The Stinger has fairly reasonable boot space inside: I'm 6ft 3 (193cm) and have gone camping in mine. With rear seats down, the front seat tilted forward and my luggage pushed over to the passenger side, there was enough length for me to stretch out fully in my sleeping bag on my self-inflating mattress. I could even point my tippy-toes down and only just touched the tailgate area. I found that impressive.
This is good information, one thing I always want to know when buying a car is can I sleep in the back of it. I like to go camping with friends on occasion, but I can't be bothered with a tent any more since I'm getting older. Sleeping in the car is warmer, drier and quieter!

Plus, it’s different, it’s cool, something to share with people who stop to ask about it. Definitely looks much better in real life. First one I saw was the nardo grey version cruising with the winter Arizona sunset bouncing off the paint. It sat so wide and low, couldn't take my eyes off it!
The older model looked far better. The new one looks weird in comparison. Same with the wheels. The new design are terrible. You can tell this is the last model before discontinuation as they have lost interest in it. It didn't even get the digital dash like the G70. The G70 outsold it 3-1 as well.
It's so weird to me that the UK got all the styling and kit updates--except the new KIA logo, which looks more modern and upscale, particularly fitting this car.

Not only does it do everything very well, it also has some of that M magic that you feel when driving it. Not only that, you get arguably the best all round engine too in the B58. Imo it’s one of the best cars BMW have released in recent times, and looks amazing as well
That's your opinion and I do respect it, but I also find myself really liking the stinger, and I would argue in terms of bang for buck, I would go with the stinger, purely because, well, it's cheaper, and I really like it
The m340i / 440i are definitely better, BUT, also 25k more expensive if you spec them at the Stinger standard level. So, it's just a question of budget in the end. If you want to spend 50k you either get this one or a 330i. Or, maybe you don't care about sunroof, ventilated seats, adaptive cruise, sound system etc and could get a base 340i.

My 2017 Stinger was the best car I've ever owned. A fantastic GT that you could eat miles up, then switch to Sport mode once there and have a tail wagging RWD experience.
I had a Jag 3.0 V6 before the Stinger.... The Jaq wasn't anywhere near as comfortable on daily drives. The M5 my mate has that I've driven had the same issue. Great car on a race track, but on UK roads the comfort of the Stinger wins. Like I said it was a great car.

Because this car won't sell here. Nobody would pay 80 lakhs (after all import duties and stuffs) for a kia sedan when you can get a Merc or BMW for that price. Plus this car doesn't even sell well in Europe or US because it costs the same as bmw and Mercedes while not offering the same performance, driving capabilities, quality, technology and many more things.
Actually the market for these sporty 4-door coupes is pretty small, and the 3.3L engine doesn't make sense tax-wise for many European countries. It's too small/not big enough to justify the running costs. It should've been a 3.0. That's its main problem. And if it was made for enthusiasts, it should've had the option to choose a manual.
I guess it is depends where you are located. In US seems they getting the logo already, but for example in Australia I still see people posting pictures on forums after they picked up brand new car still with old ones :(
I just ended up financing my white '21 Stinger GT1 as my lease was about to end in another month or so. I'm just absolutely in love with the car and as i'm just hitting 8500 miles, there's a ton of potential still there. No maintenance costs aside from oil changes so far, but i also got the platinum warranty in case I decide to sell it later. I feel like with the cancellation of the Stinger and the inherent rarity of them to begin with , having one with such low mileage made more sense than trying to flip it or trade in for a new lease on a different car (which, yeah... there's really nothing that stands up as an alternative to the Stinger anymore in its price point and style/performance figures)

Manual mode sticks when you’re in sport mode, in the other modes it automatically switches back after 10 seconds or so, generally if you’re manually changing, you want to be in sport anyway.
Yeah, that's pretty much the case for most cars these days. Manual will only stick in sport mode. Matt made a lot of weird, kinda wrong observations in this review. The USB C criticism was also completely wrong.

@@garronah Err not sure that is true. My experience of cars with ZF 7 and 8 speed boxes (Audi allroad BiTdi, S4, Maserati Levante S) is that you can shove the gear lever to the left to lock in paddle shift only mode. @@ukgroucho So, like we're saying, you have to change modes to lock the paddle shifting. And moving the lever over to the left is just that. Leave it in the standard position, it will default back to Auto.

