I personally find Jay filming by himself and talking everything more personal and authentic it's done so so good! This should be a permanent change as Jay is a natural with the camera and everything i really enjoyed this.

I certainly appreciate what he's doing. There should be books and DVDs (or Blu-Ray discs) on his vehicle collection. I certainly would buy all of them.
Jay is simply the best… love watching all his videos and have learned a ton on all types of cars from him. So knowledgeable: I have owned and driven Corvairs since 1987 and Jay is spot on with all his details. Thank you Jay for keeping these videos going during the pandemic!
I worked at a local Chevy dealer from 65 through 68 who had a Corvair 95 pickup as a shop truck. I drove it a lot during those years and thought that it was a hoot to drive. Loved the presentation!
In 1972 a buddy of mine bought two Corvair vans and two pickups in great shape from a flower shop for $100 each. Yes, they were a hoot to drive.

@myself to myself Jay was just a lucky guy. With all of the money that he earned he invested in automobiles and not like the rest of the people of Hollywood with their drugs,sex abuse and their dirty deeds. Smart Man , I wish we were related.
I feel the same, and I really enjoy it. I think I enjoy these reviews on these types of cars more than the latest and greatest hypercars. The hyper cars are amazing technical achievements, but these reviews of these type of cars really seem to bring out their soul.
I wouldn't say lucky, just intelligent and well-grounded.

In my hometown, the appliance dealer had one. They loved it! They could load and unload a refrigerator or a washer or dryer or large console TV (remember that was 1961) easily. Low entry height. If you drive it up to a curb, the ramp was nearly flat! I don’t know now, but they might still be using it.
This was not new. VW sold a pickup based on Transporter platform for years. Except in West Germany, they had fold down sides! Even more convenient!! I spent hours driving one on the Autobahn while in the military over there.
When Jay passes away he won’t be remembered for late night etc. He’ll be remembered for the Jay Leno Museum of Automotive History. The premier museum of auto history in the world. Nothing will be close.

It'll suck when Harry Metcalf (from Harry's Garage) goes, too. That guy and Jay have the best car shows around...no bs or annoyance, just cars told about by mature and extremely knowledgeable and experienced enthusiasts that love them.

I thought he'd be remembered for his big chin, as they keep trying to close the lid of the coffin but it keeps coming up an inch short until they figured out to turn his head sideways.

I had a 64 Ford econoline falcon. When I drove it I constantly thought how bad it would be if I crashed.
Reminds me of a Greek friend who told me that Greek drivers are the best in Europe. I asked why? Well, he said, you in richer northern Europe, you have all these cars with safety measures, airbags, seat belts etc. We don't have this here with our old junk cars, so all the bad drivers are already dead here in accidents. So only the best remain and that's why we have the best drivers! Lol.
I used to know a retired machinist who'd become a VW mechanic. I asked him about the safety factor and he told me an anecdote about an elderly couple who were cruising along a highway near a small airport in a chunk of Detroit iron. A small plane landed on top of their car and its prop cut right through the roof, decapitating both of the, The moral was, when it's your time it's your time. (Anyway, those old cars that Jay sometimes drives with plate-glass windows and no safety features at all aren't any better than that Corvair pickemup truck.)
Jay seems like the type of guy you can talk to about engineering, or the weather, with the same drive. He can drive a Lamborghini, or a Corvair, and talk equally as good about one as the other.
Decent comedians tend to be conversationalists, like Norm MacDonald.
For Jay there's value in uniqueness and the human aspect of cars. And fun. These things are fun to drive without doing something illegal.

I never watched Jay Leno on TV but I wish I had. He seems like a really nice person and someone you'd like to know. Fame and fortune certainly hasn't gone to his head like so many of the Hollywood types. I will definitely be looking more into his garage and amazing career.
He was just blah as The Tonight Show host.
It's like cars were his true calling. If he hadn't been on TV he wouldn't have the money to do all the car preservation and education he does.
He was nothing like this on late night TV.
I have a few car show friends that have met him. Very nice guy and seems to appreciate work done with limited resources. It's like he remembers being there himself years ago.
I like this a lot more than his talk show.

