That entire album was perfect. I was living in a homeless shelter and I borrowed that CD from a public library. I still have it. Got me through the worst time of my life. Anesthesia still makes me cry

Peter is probably one of the only few humans that ever existed who understood women perfectly. He was a gift to us. I wish I could have been the recipient of his love
doubtful. he had an idealistic view of women which is not surprising given his catholic family upbringing (it's typical of all Abrahamic cultures) and idealistic standards for romance. this was a gift in the sense that helped him sing conveying so much emotion and write amazing music. but it doesn't seem to help anyone with the reality of daily life. in fact for the little we know his sentimental life was a train wreck: a quick, failed marriage when young, an attempted suicide "because he fell in love with the wrong person", an entire record composed as a fantasy murderous revenge against his ex gf who cheated on him (perfect proof of the madonna-wh**e complex), jailed for assault beating almost to death a second guy another gf had kept secret from him for years, and in the end he died never having found a life partner. instead it seems like he had a lot of casual s3x with random groupies throwing themselves at him and when it came to relationships he gave his heart and soul quickly and recklessly to terrible women who treated him like crap. if he actually had a true understanding of women, his choices in partners would have been wiser. but then we wouldn't have had so much amazing music, just another regular, content guy with no need to let out the demons tormenting him.
I went to visit Peter's grave this past December. It was a pilgrimage id been meaning to make for years. I stood there listening to "The Green Man and Haunted' , thinking about all the great times I'd had at Type O shows, how much their music meant to me and how much I dearly miss this man who was such a huge influence on me creatively, that I unfortunately never had a chance to meet in person. Type O's music has pulled me back from the darkest times in my life, and been the soundtrack for some of the happiest. I will treasure these songs forever. \m/
makes me so happy you didn't shit all over this and your reactions are exactly what I expect to see from someone who connects to music when they feel it. pure bliss and magic. this man has saved many lives, mine included. hope you can break down another one of your songs because I thoroughly enjoy your honesty, beauty and word play. very relaxing. thank you.
Crap! I must add!! Don't bother with the video version of September Sun. Try the full length. But if you wanna know who Lord Petrus was as a man, then look no further than there. He and Kenny really belt out the vocal emotion. I would assume you would feel Peter (HA!) in the same manner you feel Devin Townsend.
Just so the vocal coach here knows. Pete was 6’8” tall and was in Playgirl. Lol... Type O was a unique band and Peter Steele was a genius. Miss their music.
RIP Peter Steel... I met him a handful of times when he and TON was in the bay area. He had a fantastic sense of humor and a brilliant mind. After the first time meeting him who would have guessed he would remember me or any of my friends (band members). The second time we crossed paths we were at a well known eating and drinking establishment. He saw us out of the corner of his eye and walked over to join us. He remembered the names of most of us. That was an epic meal with great company. He cracked jokes about being in a tavern during a game of D&D and picked out our characters. This was in the very late 90's. When we crossed paths after that he never failed to remember my name. His sudden passing broke the spirits of many who knew him.
So I'm married and have 2 wonderful kids. I've never had any homosexual inclinations but Peter's voice is the sexiest voice I've ever heard, man or woman.
I was LITERALLY just dreaming that you were doing one of mine. Am I even awake right now? There are three things on my face right now. A keyboard, a purring cat, and a smile. And Type-O Negative was the first band I ever saw play live. I was like 13 years old. My bro walked me down to the stage between sets, and Pete was on stage picking up gear or something. My bro yelled to him that it was my first show ever, and I love Type-O. So this 7' tall giant warlock in white makeup, with jet black hair, and pecs the size of my entire chest leans off the stage over me, and shakes my hand, and says in that voice "Hello little boy. How are you? I thought he was legit going to eat my soul. About 14 years later, and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool metalhead. Seen Type-O another 4 or 5 times. And it was the first time I ever hurt so bad to hear one of my favorite dudes had died. But now you get to hear him for the first time, and Pete gains some immortality in one of your most excellent reaction videos! Much love RVA. If you get a minute, find the full versions of Christian Woman, and Black No. 1. His singing is all over the place. Epic. ...while you're at it just listen to all of Bloody Kisses.
Pete had a great sense of humor. After finishing the set in Pittsburgh he leaned into the mic and said in his deep baritone, "Sorry." The place erupted with laughter. Best concert I've ever seen.
