When lids come back in, I'm buying then by the 36 ct flats! I'm not going to have to worry about them again for a few years! I'm calling them a pantry staple, just like flour or sugar!
Here’s a simple hack for you for the tomato paste...if you have an electric can opener, open both ends. All the paste will slide right out with a little shaking of the can
These Baked Beans are the best I’ve ever ate hands down. I’ve canned up 3 cases of pints already and bought all the ingredients in bulk. We’ll be keeping these beans in the pantry from now on. Thank you for your content
Hello Leisa I made your baked bean recipe and yesterday my family had hamburgers on the grill and than I remembered I had baked beans so I heated them up and the grandkids loved them. We eat a whole pint size jar . I just wanted to say thank you so much . My family Liking them means a lot to me. Thank You, Leisa
These are great! To make them more like my grandmother's, I have increased the molasses and brown sugar to a full cup (still adjusting) I also add 4 tablespoons of garlic powder and mustard seed. I am slowly getting closer to Grammy's slow cooker recipe. 🥰
Hi! I've been searching for something different to can up during these winter months! Lord knows, I am stocked to the gills with dry pintos, lol! Looking at the ingredients of this recipe...I can already tell these beans are going to taste great. THIS is a recipe I'm definitely going to can up this week. Your recipe has the right amounts of molasses, just enough Worcestershire sauce, the onion, mustard powder, etc,etc.... I know before I even can these myself, its going to be delicious! On a separate note... i think this would make a great pot of baked beans simmered in a cast iron dutch oven over an open campfire. :-) Thank you for sharing ❤
I added salt pork belly pieces to mine. Fried in the frying pan, rinsed it off because I was worried it would be too salty..it wasn’t. Processed it for 75min. I rebel canned by using 1/2 cup dry beans per pint then adding the hot liquid. Turned out delicious.
Hi Lisa. Today I canned these baked beans. I did add 1 chopped red bell pepper and 2 cups of smoked diced ham hocks. I used Swerve also. I had them for supper. Oh my goodness they are delicious. I wound up with 14 pints and about 1/2 c of juice left. Sent the recipe to my cousin in Shreveport, Louisiana. Boy they will be delicious with fried fish and hush puppies. Yum!
I made this! Fun fact: 4 tbsp = 1/4 cup. These were really, really good. Personally I will definitely never buy baked beans again. I will make these again but my personal preference will be to only add 2tbsp of pepper instead of 4. This was still amazing. And yes, the water/sauce to beans ratio is indeed perfect! Thank you! (Edited spelling)
A year later, I'm about to can my 3rd batch. This is a good recipe for sure!!! However, this is a warning for those of you that even like spicy or hot stuff.....I would start with 2Tbs of pepper (not 4). It was okay for me. But, hubby still said they taste good but, the pepper is too much. So, third time I'm using 1 Tbs of Pepper. Great recipe. But, boy, that pepper is something else. LOL
@@cfales13 I like pepper and hot stuff. But, in my opinion, 1 Tbsp was perfect. The hubby can't leave them alone when I am gone. I literally just bought more navy beans (that's what I use) today to make MORE! If you use a larger bean maybe that much pepper is okay. But, WOW. 4 Tbsps. is a bit much. EDIT: To be able to use the first batch...I had to open up store bought bushes and mix one to one. Others I would have pitched them. So try that so they don't go to waste. I hate wasting food.
Thanks for the video! I made baked beans about a month ago and presoaked overnight as well. I used pinto beans as well and yes they absorb a lot of fluid!! They are pasty when I go to use them but I just add a cup of water when heating up and just like new and delicious!
YOU ARE AWESOME. Yep I'm making this for my pantry. Tonight I made the white bread in the pottery and it turned out fabulous. Love the blue pottery and bread was delicious with our soup for dinner.
I tried your recipe with Great Northern beans. Turned out really good. Its a great base flavor of beans to use for different things. I did cut back on the pepper though. I made 12 pints of them today. I no longer need to buy any baked beans.
I usually make my baked beans for each meal. Will definitely start canning to put in storage. I use Liquid Smoke in my beans instead of dry mustard and worcestershire sauce. Thanks for sharing your recipe, and showing the finished product 😊
Baked beans are on my canning list for tomorrow. Looking forward to this recipe-I think I’ll add some chili powder and smoked paprika, but otherwise this looks delicious!!!
