I like using radar because I don't trust my eyeballs and I don't like missing out any chests.
I've sent the radar up in a drone a few times. I like it when it's poppin off all the time. It speeds up the runs a lot
also great in co-op because your friends will take the obvious chests
Honestly same as me. I'm kinda literally autistic and don't trust myself to actually see the chests with my eyeballs.
I use it too cause I have a hard time finding the portal in like 90% of the runs
FMP is interesting because it is either completely useless or game breaking, but it's almost never worth holding onto unless you already have something good with it.

if you have a single dagger or a single will o wisp its very good. Gasoline is an added bonus too + any healing/shielding you may get from it.

At least the consumed Tricorn doesn't set high standards. It says it's useless and looks cool, and it is. It perfectly delivers on what it says it will do.
It actually does more that it says. It can say "ahoy!" Especially fun if you give it to the equipement drone

The elite aspects would be so much better if every one of them had a unique ability that could be used like normal equipment while still providing the passive. If they’re going to be super hard to get at least make it worth the slot.
For me I just use a mod that turns them into non-equipment items.

@@breadaholic6445 You can either configure them to be red or yellow items that can stack or keep them as equipment. They're all completely broken by the way, pretty much every one is a game changer.
Or, alteranivly, aspects can stay as is, but be a common drop from elites. I mean, players would use it just because it looks really fancy! Why you locking cool alt. skins behind 1 in a million chance?
I love giving the backup drone to the equipment drone. It spawns them fast enough that you have almost a 100% up time with the 4 drones.

When I first played the DLC with my brother, I figured out that the Consumed Tricorn actually does something. If you use it, it causes you to chat, "Ahoy!" instantly, and it has a 60 second cooldown. I would use it every time it came off cooldown until I found a new equipment and it drove my brother insane.
Originally the tricorn had a 5 second cooldown and it was too powerful with the bottled chaos so we had to nerf it.
We did make sure that the equipment drone can use it to send messages though.

the other day i was playing and had used it on stage 5 and when i picked up a new equipment i just gave the broken tricorn to an equipment drone. it just kept saying “ahoy” and i thought it was the funniest shit ever
Radar scanner is actually one of my favorites 😅 I like using it to judge roughly what proportion of the stage's loot I've taken and going to the teleporter at the most appropriate moment
With a lil practice in stage looting and getting rid of greeding- where you just want more items because more items- natural looting becomes way better and the radar just kinda becomes eh

@@ryanbui2046 It's best used if you have spare drone parts, since finding drones is way harder than finding chests.
I totally forgot that the radar has very few icons on vanilla. For me is a really decent equipment, since I have the mod that adds severall icons, wich as you said makes radar very useful, specially if I give it to an equipment drone. Really helps planning out the route to loot the stage and helps find everything without wasting much time looking around.
Also, super massive leech looks so gross now that I saw it up close... ew.

i full loot every stage and have the mini-map mod. whenever i play with my friends we just have house rules that we cant use it until we're pretty sure we've already gotten everything on the map

The reason why I love radar scanner is because when I'm doing sacrifice runs (with or without command yeah I know I'm a filthy casual) it makes finding all the items so much easier, especially in the void fields so I don't waste as much time looting.
I’d argue healing can be a good use of an equipment slot early into a run. The biggest challenge in Risk of Rain is getting a run started, and when you don’t get many healing items in the first couple stages you’re really gonna be struggling. A foreign fruit or supermassive leech can really help mitigate that issue. Yeah a woodsprite might be better, but more healing equipments in the loot table = higher likelihood of getting one of them.
Personally, it would probably be better to use mobility equipment like volcano egg or milky chrysalis to get to safety. Healing don’t matter if you don’t get hit, and there are tons of non-equipment healing items like monster tooth or even healing flasks which are fairly common
Radar scanner is my favorite equipment.
I have completionist tendencies, tend to do looping runs instead of mythrix, and struggle to get to the next stage before difficulty increases because of fear of missing out.
Having radar scanner to reassure me and help with cleanup has been amazing, even with the icon confusion. Though, I just learned there’s a mod to fix that.
It helps even more in multiplayer since you can split up for cleanup.
Grab a couple fuel cells and you’ll never not know where to go.
If you grab a handful of crabs from the newt shop, you can have 100% uptime on the radar with 4-5 of them, meaning I can full clear every stage at a reasonable pace.
A lot of these sit in my favorite builds. I loved my multiplayer Molotov artificer run where I just got as many ignition tanks as possible (but to be fair they were running artifact of command) and similarly the game where I stacked over a dozen drone parts and called in an entire fleet of drones via fuel cell. I understand that they realistically aren’t good in average play, but they are so fun when done right.
There is a modd that adds different icons to radar scanner which definitely makes it more helpful, I was surprised at first it was number 1 till he explained that lol
I like glowing meteorite for one thing and that's faster summoning for the alloy worship unit as it targets the eggs makes my job easier than running around looking for them cause I'm lazy.