Sorry! Little late to the game here. I'm from PGH & just recently started getting into their music (regrettably tardy; will never forgive myself). PLEASE dish all the details of this Pgh show if you can find it in your heart. I need to live vicariously through your experience. This would just make my day! :-)
I saw them in Atlanta and at Peter said "Don't feel obliged to applaud. We're paid the same either way." He was hilarious, genuine, and extremely talented. I've worn out quite a few of their CDs.
So so sooooooo jealous! Thank You for the feedback!!! I've just been in such a funk recently realizing that the days of REAL music are over (or at least hanging on by a thread) & we will most likely NEVER see the likes of guys/musicians like this ever again; it's just too depressing. I also just purchased 3 of their albums & am saving up for the rest. Any suggestions for any current artists/bands that I should check out, would be greatly appreciated. :-)
One of my most cherished memories is Type O Negative at the Masquerade in Atlanta September 11th 2003. We're having fun chanting "YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK!!!" Pete interjects and goes, " We suck? WE SUCK?! While you're spending tomorrow working some shitty job, going to school, or begging someone for money, I'll be in my hotel room eating Fruit Loops and jerking off to Betty Rubble." Best frontman I've had the pleasure of witnessing live.
Met him on several different tours. We both sat on the back of my car in Shreveport Louisiana before a show and hung out with everyone at the preshow autograph party. Very generous man. Miss you brother!!!
Such a major loss to the music world. He had atrial fibrillation, basically an irregular heartbeat, and died of an aortic aneurysm at 48. It’s hard to tell in the video, but Peter was 6’7”...a giant of a man, but very gentle and caring by all accounts. I remember reading the news and I’m not ashamed to say I cried a little, just as I did when I learned Layne had died. At least we have the albums they made so his unique voice lives on. Edit : Thank you for doing Type O, I feel they were one of the most underrated bands.
@@GabrielleCheri Oh! Really? Where did you find that info? Damn... that's even more of a shame than if it had been his heart... you can treat diverticulitis and live with it for quite a while... :/
Carol Prado Yes, truly a shame. Peter’s family runs an official Facebook page called “The Real Peter Steele Ratajczyk Page” where they post random tidbits about Peter and old photos never before seen like childhood etc.
Oh yes, SO real. I had the pleasure of seeing them perform live. This song sounded EXACTLY like the studio version, just a tiny bit more raw. They opened for Mötley Crüe. Type O Negative's whole set bewitched me. There was this mesmerising Demigod on stage. I could not look away... And would have been happy if They had played the rest of the evening. The next day I went out and brought their whole back catalogue. Because I Needed to hear that voice and that music more. You can lose yourself in their CDs... I highly suggest picking up the October Rust CD. Put on your headphones and melt. I know I did. I miss Peter, he was unique and irreplaceable.
Oh wow Rebecca, if you're just now discovering Peter Steele and Type O Negative you have opened the proverbial Pandora's Box of melodic metal, and have heard one of the greatest metal singers in the last 30 years at least. For more of that insane baritone and fantastic power and control try the uncensored _full_ version of their song _Christian_ _Woman_ next. Fun fact: Peter was so big and tall that the "normal-sized guitar" you see him playing here is actually a bass. He was also one of the nicest and most charming (in his quirky way) metal singers I've ever met in person, or even heard of. We miss you Peter!
It's amazing how you have the ability to take a song I love and make me love it even more. By pointing out details I never realized were there, I'm able to enjoy my favorite music even more than I already did. I'd love to see your reaction to Devil Doll
Devil Doll would be an amazing reaction but with how the albums are structured Rebecca would have to react to one of the two songs on Eliogabalus. Seeing a The Girl Who Was.....Death or Dies Irae reaction would be insane but a 60 minute react video is probably too much to expect. Mister Doctor and his speaksinging is top shelf. Haunted, World Coming Down or September Sun would be great Type O reacts. Seeing a react to Ghost, Ulver or Diablo Swing Orchestra would be great too.
@@Phantomgreen29 There must be a Devil Doll that's different than the one I'm referring to. The one I'm talking about sings jazz, blues and rockabilly. Sexy, breathy and sultry voice ... like a lounge act x1000. Search for a song called "Bourbon In Your Eyes." And "If I Died In Your Arms" will give you goosebumps
@@kurtmcdonald7113 I've heard them and that particular band doesn't click with me. I do get into the dark cabaret style but that band feels flat to me. The Devil Doll I was talking about is a mix of classical, opera, rock and traditional music. Definitely worth a listen.
@@Phantomgreen29 I wouldn't call them flat. I think intentionally subdued is a better description. I'm not a fan at all of the singers that do a nonstop vocal gymnastics routine for every song. I want to hearing singing, not an example of a singer's entire vocal range during a single song
I'm a 40 year old male and this song makes me tearful every time I listen to it. Therefore I don't listen it that often and yet is one of my favourite tracks of all time. Glad you discovered it, Rebecca.