Love these. I started out with JLG episodes when I was sitting with my father in his last years. Being a WW2 vet with Dementia, he couldn't follow plots of movies and other TV shows where what happened 5 minutes ago mattered but I soon found that he enjoyed each and every episode because none of that mattered. He could just enjoy being a "car guy" again and added much great commentary on the topic in front of him at the moment. Since he passed in 2017, I still return to these for a little "grounding" of my base. Thanks for that Jay.

If I had discovered these before my father passed I know he would have loved them as he was always a car man, (complete chassis up restoration of an Austin 12, and loved driving it), miss you dad.
Jay Leno is truly a national treasure, He emits nothing but respect and kindness to his audiences while speaking whether he is doing UA-cam videos, or when he did the Jay Leno shows. My wife and I were, and are true fans of his. Jay people like you are what really makes America great! I just gave my granddaughter a 1974 Fiat 1/9 that I was going to restore but it just wasn't in the cards. It runs and drives but needs some TLC. I told her I would help her as much as I can but I have cancer. I told her to ask her uncle to help her and trade labor with him. I told her it needs to be a weekend driving car as it has no airbags or safety equipment, I had to say that as my daughter wasn't real happy that I gave her a sports car to race around in. Yes the mighty Corvair.. : ) My dad had like 3 different ones. (car version). One day were were headed to the junkyard for parts in one and he floored it and at top speed the rear axle broke and tire hit the fender.. He didn't panic and slam on the brakes, we just coasted to a stop.. We pulled out the toolbox and walked the rest of the way to the junkyard... Couple hours we later headed back to the car with another axle, threw on the spare, and off we went. Those were the good old days! : ) I used to love those trips to the junkyard, nothing like the discoveries made there!
Also interesting to wonder if anyone survived those wrecks. Some were horrendous.
No script, no fakery, no film crew. Just Jay Leno being Jay Leno. Love it
He had a full crew. You can see them in the reflections and it's obvious from the numerous exterior shots of him driving that weren't filmed from a vehicle mounted camera. It's a good episode but it's filmed no different from any other episode. Jay isn't some random UA-camr, he's a millionaire that owns one of the most prolific and prestigious car collections in the world. He always has a crew of "experts" quarantine or not. Anyone with a collection like that would.

Here, here. I concur. Love the open and honest appraisal of the American can industry, that Jay gives.
I worked on a golf course in the 70's and there was a Corvair pickup we used to transport greens mowers. The side loading gate worked great. The real problem was the tendency for the side gate to hold moisture and was prone to rust. The cab forward and tight turning radius along with four wheel independent suspension was a great feature. Never saw many of these on the road.
This brought back a lot of good memories for me. Between 1960 to about 1975, my family had a total of 9 Corvairs. I learned to drive in my mom's 1965 Monza convertible. She loved that car and so did I. Grandpop banged the front fenders of his into the garage door frame every other month. My drunken aunt totaled two of them and survived to drink yet another day. No one in my family died driving a Corvair.
I just felt like I hung out with someone who loves what they do...he just happens to be well known. Thanks for showing me around.
I prefer when Jay is on his own - love to hear the total history of the car as well as all the new modifications / work that went into restoring that beauty. It's like he's having a one on one conversation with us and feels way more personal.
Thanks Jay, you're a real friend. Really enjoy your company. Started off with my foster dad's 55 Chevy Bel Air with the best engine I've ever had, the 265, 3 speed on the column with a 2 speed rear-end which gave me 28 to 30 MPG. But I needed a van to take me to Mexico and Guatemala for my import biz and bought a 1962 Corvair Van. Designed a bed for a 6 foot person, a little closet with book-self and water storage, and bolted a large footlocker under the bed to act as a storage trunk. The van took me to Central America & back many times, put over 550,000 miles, changed oil every 3,000 miles, as well as some fan belts along with a couple head jobs. She gave me the same mileage as the Chevy, 28 to 30 mpg. Lost my storage space in Cal (I live in Hawaii) so I had to sell it not knowing what a great mistake that was. On my next trip I bought a 1964 VW van with a 1600 engine and drove it some 400,000 miles over the years, replaced 4 new engines at the Queretaro VW factory, always adjusting valves, changing oil, and driving in a gutless, dangerous tin-can. What a piece of crap. I tried many times to find another Corvair van, but thanks to Ralph Nader, no one wanted to let go of their Corvair van that was in any descent shape. How the hell did they take the Corvair out of circulation and let the VW tin can on the road??? Thank you for sharing your Corvair with us. Aloha
Great comedian, many years on the Tonight Show, but in my book Jay is all about classic cars. To go to the trouble of restoring these classics without regard to resale or investment, to present these wonderful videos to the public -- truly a gift to all of us older gearheads. Thanks to Jay and a few others like him on the net, the younger gearheads will continue on and take it from here!
Growing up I had a friend who's dad had one of these. He owned a nursery and delivered plants and shrubs using it. The ram side made it easy to load and unload.
Is the ram side a really rare option? What do they look like? I have never seen one of those. All the ones I've seen, including this one are the RAMP side, because it folds down and is a ramp, I think that might be why they called it a ramp side.

