Honestly probably one of the most underrated new Metallica songs with one of the most unsettling music videos playing into the whole Night of the Living Dead theme on a megadisaster scale.
I always associate Metallica with my lowest point mentally. A friend of mine recommended Metallica to me and whenever life felt extra painful, I used their music to muffle out all other music and just zoned out to it. It brought me a lot of comfort when I was having days where I just wanted to scream and cry in an environment where that was never an option.
I remember first listening to this song when I was 5 on my dad's MP3 player, and it instantly became my favourite song ever. I listened to it all the time in elementary school, and even though I've found better songs by now, All Nightmare Long is still close to my heart.

This is one of my two favorite bands. I remember getting this album the Christmas after I came out (I believe I was 9). I now have the Ride the Lightning electric chair tattooed on my wrist. I hope to see them live one day. 🙂

The vocals of this song are a little haunting to me because I spent a couple weeks trying to edit the ...And Justice For All cover of this song to have vocals and correct pitch in class without getting caught. I got it done eventually but the vocals are burned into my brain. Still a fricking banger. Thank you for this piece of work, Jarrod!

I remember when Death Magnetic came out and I heard this song for the first time. I had heard the single (Cyanide) they released prior, which was pretty good, but when I heard this song I called up my friend (who is also a Metallica fan) and said "Metallica is FINALLY BACK!" and he certainly agreed. One of Metallicas all-time best songs! And you really nailed the drums! Great work!
So, apparently Death Magnetic has a bad rep among Metallica fans? I don't exactly see why, since it has a really strong tracklist (with Judas Kiss being my favourite), but hey. All Nightmare Long is also banging, so I'm just happy Jerod was having fun.
It's mainly because it was mastered HORRIBLY. It came out during the Loudness Wars where a lot of producers thought that audio clipping didn't really have a negative effect on the quality. They were wrong. The album still sold incredibly well, but the engineering behind it was under the "louder = better" mentality and it gets its bad rep from that.
I genuinely feel like Death Magnetic had some good songs, but for some reason, it felt like someone gave Metallica some canned music and told them to play it- it was missing something, like the soul was gone.
They were recovering from St. Anger then for Hardwired they recovered a lot more, still I want them to settle a little and come with a new album already!
Why don't you play Clone Hero? I feel you would be really amazing at it, get a whole new genre of fans and get some mad bragging rights, plus a whole new genre of music memes for you to choose! Maybe even a collab with JasonParadise?!
