The generation three TSI engine Besides building the bottom end of the engine What are you going to add on the top end of the engine and what’s the turbo setup Is it going be something useable for daily driving
Picking out my project TT right now. Sold my C8 and amg gt and am ready to go have a blast with this. Was thinking 400 crank would probably be a great spot for the Mk1 on the streets. This was definitely very helpful. Appreciate ya!
What's the next biggest turbo you recommend after K04-001? I want to spool quick, but be out of the dangers with the hefty spike I get. I'm full bolt on with APR K04 software, and actually love the performance of this setup, but I am used to this power level and want a bit more. Butt Dyno says maybe between 265-275, but I'd like to see closer to 350 awhp
I have a GT3071R on my 20th, and to me it’s a pretty much perfect turbo set up for a 1.8T. Spools up quick, and has a fair amount of potential for good useable power. Here in the mountains, 350 WHP in a MK4 is a barrel of fun.
Glad to hear and agree with you. Everyone wants these Dyno monsters but rather have something that is fun to drive and scares me a little. 350-400 whp on a mkiv is plenty of fun. I wish i could find a GT3071R as they are hard to find now at least in good shape.
Do you have a stock block? I'm at a crossroads on whether I should get rods being I wanted a hybrid k04 turbo at 300 hp. And according to the guy in the video he said that these turbos ruin the rods. Should I get rods or a different turbo?
@@jamilahmed979 honestly, both. For piece of mind. Mine has upgraded rods and pistons, and maybe it didn’t really need it but it’s also nice to not have to worry about it.
Dude. Great advice. I think a lot of people wear dyno numbers like a badge of honor. Oh you make 500, well I'll go 600! Most people are more than happy with 350-400WHP. A lot of times even that becomes too much and just turns into a burnout machine.
@@COMotorsports more tin tins lol jk you guys are great it is an inspiration to watch you guys explain some of your knowledge you know how. We all appreciate it please keep up the good work!!
You guys do great work! I love my ‘98 B5 A4 Sport - K04 Turbo - Forge DV and silicone air induction tube - high flow cat - custom exhaust - tuned ECU - custom air intake, etc. and it puts down 240 WHP and stills gets 28 Highway MPG, only gets about 16 MPG City, if I keep my foot out of it… which I don’t….
Who tuned it? I have a ‘99 b5 a4 AEB with similar mods. Ko4, high flow 3” cat, 3” exhaust, silicone boost pipes and a stock air box.I want to get mine tuned and was curious how you did it. To my knowledge the ecus are kinda hard to tune on the pre facelift models like ours
@@jaxon.frandrup if you want a more fine tuned build custom to your car go for moteza, otherwise unitronic is prob the best, plus the upgrade pricing on it is sick
I just got done building a 1.8T. All I did was BC valves, Supertech springs and retainers with IE rods. Everything else is stock or a simple replacement, like rings and bearings. It's not in the car yet but with a gt28 (it's a daily) I'm hoping to get 400ish to the wheels and 8000+rpm. Fuel will be E85 and methanol injection.
Have the same with my A4 (B6), it’s nice to comfortably rev out to 8K and have margin. It’s so fun, I do wish I went with full frame GT28 though. I have the GT2860 eliminator so it fits K03/04 manifold.
@@yankumarrah mine isn't in anything yet. I have a FWD B5 a4 and that was the plan but I recently got the chance to get an awd B5 a4 with no engine and unknown condition really. So idk what to do. But it's been a pain, if I would have went your route I wouldn't have a K04 on my car now. Currently makes about 300whp on E85 and methanol injection so it's fun but a week ago the clutch stopped working. The pedal feels normal but doesn't disengage the clutch. All the gears work if you float them, so just don't stop right. Lol...
@@yankumarrahSounds similar to mine. I just installed a fully built and ported AEB head on my stock AMB block. Using a billet 28rs on Apr manifold. Happy with the setup. I have a 2867 turbo I may throw on it soon since bigger turbos seems to work well on these w/ stock rods as Dave mentioned.
