Your Baked Beans are wonderful! Thank you so much for sharingI I had left over sauce, cooked it down and it turned into great tasting BBQ Sauce! 2# Navy beans made 9 pints. A "Silver" gal from Northern California :)
I’m planning to can 7 or 8 quarts of baked beans today, so I’m just looking at various recipes to see how I might improve my own. I must say that out of all the videos I’ve seen, your sauce looks the absolute best! It is so rich in color, and it just looks delicious! Thanks for the video!
I made these today and canned all 8 pints in my Presto Electric canner. They smelled so good while they were in the canner that I thought maybe I had some leakage. But all were intact and sealed without problem. I had almost half of the sauce left so I have am soaking enough beans to mix with some Echrich sausage to can tomorrow in some 24 oz jars. I think that will make a quick meal with some cornbread and a salad. I had sort of hoped that one jar wouldn’t seal so I could taste the beans because they smelled so good. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Made 15 quarts a couple days ago. Thought we would have a jar with supper last night- my family went crazy for them!! Even my littlest grandson 17 months. I can see I’ll have to make more... we ate three jars! And only part of my family was home!!! Big hit!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!!
Last seasons baked beans I wasn’t happy with. Everything I have tried of yours has been fabulous. SO, I’m making your beans this year! Thank you, Colleen 👍🏻❤️
Thank you for sharing your recipe! 🎉 I love that it is tried and true and your family's favorite. I was hoping to see the finished jars to see how liquidy it remained. I'd like to make them without extra sauce. Will need to do by trial and error. 😂. Thanks again!
Very informative and enjoyable video. I never though to can my own beans. Here in New England I still. Bake beans every other Saturday from Ictober until May but I like this recipe and will certainly try this. Thank you.
I do hope you give it a try. I can them both in pints and quarts so that if we have people over I can open a quart but a pint does the two of us for several meals. Best wishes, Colleen
Love how your beans look!! The sauce was the selling point for me. I noticed though when I looked at your recipe in the description it doesn’t have the apple cider vinegar. I think it probably adds a great taste to the end product I have to remember to put it in. Can’t wait to try these. Thanks for sharing it
Recipe looks great ! Thanks for posting this video. I have never seen molasses in a cardboard carton ! I've only ever seen it in slender small glass jars.
I am going to try this recipe soon. I've canned two different baked bean recipes and both were good but both needed a little tweaking when the jars were opened- a little ketchup and mustard. I want one that's ready straight out of the jar and hoping this is it. Thank you for sharing
Hello Linda, Thank you, I don't think you will be disappointed because its quite tasty in fact we are having some tonight with ribs and corn bread. I appreciate you being here. Thank you, Colleen
came back to say l couldn't stop thinking about your bean's so this is what what I'm canning today..thanks for your amazing step by step details. Blessings 🌹💞
Hello, I am glad that you are enjoying the coleslaw we think its pretty fantastic. I will be sharing some recipes for water bathed canning the old fashioned way. Just working up my bravery because there are a lot of people out there that have been conditioned to think that the USDA way of canning is the only way and they are very sure they are right. Cheers, Colleen
@@oursilvermoments6028 you are so right. It takes 4 hours in my pressure canner from beginning to end the Amish water bath I think everything for 3 hours. So maybe it's a short cut, maybe it's not. I'm going to try and can mac and cheese soon. Lol they partly cook the noodles, because they say it keeps them firmer. I'm going to try it both ways and see which is better.
For this, I really want to try making baked beans. You have the same type of electric canner I do. That is yours call 44 cups of water in the creator pressure and steam? I used mine to cook 1/2 pints of plain navy beans. Sometimes my husband likes something for supper that I am not fond of so now he can have his choice and I’ll just heat up some navy beans for me. Yay!