95 it was the Far Beyond Touring the World Tour. I saw them on the 3rd of Feb during that tour.
Yes please react to the full album version? It’s almost 10 minutes long & worth every second 🖤
I saw Type 0 open for Pantera in 94. Got to meet Phil and Pete at that show, they even hit the joint i was smoking at the time =)
48 seconds in and she shivers to Peter's voice. Damn I miss Type o. Most underrated band ever. In my
heart you are number one! And October Rust is a masterpiece of music that hold up to time!
Lol. I had to go back at 48 sec. Her reaction was great.
I saw that too and laughed bc, same, girl, same 😆
I like when he went on Jerry Springer show and Jerry said ' hi Peter...you've spoken openly about your depression, are you depressed now?....and Peter Said
' I'm enjoying being on your show so I'm slightly less miserable at the moment....
I love finding the old Peter Steel interviews. Always funny as fuck. The Howard Stern interview was classic!
Nettie is an incredible Type O song where Peter reaches incredible lows. Such an incredible voice that will never be matched by anyone. Ever.
That entire album was perfect. I was living in a homeless shelter and I borrowed that CD from a public library. I still have it.
Got me through the worst time of my life.
Anesthesia still makes me cry
I reached this video by searching vocal coach reacting to nettie
My personal fave!!
Denis Pauna comes damn close!
@@NordicRick Yasss! When I found Denis Pauna I was so stoked. I mean, he doesn't have Peter's flare, but that voice, is pretty damn spot on... 👌

YESSSS LOL
"Legend says that when Peter sang, panties fell by themselves."
Not legend.
Women knew to just not wear panties around him, it was pointless!
That statement got soo many replies....yezzur...
This is true 👍
Yeah....I miss Pete....he reminds me alot of an old friend of mine that I haven't seen in a while...we used to play music and such....and yes...this friend of mine had a super deep voice...sounded almost identical to either Peter Steele or even David Vincent..talented left handed half Amish musician....ha....and covered in fur....oh the fur....dear God!!
She basically nailed it right at the start with "metal's Barry White."
R.I.P Peter.
Barry Black
I wonder how Peter would have reacted.
@@djung9064 Knowing his humor, he would have said 'Scary White.'
You have a beautiful appreciation for all types of music

