Special thanks:
The Band for making this awesome music
Every one of you guys watching this now
I love yall! :) - Розваги
Honestly everyone talked about this album when it came out. It was a huge step up from the previous album. Pretty much every song on this album is a banger and I highly recommend listening to the whole thing to experience the whole thing.
I heard this album for the 1st time while playing it on Guitar Hero 3 on release day. It was awesome to play an entire new Metallica album on GH, and a really solid one at that.
Hell yeah !!
this is their best album since the black album.
I mean when you are going up agains st anger litteraly anything is better lol
St Anger > Death Magnetic :)
I recommend “The Outlaw Torn” or “Bleeding Me” from their album Load. More “slow burn” type songs but great none the less and two of my favourites from 90’s Metallica.
one of the best songs from load
Yes please
Both great songs. Outlaws torn is epic
Both ... then Fixxxer from ReLoad 🤘🤘 All 3 INCREDIBLE lyrics, seriously.
The Outlaw Torn from either S&M show is next level. Alex needs to react to that. I was at the S&M show in 2019 and on my channel is my view of Outlaw Torn from that night. So dope
Hidden gems from Metallica
“The Outlaw Torn”
“Bleeding Me”
“Suicide and Redemption”
“Cyanide”
“No Leaf Clover”
“Spit Out The Bone”
“Devil’s Dance”
Fixxxxxxxxxxxer!!!!!
Great hidden gems list chap.
Hero of the day, Stone cold crazy, Cure, Low mans lyric, Aint my bitch, Broken beat and scarred, Just a bullet away, Eye of the beholder, Frayed ends, Dyers eve, Am i evil, Fixxxer, I dissapear
There are no hidden Metallica gems for me 😁
Cyanide is the worst song on Death Magnetic in my opinion.
Honestly, one of Metallica's best. That is a hill I'm willing to die on 🤘🏻
Hell yeah! Hearing it live is way better too
@@TrentCypress My dream is to see this album live, just went to a metalica show two days ago and daaaaaaamn I wanted some DM in there
Nothing beats orion by any bassist that they had, cliff, Jason, or rob
Same it's my 2nd favorite Metallica song and the music video is 👌
I wholeheartedly support this
There's only one categorie with James Hetfield's voice: You absolutely love it!
There's not muich hate for James that I ever saw. Lars, on the other hand, that's another story.
@@CreepyNeighbor666 I saw the Black tour and I didn't think it was possible to unlearn a musical instrument, it's like riding a bike. But Lars has seriously declined since then. James was actually on par/surpassing him as they did a drum battle on that show.
You need to do "That Was Just Your Life" from this album!
Absolutely! I would also add My Apocalypse
+1
And Cyanide!
Suicide & Redemption
the more thrashy song from the album
There is no love/hate with James. He is universally loved. Lars on the other hand...
Yeah Lars… He Focking Left The Banddddd!
Meh, I like the guy.
However, I do u understand why many do not
I like him for the first albums. After he ruined every album he touched!
@@2nerC9 What I think is that there is a problem with Lars's live performance, because he is not able to play the songs properly anymore. But i dont think he ruined any album (ok we can Talk about st anger)
@@2nerC9 In my option, he not ruined any album (but we can say ruined only St. Anger). But he is can't play songs live.
When Death Magnetic came out, most of the hang ups came from audiophiles who despised the production. It was definitely a step up from St. Anger and was seen as a return to form for the band.
That's my ONLY gripe about DM and HTSD, the distortion they added. It gets worse with louder volume vs distortion that was recorded wouldn't be as obvious. At least to me.
But good and solid albums regardless. Just not repeatable for me because of the distortion.
(but if you download the guitar hero versions, they're distortion free :) )
As an audiophile myself, I actually liked the album. Distortion is part of heavy Metal, especially Thrash Metal. I will definitely agree that DM was way more Metallica than anything off of Saint Anger... That one just weirded me out... It sounded like someone threw a bunch of different Metal and hard rock bands into a blender and 🔥 Saint Anger. O.o LIke, WTF is THAT?!? 😖
@@jberkhimer Totally get it, but I agree with Leathurkatt. I think they clipping and distortion is supposed to be there, it's part of the art of that album. Yeah, if you listen to the album, examining the production, you may feel like it was "just bad recording". But I don't think they purposely botched it, I think they meant for it to do that. These moments where it clips and distorts seem to be where they're inserting power into the artwork, they're shaking the foundation, sorta.