Hey guys! Been watching more & more of your videos lately.. I just picked up a 99 1.8t AEB Passat B5.5 with the O1E 6-Speed last fall @140k miles. $1200! Beautiful car - stored in a garage through our rust belt winters by PO. It's great to have some recently filmed videos showing badass builds on these cars. I won't be getting into fun power adders anytime soon, I've got a bunch of small stuff to conquer first. I've got a full URO parts suspension kit to finish installing. As well as Gates timing belt, new WP, etc to be installed as soon as the weather warms a bit. After that it's straight to K04 & some fun exhaust building.. you guys and some others are BIG motivation for me right now. I appreciate your in-depth explanations that could include newbs like myself to this side of the automotive industry. I currently work in parts at a VW dealership (access to lifts once a week after hours through work), & I have a little less than a decade of experience doing so for other manufacturers.. but all the information you guys share give me a WAY better idea of where/how I want to make my first changes to this car. Thank you!
Your going to get bored of the k04 turbo really quickly. I wish I never would’ve spent all that money and time on everything for that type of set up. It just gets old really quickly and you’re gonna want more power. There’s nothing quite like boosting 30+ psi with these motors! But best of luck with your aeb 1.8t! (Which is what I also have)
I love 1.8t's. Super stout platform. A great evolution from the bullet proof ABA's. I had a customer at the shop I worked at with a built 1.8 in an AWD B5 A4. Bilstein suspension. That was was docile on the street but a rocket on the track. I have a Stg 3 B5 S4, but have been trying to find a B5a4 for a fun daily. This video was so informative and spoke of what you should strive for realistically. Will follow.
Totally agree. But I would add the crank and cam bolts and vct delete for over 300hp. I've had those take out quite a few 1.8t's even using new OEM parts
honestly I think my current setup is the sweetspot for a street build, 81.5, 9.5:1 CP pistons, ibeam IE rods, ferrea valves, springs, stage 2 cams, ie intake, precision 5858 turbo... and a permanent awd setup, all the good stuff for 500-600 hp range, haven't dynoed yet
Great video guys learing everyday from your videos , I have a audi s3 8l awd 18t std bore, 20v. Ss exzhost valves. HBeam rods IE rifel drilled, G25-660 emu black. 1000cc injectors and high flow fuel pump with watermeth injection . Never tuned her on a dyno, only some road tuning. Boosting 1.8bar with a egn timming of 11degress. Afr under boost 11.2. But the car feels a bit slow for that boost level. Our fuel rating in SA 95 octain.
I used to have a 1.8t 2001 GLI back in the day I’m on my 2024 GLI now and thinking I’m probably going either IS38 on a low torque file or FBO Stage 2 E85 if Unitronic ever comes out with a E85 file for Gen 3 2.0T. I agree that people get caught up in the numbers instead of having usable power or just don’t even think about their application
I have a 20th GTI with a fully built motor, built transmission and aftermarket clutch. The goal was to go bug turbo. This year I bought my 7.5 golf R and the stock 300hp has been a blast! I haven’t even put more time into the GTI and going big turbo like I originally wanted, my GTI stayed at a stage 2 210hp and my stock 2018 golf R is my favorite car still. My mk4 GTI always gives me little problems and I got tired of it, with over 15k in parts and it just sits. I got greedy when I was younger and now it sits. 300hp should’ve been good but I bought into the hype and now my stick golf R gets all my attention
Great information about 1.8t upgrades! I also have a Fluidampr at 9:20. That was a great mod for my 1.8t! The Gen3 stuff you showed also looked nice. Thanks

I have had B5s for well over a decade, have had many of them, done MANY builds for myself and others (professionally and in my own gig) currently own 5 audis in my driveway rn, 2 1.8ts rn, stage 3 S4, 4.2 S4. Even with a super clean S4 i swear i have as much if not more fun in my B5 A4s😂 ive been building my B5 for all 10 years. Car got totalled and i literally moved the engine and everything over to a new one😂 it depends on what ypu are looking for. Ive had tons of fun fabbing up everything from large small frame turbos (non bolt in k04s) at the ragged edge of compressor efficiency, to custom BATs. Imho right in the middle is best. Gt2071r is always a goody, reasonably low lag and decent enough pep. T3t4s have a pretty large span of sizes that work well, even for some big power, Had a custom hybrid holset Hx35 Hx 40 professional wheel with a smaller exhaust housing that was tons of fun. More lag but better than most large frame turbos and still had a usable power band. IE rods, buy once and never worry again about anything you do. Ecs RA4 smfw and a B7 RS4 clutch and p.p for a good cheap clutch thatncan handle good power and drives phenominal. Valvetrain if youre pushing above 8250 rpm because you will 100% get valve float like clockwork at 8250. Midsize medium frame turbos are as about as big as youd want to go for decent driveability. Honestly the 5 speed gear ratio from the 2.8 v6 B5 is my favorite for 1.8ts. Little longer gear little more time in tge powerband without constantly having to drop out of it like the 01E does
Great video great advice I'm running 450 crank 420 torque on fast road 1.8t it's more than enough I spent out on the rest ie gear box clutch 4 wheel drive controller suspension loads of guys chasing the sun but if u can't put it down it's a waste. 😉
Best 20v setup I ever made was when I put the 1.8t head onto my g60... still had BBM twin screw supercharger but the built was high compression. Staged injection with methanol. Last less than a season but hell was it fast.