Brilliant mate
If Peter was still alive he'd tell ya he was the worst singer on earth and Josh would agree with him and Kenny would say they need to stop making music
They were a very funny sarcastic bunch of guys
This is actually my favorite song from type o negative
The fact you have 69 votes is perfect. Sorry, but I'm not give you the 70th upvote, it's perfect as is. XD
Cinnamon girl for me.
Brooklyn stand up...amazing fucking band!!!
Perfection
Exactly... He also used to throw up before every show, no matter how big or small..
We shared a group of friends. Pete was funny.. Josh was an asshole and Kenny's ego was out of control... The real comedic force was Schlitzy...he always managed to get the worst out of people....
Oh my my... Peter was one of the kindest souls I've ever met. During my days in the metal scene in Dallas, TX I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Peter on several occasions and he was a huge beast with a heart as big as he was. He's been gone for nearly a decade now.... way too early.
Thanks for the review.... made me shed a tear. RIP PETER (I know you are) 😀
Ahh I had a tear as well you lucky bastard!! Cheers
I think Peter was legitimately the nicest dude in metal. He had a messed up sense of humor, but he always seemed like a giant puppy dog in interviews.
I don't know if I'm overstepping my bounds by using another link to comment on someone's Channel but I made this I don't know if I'm overstepping my bounds by using another link to comment on someone's channel but I made this video for Peter after I got no he died and it has a couple of the greatest quotes I've ever heard him say so I think it fits

Once you met or saw the guy, it will affect you for life...A rare and remarkable human angel...
Peter is probably one of the only few humans that ever existed who understood women perfectly. He was a gift to us. I wish I could have been the recipient of his love
Same lol
doubtful. he had an idealistic view of women which is not surprising given his catholic family upbringing (it's typical of all Abrahamic cultures) and idealistic standards for romance. this was a gift in the sense that helped him sing conveying so much emotion and write amazing music. but it doesn't seem to help anyone with the reality of daily life. in fact for the little we know his sentimental life was a train wreck: a quick, failed marriage when young, an attempted suicide "because he fell in love with the wrong person", an entire record composed as a fantasy murderous revenge against his ex gf who cheated on him (perfect proof of the madonna-wh**e complex), jailed for assault beating almost to death a second guy another gf had kept secret from him for years, and in the end he died never having found a life partner. instead it seems like he had a lot of casual s3x with random groupies throwing themselves at him and when it came to relationships he gave his heart and soul quickly and recklessly to terrible women who treated him like crap. if he actually had a true understanding of women, his choices in partners would have been wiser. but then we wouldn't have had so much amazing music, just another regular, content guy with no need to let out the demons tormenting him.
@@Johnny_Savage You must be fun at parties
@@Johnny_Savage I'd love to hear you say all that to his face. Too bad he's not alive for you to do so.
@@MitchJohnson0110 Where is the lie? I’d be thrilled to go to a party where people were discussing Peter Steele and Type-O.
Thank you for sharing your experience and pilgrimage with us.
I will still listen to them as long as I am alive.
Thank you and bless you!

makes me so happy you didn't shit all over this and your reactions are exactly what I expect to see from someone who connects to music when they feel it. pure bliss and magic. this man has saved many lives, mine included. hope you can break down another one of your songs because I thoroughly enjoy your honesty, beauty and word play. very relaxing. thank you.
Black No.1 the long version or Christian Woman.
Does she trick or treat? I bet she does.
Wolf Moon!!
Long versions of both!
I really dig their cover of Summer Breeze too
Wolf moon!
Im so glad you decided to do Type O!! Love them so much!!
RVA!! You should check out their song "September Sun". Really tells a great story. "Stay Outta My Dreams" does too.
There will never be a voice like Pete Steele ever again.... still miss him so much.
Tom Sibren no one compares to him.
I think David Gold of Woods of Ypres compares. But he’s also dead!
Check out Mar Stacey's covers wolf moon and love you to death
My Dying Bride is nice, definitely not quite the same but there is some great lows in their music also.
I first heard Type O when i was 13, I've loved them every day since. I miss Peter every day.
"Metal's Barry White"
Very aptly put actually. You definitely should react to more Type O Negative. Peter Steele is a fantastic singer.
I never heard he was a DnD nerd, but makes so much sense an makes me love him all the more.

