That 1962 Chevrolet Corvair FC 95 Greenbrier looks like a good candidate for a restoration ! The Greenbriers were sold as Sport Wagons. This appears to be a Deluxe model with 6 doors . That engine looks sweet ! To bad it's not a the correct FC engine; The wheels look awesome on the Greenbrier . I own a 1964 Sport wagon FC Greenbrier Deluxe 6 door; they are a blast to drive! Thanks for the video, & that is a nice color combination; might even look good with a clear coat on the exterior, & leave the patina. IMHO.

      Hey Vince,
As I remember the engine story, it was so bad that it wouldnt split in two without more damage to itself. Even the carbs couldn't be worked with.
I'm amazing that it's as structural as it is.
It's really creepy that more of the seat cover breaks every time I get in it.
Just keep them on the road though right? It does my heart good to see old metal still out doing what it was made for.
      . Thanks for the memories.

The seat cover cracks everytime I get in. It's my only real complaint with the van. The owner is going love it!

As a junior in high school, I had the opportunity to suffer a driving trip or two in the form of high school biology field trips. They were really perks afforded the honors biology class where the teacher and a couple of parents car pooled somewhere into the woods for everyone to commune with nature and skip out on a few school days. For that class, we earned it. One parent regular had a new Greenbrier she used. Same color as here. (Weren't they all puke green?) Your basic Corvair engine driving a two speed Poweglide trany left over from the early 1950s. With a load of kids and camping gear it struggled to clear 60 MPH at a time when 75 was the limit everywhere. I think it was born because someone at GM noticed that VW was selling as many vans as it could import, so why shouldn't Chevy skim some of that action? The short answer was that a cheesebox engine powering through a four speed manual will slide by where a two speed slushbox Powerglide was a joke dragging around an overweight van body. Plus, there was never a day in the 1960s where GM craftmanship could match the fit and finish of the Germans. The quality of the technology fitted in the Grienbrier was circa 1940. I cannot imagine how it could have been made more cheaply or less safe. It rode like a buckboard, bouncing over everything in the road. By 1962 US auto standards, it was a piece of junk rolling off the dealer lot. I wouldn't spend 2 cents restoring this "thing".

Randall, I'm getting -just a hint-, that going back to the good old highschool field trip days, isn't high on your list of things to recreate.
Look at the bright side, you lived to tell the tale!
I'm actually glad to not be old enough to have experienced the same thing in one of these. She's slow enough with just me in it. Can't imagine it loaded down with students, gear, and snacks on the open road.

@randallstewart1224 I couldn't disagree with you more. I owned both a '64 Greenbrier with Powerglide and a '66 VW bus. The Greenbrier was a Cadillac by comparison. It could keep up with traffic and do the freeway without issue. Mine wasn't loaded with kids and camping gear. It was a way better car than the VW and a good car in it's own right. Mine was pristine unrestored condition.

The customers mom's owned this since new. It's never been out of the family.
      He has roughly $8k invested.
I figure it's willed to his kids.