@@jackkruese9929 mid '60s our first Cub Cadet garden tractor was delivered to our farm in one of these. Put the side ramp down and drove it right out into the yard.

I just enjoyed a cigar in my Armada last week. First time I've smoked in a car/truck in decades. Warm sunny weather, windows down, cruising the highway, nice...... Had to bring an ashtray, though....
My 68 Camaro convertible has 4 ashtrays and zero cup holders.
Always liked how in old, stripped down cars even basic safety stuff like seat belts, sun visors, outside mirror, heater/windshield defroster, door locks and such were options. But cigarette lighter/ash tray, you better bet that was standard equipment.

I"ve completely restored one of these rampsides for a friend's father.
Painted it the same Hugger orange/white color scheme, but a white roof top as well as the body stripe.
Interior is painted like yours as well.
I had around 600 hrs labor into it, replacing so much metal and vanishing several hundred dents.
It became a very cool truck, very much the same as Jay's, but on a far smaller budget.
The repairs did merit me a 66 Monza convertible as partial payment for my long efforts, a vehicle which I still own. Worked out pretty well.
A gasoline heater is installed on that Rampside. It isn't quite as thirsty as portrayed. They work extremely well. That's what the owner desired, as its a Michigan truck.
Very cool addition and interesting design.
I was too, a bit leery of its safety until better studying it's design.
When rebuilt and installed correctly, a gasoline heater is quite "seemingly" safe.
Watching your video sparks a great deal of memories, of course as the build is very close to home for me and a mirror image of your truck had occupied much of 6 months of my "free time." It did win best of show in its category at Gilmore farms one year.
It does bring smiles to see yours in great detail.
Love this one. My 1st Rampside I had. I bought from a neighbor in Minnesota in 1976. He mowed the county road ditches. He pulled it behind his mowing tractor for years so he had something to run home for lunch in.
The 2nd one I bought in Lodi California in 1979. It had a custom made topper with a side door above the ramp side. It made a great little camper for a collage kid. That one had been fixed up and painted. I wish I would have kept it. But I wasnt sure about driving it all the way back to Minnesota when I finished collage. So I traded it for a 1967 Fleetwood. Another one I wish I still had. Thanks Jay. Always good memories.
Jay is at his best by himself just talking about cars. He is right, we don’t bond with today’s maintenance free cars.
Yeah, most of us are subscribed for this style of video. Just old Jay walking around talking about vehicles. I dont know if youve seen the Jay Lenos Garage that airs on tv, but its really scripted and is targeted to people mildly interested in cars. The internet and original version of Jays Garage is for actual gear heads who build cars and love the art of mechanical engineering.
I have to agree. I've always liked cars of 60, 50, as recent as 40 yrs ago, rather than 5, 10 yrs ago. Are they safe compared to today's cars? I think that depends on how one drives the car, more than on the car itself. If you drive a car recklessly, then you may have an accident. But if you drive carefully, like your life depends on it, you may be safe on your way to your destination. :)
@@jasoncarpp7742 they've made cars too safe with electronics, same with bikes. The people that buy these 400-500bhp cars don't have the skills to drive them they rely on the electronics to save them when they muck up and its too late. High horsepower cars should be dangerous it would stop people pushing the envelope on the road and make them invest time into learning the skills. There are some newish cars that are still interesting I've just got a 2001 Toyota Crown Athlete VX 1 of 300 made. 1jz vvti, sat nav, everything electric seats etc. 80k miles, its like new even has the plastic on the door sill guards
I’m so happy my car is more reliable and I have no interest in bonding with a car.
Jay wants to talk over the guest/owner and answer all his questions as he puts them anyway so might as well be on his own.
"Modern cars are so maintenance free you don't really bond with them anymore." Jay's wisdom is such a gift to us.

