Legends runs great. Performance over graphics imo. Legends might have crappy draw distance but at least it runs at a consistent framerate. I never had an issue with that. I also enjoyed how you as a character were part of the battle as much as your Pokémon. With the mounting, throwing, running, dodging, crafting etc.. but the best part of Legends is how there are very little interruptions during gameplay. Just a little notification on the top left of the your screen that you can get to when you’re ready. Gone were the days of sitting there waiting for bars to go up. Even evolving is up to you when you do or don’t want to evolve. And don’t let me get started on the soundtrack!!! Legends is one of the best Pokémon games ever made!

You took every single word out of my mouth. It’s such a smooth, immersive experience. I love the flow of gameplay, the flow of battles, the flow of story progression and missions. I’m 35 and I’ve been playing Pokémon since literally the beginning. Arceus is one of my top 5 games ever, not just of the Pokémon series. But it is absolutely the best Pokémon title by a long shot. I love how they kept the core game play of Pokémon, but all the new aspects are just made together into perfection. It’s exactly what the Pokémon games needed. I personally love games with stealth mechanics, open world, crafting, and collecting so this was just everything for me.

If Legends were an Full-Open World, with more towns and landscapes to explore plus a more engaging storyline, it would be the perfect Pokemon game. Personally, I'm not too crazy about battles than I am about catching and completing the Dex, If they made battling alpha Pokemon more difficult to capture and engaging to fight (for example, if they could call hordes of pokemon for backup) that would be enough for me. If we ever get a new Legends game I hope it takes place in Johto and Kanto, it has the most interesting spots to explore like Lake of Rage, Lavender Town and Mt. Silver.

I like agile and strong style because you can use it to your favor and it changes the flow of the battle. It made even wild Pokémon fun to fight because they stood a chance. Also legends is one of the few times I have really connected to the player and side characters. The main hub means we get to see the same characters often, allowing us to actually acquaint with them. Also the player character felt like they had a fresh notice. They were taken out of their time and thrown into a village of people who don’t trust them so it makes sense that we would want to earn their trust and eventually catch all the Pokémon in hopes of returning home. The time where the character gets thrown out of the village despite all their hard work because of fear mongering is genuinely sad because in that moment they are truly alone. Away from their real home and rejected by their temporary one. I think Pokémon should have more quiet moments like the shinx scene. Because there is something nice about seeing feeling go through the player. Especially when the shinx goes off to it’s own family but there we are all alone.

I had fun with both games, but Legends Arceus made a lasting, positive impression. it really changed the formula up and made the catching mechanic very fun. I have no idea why they decided to go back to the old way of doing it since that was clearly a past relic. Additionally, while ScarVIo were open world, a lot of the game play was cookie cutter and bland (team star missions being essentially the same mobile-game style task repeatedly).

I don't care if I never see the agile/strong style system again, but the overall battle and catch experience from Arceus is far superior. At least getting into battles is a lot faster than Sw/Sh