need to see that gen 3 build. thinking of getting 8V A3. got rid of the mk4 gti just finished b7 2.0t fsi. looking for next project. Love the content as always. You have to do a live feed for the drag car dyno.
Thanks for giving me more motivation to finish my 16vt, was looking at this to get insight for a buddies 1.8t but now with his swap done and ready to go...the coupes up for this spring lol
You made my day, I wanted the 500hp 1.8T but inmy country everything cost at least 70% more that in US. After watching this video I think I just need maximum 400hp because it is for a street car, daily. What do you sugest about turbos? I am looking at Garret GTX2867R GEN II. I am going to get some forged rod and pistons , and now I will need to change valves as you mentioned and spring. Thank you so much!
I can confirm it, with a big turbo you loose so much fun and happynes while driving it daylie in the streets traffic. With the 6speed manual gearbox it was a nightmare to spool up the 6266gen2, now with dsg it feels much quicker ( and actually it is ) and feels like a different car.
Love what you guys do and enjoy learning more about the 1.8T's. I may have missed out on a previous video that explains this, but was wondering (for a fwd MK4 platform) what would be the most reliable and capable engine code? I have a spare high mileage AUM engine... Not looking for more than 350bhp and I want it to be useable... Is the AUM engine a good base? Any recommendations for a turbo to pair with it that will spool quickly and still perform throughout the rev range? Any feedback would be awesome. And any recommendations on budget friendly parts would also be appreciated. 🤘🏻
S3 8L stroker street car with around 580whp give or take on a G30-770 currently and will be changing to G35-1050 in the new year, hoping for around 650whp. Drives beautifully with a DQ500 fitted instead of manual 02M.
Funny kus thats all i did to mine. IE Rods, Supertech Exhaust Valves, Supertech Valve Springs, ARP Headstuds and a ebay 3071R , made 403 been like that 2years now. If i had to do it again, ill do the same thing. Its a daily.
Dude I got smoked on a 2005 avant 1.8t head had a crack bought a new head turns out it’s from China now dude won’t do a return I would take stock power lol instead of a good winter driver I have a winter project that’ll need up going to junk yard it’s a shame to say I wick I had money and know how like you bro keep it going !!!!
Just got myself a Mk4 GTI, 1.8t, 260k km, plan is to give it some love focusing on reliability and hp "while I'm in there", ahould I rebuild the engine? Maybe switch up few parts, what can be done?
You guys are completly right. I am that guy who put a lot of stuff in the engine and now I get just 320hp and 360N.m. The car is so old (audi A3 1.8T - AGU) from 1997, that now is allways something broke, and with two kids and without extra time, I am trying selling the car. The engine have got rods, pistons, ARP bolts, exhaust valves, valve springs, etc, etc... It was a waste of money, for sure...
Agree with everything mentioned here. We were going to shoot for 4-450hp, but decided to go with FrankenTurbo F21. Supertech exhaust valves and complete valvetrain. IE connecting rods, arp crank, cam, flywheel bolts. Stock head bolts, oem seals, new oil pump. All from urotuning and fcp. Used the rest of the $$ to replace suspension spring/dampner (every nut/bolt), poly black series bushings(everything single one front to back), 42dd 3" tbe, standalone ecu. Skid plate, 2.5" same side intercooler and piping. It feels like a new car. Runs strong for daily. Plan is to autocross it but for now, it works. Looking forward to turbo video.
@COMotorsports We know. Lots of the money was used on the rest of the car. Just wanted to have engine ready for when the time comes for big turbo. There are so many big turbo options out there. Curious what combo you guys come up with. We also need time to save up...