Thats WHY I refuse to buy new cars.
I generally buy a 10-15 year old clean Mercedes for $5-8,000 & fix anything amiss and enjoy the precision drive experience daily.
Every once in a while it needs a minor bit or two.
Parts get cheaper as they age & more plentiful too.
I get to have a "relationship" with my driving machine and $0 payment is icing on the cake.

@ Bill Crawford - there is truth in that! But . . . The car I most regret having to sell was bought new from the Earls Court Motor Show in 1972. Needed minimal maintenance, and a delight to drive.
It was a Morgan Plus 8.
The luggage storage was minimal - me, one overnight bag, and either my guitar or my wife would fit, and she got fed up with being towed behind on roller skates! So we sold it.

I had a street going Race prepared 2 Door 1972 Datsun 510 I loved driving !
But was loud, firm suspension - in short little creature comfort.
A young single guys car all the way.
As soon as my fiancee was clear it bugged her I dropped the $$$ on an almost new Nissan Maxima with all the comforts.
She loved it !
I still missed my 510 tho...!
@@psalm2forliberty577 - Ah yes, race cars-on-the-road are such fun....! My current ride is an MY1994 Subaru Liberty 2.2L that had 200,000 on the clock when I bought it about ten years ago. The paint is blotchy, the drivers seat is saggy, there are a few rattles, but its economy is still exceptional and its motor sounds like new. Goes better than the new ones, which weigh so much more.

I just drove my Sis's fancy pants 2016 Benz GLE 400 Twin turbo V-6.
It cost plenty - prob $25-30,000 (she bought it 4 years & 40k miles)
Guess what - the drive experience - roadholding, drivetrain responsiveness, firmness, solidity - my 2002 ML500 is lightyears preferrable as a true Enthsiast machine.
Hers felt kinda sofa soft, & drivetrain muted, completely misskng all the snarling HP & Torque my 320 HP 5.0 litre V-8. ML features. I LOVE that major 'Torque on Tap' feel.
Anyhow I kept quiet to her. I just said Wow nice fancy digital everything dash display.
And LORD Thank You for satisfying me MORE with an 19 year old - $5,000 racey SUV (seats 5 + tows well) that never breaks down & has NO DIGITAL DASH FOO FAH.
Ok rant over.....
I'm really glad guys like Jay exist to restore and protect these pieces of history. I'm also very envious of what he's able to do as well. I love restoring old cars and trucks but my much less bottomless pockets limits me to more common vehicles where parts are readily available. Also noteworthy here is he builds them to drive and enjoy. Not spend eternity behind a velvet rope 👍
Man, I love this old Corvair. My dad had one of these and one of the Corvair 2 door cars when I was a kid. Brings back some great memories.
I love the way Jay tells the story! It makes me feel like I’m in the time he is talking about.
It was 1969, and I was living in Mansfield, MA, 25 miles south of Boston. I was 17 and I bought my first car: a 1962 Corvair for $50.00. I loved that car and it ran great. I can remember one snowy winter when my friends were stuck in the snow, and my Corvair with studded snow tires plowed through it with no problem! I loved the manual on the floor! Just a wonderful first car, and I, too, get angry at people putting the Corvair down. Great review!
It's suspension design is pretty terrible... Kind of defeats the point of independent suspension

