does that hold a lot of coldness or take longer to warm up?
Works perfectly in all seasons. The boxes act as insulated breaks for the building though they’re hot or cold inside them
I built an amazingly similar building about 6 years ago. Mine is a bit smaller but otherwise much like yours.
You were at the forefront of container building!
I agree that your roof looks nicer than the simpler, regular version.

27’ - thanks buddy
Very nicely done! Almost exactly as one I have planned out. My question is given the current cost of sea cans is there any savings over a conventional pole framed building?

Is there anything you would’ve changed? Is there any moisture issues?
No moisture issues at all, super dry, but that makes sense since there is no moisture creation like in a house with a bathroom, cooking, etc. I would have excavated it differently if I had it to do over again, but livin' and learnin' haha
