I hear a lot of people saying that his trick with the poker chips is debunked because he had 2 poker chips. But remember, misdirection and pick-pocketing is not supposed to be video taped for play-back. If he met you on the street, he would take every damn thing you have including your underwear without you knowing it.
Yup, & he's also doing a take on a very old trick for pickpockets. When performing slight of hand or card tricks for the person it doesn't even matter if the trick fails as long as he focuses the person's & anyone else's attention to it. The real trick is that all the person's valuables are being lifted while doing it. Also, when working in teams (which is far more common) by performing tricks he draws a crowd that bunches up together. This gives easy opportunity for the rest of the team to move through the crowd & start working as well. This can bring in a good haul in a short period. Be careful, ecspecially in some European countries cause this is still in practice although your far more likely to get pickpocketed on subways, trains, buses, bars... really any where ppl bunch up.
@@stxgod well that's the point there, the poker chips were used to make you lose your attention and focus on them chips. knowing the trick will make you more distracted and easier to rob because instead of focusing on 1 chip you are now focusing on 2 chips
POWERGLOVE KilleDX well, yeah, but the how of it wasn’t the point. The point was that most of us (me definitely included) didn’t even notice his wardrobe changed until after he pointed it out at the end, and it was a obvious change too. Completely different color shirt, no tie, and completely untucked and none of it registered to me because the information wasn’t important enough for my brain (Frank) to note while he was bombarding us constantly to keep our focus on what he was doing and not what he looked like.
@@KingNefiiria But it is the fact that no one noticed. Apollo's entire presentation was about how people are able to control one's perception by misdirection. He proved his theory true by changing his shirt and tie (regardless of how and when he did it) and then needing to point it out after an audience of people were watching him perform for a solid 3-5 minutes with the changed attire and not even realizing that it was changed
@@qwiz1787 Aye, I agree, but audiences like these tend to stay quiet until the appropriate times. Anyone in the audience could have noticed but no one would have pointed it out because that's just downright rude. And unless you're a standup comic making a bunch of drunk assholes laugh you're probably not going to get heckled.
Ah! Right as he passes behind the large camera is when he pulls off the purple shirt and tie facade! This guy is great. Is anyone else here a big enough dork to have watched this repeatedly to figure it out?
everything with this one was so clever! When he walked through the audience he tested to see if someone had some easily removed equipment or outfit that was easy to steal from (joe with loose pants and watch). He changed clothes when handing in the pointer, he use two poker chips during his attentiongrabbing "magic tricks" (he did say he would cheat if possible) and then the shirmp and ultimately the theft as everyone had their focus to the max... This dude's a real life locke lamora!
SPOILERS> To the people trying to explain the 'big mystery' of where his tie and vest went - the point was not him changing clothes - that was easy. The point was that you didn't notice he had changed that whole time, until he asked you what he was wearing again at the end.
I am a magician and a pick pocket, I have been studying pick pocket and Apollo Robbins for over a year now, and I still can't figure out how exactly he does his watch steals.
TheRussianGenius if you realize when he grabs the guys wrist he is undoing the watch and moved his hand to the guys shoulder and he looked away and didnt feel the watch coming off
TheRussianGenius removing the watch is simple really, the difficult bit is keeping them distracted long enough. the best tutorial ive seen was by derren brown in his 'the great art robbery' stunt
Nah. He did it when he was going back onstage with his volunteer. He never was wearing a purple shirt. The whole thing was like a clip-on. When he says "I don't think I need this clicker anymore, here ya go." he just grabbed it and yanked it off and handed it to his assistant in the dark.
@@GuitarGuy057 the idea isnt that.. its that he changed and nobody even cared about that detail. it shows we don't surveillance and collect it right.Things can change in your surroundings and you wouldnt even notice
I went to high school with him. I didn't know him, but I knew who he was because he was always in the hall between classes doing juggling or card tricks or some other little magic tricks. He was Paul Robbins back then. Kinda cool .
The way Hidden Time Wealth dives into the concept of productivity is mind-blowing. Hidden Time Wealth tips are pure gold, and I wish more people knew about them.
4:33 he's still wearing the purple shirt, the tie, and the black vest. Then at exactly 4:38 you see him touch his tie. I assume this dark little bit before he steps back onto the stage is where he removes the clothes he was wearing because the first time we see his grey flannel is just barely at 4:46 when a little bit of the collar peaks out from the coat while he's talking to the guy. I've lightly followed Apollo Robbins for a while now and everytime I see his tricks I'm amazed at how skilled he is at directing the attention of his audience.
I've seen his watch-stealing routine about eight years ago, for the first time. It was basically the same, but his entertaining skills really skyrocketed. 😃 And the shirt trick is new.
If you look closely, at 5:44, he puts his hand in his pocket to get a second chip. Which he then uses to place on the volunteer’s shoulder, he then conceals the first chip within his hand using “sleight of hand”. Without a second chip, it would be impossible to put it on the volunteer’s shoulder since his left hand(the hand with the chip) never makes contact with his right hand(the hand he uses to put the chips on the shoulder.
what he does is, takes the first chip and slyly places it into the other hand and touches the shoulder then places the first hand back into his palm and acts as if he is putting the chip in it. Its so sly and quick and wonderfully coordinated by his other hand that it looks like he might as well have never lifted the chip.
@@MEGAtheguy the tie, shirt and waistcoat are of very light materials, they are all connected and they only cover the front of the body. They all end up under his trousers or coat.
@5:06, @5:12, @5:30, @5:35 he's conditioning the man into being used to being touched on the shoulder and being less vigilant of those areas so when he Apollo places the chip on his shoulder he thinks nothing of being touched there nor does he look.

