Looking for a used Kia Stinger? - carsforsale.com.au/kia/stinger
When the Kia Stinger launched in 2017, it was one of the most highly-anticipated cars in recent times. A bona-fide Korean muscle car, it struck a rare balance between performance, practicality and price.
It was a lot of car for the money, but now that they're used and some have thousands of kilometres on the clock, are used Kia Stingers still worth a look? Check out the video to find out.

At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.

I came across this video when I was thinking about getting a Stinger GT. I wouldn't say this sealed the deal but it certainly helped to know that they aren't plagued with mechanical and auto-electrical gremlins. I bought a 2023 Stinger GT last month and have been stoked with it every day since. So for your part in my financial irresponsibility, thank you.

It is great to see someone reviewing used cars so comprehensively for the majority of us who rarely, if ever, buy a brand new car.
Love the approach, humour and consumable nature of the Redriven reviews. After starting with this one I, not only have moved a Stinger to the top of my wanted list, but spent much of the weekend watching others on the channel.

Had the pleasure of owning a used Kia Stinger GT a few years back and it is probably my favorite car yet. They look good inside and out, pack a punch, and have a lot of tuning potential. I drive a 4-Series BMW now and would not hesitate to go back to a Stinger if I could. BMW can't compete with a Kia Stinger. Kia offers a better warranty and the Stinger GT is a better deal.

Proud owner of a KIA Stinger GT, so called top model of KIA (please go to last sentence if you want the short version). I have owned may new cars in my life and had never had so many issues with any of them but when I had issues I was serviced properly and got a courtesy car for the time of not having a brand new car. I understand that 3 year I would not class as brand new but anything between 1 and 2 year and less than 50,000 km I would. 7 year warranty is only as good as the service they provide and what does it help if I cannot drive my car because it is in repair because of manufacturing faults. A few things I came across from brand new, paint chips like glass. The smallest stone will leave a damage (compared to my previous car which I had for more than 4 years), in 2 month I had more stone chips than in 4 years with my Mazda 3 SPS25. Nothing changed in the way I use the car or where I drive it.

Dude. i own a stinger too and they're good cars but if you think they handle great, you're either full of shit or have no idea what good handling is. it handles like total crap. the shifting sucks big time and is clunky as hell, literally no sound without mods, curves are not your friend either. to me it doesn' t matter because i bought it because i wanted something cheap that looks cool, has some speed, 4wd, has room and all amenities and i delivers a lot on these fronts. but don't ever compare it to something like an M car or even a 350.

    Nice work, great review!
I had one of the first in the country (Sep 2017) for just over 4 years, awesome car - upsized due to 3 teenagers now and wanting to do road-trips etc. I certainly didn't get the kind of $ number you were suggesting for resale
In terms of issues, yeah I had the rear boot issue, easily resolved.
Good tip re: forums info - I had diff noise early on (sharp turning when cold from driveway) and from the forum I sourced a Tech Service Bulletin that I used to (hello! wake up!!) get the local dealer to learn about and resolve. Diff oil change reqd, different viscosity. Reqd a lot of effort to make it happen (early adopters, you can thank me later!) I suspect the diff failures mentioned would 100% be related to this.
Finally, the brake shudder issue referred to ... I don't think this issue actually comes out of 'spirited driving' - I never took my car to a track (previous vehicles yes, so I 100% understand the comment) and my car never experienced any serious downhill twisties etc. So I do think there's a brake issue with the set up. It came and went with relatively gentle driving.

I am going to make it simple for you all. I am a Stinger GT owner i actually lost my 6mnth old 1st 1 in the recent floods here in Queensland. I didn't hesitate and re-ordered another 1 brand new as mine was written off. I have worked for a mechanic for nearly 2 decades now and i can tell you for a fact that Kia is 1 of the best vehicles on the road now. The best are Camry, Hyundi I30 and the Kia's. As hyundi own's Kia is not surprising that quality of both now is thru the roof. The Korean car makers are hitting their stride like the Japanese makers did in the early 90's. I have had service from Kia that is second to none, was a easy decision to make as 1 of our 28 year vet mechanic bought the 2019 Stinger. No better car add then a mechanic personally buying 1 for himself convinced me and i could not be happier. My new gets car here in 4 weeks i cannot wait, i did wait for the 2021 model initially because of the changes compaired to the 2019 model not the same car. I recommend to anyone if you are going to do it get the Twin Turbo save ur pennies. I went for thee top of the range full GT TT but a GT line is just as good as you have all that matters up front. The GT tho is a deferent experience has everything u could want in any up market euro pos. Now for those with a bit more cash, then the G70 is for you Kia has a luxury range now like lexus is for toyota and the G70 is the Stinger on steroids. It has a slightly bigger 6 3.5ltr with the twin turbo's. It will blow any top range merc or beemer off the road with its quality and power and is 1/2 the price. I priced up the new BMW Grand Coupe which released at the same price as the Stinger to match the Stinger performance wise the crap i had to add to that beemer doubled the price. IMO all those cars you are buying a badge and nothing more they are shit vehicles.