Rick Ruben peaked the mics too hard on this album. I really liked this album but it is almost unlistenable because he wanted a loud aggressive album. He did the same thing with Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight. There's just a frequency in there that ruins both those albums.
I'm lucky to own the 45rpm Vinyl Version. The Sound is way more clean and not so distorted like the loundness-war-winner-CD. Do yourself a favor and try to Listen to the vinyl Version. Even saw sb recording the vinyl Version and share it als FLAC somewhere ;-)
Finally, a reaction channel who reacted to this song. This was Metallica reasserting themselves in the Metal scene. You should react to That Was Just Your Life as well.
He reacted to it on James' birthday a year or two ago.
Rob’s dad plays flamenco style guitar and taught him. One day while they were sitting around in the studio jamming he busted out some flamenco scales and James and Kirk were blown away. That saucy little riff right before “luck runs out” was inspired by that. I’m not a guitarist per se but I’ve heard this song is fairly difficult to play which is insane that James does this while singing!!
THIS! And it’s one of the best bits in the song.
"underrated album, why is nobody talking about this?"
Yeah man, I agree with you 100%!
Just today I heard the entire Death Magnetic and it's simply fantastic! Like you said it's like metallica found the sweet spot in their sound after so many years, combining what I like about each of their eras
It's their worst album.
@@ivanvoloder8114 to be fair it's a great album if you compare it to their albums prior that one
@@shrmpizza8660 No, not realy. It didnt have the creativity of Load and Reload, even St. Anger is better in terms of raw power. The album sounds like they just put lots of things in one big pot and stir it up quickly. It's just a big mess. Hardwired was a upgrade, but still far off their original sound and unfortinatly the sound that we will never hear again.
@@ivanvoloder8114 well that depends.
I really dislike some of the older stuff becaus of the awful 80's distortion on james voice
The reason no one talks about it is the absolutely atrocious production.. Great songs but sounds like shit
All Nightmare Long is an amazing song and yes it’s on Death Magnetic🤘🏼
Please react to all of Death Magnetic. It's an excellent album
that would be legendary!
Death Magnetic is my favorite Metallica album. Every song is a banger in my opinion. Maybe because it was the first new album they released that I was old enough to pick up on day one with my own money, but the entire album was played on a loop for weeks after it came out.
Damn. This hits harder than most any Slayer tune. I never realized how heavy Death Magnetic was until you made me slow it down and enjoy it.
listen the full album, heavy as f!
This entire album is incredible. I remember when this came out I was reinvigorated with Metallica after feeling burned by their last few albums. Great reaction man!
"Lowman's lyrics" by metallica, is such an underrated and forgotten about song. It's a real slow, personal song. Don't think iv seen any reactor on UA-cam react to it
He already reacted to this for James’s bday
8:13 - that chord riff is INSANE. One of my all time fav metallica moments
You absolutely need to check out their song Atlas Rise. Specifically a live version where they are playing it faster. Another super underrated Metallica song
In my opinion Death Magnetic is one of their best albuns, it could easily be one of the 80's earlier works. Fast and heavy at the same time. And best song of the album
This is one of my favorite metallica songs. So much energy, so many sick riffs
This is my favorite song on the album.
They played it live for the first time in my hometown (they said at the time) and I was there, Calgary World Magnetic tour.
Epic....freaking epic metallica moment for a long time fan.
Great editing! Loved your popping into the clock.
I've been waiting for this!
Death Magnetic is their second most recent album and was a return to their thrash roots but with all the skill and sound quality they have developed over the interim since they departed the thrash road for diverse waters.
I’d also be willing to bet that the sound they got on this album was what they were going for and failed to achieve on Justice.
Certainly if they had followed up Master of Puppets with a refocus on the thrash element rather than continuing the prog-thrash evolution they did with Justice you might have gotten something very similar to Death Magnetic.
I've been a Metallica fan since 1984 and IMO this album, when it came out, was the best thing they had done since Master of Puppets
This album is very solid. At that point in time this was a fantastic comeback album after releasing st anger. It may not be in the same category as their early records. But definitely a record to appreciate somewhat back to old form of Metallica. Deep cut tracks imo I go towards anything off of their load and reload albums. Those two albums alone are severely underrated.
