  • My favorite homemade baked beans recipe is simple to make and can for a quick any day side dish. This easy recolor Bushes Copycat Country Style beans is great. The family loved them the first time out which surprised me as they were used to the Original recipe beans.
The recipe shown is a bit strong on the molasses and I prefer thinner sauce. Just change it up a little next time replacing some of the molasses for water. If its too sweet you can add more vinegar to adjust the flavor before filling your jars. I find myself adding a bit of water to the pot when I reheat these beans. No flavor is lost as I'm rinsing my jar with an inch or two of water and using it in the beans.

You no longer need to sterilize your jars or lids. The process of canning whether it is WB or PC as long as the process is 10 minutes or more the process itself will sterilize the jars and lids. Saves an incredible amount of time.

I prefer to sanitize everything. My family safety is not worth skipping any steps.

I do my beans the same way I also learned a hack myself instead of soaking overnight. I take care of my mom and we don’t need a huge pot anymore. I take a quart mason jar fill it 3/4 cup full of beans then fill with hot tap water and seasonings sit it on the counter and like magic I’m ready to make her a small pot of beans we are in the south so I use a ham slice in the pan simmer till done but I have never canned bake beans this I’m watching lol. Thought the tip may help someone out there

Pour hot water over the lids. I don't run the pot on the burner to heat the lids/bands.

So , just to double check, the sauce is also 1 1/2 times the recipe and would need to be reduced if only using two pounds of beans?

If you have leftover sauce you can save it as a start on a batch of BBQ sauce. I always can large batches and tge bean to liquid ratio is never spot on and you don't want to be short when its time to fill tge jars.

Yes I will. I lost my description in bulk editing awhile ago. Still working on it.

I'm not sure why youtubers are calling beans with tomatoes in them a Bush's copycat. Bush's contains no tomatoes. Or at least according to the ingredients label it doesn't.

Likely a Bush variant on the homestyle variety they sell. I don't like tomatoes in the beans.

The bulk editing tool deleted every video description from over 700 videos in 1 keystroke. Its taking a long time to redo each video description.