I can confirm that BMW (and Benz) are not what they are marketed as. I've actually been to the factory that does some of their critical parts, and after talking to the tech person in there, I now understand why the Germans call BMW Bayrischer Mist Wagen: "Bavarian Manure car". Unfortunately, people buy into the marketing, where BMW and Benz spends oodles of money. Granted they ride nice and some look nice, especially the interior. But luxury should mean not having to break down and not being able to drive your car.
As for the Hyundai group, they're trying. They just need to get past the engine fires for some of their models.

A friend of mine, who manages a KIA dealership in Texas, recently bought a bright orange used Stinger. Although we both laughed at that being his mid-life-crisis car, he absolutely loves it. The Stingers apparently don't have a lot of the mechanical and quality problems that plague so many KIA sold in the states. Having driven it myself, I can attest it's a really fun car to drive. As a 60 year old man, my chief complaint would be it's a bit on the cramped side, but then again, the Stinger is a true sports sedan, not a family sedan.

  • @1scubas2
    @1scubas2 2 роки тому +7

I don’t know how it is in Australia but my only argument against buying a Stinger are the dealerships…they are completely unacceptable. Last month I traded my 2021 stinger GT1 with 30,000 miles for 2018 Porsche Panamera with 36,000 miles. The Porsche was twice the money so I expected it to be twice as good, and it’s not even close to being that. The sound system is better in the stinger(I have the Bose in the Porsche)and it actually seems to have held up a little better after 30,000 miles. The dealership experience however makes the Porsche almost worth the money by itself. I used to go to a Kia dealership and I swear the employees were actively trying to avoid me. Needless to say Porsche dealers make you feel like a king.

I’ve had my stinger GT for 2 years now. I bought it used for about $30k USD before things went crazy. I’ve quadrupled the miles and it’s still selling for 25% more than I bought it for. I’ve had no issues and minimal complaints. Many of which were addressed in this video and even taught me how to fix them! Thank you! 100% true that those who bought new were older. I’m hard pressed to find others as young as me with the car. I’m confident recommending a used one to anyone who is interested. Thankfully he booted it when we took off, I kept up quite easily (in my a45s), i didn't want to tailgate so i had to ease to keep a little distance, but fair to say looked like the stinger gt went really well, love the looks too. bit like a jag in the rear and if squinting at the front looks almost like a beemer.

Had my GT Stinger for 4 and a half years. Done 83,000kms. Had it tuned. 274kw at the wheels and 880nm of torque. My god it's fast now 😎
It's still as reliable as the day I bought it.
    Luv this car 😍

That’s so sick for something that can be such a sleeper car as they aren’t normally loud! Bro 880nm is massive, I have a 2016 HSV GTS with 560kw and it has 1100nm with a harrop package.
Respect to the Stinger man, I tip my hat for sure!

Full of shit, the kw rating is real but 880nm your off your tree.

Great review after owning a couple of Range Rovers I bought my wife a stinger, she loves it so do I
In sports mode it is a rocket and handling is very good for a RWD car it goes where you point it
    Great job KIA 👍

never BUY Used KIA. they don't honor warranty for used owners.

If you've bought Range Rovers before you obviously have no idea so a Korean shitbox will suit you.

@@Optimiser113 this is true, range rovers are obviously known to be driven by poor people so of course a kia would suit them. Broke ass celebrities and business owners drive range rovers. So stupid to think a range rover is some kind of a standard for luxury.

Great work AK. Please can you guys do an M140i F20 LC-2 as a bit of a comparo? Fun factor and driving dynamics specific to the placement of its engine...and maybe a Jaguar XE S? Love this channel mate
