It looks like Smokey was feeling this one HARD.
There's NOTHING like driving around in the fall, with the smell of autum leaves in the cool air and the windows down, with Typo O blasting out of the Bose. There's something just magical about it.

    Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk,
    known professionally as Peter Steele,
was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist, bassist and composer of the gothic metal band Type O Negative.
Used to be in a late 80s metal band:
    ' Carnivore ' ...
    Then " Gothic " / ( Vampire ) , Metal
I met him a lot of times he & the band Type O Negative performed here in the New England area, ( MAss, RI, etc. ), throughout the 90s
    & they're from NYC ...
    He's REALLY tall, (* 6' 8" ),
Loves the country " Iceland "
    a.k.a. the " Gentle ' Jolly Green ' Giant ",
had lots of medical problems, especially his heart condition b'cos he's so tall ...
    Long story short ...

    There's a lot of keyboard sounds & it's a Gr8 LP, there's others of songs / albums:
    - Slow, Deep & Hard
    - Bloody Kisses, (* Origin of the Feces, LIVE)
    - ' October Rust '
    - ' World Coming Down ', ( weird b'cos it shows the Twin Towers on the album cover before 9/11 happened! )

I'm real late to this party, but I've been a fan since Carnivore. I was just a kid back then, but I got a bootleg cassette from family in NY. When "Origin of the Feces" hit (a play on Charles Darwin's "The origin of the species"), I almost immediately recognized the band despite not knowing anything about the end of Carnivore and the formation of Type-O. It was just "Holy fuck, I know that sound, it's different but familiar". It wasn't until "Christian Woman" came out that it got any airplay in my region, but they were an absolute hit in my home town.
The accent is just his Brooklyn Accent. Most singers lose a lot of their accent when they sing because of vowel substitution, but he leaned into his a lot, to the point it became a bit of a joke. Their song "I like Goils" is really "I Like Girls" sung in a Brooklyn accent, but fit the whole goth theme, lol.
He was also told by a critic what many singers are told, to avoid hard "R" sounds because they are considered "ugly" in a musical sense, so instead of following convention, he doubled down and would roll his Rs very dramatically, purely out of spite, just a passive-aggressive "Fuck you, don't tell me how to make music". But it worked. There are a lot of little spiteful quirks to his style like that, which gave him a very unique voice. He was also an absolute perfectionist at times, despite the "I don't give a fuck" persona. But that wasn't a contradiction to him, he didn't give a fuck what others thought about his music as long as he was satisfied with it, which he almost never was, as stated in nearly every interview he gave.
The dude was a legend. I honestly didn't believe it when he passed. In part because they had faked his death before, lol. Several years prior, they had announced his death on the band's web page, just as a joke. There's so many dark jokes like that in their music, those guys had a great sense of humor.
For what it's worth, Kenny Hickey of Type-O has a new project, "EYE AM". It's fucking awesome.
It's got a definite Chris Cornell kind of vibe, but heavier.

I was tickled to see that Smokey already knew the band and was a fan. He even knew the album it was on and back in the day before the internet of today, Type O was pretty niche. You had to be a goth or just hang with a very eclectic crowd really to ever stumble upon them. They were about as underground as you could be while still having an MTV music video. October Rust is still a tradition for me and my best friend. He loves Autumn and we load it up starting on my birthday and ending on Halloween as I treat all of October as a holiday. We'll sing along, lament that Peter is gone, and talk about our days as social misfits.

His real name is Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk. His father was of Polish and Russian descent and his mother of Scottish-Irish, Norwegian, and Icelandic ancestry.

Creepy Green Light, Anesthesia (one of the most wide ranging in terms of vocals), Everyone I Love is Dead, WOLF MOON (read the lyrics to get in the mind of Peter's dark sense of humor). One of the great things about this band is they don't take themselves seriously. The songs are fun and dark, but they are super funny, nice guys in all their interviews.