This is for sure the best reaction chanel on youtube by a mile. I thought i was subbed but wasnt and im watching this a good while. Subbed now
I'm probably going to need a neck brace after the end of this song lol. I just love it when songs pick up speed after the first few seconds, and Metallica are well known for doing that. Absolutely amazing song, and I can't wait till you react to more Metallica!! 🤘😆
You never finished the last song on Kill em all :/ also the load and reload album despite some people’s hatred for them are actually pretty good
Finally!!! underrated Masterpiece!!! 🤘 thank you bro, great reaction! Big vibes from Costa Rica
When I first listen to this song few weeks ago I was like "Dang, a very long and best song I ever heard from them😅" I really like the drums in the music, best part of the song
Your reaction shows the pure joy that I experience every time I hear this song. Great Reaction!! This is IMO one of the top 10 best Metallica songs ever. It grabs you at the very beginning and doesn't let go until the very end.
Loved this album as it came out when I was getting into metal in high school! One of my favorites from the album alongside the day that never comes , cyanide and my apocalypse ❤️
Death Magnetic is an absolute banger of an album for real.
Fun fact: this is yet another song about the Cthulhu mythos. I think the 4th of 5 in their discography?
Also, as for James, I'd say he's pretty widely considered a true legend in the metal world. You won't see much hate for him as a musician/singer. Not nearly as polarizing as a guy like Dave Mustaine from what I can tell.
Most definitely gotta do Bleeding Me. Your vids are awesome man! Keep it up!
Your reactions are so good lol
One of my favourite Metallica songs! So glad you reacted to it 😍 This whole album is 🔥
I still love former Guns N Roses drummer Steve Adler's reaction when Lars played Death Magnetic for him the first time. Adler reportedly said "You don't want to get slower as you get older, but jesus man...you don't get FASTER either!" lol
Death magnetic is definetely their most underrated album!
5:21 Speaking of playing it on guitar, this is one of my favorite Metallica songs to play. I've been playing for 10 years, so the song is easy enough to where I don't really have to try too hard. But it's complex enough and just the right amount of progressive that it's not boring and keeps you engaged. Very easy to get in the zone with this song. Super fun song to play, it's groovy and love head banging to it.
It's just fast af so keeping the stamina up is the killer. Fun song to play
A riff is defined as a short, repeated chord or melody loop of a more or less accompanying character. So pretty much every guitar part in rock n metal songs are riffs, except solos or fills, which are just like a one time per song, uniquely sounding thing
one of my favourite songs from them and yes I've listened to them for a very long time
Ahhhhh you sometimes see a video pop and feel like it was tailor-made for you.
Absolute god damn banger and (in my personal opinion) the best track on Death Magnetic.
Excited for this one
One of my fave metallica songs. Loved this album when it came out. Always felt this song would be a great theme song for the Akatsuki.
I love this album! First one I’ve heard full myself. I use to jam to this while mowing the lawn lol brings back memories
Fun fact: this is the 3rd song in a series of songs that they’ve done all based around the Cthulhu mythos. The other 3 are The Thing That Should Not Be, Call of Ktulu and Dream No More
Difficulty wise: it’s not super hard but does require some practice
Hey Alex you need to make a full Death Magnetic album review!
Seeing your face as happy as mine when I first heard this song makes me sure you'll fucking love the entire album!!!
There is no love/hate category. How could anyone not love James.🤘🤘🤘
Dude this video is beyond lit too
This isn't in between old and new, this is straight up new.
The entire album is kickazz!🤘🏻
Loved hearing this at the big 4 show at Yankee Stadium!!!
The solos on this album are amazing. It's over 10 years of pent up solos from Kirk Hammetts lead guitar blue balls
Duuuude I fookin' love this song by them!! Def helps me with my cardio 😂💀
Highly recommend the live performance of this in Nimes, France back in 2009. Epic setting, amazing videography and the boys were on fire that whole show. Best live performance of it imo.
One of my favorite songs on this album
.....you did this song a year ago. I know because I watched it the other day. It was titled "I have a secret birthday surprise for James Hetfield." or something like that.
Alex!!! Long time watcher first time putting up a comment. No body has reacted to dreams in inertia from the code orange!!! Please the first. I’m going to put this on a lot of your videos to hopefully get a response
I should listen to this one more often. I keep forgetting how amazing this song is
That was kickass
This is an absolute banger 😎
Heard this live at the last sound wave festival in Melbourne Australia. Was second time being front row. Look it up on their UA-cam think it’s there
Definitely my favourite song from this album! second the judas kiss, then third the day that never comes!