ICE cars are at the end of their life. So I don't see what's so impressive that they manage to do what other companies have done for over 100 years. It should be expected today, not suprising
Also, Kia has killed this car cause it didn't sell. So failure
@@mr.c3939 I think this is part of Kia's proving ground (for lack of a better word) to being a more premium brand. Their new EV6 looks impressive - but it is premium priced... they are trying to make their way into a different market - not the budget runaround but competing with Audi and BMW in the mid-range at least. I think they will do well if they maintain their long warranty proposition. Does not matter to a company car driver (and I did that for decades) but when you buy your own vehicles and have to cough up for extended warranties then having 7 (or 10 in the US) years warranty baked in is huge. I've been a brand snob for years ..

Very appealing car, but I still stand by my statement that the M340i is arguably the best all round car on sale today. Not only does it do everything very well, it also has some of that M magic that you feel when driving it. Not only that, you get arguably the best all round engine too in the B58. Imo it’s one of the best cars BMW have released in recent times, and looks amazing as well
That's your opinion and I do respect it, but I also find myself really liking the stinger, and I would argue in terms of bang for buck, I would go with the stinger, purely because, well, it's cheaper, and I really like it
M340i is so expensive in my country tho. Kia is like 35% cheaper
it looks like the same old3 series from 15 years ago
The m340i / 440i are definitely better, BUT, also 25k more expensive if you spec them at the Stinger standard level. So, it's just a question of budget in the end. If you want to spend 50k you either get this one or a 330i. Or, maybe you don't care about sunroof, ventilated seats, adaptive cruise, sound system etc and could get a base 340i.
In Australia,m340i is double the price but yes, if they were same price, I’d choose m340i