When I've finished restoring my Audi TT's suspension and getting it as tidy as possible I'll be looking to make around 350-400whp. I know what ths kind of power level is like as I've had a few cars this powerful and thats perfectly adequate for street driving and then some. 😊
Its getting pretty hard to find the trigger wheel to make the 95.5mm crank work, most companies have discontinued the 2.1 stroker because of it. You are better of just using the 2.0 crank, plus you can rev higher with the 2.0 stroker, with the 95.5mm or 2.1 stroker you shouldnt rev past 8000rpm.
@@markus9333 I think its from a Amb, but its been a while so I might be wrong. I run a 2.1 stroker myself and if I could go back and start again, I would have done the 92.8 crank with 83.5mm pistons. Its pretty close to the 2.1 stroker but you can still rev to 9000rpm.
It seems like you were mostly talking about parts to keep the engine more reliable. I know you said that you are planning on a turbo video. I would like to hear your thoughts on other power adders (camshaft; intake manifolds; larger valves; big valve head etc...). Thanks guys!
great video ❤ id love to know more about how the 2.0 set up performed, i got a deal on new crank for a 2.0 build but your vr6 video is making want to sell it all and go to the darkside 😅😅
I have a 2004 Jetta 1.8t original motor/turbo ko3s, apr tuned stage 1+, and 250k miles and it runs so perfectly, I will be buried in it. I did replace a lot of parts I didn't like, mainly for performance purposes. Paid 2k$ for the car, parts/labor for the extra were 4k$, 6 years ago.
Power to weight is always a major factor people overlook when building an engine, newer cars have much higher bhp/lbf-ft but a Mk7R weighs nearly 1500kg whereas a Mk1 Golf weighs around 850kg, my point is, a BIG bhp engine doesn't mean you'll be able to get the power down in the same way with a lighter car.
good discussion and love the 1.8T talk. Bigger question is what do you guys sell or have access to for the 1.8t to make this 300-350WHP range. The Garrett GT's that used to be ATP turbo are long gone so other the T3 or T4 I dont see much options. I could be wrong though. Thanks again for all the knowledge transfer
Videos id like to see. Transverse to longitudinal swap, like AMU into an AEB A4. A strictly street build video 250-350hp-ish and how to get that power out of AWD, FWD, and RWD Available tune options to achieve desired results. Must have tools, tips, and tricks on Audi VW engines
Traverse to longitudinal... If it's just a 18t just swap so the longitudinal stuff in the transfers engine. The engine itself is the same. Tons of 300-350whp builds on our channel already with different tuning.
Hi, the turbo video would be awesome if it listed the other neccessary parts too. Like do you need injectors? Fuel pump? A new clutch etc. Thanks for your content!
I have a question, I wanna build a 1.8T but supercharger, make something different, to make around 300WHP and extremely reliable, do you guys accept If in the future I contact you guys and you give me a price, and I can send the engine for you guys to build it for me and then ship it back ready to mount? Do you do that kind of job? Can you accept a supercharger build or just turbo or non of that?
This makes me feel better about my decisions, my goal is 350+ whp just a street car with my 1.8t. Im about to order some IE rods. Should I get rifle drilling?
Did you make a video how to build a reliable 1.8T for daily street use? I'd like to upgrade my 1.4T (122hp) to a 1.8T. If possible something without direct injection to prevent carbon buildup on the valve stems and in the inlet.
I bought a clean 01 b5 a4 1.8t awm quattro. You mentioned that k04s ruin these engines/rods. The thing is i was thinking of getting a hybrid ko3 f21 turbo or the hybrid k03 tte280 turbo and have it tune to around 300hp. Just bcuz i would be dailying it and quick spooling would be better for dailying. So am i going to need rods being its a k04? Do you recommend a different turbo that spools early and could make around 300 hp? Or should i just get rods with a hybrid k04/k03?
Small frame angry spooly boys like k03/k04/hybrids on kill is what bends rods, they make a lot of boost under 2500-3000 = high torque = high cylinder pressure = pushing the limit of the rods.
Exactly what's said above. I also don't like the power band of a K04, nor have I ever seen one actually make any decent power in real life so it's a personal thing for me. The K04's on the 2.0T's work great for what they are.
Just a idea, but could you make a video about the sai delete and the n112,n249 ,vacuum, pcv all the hundreds of hoses delete? Basically shaving the engine bay. Of course some we need it so you could explain what they do and why we need them or not.