I have 9 pints in the canner right now. Used your recipe with a couple tweaks. They are going to be amazing. I added a little allspice a touch of apple cider vinegar and used fresh onions because I need to use them up. If I have a jar that doesn’t seal I won’t be mad.😉
My mom used to make the best baked beans! And a loaf of homemade bread for us- So Delicious! I've always wanted to do this,, but, oh, my husband is Italian and his tastes are much different than the meat & potatoes I grew up on, and loved. So, he's never been fond of baked beans; but guess what? I am going forward to make these, if I had to learn to cook all of the Italian dishes for him, well, he is going to eat baked beans with me! He hated meatloaf when I married him: but then, being Italian, his mom's meatloaf was just a big meatball! (lol). So, he loves my meatloaf, along with other foods he used to dislike. But, I never let him make hamburgers, just a big round meatball!! Old habits die hard. Funny story: we had a family of 7,we would go to his parents for Easter. Now this was long ago I took one of his mom's huge meatballs to my plate along with homemade pasta(very good), But, I cut into the ginormous meatball - "ah-h, yeeks" there was a hard- booked egg inside!! I Do Not Eat Eggs. I will eat custard pie, but I will never eat eggs. I had to slide it over, discretely to my husband's plate. I stuck with just the pasta))) I Love Your Videos! You explain everything as a professional cook! Many Thanks. pattie
The only thing I'd like to point out is that you said 3/4 cup of tomato paste, but put in 3 cans which equals 3x 3/4 cups. 😊 Excellent recipe, but next time will use half the pepper as my husband can't do spicy hot stuff! Me: I LOVE IT! THANK YOU!!
Since I started jarring up my own baked beans, I haven't bought any!! I love the different recipes I find on the tube. Small tomato paste is only 50c up here at dollar general.
I canned pinto beans with Fiesta ranch yesterday, but I changed it just a little, I used some of my canned onion broth, it's really good in venison chili.
Oh Leisa girl, you're breaking my heart. I can't can any more baked beans until I finish off the so-called 'Better Than Bush's' I previously canned. At this point I'm just forcing myself to use them. :( I want to make yours, they sound so much better. Thanks alot. hahaha
Me too!! I just emptied them out with great heartache but nobody would eat them. I'm excited to try this recipe. Its supposed to sleet tomorrow so I think I will...
I did up some Boston baked beans and used blackstrap molasses. So strong and bitter I ended up tossing 5 pints. Just couldn't add enough plain beans and sugar to be palatable unless hubby and I were in for a gal. to try and eat up.
Made 25 pints of your recipe with the addition of bacon pieces. The recipe was a little liquidy but not a problem. My husband is in love with this recipe! Thanks!
Leisa those beans look great! I like the bean to sauce ratio. I have everything to make them and have been searching videos. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. I found two boxes of rings and lids at Walmart about a month ago. Have seen any since. I look for them everywhere I go.
I picked up 16 packs of lids in November. I just bought 6 cases pint and 6 cases quart jars about a week or two ago. I am getting more this week. Stocking up now!
OMG! I made these today! Just got a Presto 23-qt and these beans were the very first thing I did. 16 500ml jars! (pints in the US) 16 in one canner load! They are sooooo sooooo good! I used navy beans and three of the small tomato paste cans like Leisa did in the video. I cut the pepper down to 1 tbsp. Everything else was the same. Amazing baked beans. Thank you for all you share with us. Your Canning 101 videos gave me the courage to buy and use the Presto. Previously, I had a small digital canner (which I still love) because the presto scared me. You changed that. Thank you so much!
I have this on the stove right now. I did put less molasses, more brown sugar and 1Tbsp of honey... I guess because Momma did. It is fantastic! Thank you so much for this recipe. I had been experimenting trying to can my baked beans. So far, unsuccessfully (too dry). This is so close to my homemade and I'm positive my family is going to love it!!
Our local Dollar General in the past has only carried Golden Harvest brand jars and lids and I have always used those with no problems. I am now also using Tattler lids and so far no real issues. And these beans look amazing! Going to try it soon.
I have a slotted ladle for soup canning to evenly divide the solids between the jars and then with a regular ladle I spoon the liquid into the jars. That would work for beans cooked in seasoned liquid too. I get my lids in sleeves from Dutchman's in Iowa. They have a websitefor ordering. I don' t have any failures with their lids.
Back last spring, I ordered canning lids and rings on line. It took them about 3 months to come in. When they arrived I opened the package to discover they were solid one piece lids with a rubber type seal. They are good for storage but not for pressure canning nor for vacuum sealing. They were $60 for 130 lids. Now I have a ton of lids that I really don't need. I'll use some for storage, but none for canning.
I did your last recipe...came out wonderful...did add cooked bacon. A previous recipe I used came out too dry...needed to be watered down. This recipe looks good...hopefully, when the beans cool and stay on the shelf awhile...the beans don’t absorb too much liquid and overall becomes too dry...if so, just add a little liquid. Tweeking recipies sometimes come out wonderful. Thank you for your video. Love to can and watch canning videos. Tired from Canuary...canned 61 pints of various recipies and corned beef from your instructions...came out perfect! Doesn’t sound like a vast quantity canned...but, these were varied new recipies not a bunch of one food item crammed into a jar. Just ate my last jar of chili from over a year ago...oh, no! Need more! Looking forward to your next air-fryer recipe...last one...the bomb.