I owned two Corvairs. My first one had the Gasoline Cannon heater. In Chicago winters it was great, Start the car, start up the defrosters and by the time you got out of the car to scrape the windows the ice was already melting. My second had the manifold heaters. With the way the engine seals leaked, we always got oil smoke in the car from the heat vents. They were fun to drive though. I love your restoration. The red paint and the oak slats were great.

Corvair. Cars had Single Resivior Master Cylinders. I believe Corvair pickups also were single Resivior units too. BTW Tandem Masters were Mandated by NHTSA 1967. So this would be Safety upgrade vonversion

Had a Corvair right out of High School ... loved it! Solved the "sway" in the from with two plastic bags of sand in the front trunk. Later a Pinto ... loved it! Great little car for the job of salesman I had with a local radio station.

I really like these more basic vehicles instead of the unobtainable supercars.
This is an obtainable vehicle for you? I've seen more supercars on the road than these. Wish I lived in a place like you where extremely rare and classic restored vehicles like this are abundant because where I live, I'd have a better chance of owning a supercar even with it's higher price.

Just saw a fully restored 60's Corvair. Beautiful!
My '63 Ford Econoline looked similar in the interior. Three in the tree worked great.
Stick shift is now a simple anti-theft device. My Van had a single master brake cylinder.
I've always had a fascination with this style of truck/van from the early-mid '60s. My second car was a '67 Dodge Van A-100. When Jay talked about how unsafe they were re: front end collisions he wasn't joking. My knee still aches from a wreck in 1982 when a Ford pickup pulled out in front of me. The nothing-but-metal dash literally went through my knee. The entire front end of the van was demolished.
I really love how Jay is able to pull up such history about these vehicles! Hopefully he'll keep doing it for us for years to come. Thanks Jay!!
My great worry about driving my '63 Econoline. Huge windshield though, curved, great visibility. You always knew where your front was.

A majority of people who are genuinely well off or rich didn't get there by spending frivolously.
(Unless they inherited,won, or stole the money they have.)
Out of most of the(successful) car collectors I've seen that has actually restored a significant portion of his cars, he seems to be on the more practical side when achieving the quality of each finished project.
I know somebody who sources cars for people's collections (Jay's included) and from what I hear Jay ain't just throwing money around.
Guys worth 1/2 a billion: does a complete restoration on a car worth $9k mint. Then does a complete show on it. Guys a national treasure!

Thanks again Mr. Leno and I'm happy for you in doing good by doing well, and for enjoying these classic cars! Chevy also had a van version of the Corvair 95 called the Greenbrier. Back in the '60s and '70s when I was a kid, one of our neighbors on the next block South had one which he'd purchased new, painted in two-tone green metallic and white; he still had it when I left for college and it was still in beautiful condition. I don't know what ever became of it.
My uncle bought one of these new back in the day, I think it was blue and white. All of us kids got to ride in the back and thought the ramp was really cool. Thanks for bringing back some good memories!

My high school math teacher had one of these when he was in high school. He got into a minor accident and broke both legs. Really first on the scene, but not first to walk away from the scene.

I really enjoy watching these videos. I'm by no means a car guy. But I like learning about the history and specs of the old vehicles. Jay does it in a way that even I as a lay person understands.

My 1st vehicle was a1967 GMC Handivan. The engine was between the front seats and you were basically sitting over the front wheels in a cab forward design. It made it very easy to drive because you could actually see where the van was in relation to the road. I could change spark plugs sitting in the drivers seat!

