I agreed at first, but Will wore a bracelet exactly like the one he made here as far back as December of 2017 (source: Instagram). Alec used new skills in a new way, Will just repeated a past project.
TL:DR; IMO, Alec won for on-the-spot creativity.
Will was definitely the winner. I think what was evident from this video is that Will is better at working "outside the box". Alec lost a lot of time trying to do things the way he usually does rather than improvising. As a result, Will was able to create something more aesthetically pleasing. This doesn't mean that Will is a better blacksmith. It just means he's better at working by the seat of his pants whereas Alec is more cerebral in his approach to design.

Alec probs prefers the simple and chill design whereas will probs likes to improv a design to make it interesting. They both look nice but I prefer Alec’s bracelet just because of the shape and twist of it

@@Andrew-dm8mk no. Acids on the skin will form copperacetate, which is green and colors your skin.
It will help the arthritis! Big fan of copper for soothing arthritis
You could coat the copper in some sort of it epoxy, polyurethane or clear coat paint to keep it from tarnishing I have a keychain with copper on it and I dipped it in polyurethane so the copper stays shiny
Read clear nail polish works wonders

For me it's Alec too, because there was much more forging involved, and the end result does not look like a high school project but like a jewel... And Alec changed the entire shape, worked with half the material, making it far more elegant. Put in a different stone, and it could be for a man too...

They're both great bracelets ! Alec's speed Stone setting was awesome if only he put some twists in the copper it really would've upped the overall look . I love Copper !

I doubt Alec will see this but I want to say thank you for all the info and work you do. I contacted my local blacksmith group and am hoping to attend the next meeting and begin the process of absorbing as much information I can from those skilled in the trade. Alec was the one who got me interested so thank you so much!
I'm sure Alec will apreciate this even if he doesn't post a personal reply. I was also inspired by him and started blacksmithing lessons with a local expert. I will be attending regularly in the years to come and also have my own workshop almost completed. I am waiting to collect my anvil and have all my other machines in place as well as all my PPE and safety procedures such as fire extinguishers/blankets/buckets and burn/medical kit. Now I need to practice a lot and learn from all the mistakes I am going to make in the time to come.
Yeah, after watching these videos for months, I got into a blacksmithing class a couple weeks ago... tremendous fun! Cant wait to work again

I’m gonna go against the majority and give it to Alec hands down. He used a much more modern aesthetic and the edges looked very nice to me. The problem with Will’s is that the “shaft” of the arrow is much too thick to be proportional. If the diameter of the band was halved, I would choose his design. But, as it stands, Alec got it in my book.
Alec made a very rugged design by making it thick and hexagonal but was trying to make a female bracelet. Without the gemstone, I'd score it higher but even then there's no real design to it. I feel like he could have made it out of steel and added threading or something to make it into a mens bracelet with a blacksmithing or mechanic design. I'm personally not a fan of the bangle he chose and it'd not work with the design he did. Going the other way, he could've made it out of silver and made a thinner band with it being completely round, not hexagonal, while keeping the stone, and it'd make a lovely womens bracelet. Will made the material work for him by making it look like it's wood, gave it a somewhat intricate design with a lot of little details down to the texturing of the various parts being different. While both you and I asked for thinner bands, silver and copper are both extremely soft metals so any thinner would be too easy to bend. I also feel like in Alec's the stone should've been in the center of the band as I think the opening should go to the bottom, though I admit that'd take something away from the design. The detailing was also really rushed on Alec's as he didn't manage his time well while if Will tried to do the same thing again, he'd probably be able to make two in the same time. Will's was well detailed, had a clear theme, and made the material work for him. Alec's feels off in every way, it's terrible detailed and has almost none, without being minimalistic, had a theme of womens but didn't achieve it very well, and looks like it was quickly made out of a piece of scrap, which, in fairness, it was.
Enjoyed this video tremendously! Need more of this!!! I like them both equally as they have different characteristics but are both very nice.

No worries. Alex explained before that they approached him to be on the show but it didn't work out with his own timeline and his goals. Man, seems like forever ago in London he mentioned he wasn't into the gig.

I think you should of gave yourself the hour, regardless if he didnt use it all. Kinda unfair that he wasnt rushed while alec was.
Whatever. It just seemed like Alec deviated from his original plan after he saw the result of Wills work so everything became more frantic and less planned. Or that Will had a more concrete plan going in and stuck too it and Alec had a more fluid plan and made several course corrections as he went. One of the two.
Agreed... And Will could/should have used more time to make his arrow tail look better and improve on detail work all around

On the other hand, competition is good for refining individual excellence. I wouldn't want them to compete on a major project, but a bit of competition on little projects will help them be a better team.

Alec definitely wins this one! As a metalsmith myself everyone was making those lame arrow bracelets first year of class...NOBODY was doing stonesetting at all which is loads more complex then just hammering in a design. Good stuff Alec!!!