Thanks for the recipe Leisa. These are on my list. I’m from east Texas and just to let everyone know that Walmart had 16qt canners on the shelf a couple of days ago. I also found 1 dozen wide mouth pints jars but no lids. Thanks for all you do!
I did this recipe today, but had leftover liquid. It was probably because I used 8 cups of soaked beans instead of 8 cups of dry beans THEN Soak them . Lol. I guess some of us need very detailed recipe directions. I’m sure they’ll taste great
Beans look awesome! I also need to put some more up. All I can get it the wide mouth lids with rings. Take what I can get. Hoping to find reg mouth soon. Love your videos!
Awesome. I swore off baked beans because they have too much sugar. I make my variations of baked beans, I call them sweet heat. Just a hint of sugar and spicy. You are so right about the different lids on Amazon. I bought jars and lids on Amazon when I got started canning last year. I have a set of jars that will not seal at all because the rings were not the normal size wide mouth rings. I just use them for odd items or to be honest I am a Georgia girl, I drink whiskey out of them most times. 😳🤣🤣 Love your videos.
I use Mainstays, but I haven't pressure canned with them. I haven't had issues with water bathing or vacuum sealed. Those look so good I'm hoping to add this to my list soon.
I made the small batch back in the summer and last night we had the last 2 pints, they did have a little to much liquid but they still had a great taste I will be making these very soon thank you so much I love your videos
I bought a bunch of tattler lids online. They definitely require a bit of a different process. I have had 100% success every time with my presto canner and fairly easy process. Its hit and miss in my all American canner. I thought that was interesting and perhaps helpful to some debating getting them.
@Bonnie Mechefske... The customer service @ Harvest Guard is 2nd to none in my opinion. (TATTLER & HARVEST GUARD were the same company to begin with, sort of. All the same family that split into 2 companies is my understanding) I was told recently that since I was new to their lids & gaskets, that if I had any issues (with the learning curve as I've called it) to not hesitate to call them. I have to believe that the TATTLER customer service would be the same. Good luck & for sure don't give up on the lids without talking to them! Happy canning!
I made your baked beans last time and they were delicious , glad you improved the liquid ratio. This time I will be doing quarts since my husband liked them better than store ones.
This was just a video I need to see you today. Plan on doing some canning a baked beans next month and our area has a mass of shortage of navy beans but I’ve got a ton of pinto beans in stock. This is amazing. Thank you for 8:348:39
Lisa, these look amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience to help others. Soaking great northern beans tonight. Thinking of adding powdered bacon I pulverize in a coffee grinder or liquid smoke. I had the same Amazon "Ball" imposter lids experience last year. The boxes even printed with the Ball name but I weighed one and it was a gram lighter than the real Ball lid. Also the rubber seal was very thin. Never again buying lids from Amazon. The Ball lids are selling for over $4.25 a dozen in my stores if they have them in stock. I ordered some Tatler reusable lids and tried them last week. All sealed beautifully. Ordered more yesterday. Happy day. God Bless and be well.
I printed out the recipe & saw it only listed the ingredients but not the complete directions. I had to go back & watch the video to get the rest of the directions. Also Wal-Mart is getting their supply of jars & lids in. I went & got a case each of regular & wide mouth Ball lids.
This sounds like a great recipe. Now that it's been a while are you happy with the liquid amount in this batch. I think I'll definitely make up a half batch soon so we can see if these will work for our tastes. Thanks for your amazing videos.
I think i have 2 boxes of mainstay lids. Haven't used them yet. I have a bunch of harvest guard and tattler lids too haven't tried them yet either. I figured I'll go.through all my unopened boxes of jars before I start reusing and breaking into the lid stash. I didn't realize how many boxes of jars I had because that's been my strategy since the canning shortage started and I still have about 8 more boxes.
I bought mainstay lids in July because that's all I could find. After I read the reviews on it and they were not good. I decided to keep them since I couldn't find any lids. I used them when I freeze or dry can and keeping my good lids for canning.
Thank you for your video. There you go. I hammer into the computer, "Canning beans" and *POOF* there you are. so I put everyone else on the dreaded "watch later" and here I AM! Dry? My split pea soup is so thick it's like condensed and so good you'd never know it was watered down! It's not bragging if it's true. I need a ladle like yours, ... That's a winter job for me and the wood pile. a hatchet and a good whittling knife. Lids? The instructions on our new lids claim there are good for 12 to 18 months. I use them for jams and pickles. I save my good lids for the meats. The beans look real nice. Now if I were too put some meat in them I'd have to increase the time under pressure for the meat. Might want to do an experiment the next time I'm canning meat and see how a jar or two of beans turns out. I just did some pork too. OK, I was wondering whether to soak overnight. Have a great one and good luck.