  • @SUCHMISH
    @SUCHMISH Рік тому +17

Hate to break it to you, but Arceus is better by MILES. It was a polished experience that had few bugs and glitches and while I can say that some more time could of been used in development, it still is a great experience from start to finish. This game had side quests to the hilt while Scarlet/Violet only had three main story lines and a final story and... Not much else I'm afraid... That's part of where SV start a long walk on a short pier and this is only one small piece of why I spent 60 bucks on Sonic Frontiers instead over this. Arceus and missions that you can continue forward with after the story is done, and the way you tackle them is entirely up to you!! That makes Arceus feel more open than SV because with SV you are basically going to head towards that final destination anyway since that's the only thing you can do. It makes me wonder why it's even considered a open world game to begin with since it still falls into that same trap that previous games fell into. If they really wanted it to feel open, then they could of based the events around the player so that if they did take the intentional final gym first, then the Pokemon at that area will have levels to composite for the levels that your Pokemon are at, the first event with Nemona will play there instead of the final. I don't see why they couldn't do this since the interior of all the gyms (except Larry's) are the same. I also wish that there was more to do with the Pokedex like Arceus. I enjoyed filling that in Arceus more than any other game. It feels more like the stuff that a Pokemon researcher would do than just... Catch Pokemon and automatically fill it out... Yeah, Arceus is a clear winner here.
I say the story in Arceus is much better even if it's hampered by a few things. SV has plot holes that you can drive a truck through with the Team Star story and the final story in the cavern. I was expecting Clavell to rip off his mask and reveal that he was a Team Rocket grunt this whole time since most of those plots evolve around the school being the primary cause of trouble. Stop and think about it, Team Star was bullied out of school and the staff did nothing to stop it, after the staff realized this everyone resigned. But if everyone resigned then who hired the new staff and how is this school even open? If it was Clavell then clearly there is some serious issues with how he runs things. Then at the end of that story they all turn around and forgive him with out any real redemption? It seems kinda dumb. I think it would of been better for Clavell if he hacked your phone at the start of the game and hid himself just to get team star together so he could apologize about how badly they were treated, and to start a brand new initiative having them at the helm. While being something a little more predictable, would of felt more honest and sincere. I don't have too much of a problem with Arven's story since it was a heartfelt relationship with his Dog like Pokemon. I like the idea where the parent is absent the situation a kid would turn to a pet to fill that void. But that ending (ho yea, spoilers if you care) with the twist of the professor being nothing but a AI the whole time... Is interesting, but is poorly executed and comes entirely out of left field. It's disappointing to see that even armed with the knowledge that the school payed for the whole thing, Arven's parents were killed by the Pokemon that you spend all your time with, and the school continued to make money by taking out the Terastalizaton crystals gets... Written off... Again, I feel like Cavell should of been held up for some of this... I also fail to see where the Legendary Pokemon of the game tries to make it up to Arven or how Arven gets no remorse from his new friends. Though if I were to fix that, I would go on longer than I should and this is already quite the read. The whole story needs a serous overhaul.
Arceus was not a perfect story, but had some more memorable moments and characters. It starts out with meeting Professor Laveton on prelude beach, and him asking if you can lend your skills over to the Galaxy team. Shortly after you start, strange things start happening and your services are required to help calm down the Titans, but to make peace with the Diamond and Pearl clans. Commander Kamado had some good intentions, but was easily misguided. Captain Cyllene had the most memorable moment with a quote that still sticks with me, even to this very day. Adaman was a relay chill guy where you had to work to earn Irida's trust. The wardens are fun too, though Melli can go jump off the nearest cliff. Heck, there is even something memorable with the Miss Fortunes, the opposing team for the game. I don't know how much I can reveal with out spoiling it for you, but it's miles better than what SV has to offer. The fact that I don't want to spoil it should say something...
While both the games graphics are not great I still would say that Arceus has a clear advantage. Even if there could of been more polish with Arceus at least it runs at 30FPS with minor frame drops, shadows and lighting display properly, and without grass or terrain clipping through other objects. Heck, shiny hunting was easier since there was a animation that played out on the field for it. SV make it harder especially since some shinies have very minor color pallet swaps and there are color blind people out there. There is also the intrusive Pokeball/Pokemon at certain areas for SV, and it's kinda hard not to ignore. Also the mutiplayer that gets greatly touted is by far the most broken part of the game. The interaction in between players is very minimal, other players end up experiencing events individually but refuses to remove the ones that joined the game from cutscenes/battles ruining the experience, and bringing in some broken models and animations. Also, Terra Raids are incredibly broken, since the rules of traditional battle mechanics are ignored making it a free for all. Not to mention that there is no system to tell what the other people are doing, making it even more baffling to run than before. Another thing about Terra Raids is that you would be VERY lucky to join at least one with out any technical difficultly. Not to mention that Pokemon can just spawn in walls and just randomly suicide off cliffs and into rivers at any time (yours can too). There is so much more to cover on SV that makes it more fundamentally broken compared to Arceus, but this comment is long enough as it is...

Arceus by a long shot. I’m 35 and I’ve been playing Pokémon since day 1. It’s been a huge part of my life. The feelings and emotions that I felt while playing through Arceus I had not gotten from a game since the the very first ones. Arceus is one of my top favorite games ever. But it’s by far the best Pokémon game in the entire series. The story in Scarlet/Violet is really good. I’ll give it that much. And the art style is cool. I’m not at all saying it’s a bad game because it’s not. I just LOVE Arceus and think it’s levels above Scarlet and Violet

First thing first, I can't think of Legends as a spin-off. It's made by game freak and it's cannon to and consistent with the mainline games so far that even the protagonist is Lucas/Dawn from the future. It's just a mainline Pokémon with a different style of gameplay for me.
Second, I'm also easily team Legends. It's funny that you said Legends story felt pieced and SV didn't while for me it's the exact opposite. SV's 3 storyline felt really disconnected to each other for me, even if they did "come together" (in a not so satisfying way) in the finale. Though I must say the potential is definitely there, so that's a shame. Legends, while just having 2, managed to weave them together. By advancing the Pokédex, you can open a new area to challenge the noble, and with that an opportunity to advance your Pokédex even more, and so on.
Also I feel Legends' noble battle have more variation to it than Team Star and Titan Battle combined. The side quest is also one of SV's lacking side of things, as it adds quite a big amount in Legends content (which I also think better than SV's).
Overall, it comes down to the player's preference, like you said. This is a well made and fair video, good job!