I have a good question about a 2.0T... 2014 B8.5 one day had a constant misfire. Seeing as how I already burnt an exhaust valve out of it I figured I did it again. When I took the spark plugs out to check compression I found the ground strap of the plug smashed closed! Good, equal, compression on all 4. I gapped the plug put it back in and the damn thing runs fine! How/what could have done that? It's been driving me crazy! If something got in to engine it would have to go through the air filter, turbo, innercooler, throttle body, and valve, then come back out past the valve, and through the turbo again!
@@COMotorsports the best 1.8t to build is the one you have, which I have an 06A block with IE rods, ported head with BC valves and Supertech springs and retainers. But my question was about what could have smashed a spark plug shut in my 2.0T. The car still runs fine after re gapping the plug. But I have no idea what caused it.
Hi, my setup: k04.023 turbo, 4 bar fuel pomp, 630 Bosch injectors, 3 inches sensor, big intercooler, steel tip, 3 inches downpipe, 2.5 exchaust. Can I get 320-350 hp?? I’m actually refreshing head. Should I change exhoust valves?
@@COMotorsports I mean like, what are the best ways to upgrade your 1.8t on a budget. Say if you wanted to spend 1.5k or 2.5k only how far would you get? For a street oriented car
@@COMotorsports that's interesting, what sort of gains can you expect over stock just from a tune? Can you do much with the stock ecu or is it worth getting something to help with the tune?
I’m running stock internals, techtonics 2.5 downpipe, 2.5 techtonics magno flow exhaust , stage 1 united motorsports tune, and a cold air intake What else would you recommend? It’s my daily. I’d say it’s possibly some where in the 235-245 hp arena but not positive. United motor sports only posted their boost but not so much the actual gains in power. It’s been running great, I love my 2003 1.8t. I can’t think of anything else to get more power without having to start spending a lot more money ( cough; bigger turbo) Thoughts?
Love your content! I just bought a 2002 Beetle Turbo S. It's my 6th VW. Daily driver. What is a good setup for around 400hp? Eventually I'd like to make it awd as well. Thanks
The difference between 6 seconds 0-60 and 5 seconds is neck breaking. My dads Silverstone 2001 jaguar was a supercharged v8 with over 400 hp .. not gonna lie. That was a fast car.
I wish that affordable standalone ECUs release direct injection options soon, like Haltech and Ecumaster. After the 1.8T, its pretty much just DI, which sucks for moding with the same freedom and you get stuck with the stock ECU, etc. I could be wrong, but this is the feeling I've gotten from researching things around, before I started working on my 1.8T
The shift will change soon I think. Most of the newer ECUs being released I believe are designed around making DI an option. However not available yet I think the capabilities are there and you will see more aftermarket ECU be able to do it. There's a lot to it especially on the VW/Audi side so it's not an easy task.
Good afternoon companions, I am the owner of a Seat Leon Cupra R with bam 225hp engine, what power can I achieve with an airtec intercooler and a down pipe keeping everything else original? thank you all

Here in Latam we had Jetta A4 until 2014 (Jetta mk4.5 - or Jetta Clasico GLI search for it, it is just a facelip), I own one of these, with only 60k miles, but it is automatic, can the Tiptronic transmission handle up to 300hp?
I am building a Mk3 track car and bought a 2000 Audi S3 motor and would like to get about 340hp which on the track will scoot fast enough for me. Being on a tight budget, do you think that I could get that with stock internals and some affordable mods? Always enjoy your vids.
i need to build a uphill rally 1.8t awm......... dry sump recomended? some inclines are steep and i know it starves of oil. ....sea level to 3000 ft elevation.
Im planning on building my 1.8 Quattro into a 2.0 stroker. Wanting 450-550hp max. Is a GT28 or GT30 Garrett turbo the better option? I know the lag with the GT30 is significant but is it mitigated enough with the stroker kit? Will not be racing or tracking the car, just want a build that is fun and pulls on average street car builds. Great video BTW!
What dose it take to make a reliable 350-400 whp daily audi a4 Quattro, almost done wit suspension and drivetrain upgrades. You guys always have great contact always enjoy watching your videos.