Those look delicious. Now I know what I will do with my plethora of pintos. Is it safe to add different seasonings such as onion, ginger, and garlic powders? What about diced bell pepper to go along with the onions? Thank you for sharing. Blessed be!
When lids come back in, I'm buying then by the 36 ct flats! I'm not going to have to worry about them again for a few years! I'm calling them a pantry staple, just like flour or sugar!
Everytime I see lids at Walmart, I pick them up. Doesn't happen often, but some is better than none.🤗
Here’s a simple hack for you for the tomato paste...if you have an electric can opener, open both ends. All the paste will slide right out with a little shaking of the can
I tried this! I just used a hand held can opener and put the can upside in the measuring cup as I opened the second end. Just slid right out! Amazing!
I do the same thing!
Never thought of that. thanks.
OMG thank you!!!!

This looks perfect. I’ve been looking for just the right baked bean recipe, and this should do it. Thank you!
I LOVE your butcher block countertop. 😍. Bean recipe sounds delish. I will try this week.
Those baked beans look amazing. Bravo 👏
Beans look awesome! I also need to put some more up. All I can get it the wide mouth lids with rings. Take what I can get. Hoping to find reg mouth soon. Love your videos!
I found wide mouth canning lids tonight at Walmart $3.18 a box, I bought 10.
I found regular lids today at Food Lion in NC for $3 a dozen. Starting to see a few in Wal-Mart at $2.30. They go fast!
Thanks again for the recipe. Will be trying this recipe when I get my Canner. Finally it's coming this week! Can't wait
Oh ya they look great did the jalapeno bacon cheese wontons tonight 👍👍👍💗💗💗💗😁😁😁
They look terrific, Leisa! I have a lot of beans in storage, so it looks like a great recipe to use some of them up. Thanks!
I got beans ,so here we go, looks so good
I bought a bunch of tattler lids online. They definitely require a bit of a different process. I have had 100% success every time with my presto canner and fairly easy process. Its hit and miss in my all American canner. I thought that was interesting and perhaps helpful to some debating getting them.
I believe that Melissa K Norris has a comparison video on her channel
@Bonnie Mechefske... The customer service @ Harvest Guard is 2nd to none in my opinion. (TATTLER & HARVEST GUARD were the same company to begin with, sort of. All the same family that split into 2 companies is my understanding) I was told recently that since I was new to their lids & gaskets, that if I had any issues (with the learning curve as I've called it) to not hesitate to call them. I have to believe that the TATTLER customer service would be the same. Good luck & for sure don't give up on the lids without talking to them! Happy canning!
Looks good! Perfect timing, my husband just finished my last jar. ⚘
Thank you for

Thank you
Really look forward to making this. This is so much fun!
Making these beans today after a major score on jars at the Bay City Meijers.
I would ACTUALLY eat those baked beans all I need is molasses 😋 God Bless you and your family from middle GA 🙏 Kendra
Hello again. Those beans looked really good, and can’t wait to try them
Thank you for sharing. Need your shirt.

I printed out the recipe & saw it only listed the ingredients but not the complete directions. I had to go back & watch the video to get the rest of the directions. Also Wal-Mart is getting their supply of jars & lids in. I went & got a case each of regular & wide mouth Ball lids.
Yum! I could live on baked beans.
Those beans look amazing.
This sounds like a great recipe. Now that it's been a while are you happy with the liquid amount in this batch. I think I'll definitely make up a half batch soon so we can see if these will work for our tastes. Thanks for your amazing videos.
Looks great and actually quite easy! Can't wait to do this. Thank you!
Going to have to try these! I love baked beans!
I'm going to try this bean recipe this week! Thank you for sharing!
Could you do a video and open up a jar of the beans and pour them on a plate so we can see how much is still beans or how much is mush?
I love all beans !
Those would be awesome with country pork ribs and potato salad 😊
They are delicious and thank you so much for recipe
Your recipe is great I loved it! I’m going to try soaking them next time since like you I prefer less liquid also. These look perfect.
Looks tasty. I’ll be trying these. Thanks Leisa.
I buy them by the case at Walmart in Georgia. They have them pretty regularly.
Oooohhh yeahhhhh thank you
Those look delicious. Now I know what I will do with my plethora of pintos. Is it safe to add different seasonings such as onion, ginger, and garlic powders? What about diced bell pepper to go along with the onions? Thank you for sharing. Blessed be!
So excited to try this one!