I can relate. Been a fan for decades and I still lose my cool when I hear this song.
Isn't that everyone's reaction to Pete steele?
Same I do everytime I listen to Type O 😆
So I'm married and have 2 wonderful kids. I've never had any homosexual inclinations but Peter's voice is the sexiest voice I've ever heard, man or woman.
If you thought anyone would think you’re gay...you’re not man...I feel the same 🤣🤣 Peter could make anyone’s underwear come off with his voice.
You aren't lying. It goes through your body.
I had a female friend and we used to have a little game "who would you go gay for". Mine were Peter Steele and Christopher Meloni.
Kinda sus NGL.
Fair enough, he's a man's man, should be voted sexiest man instead of Justin Timberlake and other sissies...
"You wanted me to see that and I thank you". There's a lot of pandering on UA-cam but I detect a truely sincere woman.
10 years to the day we lost this Gentle Giant, RIP Peter, we miss you.

There will never be a voice like Peter Steel ever.
No vocal effect, the guy had the most amazing vocal range ever. The lows in Nettie are among the lowest ever registered.
'Wolf Moon' is the greatest song Peter Steele ever wrote.
Couldn't agree more
One of my favorites
songs about period are great
I think Anesthesia, Prelude to Agony and Creepy Green Light are a little better, but it s so hard to choose
September Sun is my go to
If you like this you should hear their version of Summer Breeze. He really stretches those low notes.
Yes this song is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Better than the original
Yes all day!
We're paid the same either way."
He was hilarious, genuine, and extremely talented.
Had a bad day at work, thanks for that laugh.

Who didn't cry at his death...
He actually passed away due to sepsis caused by diverticulitis. His family only recently revealed his true cause of death.
@@GabrielleCheri Oh! Really? Where did you find that info? Damn... that's even more of a shame than if it had been his heart... you can treat diverticulitis and live with it for quite a while... :/
Carol Prado Yes, truly a shame. Peter’s family runs an official Facebook page called “The Real Peter Steele Ratajczyk Page” where they post random tidbits about Peter and old photos never before seen like childhood etc.
. This was my wedding song. Your so awesome! I love how you appreciate all music and not just the mainstream.
Congrats man! Nice choice!!
What a dope. I bet your parents immediately disowned you.

It's amazing how you have the ability to take a song I love and make me love it even more. By pointing out details I never realized were there, I'm able to enjoy my favorite music even more than I already did. I'd love to see your reaction to Devil Doll
Exactly my point! Nothing better than we can learn more about the tecnicals details of our fav songs.
Nettie or Anesthesia are his best vocal performances. See either those or Christian Woman
I have to agree 💚💚
Anesthesia is something else. So amazing
Christian Woman as well
Christian Woman? Are you TRYING to get her pregnant? lol

I saw them a bit before he passed...I NEVER DRINK...that day Jaeger and beer by the pool all day. I remember the show was epic...that's about it!!! Little did I know it would be my 1 and only time seeing one of our favorite bands!!!
I’m grateful to have seen them. I didn’t go to see them, I went to see Hatebreed. Type O blew Hatebreed away that night.
I got to see them twice. The first time I went with a friend just for kicks... had only the vaguest of ideas who they were. The audience started chanting “You Suck!” at them and I turned to my friend and genuinely asked why everyone was being so mean. I got to see them once more, during their final tour. By that time I had heard all their albums & I was in love. I chanted “You Suck!” along with everyone else.
Sign me in for that one 😢
This song gives me chills and also makes me terribly sad.

I had a huge crush on him when he released that album. He was and still is one of the most interesting and best singers ive ever seen.
His music is unique and different in every album.
And also a very smart man.
Listen to Nettie. The intro is so deep. It’s a song about his mom.
That is a great song from a great album, Electrocute and Anesthesia give me chills

I was lucky enough to see them only one time. In New Orleans on Halloween night sometime in the late nineties. I liked the band but was pretty well unprepared for the incredible live show.