So I’m building my 1.8T MK6.5 Jetta. I plan on stroking to a 2.0 with the newer Atlas 2.0 crankshaft with forged rods, pistons, Biagio IS38 comparative turbo, head studs, main studs, valves and springs, rs3/4 injectors and converting it to AWD from a MK6 R or R32 staying manual with a stage 4 ecs 6 puck clutch. I’ve done a large handful of mods to prepare like engine, dogbone and transmission mounts, aluminum throwout, 18z front brakes and MK7 GTI performance pack rear brakes, etc. My car is very Frankenstein as you can see lol. I don’t want the world for my car but I want to beat USP Motorsports “Project Madonna” making 550 whp or so. At that point it wouldn’t be my primary daily but I would still drive it often. Am I in over my head? I believe it’s possible and still comfortable to drive mostly but I’d like a professional builder’s opinion. I don’t need to be the fastest, I just want to come close to the inspiration. I believe I can do it over time and it’ll be worth it.
All is possible, but does all make sense, only your time and budget can decide that. If you want more power and AWD buy a MK7R or Audi A3/S3. It will save you lots in the end.
@@COMotorsports I understand buying a 7R/A/S3 but I wanna make something different and it’s only been done by few but it can be done fairly easily and not too much out the pocket considering the result if you can source parts and install. I’m fortunate enough I can do all work, except tuning, with almost all diagrams at my finger tips being a certified VW tech at a dealership. Ik what I’m asking for will have headaches and, hopefully not many, but a good amount of broken parts. People don’t give the Jetta’s enough love and I wanna show it’s doable.
@@COMotorsports I’ve always preferred performance sedans in my history of cars. The Jetta is not performance out the box but given it’s a golf platform, it’s makes it easy to source parts and Frankenstein for a real unique and functional build.
@@MauriceEllerbee Your biggest issue will be tuning. If you want an AWD sedan the A3 is the ticket as tuning is readily available to do what you want. However If you're sticking with the Jetta don't back yourself into a corner and prepare an ACTUAL tuning solution for your application and more specifically ECU. It may even be worth trying to migrate to a A3/R ECU for tuning for what you're trying to accomplish. That will be your largest hurtle.
@@COMotorsports luckily the company I’m getting the Biagio turbo from is partnered with a flash tuner but I’d like to in time after install get a dyno tune. I thought the ECU definitely might hold me back. I’ve had trouble finding a good aftermarket but for Jetta’s I mainly see MK4’s. I’ve researched and found everything else thankfully.
Ok I have a gen 3 Audi a3 1.8tfsi It is a daily - I just want it to sound good and have some fun in it - I’ve got a few bits and bobs on it like I commented on a pervious video I got it mapped and it’s not running to go so I took it if the road I may have a crack in thermostat housing but my question is I’m looking for around 350/400bhp to the wheels and around the same in torque what would I need for this as it’s still stock internals and stock clutch set up and stock turbo although I dose have stage 2 map and gear box map done with the stage 2 supporting mods such as 3 inch decat 3 inch non res to dual pipe at back big charge pipes big intacooler big turbo elbow and air intake better spark plugs and coil packs and a better diverter valve I’m actually thinking putting a resonator back in it haha just want it around that 350/400wbh mark will I need fuel pump or turbo upgrades or clutch upgrades ?
l have 1.8T AWT its all wheel drive and 5 speed manual, currently stage 1 with remap and air filter, it is with a K03 turbo and its around 190-200hp, l wanna go stage 2 and achieve around 280-300hp. l use the car as a daily/street car. What should l upgrade, what would you suggest to achieve that?
Hopefully this helps some folks when building their big turbo 1.8Ts.
Much appreciated!! I love what u guys do! It's impressive!!
Thank you it does...

The generation three TSI engine
Besides building the bottom end of the engine
What are you going to add on the top end of the engine and what’s the turbo setup
Is it going be something useable for daily driving
Whats a good replacement for the eliminator? You know.. since theres no way to get em.
@@115Jester I have no clue. Mine is a T3 flange.
Dude. Great advice. I think a lot of people wear dyno numbers like a badge of honor. Oh you make 500, well I'll go 600! Most people are more than happy with 350-400WHP. A lot of times even that becomes too much and just turns into a burnout machine.
Looking forward for the "turbo setups" video! Keep the content coming! Especially 1.8t content!
Thanks!
Can't thank you enough for the constant support. Be sure to check out our next video.

Great set up!
No they don’t! You will throw a rod out the side of your block! I did with a hybrid ko4 with about 330 hp
I've had those take out quite a few 1.8t's even using new OEM parts
crank and cam bolt aren't required for those power levels, they will take you a lot further.

Perfect explanation.