3:23 Pete was in a hardcore band called Carnivore before Type O Negative. Check them out too.

Guys. Absolutely love this reaction y’all chose to do. If you want suggestions from October Rust, you might as well just react to the whole entire album. That way you get the full experience the way it was intended. But some major stand outs are “Wolf Moon”, “Red Water”, and “Cinnamon Girl”

Yeah Wolf Moon was actually the song that got me into them. Story of that song might be strange to some but I don’t give a fuck I love it lol

I was watching Type O Negative/Cradle of Filth in Milwaukee the night Dimebag got murdered. Peter stopped after a song, went backstage, came back out and ended the set short. The next day I heard the news and realized someone probably told him.

Hell yea, I’m just going through some favorite bands and seeing if you two have reacted to them. So glad to see Type O. Now do some of the Misfits, Sisters of Mercy and more Goth bands.

So many good ones, especially from that album. Die With Me, Burnt Flowers Fallen, In Praise of Bacchus, Haunted...

My two favorite bands are Slayer and Type O Negative. These are two very different bands but both feed my need for heavy music. A few October Rust songs you could check out are in Praise of Bacchus, Die with Me, or Wolf Moon, especially if you liked this one. Off of other albums there is Gravity, Chrisitan Woman, White Slavery, Anesthesia... there are just too many good ones to name them all. RIP Peter Steele.

Omg Type O Negative was amazing! Seeing the band live was always one of my favorite things- I used to ‘follow’ the band lol. Lots of shows ❤️ They have all their ‘radio hits’ -but their live shows where half their best ‘punk rock epics’. There gothic rock is bomb but their punk rock has so much character. My favorite they ALWAYS played was ‘We Hate Everyone’ - ‘Xero Tolerance’ is super fun too. They just had such an amazing range of talent. I love their whole catalog - these just remind me of what I loved to see live. The high energy stuff. Peter was truly a sweet deep soul. I still can’t believe he has been gone this long and so damn young.

I was a junior in high school when this came out I absolutely loved it then and still do after all these years. This is one of those bands as soon as I hear them I immediately think of my friends and high school and smile. I miss those days much.

Didn’t know you were a TON fan.
Not hard to guess I’m a bit of a fan myself, lol.
In all honesty, I really only know October Rust really well - I chose this name way back in the beginning of Internet stuff when I happened to be crushing on October Rust.
    RIP Pete
You KNOW you gotta do In Praise Of Bacchus. ❤❤❤

The first album and mock live album were thrash metal because Peter's previous band Carnivore which later disbanded was a thrash band. Peter later formed Type O Negative and used songs he had written for Carnivore for Type O Negative's first album because waste not want not. Peter had said he formed Type O Negative because he wanted the chance to actually sing and not just scream and yell into the mic all the time. I could be wrong about this last statement but that is what I remember.

I met Peter Steele at record store in Phoenix called Zia Record's in the 90s. I was outside waiting on a friend and this dude walks up, Im 6'2 and he was at least 6'8 and goes hey brother can I bum a smoke. We started choppin it up and I can honestly say he was funny. Very nice dude and gave me tickets to his show. Got to party with him afterwards. He went hard in the paint, but around sun up he bid us fairwell. He left this world too soon. Christian Woman would be a good reaction vid. Dueces

Haven’t listened to them in a minute but Type O is a solid band, this is a short version to the original which is better. I would recommend checking out “green man” “Todd ship Gods ” and “I don’t wanna be me”

I’m not a big fan of Rap, I mainly grew up on Metal and Hard Rock, but I love that you guys feel the energy of music. Peter Steele, well The Green Man himself is one of my greatest influences that helped me progress playing the Bass and Guitar and helped me through my addictions. I have friends that have shown me some Rap music/artists and I do enjoy a lot of the beats. Music is universal, so i’m glad you guys enjoy my favorite band. I’ll keep an eye on certain Rap artists in honor of you guys! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Great videos guys!!!