I've watched many videos of you with all different cars. I'm astonished by the vast knowledge you have on all types of cars. One viewer referred to you as a national treasure. I must agree with the up most respect. Keep up the great work.
I've owned & driven a few forward control vans over the years and I found sitting up front made you a better driver because of the lack of safety, but it's a great position for a city vehicle when you're coming out of narrow built up streets onto a main road because of the visibility you have both left & right.
I really quite like the look of this pick-up & you've done a great job in restoring it. As for the split level in the back I think a fold up divider in the middle to separate the 2 levels would have been an ideal accessory.
And add sliding doors for getting in and out in tight spaces you have the perfect solution

Jay, I’m sure you hear this all the time but I’ve just discovered your videos and I’m just blown away by your collection. Thank you for sharing it with us! I’m an aircraft propulsion engineer and this stuff fascinated me. That Owen Magnetic is fantastic!
That brought back memories. The Corvair was a fun car that went pretty well uphill in the snow. I recall the van version was called the Greenbriar. There weren't many of these around. I think that I knew of one pickup used by a housepainter and a van or so. They did tend to burn oil but then I was in the mid-west where cars and engines didn't last long anyway. Studebaker was actually pretty good if you could get past the fact that they rusted out so fast. A couple of years and they all had lace curtain fenders from road salt.
The reason you didn't see many of these back in the day is because they were a failure in the marketplace. The Chevy van looked nicer than the Ford Falcon-Econoline, but the Ford was more reliable and had a flat floor. These were sold as work trucks and you couldn't load a full sheet of plywood or sheet rock from the back like you could with the Ford. GM cancelled this pile-o-crap after the 65 model year and replaced it with a Ford copy.

Jay:this is a rare one. I've not seen one in decades. You just don't see these anymore. I like the almost French horn style shift lever, very unique. Ralph Nader sure did a lot of injustice to the Corvair. It was certainly an interesting and innovative car no doubt. Glad to see people like Jay keeping these sort of vehicles alive. 🇺🇸💯👍.

Jay is a doddering old man who is rapidly losing his last clues. Fact: The Corvair was a FAILURE in the market place. The Falcon outsold the Corvair 4:1 and that was BEFORE Nader said anything about. The suits at GM immediately realized their screw-up and threw together the Chevy II (Falcon copy) in just 18 months. Later the clowns running GM tried to save face by blaming the entire fiasco on Nader.
Just looking at the interior of his garage gives me chills. So many stories and history in there.

Jay, my father had two regular Corvair cars, a '62, and afterwards, a '67... I had absolutely _NO_ idea there had been a Corvair Pickup and full Van model offered whatsoever until I saw them both at a vintage custom car show sometime in 1989!
Boy does that bring back childhood memories! My parents had a 1960 Greenbrier van. When they bought it, it was all red. Earl Sheib added the white strip. Looked just like your 95. I remember the gear shift linkage freezing up in winter and dad had to disassemble it and re-lube all of the u-joints. Dad also had problems with the throttle cable fraying and sticking at the firewall. Had to ALWAYS carry a spare fan belt. When it broke, it would overheat in minutes. Kept it for 3 years and traded it for a '63 Pontiac station wagon with 3 speed column shift.
Your one of the most important figures in automobile history preservation. Thanks for sharing all of it.

I think Jay has probably the best American car collection since Bill Harrah's, in Reno. I visited the Reno collection before it was broken up and while it had a huge inventory, Jay's is in far better condition. He takes the time to present it to the world really well. 30+ years ago, we didn't have the technology to make this sort of presentation to the public. Jay deserves a huge amount of credit from the "gear-head" community for this effort!!
My Dad bought one of these exact Corvairs in 1961. We went everywhere in that thing. He drove it untill 1986 but never sold it. If he were still alive today he would still be driving it!