The Backup also works quite well with Empathy Cores, not that they really need the help. I don't know if Fuel Cells effect Equipment drones, but I found that when I gave The Backup to one it had 100% uptime with the drones.
When I first started playing radar scanner was a god send because I didn’t know maps, where to find items, where the tp was and when going for challenges like unlocking enj drone challenge it was vary helpful. Now that I’ve play for some time I know this stuff and it not as helpful now. If you find it on a stage and you find a equipment drone it worth throwing it on it but now I just will look for something else.
Wonder how the balance would shake out if the scanner let you peek inside unopened chests.
I love slapping radar scanner on equipment drones just to save a bit of time looting. It makes grinding for environment logs much easier, but that's about it.
A great tier list honestly, tend to agree with most of the choices, just tough for some since they have HIGH potential under certain circumstances.
just based off the thumbnail, id say backup should be slightly less on list purly from droneman and cap passive
then again the fucking cooldown being like 110 and the active at like 15s
I personally love using Gorag's, specially on Huntress, I think it's super fun even if it's not that great

I really like the drones simply for distracting enemies. Really makes teleporter events and mithrix phase 2 easier

I actually dig the radio scanner for the first loop. It makes looting so much faster and saves time!
Radio scanner can ping newts and the pressure plates in abandoned aqueducts so it can be good if you don’t know the spawn spots
FMP is definitely my favorite equipment of the bunch, but yeah, sadly it's rare to pay off in short runs. However, in multiplayer, where items are far more plentiful and you can coordinate with friends, it definitely jumps up a ton. Any time I find FMP I immediately call dibs on Ceremonial Daggers and Soulbound Catalyst lol.
Also, Glowing Meteorite is so good on Artificer, since you're almost never on the ground, i.e. in blast range. Take it with a ton of Fuel Cells and use them all at once for a fun time lol
on the topic of elite aspects, the blazing aspect is incredibly enjoyable on Engi especially with ignition tank

i really like using radar scanner when one of my friends in multiplayer is willing to become the map and waste an equipment slot for it, it's just nice to know where you're going since i only have like 50 hours in the game
i think the most realistic use case for forgive me please is like, finding it on stage 5, you have a lot of on kill items that are about to be useless in stage 6 and you cant find a better equipment or a scrapper for the on kills

Interesting thing I've discovered about the overloading aspect.
If you give it to mul-t with tool switch, and you take damage, you can switch to the tool that has the aspect and you regain all of your health instantly

I'm kind of amazed you put Goobo Jr. Higher than fmp. Goobo is funny but other than a few select survivors like Captain, Bandit, Acrid and Artificer Goobo Jr in your equipment slot does as much good as Goobo Jr on an Equipment Drone.
The only good use for radar was when I started the game, and I couldn't find any teleporters as I didn't know the map. I'd say it gets less useful as you get better at the game

i always give backups and gorag to equipment drones. get one of each for a burst of free distraction objects whenever the action heats up.
all it takes is one gorag drone and the rest can all get backups
I don't like scanner in my equipment slot but I love it on a drone since you basically always know where everything is
Only time mending aspect was useful for me was when I was helping teach my friends the game and we managed to randomly get it. It helped keep my friends alive while teaching them.
As for Aspects, thats why i use the ZetsAspects mod. It makes them yellows instead of equipment. My friends love it when someone picks up the mending.
Radar scanner back on the version of the game where the teleported didn’t have the red particle effect. I spent 30+ minutes looking for the teleporter on wetland aspect back in the day
I mostly agree with the scanner, except I found out you NEED it on switch to unlock bands. I know, switch ew, but it's what I have lol the issue is on aqueduct I thought I was just dumb and couldn't find the buttons. A random radar on an equipment drone (just to not waste an extra equipment and drone) showed me that I was only finding 1 button because the 2nd often spawned under the ground. So the only way I found it was noticing the button I did find showed up on radar as a "?" so I followed the other ? to find it. It led me beside a rock to a spot under the sand. So I had to do it all over again with engineer so that I could put the turret through the terrain.
What's really fun is getting glowing meteor on retool mul-t with a gesture of the drowned and a few feul cells then swapping to it when all the charges come off cooldown
Even better in multiplayer bc ten popping at once makes all your friends panic

Ocular Hud is so good on Railgunner
The foreign fruit is useful on Humtress early game when she is super squishy, I usually swap it out for something else down the line.