i swear i’ve seen u react to this on 2 other occasions
Dont think ive seen or heard anyone speak badly of James. Hes universally ultra respected
Great reaction Alex🤘🤘Keep the death Magnetic train rolling bro 👍 👍
First heard this song playing Guitar Hero: Metallica, and it's so underrated. Especially the second half, some of the best riffing Metallica has ever done
I remember discovering this song while on a church trip in like 2014 when I was 14 when I had just got this pair of beats 🎧 I was just happy to experience this for the first time
I remember recommending Death Magnetic to you maybe 2 years ago! Better late than never, but I love seeing you enjoy this album. Every goddamn song in this album is underrated and shamefully discarded. It has incredible solos, incredible ballads and instrumental, magnificent bridges like in Judas Kiss etc.. Just listen the whole thing and you'll see
Best song on there. I could listen to that 24/7/365 on repeat and never tire of it
This album gets a ton of shit for no reason. Sounds amazing. So underrated
The Metallica Flick "Through the Never" is absolutely unreal... I couldn't recommend it enough for a future react video.
Oh and as far as songs go, "Fuel" is 🔥.
Maybe I didn't see this anyone answer and Im super late to this, but the difficulty in learning this, solo included, is about a 6. I remember learning this in my sophomore year when this came out and I absolutely loved playing it. It took me roughly 3 hours to learn the whole song, with the exception of the solo which was weirdly less interesting, but in total for a smooth recording for my own prideful enjoyment was about 6 hours. This song is heavy and goes hard and I love the thrashing it makes me groove my body into while playing
"That was just your life" is a good song off this album, one of the few metallica songs i still don't know the words to (for obvious reasons)
I’ve been down with Metallica since Kill ‘Em All and this is my favorite song. Death Magnetic is 🔥🔥🔥
Fun fact about this song…
The solo is from a song they played the summer before this album came out. Look up Metallica new song, or Death is not the end. Also the intro riff was used as the intro riff on End of the Line also from Death Magnetic.
This album made my 2008 through 2011!!!
I could have sworn you have done a reaction to this song before!! I do love this song though- it’s in my top 5!! Death Magnetic was actually first thing that I found by Metallica, my best friend had been showing me some of their stuff and this is the first full album that I listen to on my own and I loved it! My favorite now is The Black Album but this is my second favorite and will always have a special place- so my favorite songs on Death Magnetic are this one (obviously) and The Day That Never comes and Cyanide!! 🤘🤘
In general, if the band made a music video for a song it is not a “deep cut”… that being said I am glad you checked this one out cause it’s one of my faves!
My absolute favorite from this album, I remember playing this on the Guitar Hero Metallica repeatedly. The 3 times I’ve seen Metallica each time was amazing.
You really need to do EVERY song off “Death Magnetic”🔥🤘. It was a return to form and much thrashier than previous albums and there isn’t a bad song start to finish on the album. It was praised at the time but has since sort of been forgotten and underrated. But it’s my favorite album of theirs since the Black album.
same best album since black album
These guys are legends James and Kirk just played the national anthem at the SF Giants game I was at like a week ago it was so sick.
If you’re looking for deep dives, Just A Bullet Away off of the Beyond Magnetic EP has one of their best guitar intros in my opinion. The song also seems pretty reminiscent of something off St. Anger which some people might not like.
The song on guitar hero was one of the funnest and hardest for me to play on expert! My wrist and arms would be on fire but OMG it was worth it!🎸
My youngest boy when he was 3 would beg me to play this song everytime we got in the car. N would sit in his car seat n head bang. If I did one thing right it was exposing them to the King's of Metal.
🤘😎
Definitely my favorite song from Death Magnetic with The Day that Never Comes and Judas Kiss right behind it. Such an underrated album and such a PERFECT BAND
The day that never comes is so underrated
I liked this song when I first heard it (obviously), but I always associate it with seeing them live. Kirk absolutely shredded it in concert & I daresay it was even the teensiest bit faster 😁
This album doesn’t get enough love
You reacted to this already my guy
Last time I saw them live was when they toured for this album...
Top 5 Metallica albums
1. Kill ‘em all
2. Death magnetic
3. Ride
4. Master
5. Injustice
Less talk, more metal!!! 🤘
Need to do the whole album.
The funny part about this video is that Alex still calls him self a “Hip-Hop Head”.
Broken beaten scarred…my favorite from this album bro. It’s the shit, you’ll dig it for sure. 🤘
In México live this song is amazing
They decided to remind everyone that they can simply crush us all whenever they want 🤘
Death Magnetic: The Judas Kiss, Suicide and Redemption(instrumental), Unforgiven III
Fixxer- 40th anniversary show- live- never played before this show
You gotta check out more live performances of these songs. They performed All Nightmare Long at Yankees Stadium that was amazing.
Awesome 😎 love the death magnetic album I bought it twice because it’s so good