I love these pandemic videos. It’s so intimate and I feel like I’m right there and you’re talking to me actually. I’d like to see you keep the format and keep some of these in the catalog of videos.
I remember learning to drive in our Corvair station wagon, the shift linkage was so long and was pretty loose, talk about having to "shift by ESP"....but that rear-engine also saved a young driver's life, went flying off the road at speed at 3 am, taking a four-foot drop into a field below. So, did it nose-down and crash-stop? Nope, all the weight was at the back, so it flared out like an airplane landing, in a cornfield, took a pretty bumpy ride, but we managed to make a big U-turn and get back to the road, probably pissed that farmer off, and had to pick corn-ears out of the chassis for a couple of days... ;)

That is one great looking truck. The thing I love about these Corvair vans, and pickups are the styling ques. Very reminiscent of the 1959 full size chev. The headlight bezels, and the tail lights remind me of the '59. There is a really nice van over here in my town, pale green, and white with more chrome, of that same vintage. There were thousands of those things all over the road back in the early '60's. They were everywhere! They sure bring back the memories.

You watch an old movie or TV show with a highway or city scene, the cars mostly look alike. We think they didn’t because we only remember the ones that stood out, like this one.
P. S. I dislike the styling of most new cars. They’re all either boring, bloated, or overdone.

This is great. I saw this pickup live and up close at the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. It is a beautiful specimen of this one-of-a-kind type of pickup: not only is a side-ramp pickup, but also an air-cooled 'flat' 6 --- one of the best looking of the 1st Gen Corvair .... along with the Greenbriar.

We had a secretary whose parents came over on the boat with Chefboyardee from Italy. We were a lawn mower dealer in Mayfield Heights (Cleveland area) and we also had a Corvair Rampside at one time which I just loved for pick-up and deliveries. When I was out of town and in the rural areas I could go 80MPH almost effortlessly all day long. Ours was automatic, not stick shift. Loved that vehicle!!

LOVE the COE trucks. Growing up our mailman drove a Dodge COE pickup truck to deliver mail. Always brought a smile to me when drove by.
My Dad's service trucks and vans were all Corvairs , I put a lot of miles on them , they would throw the fan belt if driven hard ! My 1st car was a Corvair . We used to keep at least 2 or 3 motors standing by and could change them out in a matter of minutes ( I spent a lot of time under them ) and they were fun to drive. We also used the trucks to carry our horse back and forth to the lake so he could go swimming , we put a rail at the step up so he wouldn't fall down which he did the 1st time we tried it ( he didn't get hurt, he just sat right down on the motor well .) A lot of memories! My dad bought the 1st one sold in our area
By far, my favorite car program. With so many to choose from on all the networks, Jay Leno’s Garage is SIMPLE, informative for the car-geek, with great driving footage. So glad you’re still doing shows, even during quarantine.

Mustie1's car/truck (most are Volkswagen with one series their van/truck version) vids are really cool to watch as he takes you thru the actual restoration process start to finish with a lot of self depression talks like your actually there humor.
His motorized bicycles are the cat's meow.

He makes his living picking up non runnin' roadside castoff small engine equipment and other items sometimes but them at yard sales and a scrap yard then gets them running then sells them.

Jay love your cars you are a true car guy. I want to thank you for this show. I am a teacher along with my co/teacher like to show your wonderful classic cars to our students on a weekly basis. We call this our daily living class. It lets us go back and show the high school kids of today what we had back when we were young. The looks and replies we get from our students are priceless.
I really love these videos. The conversation, checking out the car with the details and tidbits of info on history and what people did with these cars. I'm interested in that kind of thing and then Jay always gives a nice ride with a good conversation that makes you feel you're right there next to him. I just love that!
My dad drove one of these when I was growing up. I remember being absolutely mesmerized by his switching gears. I love seeing this truck in its glorious restored state.

Restored a 66 monza spider convertible when I was fifteen.....oh the times we had!...including a small engine fire in Hudsonville Mi. Fortunately some snow was still left from a former snow bank to put it out... amazing how fast a guy can shovel snow with his hands when you are thinking the new paint and top were going to burn. Great video sir.

I grew up in Phoenix with my late father collecting (hoarding) Corvairs. We had several cars, 2 wagons, a Greenbrier van, and a backyard full of motors and parts. My mother learned to drive in a Corvair. For the longest time I thought everybody had them until I got older. Thanks for another great video, Jay. Sure brought back memories with this one.