Because badge snobs down under wouldn't be caught dead in a KIA. The bogan chariots these days seem to be 4x4 utes anyway - Hilux/Ranger/Triton.
@@zaneiken07 Truer words have never been written about this very excellent observation. Even worse, the bogans are buying them for Mrs. bogan, with their jeans with the torn knees and the huge tattooed eyebrows, who use them for dropping off future bogans such as Taylah, Jai, et. al. to school etc. and never actually go off road.
William, that in itself is a conundrum. It is far better quality than some cheap Asian cars and offers so much for the price when compared to German vehicles that are equally specced. I love my Stinger and consider it the best value for money car I have ever owned and I have had some rippers
@@zaneiken07 True! I actually saw a Kia stinger a few months ago that had the badge removed, in addition to other modifications.
I have a Stinger and it’s a fantastic bit of kit, I’ve had Audis, BMWs, Mercs etc etc and can tell you honestly this car holds its head up high with them all. 👍👌
Same here, love my GTS.
Same here. Owned Lexus as well. Including Jaguar XJR. Stinger smashes the lot 😍
@hon solo who gives a flying fuck about 0-60 times? People like you care too much about sheet stats rather than real world application. Interior space, looks, standard options, warranty, budget, personal preference. A lot comes into play when choosing a car. Take into account that Kia wasn’t making performance cars and for what is essentially their first real attempt, it’s a great package. The Germans definitely are ahead on most aspects but that doesn’t take away that as a daily driver this is a great option. And some people simply don’t care about the badges. Also let’s not forget BMW underrate their horsepower numbers almost all the time. Wouldn’t surprise me if the m340i had more hp than advertised.
@hon solo like you will be racing in every traffict light. And beside tha cars you are comparing are atleast 15 thousand dollars more expensive
@hon solo no, people just buy German cars as they hold their value better
I really like this car. Liked the old model and like this model even more !
I’ve driven a lot of cars but my Stinger GT is my favorite. It is a sports car on the rare times you need it to be. All the rest of the time it is a great GT car waiting for a good straight or rolling hill twisties. I have fun every single time I drive it. Always take the long way home.
Cant wait for Carwow to review the KIA K5 GT🤩✨
K5 isn't available in the UK :(
Useless factoid: The stinger used to have it's suspension set up by the Holden racing team (an Australian factory racing team).
About 30 episodes later, Mat is still talking about his new Samsung Galaxy fold phone 😆
Carwow your one stop car buying comparison site❤️
The orange one in awesome in person!
Still slower than S4 and M340i, but a great car overall and fun to drive, which is the most important thing alongside 7 year warranty
still slower but its also like $20-30k AUD cheaper lol
@@kds8709 Not $20K cheaper than S4 or M240i which are faster
@@001barca it is, a clean USED example of an s4 is going for around mid 60s while a clean USED stinger is going for around 45k where i am. when comparing new to new, the s4 is 100k+ and the stinger is ~70k.
@@kds8709 well have no idea about Australia, the new prices aren't much different in the UK or N America
@@001barca that's really interesting, in that case most definitely the german rivals will likely be the better choice.
Comparing the Stinger's boot-space with Arteon Shooting Brake's was illogical sadly. Because, the Arteon sedan is a fastback just like this Stinger
if you watch the arteon test they mention that the SB's boot is basically the same size as the sedan
@@Nazhror brother that I do agree, as the Arteon fastback has 563 liters and the Shooting Brake has 565.
But my point is, whether they are same or not, comparing a fastback sedan with a wagon is not logical, that too when the wagon you’re comparing it with also has a fastback version.
Lastly, Mat said in this review that the Arteon Shooting Brake has 590L of boot capacity, but on the ASB's review, he said that it has 565L. One mistake there too 😕
@@shahjalalalamabir5393 He is not comparing fastback sedan with a wagon, he is comparing fastback sedan boot with a wagon boot, it's a different thing
@@rayhan4502 bro that's what I'm also saying. The difference advantage of a wagon over a sedan is its cargo space, so comparing their cargo spaces are just unfair
@@shahjalalalamabir5393 Thats the point tho..
it should be unfair, it should be different, but in fact it's similar and almost the same.
So it's a win for a sedan that could have same boot size with a wagon
Is it just me or the interior of the stinger looks like that of a Mercedes c-class
Nothing like it , they copied the circular vents but if you sit inside an AMG C class it is far superior. Though personally i prefer last year's model AMG to the newer ones with the even bigger screens. I just hate big entertainment screens though as they are pointless and distracting.
Design wise this car has my heart
Definitely not better but maybe a more unique purchase. I got my 2018 stinger Gt2 AWD for 36k with 300 miles back in January. Car currently goes for $39k with 10k miles.
How is the gas mileage on this car? Does putting it in eco mode make a significant difference?
Greetings from Sweden ;)
@hon solo you are a joke, everyone is laughing at you. You called me a bum so wheres the vid of your boat son? My outboards cost more than your house.
@hon solo Kia Stinger is a bigger car and better value for the money. Comes with all you need as standard meanwhile in a more expensive BMW you still need to buy the options. What comes to 0-60 times. I’m sure the germans have more power than they claim. That’s very typical of them. Ford Mustang though is also great value. However it’s a coupe so Kia is more practical.
@hon solo That’s a good point but it depends of the market. This market effect is what killed many premium cars from non-premium brands. Also the reason why premium brands like Jaguar and Alfa Romeo struggle in several markets. The resale value is poor no matter if the car is good.
@hon solo Seems reasonable. Here in Finland SUVs and anything with four wheel drive holds their value much better than elsewhere. Especially the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser. They sell for crazy amounts even after 15 years. Mercedes are highly sought after in the used markets. Japanese cars and Volvo too.
I have one 2020 GT limited AWD in 🇨🇦 and it's an amazing car. It's 20k$$ cheaper then it's Germans rivals, and it gives you the same preference, and it's more reliable.
My first car I bought from musk was through investment and real estate deals
The economy hardship, recession, unemployment and loos of job caused by covid pandemic is enough to push people into financial ventures
I have secured financial freedom by investing in bounds, equities, EFTS and some digital currencies
I wanted to invest more on digital currency (crypto) but the fluctuations in crypto value discouraged me into dumping
That's why you need the help of a professional who trade and understand the market more to earn good income. These professional understand the market like it's there own farm and makes maximum profit for investors.
Mrs Melissa is abviously the best broker. I invested $4,500 with her and she made me profit of $48,100 in two weeks and three days. It was mind blowing.
Matt's arms are looking great.
I dont need to vote on which 1 i would chose mate, mine is now 1 month old. I am in Australia i had to wait 9 months to get it, i have already put 2500kms on it. It is the best decision i ever made my 1st brand new sports car. Smile has not left my face since i picked it up. We didn't get the Seude interior here in Oz so i went for Silky Silver outside and the Red nappa leather inside. I don't know what is up with your mode setup. I have a custom mode and i have setup my own settings. I have the Engine in Sports with transmission decoupled in what Kia calls glide mode, suspension in comfort. Reason for that is it is way to hard and stiff for our road conditions with the suspension in sport mode. I then have the Steering in sport as well because you alter that too in Sport mode. For when i have the wife in the car or i am commuting to work i just have it set to the default comfort mode. In sport mode you cannot change anything like decoupleing the transmission that is full trac mode basically. It is the reason i setup the custom mode because its just too hairy for fun driving in full sports mode. If you are dragging or racing of course you will use default sport mode is what its for. I watched the Video again mate and i saw when you went to change mode you had Sport+, that is where my Custom mode is in my car, mine dont have a Sport+ mode. Why would Kia do that????????