I have a mild build big turbo wagon. It's fun for what it is. I will have to get a couple more things for the motor. I drive it almost everyday.

The F21 from what I know is not going to make ANYWHERE near your power goals. Just a heads up so you're not disappointed when the time comes .

What’s your opinion on 1.9tdi crankshaft for a stroker build? My plan is to use in for street/sometimes track
What type of trigger kit the tdi crank needs?
@@markus9333 I think its from a Amb, but its been a while so I might be wrong. I run a 2.1 stroker myself and if I could go back and start again, I would have done the 92.8 crank with 83.5mm pistons. Its pretty close to the 2.1 stroker but you can still rev to 9000rpm.
@@markus9333 its not the Amb, I will have to think about what trigger wheelnis needed.
The 2.1 does not rev high it’s imbalanced a 2.0 will rev higher and thus give more power.
It seems like you were mostly talking about parts to keep the engine more reliable. I know you said that you are planning on a turbo video. I would like to hear your thoughts on other power adders (camshaft; intake manifolds; larger valves; big valve head etc...). Thanks guys!

Ima go catless downpipe and CAI with a tune, is there a noticeable difference in performance?
Power to weight is always a major factor people overlook when building an engine, newer cars have much higher bhp/lbf-ft but a Mk7R weighs nearly 1500kg whereas a Mk1 Golf weighs around 850kg, my point is, a BIG bhp engine doesn't mean you'll be able to get the power down in the same way with a lighter car.
Mk1 being a fwd will struggle with alot of power to put the power down

good discussion and love the 1.8T talk. Bigger question is what do you guys sell or have access to for the 1.8t to make this 300-350WHP range. The Garrett GT's that used to be ATP turbo are long gone so other the T3 or T4 I dont see much options. I could be wrong though.

Short answer, everything.

Transverse to longitudinal swap, like AMU into an AEB A4.
A strictly street build video 250-350hp-ish and how to get that power out of AWD, FWD, and RWD
Available tune options to achieve desired results.
Must have tools, tips, and tricks on Audi VW engines
Traverse to longitudinal... If it's just a 18t just swap so the longitudinal stuff in the transfers engine. The engine itself is the same.
Tons of 300-350whp builds on our channel already with different tuning.
Hi,
the turbo video would be awesome if it listed the other neccessary parts too. Like do you need injectors? Fuel pump? A new clutch etc.
Thanks for your content!
We have a video of how much the hooptie cost, it goes threw most everything.
If possible something without direct injection to prevent carbon buildup on the valve stems and in the inlet.
my b5s4 burnt down so i bought a s line b5a4 i plan on building👍
@@hansbrekke4784 thanks looks like I'm going to need rods.
@COMotorsports I see. Gt2871r it is then 👍
Just a idea, but could you make a video about the sai delete and the n112,n249 ,vacuum, pcv all the hundreds of hoses delete? Basically shaving the engine bay. Of course some we need it so you could explain what they do and why we need them or not.
That information is readily available in depth on the internet already.
great vid !!!!
We have a video of what 1.8t to build... watch that.
@@COMotorsports the best 1.8t to build is the one you have, which I have an 06A block with IE rods, ported head with BC valves and Supertech springs and retainers. IE rods and a hybrid K04 is just good times lol. Rods are a must tho

@@COMotorsports I mean like, what are the best ways to upgrade your 1.8t on a budget. Say if you wanted to spend 1.5k or 2.5k only how far would you get? For a street oriented car
@@tomisthename10 best bang for the buck if it's stock is tuning it.
@@COMotorsports that's interesting, what sort of gains can you expect over stock just from a tune? Can you do much with the stock ecu or is it worth getting something to help with the tune?
I had a b5a4 with drop in ie rods , comp 5152 turbo stock head intake, that made 377 awhp on 93 pump w/m injection
I’m running stock internals, techtonics 2.5 downpipe, 2.5 techtonics magno flow exhaust , stage 1 united motorsports tune, and a cold air intake
What else would you recommend? It’s my daily. I’d say it’s possibly some where in the 235-245 hp arena but not positive. United motor sports only posted their boost but not so much the actual gains in power. It’s been running great, I love my 2003 1.8t. I can’t think of anything else to get more power without having to start spending a lot more money ( cough; bigger turbo)
Thoughts?