These look wonderful!! I canned corn last weekend and am going to do beans tomorrow. I think I found the receipe I want to try! Texas is still suffering the heat. This has been the hotest summer ever!!! I see people doing fall videos, I just can't get in that mode. It's still 102°-103° when I leave work at 7pm!😥
Oh my gosh Michelle, That is hot. Thanks are definitely cooling off here. It was just 62 degrees in the house this morning when we got up so we turned the furnace on. Hopefully it starts to cool off for you soon. Best wishes, Colleen
Oh, Colleen! I cannot tell you how many times we have talked about doing our own beans, but feel intimidated by the process. No more excuses now? :)) Looking forward to giving this a try. Thank you for this one.
Bless your heart you must have been reading my mind and knew I was looking for a good home canned baked bean recipe !! This will be my first year of canning baked beans but the recipe I was going to try was given really bad reviews by some ladies I know who thankfully tried the recipe before I did. I love sweet, sweet baked beans and I was tickled to see yours had no vinegar. 😀 I so enjoy your videos and recipes. Blessings from Arkansas in the US. 💐
Hello Teresa, Thank you, our family enjoys this recipe but it does have a bit of apple cider vinegar in it. Definitely a recipe worth trying. Best wishes, Colleen
I would love to make these but I don’t currently can because of my mobility issues. Any advice as to how I would adjust this recipes cook time if not canning? I really want to try your recipe it sounds delicious! So any advice on how to make this recipe when not canning would be greatly appreciated! 🤗❤️
Thank you, very much 💕 I will be canning this recipe this weekend. Also, not sure if you all have tried fried hotdogs, after they have been canned? 😋Delicious 😋 my grandkids love them.
The National Center for food preservation says now you can do 65 min for pints and 75 min for quarts. This recipe looks good, but if I make them I will leave out the liquid smoke it takes over the flavor, I don't want it strong. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
DO you ever put meat in with your beans? I smoke some pork on the BBQ and add about 1/2 the amount of beans in smoked pork for Pork and Beans. So good. I've never seen an electric pressure canner. I wish you had shown us the finished beans and some from the jar you were going to open the next day to see the texture.
Hi Beth, I don't use much bacon in each jar. It would probably be equal to about one strip of bacon. Just enough to add a bit of flavor. Best wishes, Colleen
Nice going! I watch you from Switzerland, but have lived over 20 years in Canada (MTL and Ottawa). Where are you in Canada? East? West? Anyway, nice to follow you. I'm going to try your baked beans. I miss it! ;-) Thank you!
Hello Marie-France, I live in the west right up against the Alberta border in Golden, BC and I appreciate you watching from Switzerland. Cheers, Colleen
I made your sauce last night and did pinto beans. I presoaked for just a few hours and put a couple tablespoons of organic vinegar. Then drained and rinsed and put fresh water in and cooked for 30 minutes. Did the sauce and canned, but I was worried about them swelling so I only filled 3/4 full, there was like 2-3 inches from the one inch space, now I am concerned they will not be safe to use. I didn't understand chicken has how many inches of head space and safe. Someone said to redo them. I am not doing that. Will they be safe?
We have just opened some from 2 years ago and they are great. But we can to try and use within a two year period. I'm sure they would last longer but we haven't tried them out.

How did you like the beans.?. 😂❤🎉
@carolschedler3832 we love the beans and I can them several times a year just to keep them stocked on the shelf.
Looks like a good recipe. You have probably noticed beans are not as cheap as they used to be. Thank you for the informative video.

This is one I'll definitely do very soon. So glad YT recommended it to me. I enjoy all your videos but your canning ones are great.
sounds great ... will complement my regular canned beans, affording some variety
Thank you for sharing. This is to go on my to do list.

👍👍👍👍👍 - I still think in Imperial Measurements, too.
After almost 40 years of thinking in metrics I just roll my eyes when recipes say 1 cup of zucchini!😂 It now seems so imprecise.
I'm sure this is a great recipe
If I don’t have a pressure cooker what can I use.
I would have doubled the molasses and put no sugar . Yummy