The whole point of him walking into the audience is you focus thinking he is pick pocketing while he is only using that as a plant to change his shirt. Brilliant
@sarthakjaiswal5864 theres actually a way to wear a shirt so it can be removed easily, not sure whether he used that method but I read about it in a book
@@mishaal93 when he went on stage (4:43) he gave the clicker, just before that he shakes his shirt. this is actualy a decently well known magic trick. if done properly like here it is fast and deceptive (offcourse you need to have ur back to the audience for this to work).

I feel ashamed at how easily he was able to control my attention.
Corin Wright no need to feel ashamed. The human mind is very easily manipulated if you’ve had the proper training. This guy has obviously spent years mastering his craft.

@Wrestling Favourites Except you can see when he does it...almost. And it's during a scene where there's no cuts.
When he dropped that clicker(?) Off he tore the faux short off and dropped it with the non clicker hand..right? It was dark there so i think the audience in front was still deceived

I hear a lot of people saying that his trick with the poker chips is debunked because he had 2 poker chips. But remember, misdirection and pick-pocketing is not supposed to be video taped for play-back. If he met you on the street, he would take every damn thing you have including your underwear without you knowing it.
But he did have 2 chips but you are right you can't rewind real life
Yup, & he's also doing a take on a very old trick for pickpockets.
He changed his shirt while giving back his clicker to the clerk lady and I didnt even notice until he told us later...
Nope and nope...
It's not that no one noticed, it's more like it wasn't important until he pointed it out.
Joe is so likeable he has by far the best personality and kindest smile I've ever seen

He would steal the 10 feet distance as well.

@@jiafei6833122 lmao x2
everything with this one was so clever!

SPOILERS> To the people trying to explain the 'big mystery' of where his tie and vest went - the point was not him changing clothes - that was easy. The point was that you didn't notice he had changed that whole time, until he asked you what he was wearing again at the end.
Yes, but his back was to the audience.
I am a magician and a pick pocket, I have been studying pick pocket and Apollo Robbins for over a year now, and I still can't figure out how exactly he does his watch steals.
Does he talk about that technique that he uses in this video? He is also gonna be relaxing a watch steal DVD, thats what I heard.
TheRussianGenius if you realize when he grabs the guys wrist he is undoing the watch and moved his hand to the guys shoulder and he looked away and didnt feel the watch coming off
TheRussianGenius
removing the watch is simple really, the difficult bit is keeping them distracted long enough. the best tutorial ive seen was by derren brown in his 'the great art robbery' stunt
TheRussianGenius
It's easy..
Did you ever see David Blaine's street special where he shows how he does it? It was something like he put pressure where his watch is.
The thing with his clothes at the end was mindblowing...

And the shirt trick is new.
Thank you. Someone saw it
He’s a magician then
He said that he'll cheat when you give him a chance
what he does is, takes the first chip and slyly places it into the other hand and touches the shoulder then places the first hand back into his palm and acts as if he is putting the chip in it. Its so sly and quick and wonderfully coordinated by his other hand that it looks like he might as well have never lifted the chip.
He did the poker chip thing multiple times and I never caught it