The intros just keep getting better
I like Jade Elephant when used alongside Safer Spaces or Opal. When one shield goes down, the next shield comes up! And then by the time the Elephant is over, you're only a few seconds away from the first shield coming back online. And when you have ALL THREE, you become QUITE hard to kill.
One of my favurite things to do when I co-op is grab a meteorite and a couple fuel cells to every now and then make the game very difficult. Bonus points if I stack gesture of the drowned.

As a new player I really like the radar bc it shows me parts of the map that I didn't know about, I didn't even know about the artifact portal till I had the scanner

ScannerPlusOne and PingProvements are two great QOL mods that improve the radar scanner and the ping system in general. wolfosQualityOfLife is even better, but its not a client side mod which can be an issue. it adds unqiue icons to all the pings, as well as helpful buff icons, faster printers, visual and gameplay fixes, and a bunch of little tweaks. though personally i just turn most the gameplay changes off lol
Insanely massive fan of you using Rozen's clock town in the background. Took up until the bells kicked in to realize it, but youve got a pretty good taste in music
The ocular hud is good with rail gunner because it can stack with lenses and still be good
Somehow I keep finding invisible chests with the radar scanner. Anyhoo, they're nice to use when you find one or after the teleporter boss, then switching back to your previous equipment.
Glowing meteorite is a must have when playing with friends. Always pick Artificer and get some gestures as well, everything will die and your friends included.
I totally thought I'd see dragon egg or chrysalis, yeah its flight and all but one is super unwiedly and the other doesnt even help that much
Railgunner with the ocular hud is bassically a one time one shot towards a eneny of your liking
was playing in co op with 3 of my friends who had just got the game and I got a mending aspect super early on and it was a god send for them as i could heal them by just staying alive which allowed me to have almost no items and let them have all the fun while i played healer
I love the aspects so much, not for the abilities, but for how they make you look
Same. I wish there was any reliable way to get them. And I wish they were fleshed out. The idea behind them is so cool.

Radar scanner is actually the best item, being able to quickly find EVERY chest including invisible ones and rusty ones quickly and then switching to a tricorn for the fight or disposable launcher

Give a glowing meteorite to an equipment drone to griefmaxx in multipllayer games. The cooldown is cut to 1/5 (28s) and will be active for 20s. Permanent dark screen added bonus.
I enjoy radar a lot. If I’m ever using command artifact, it’s always the first equipment I pick to get more items to spiral out of control even faster
Radar scanner is best for new people. When I thought I cleared a map and I got scanner for the first time, I realized just how much I missed

The radar scanner is the absolute best equipment no contest when you have an elite aspect, member's card, or gnarled woodsprite. Why? Because you can pick it up, use it, then swap back to your useful equipment for free information.
Also it's decent on an equipment drone if you have col. droneman I guess.
cant believe consumed tricorn is in this list, the ahoy counteracts any other possible attempt at dying in the game

Jade elephant is actually pretty good if you also play enter the gungeon a lot :D (for context enter the gungeon has a mechanic where you can delete all bullets on screen so you gotta know before hand that youll take damage)
i like the radar because i go full smoothbrain when i play this game and i will walk by a chest 6 times and then only find it when i use radar for it.

My group call Radar Scanner "Slow Mode" because now everyone needs to go check all the chest icons and it just wastes a ton of time.
Just here to mention Super Massive Leech/ N'kuhana / Aegis / Transcendence works.
Doesn't make leech better but it's a fun build to try.
I agree that if Radar Scanner had a shorter cooldown and or was clearer in what it marked, it'd be better. It is something I would just stuff onto an Equipment drone first chance I get since I am a blind ass mf who has trouble even locating the teleporter sometimes.

See me personally, radar scanner is my #5 best behind 1.Recycler, 2.Credit Card, 3.Missile Launcher, and 4.Gorag's. Yeah it's use is niche, but especially on multiplayer, it helps getting through stages faster, and let's us find scrappers right away

just had a fmp run in eclipse, really good
fmp+drowned+some fuel cells+brooch/any on kill item=insta win.
The backup also has good synergy with empathy cores as well, not quite as much as droneman but hey
I like Jade elephant for my play throughs because if you combine it with a drowned and a couple a fuel cells you will permanently have 85% damage reduction
Fuel Array procs on Engineer's turrets, when they go ≤50% HP - and they can also kill you *and* teammates without enabling friendly fire through Artifact of Chaos.
Back up is great when you have 3 fuel cells. Call 16 friends at once.
It's crazy to see fmp so low on the list considering it straight up one shot mithrix my last run.
Lol radar scanner is by far My favorite item in risk of rain 2. So many items that are just hidden that I can't afford to spend time finding.