Love your content! I just bought a 2002 Beetle Turbo S. It's my 6th VW. Daily driver. What is a good setup for around 400hp? Eventually I'd like to make it awd as well. Thanks
The difference between 6 seconds 0-60 and 5 seconds is neck breaking.
My dads Silverstone 2001 jaguar was a supercharged v8 with over 400 hp .. not gonna lie. That was a fast car.
So I guess I over built my 1.8t lol Can’t wait to drive my drag car with my setup hopefully she does great.
Best of luck.
What exhaust valves are a good go for the 350hp setup? Seen stock ones die, not fun. Guess its from old age as much as power?
They're just not up to the heat.
Great video...What about crank girdle kits?... Some say are overrated some say they are necessary...
Depends on your power goals I guess. 99% of people do not need them.
What about the Ignitron ecu?
Seen talk about RusEfi doing DI support with external DI driver box
@@polarxtt definitely doesn't and likely will never do DI. It doesn't have the power I don't believe.
Used the ignitron ecu on my B6 avant (Garrett G30-900 turbo and built engine) was hands down the best standalone I've ever used. 👍
Good afternoon companions, I am the owner of a Seat Leon Cupra R with bam 225hp engine, what power can I achieve with an airtec intercooler and a down pipe keeping everything else original? thank you all

Hi iv GT a 2003 auq 1.8 20v turbo and when I start first thing on morning it struggles to start 2 times then goes ok wud it be a coil pack out ? Or any ideas please thanks
Qual è la configurazione massima che mi consigli per strada su un AJQ?
Modifiche, setup…tutto?
Here in Latam we had Jetta A4 until 2014 (Jetta mk4.5 - or Jetta Clasico GLI search for it, it is just a facelip), I own one of these, with only 60k miles, but it is automatic, can the Tiptronic transmission handle up to 300hp?
Gearbox video, 5spd 6spd power limitations, cures, plug and play swap options if any, be cool video for 1.8T series?
We may do something to cover that at some point. Thanks
I am building a Mk3 track car and bought a 2000 Audi S3 motor and would like to get about 340hp which on the track will scoot fast enough for me. Being on a tight budget, do you think that I could get that with stock internals and some affordable mods? Always enjoy your vids.
@@EuroNole yes stock engine is fine there with proper tuning.
You guys should do the same video but with the 2.0t version!!! FSI and TSI. Any chance of that happening?
i need to build a uphill rally 1.8t awm......... dry sump recomended? some inclines are steep and i know it starves of oil. ....sea level to 3000 ft elevation.
If you find a dry sump kit available now let me know.
Depending on the 28 it won't be enough to make 550whp.smaller 30 frame is probably the better choice
You didn't watch the video at all did you? LOL
I think the best option in that case is the 3071
Any chance of going some videos on the ea113 2.0 tfsi motors?
Is the agu engine good for about 300bhp and does it need major internal changes
What dose it take to make a reliable 350-400 whp daily audi a4 Quattro, almost done wit suspension and drivetrain upgrades. You guys always have great contact always enjoy watching your videos.
Appreciate the comments, this video should cover that question, in regards to turbo size we have another video coming.
Ok I have a gen 3 Audi a3 1.8tfsi
It is a daily - I just want it to sound good and have some fun in it - I’ve got a few bits and bobs on it like I commented on a pervious video I got it mapped and it’s not running to go so I took it if the road I may have a crack in thermostat housing but my question is I’m looking for around 350/400bhp to the wheels and around the same in torque what would I need for this as it’s still stock internals and stock clutch set up and stock turbo although I dose have stage 2 map and gear box map done with the stage 2 supporting mods such as 3 inch decat 3 inch non res to dual pipe at back big charge pipes big intacooler big turbo elbow and air intake better spark plugs and coil packs and a better diverter valve I’m actually thinking putting a resonator back in it haha just want it around that 350/400wbh mark will I need fuel pump or turbo upgrades or clutch upgrades ?
Cool video.
When you say do exhaust valves, any specific kind or replace with new OEM?
Upgraded not stock.
@@COMotorsports This is like the third person you didn't tell what kind of exhaust valves. lol
Supertech valves!!!!!
l have 1.8T AWT its all wheel drive and 5 speed manual, currently stage 1 with remap and air filter, it is with a K03 turbo and its around 190-200hp, l wanna go stage 2 and achieve around 280-300hp. l use the car as a daily/street car. What should l upgrade, what would you suggest to achieve that?