I think the reason Legends did so well was because given the full 3d environment, taking a more spinnoff approach was a far better idea. No matter how much we want it, the core mainseries approach just doesn't translate all that well into full 3d (take how strange encounters were in Scarlet/Violet, and how empty and small they feel) I think in the future for however long we still have the switch, I feel like we should get more games similar to spinnoffs, rather than core mainseries

Even with SV, I still prefer Legends Arceus, especially for shiny hunting, because the movement, optimization, quicker but still good-looking animations and catching mechanics all just felt so much better, I still think SV are good especially as the first truly open-world game, but GF deserved at least another year (in an ideal world, two) to bring over all of the PLA improvements rather than just some, flesh out some parts of the world (mainly towns) further, improve optimization and add whatever they're planning to add with the DLC.

It was very enjoyable to fight in Arceus. I see some people saying that agile moves are ridiculous but
When you take turns attacking in turn, it's boring to attack in turn if you don't have attacks that change the order or have healing attacks like recover and refresh. Also playing game in 20-26 fps are ☠️

When it comes to content somehow I'd like to agree with you since S/V does have 3 storylines but for having side quests for PLA makes it on par for me and you can actually go inside houses in the village and get quests in those houses. Its the freaking mechanics that makes me want PLA more than S/V like what you mentioned thr rolling and evading, the chance you'll get knocked out by a pokemon, the new catching mechanic, the flying mechanic that just devolved to Woody's line "falling with style" in S/V. Pokemon feels like it took one step forward with PLA then took 5 steps back with S/V. I do also agree with the str ang agi moves I don't like it also. Pokemons seems much more alive and part of the pokemon world in PLA than S/V. I dunno its just my opinion. I loved this game since 1st gen up to 3rd then skipped returned to Sw/Sh got excited with PLA then this eith S/V its just sad. I'd rather love to have them be like octopath traveler's graphic design if they want to continue with that kind of catching mechanic.

these games were in development at the same time so I wouldn't say S/V had "cut" content from Legends even though Legends came out first. I'd say both games were experimental in their own right and each game had elements better than the other. However, I would say the elements in Legends stuck the landing more for me personally while S/V were just fun games. Now if gen 10 excludes content from Legends, then it would DEFINITELY be cut content.

Scarlet and violet may have just as good of a story, but legends has miles better of performance and gameplay in general. I wouldn't trust Scarlet/violet to run reliably and it runs frustratingly inconsistent a lot. Also it can break when you least expect it. While there are nitpicks you can say about it, legends has more solid performance in comparison. Legends is the better choice and should have been the sole game this year. Scarlet/Violet definitely needed more development time and suffers because it was rushed. If it was given the time needed, more people would say more positive things about it. I would wait until Scarlet/violet is fixed before recommending it to anyone.

Ok, I'm just gonna cut to the chase right now, at this point while I like the idea, I'm really not liking Pokémon Violet, the graphics are one thing....but there is one aspect as to why I'm not liking this game.....its cheapness.
Now I don't know it its just my Pokémon, or their states or both, but it appears that the AI's Pokémon can do even more damage then yours Pokémon, just today when I fought a trainer with a Spirit Tomb who was at level 29, my Pokémon was Crystalize, was level 30 and had 60-es HP, but then after the Spirit Tomb used Nasty Plot, it then used a move that should have not KO my Pokémon, and it Ficken KOed it, so I was quiet pissed at this.
I'm not saying that it's as hard as balls as games like Pokémon B2 & W2, but whenever I play this game, I have a nuvis expression on my face thinking "Oh gog what other bullshit is gonna happen next?", so I hope I'm noty doing anything wrong here, because with that being said, I am still gonna play Pokemon Violet as it IS fun, but man does it have its bullshit moments that gets under my skin.

Legends arceus in my opinion at least, has a bad but at least better story, graphics, framerate, gameplay, and a lot of features that were invented that everyone liked but weren't added to s/v for no apparent reason like catching without battling, moving during battle, switching between pokemon, agile and strong moves etc. (I like strong/agile)
And the excuse of it being open world for the FPS doesn't apply since it unloads everything you don't see and also has the same bad render distance issue.
+ would like to note that the hardware does not affect the performance at all. BOTW is older, much more demanding, and yet runs better than both. There are other games too.
It's hard to realize just how sh*t of a game s/v is when just comparing it to pokemon arceus, a game already known as being pretty bad for the switch's standards.

Legends Arceus, it's more like the anime than any previous Pokemon game. That is the measure in which we should judge things.
Stop this main line excuse nonsense and simply see it as
-in the anime they have freedom of movement
-they choose to battle or not
    -they throw pokeballs freely
-they use environmental resources for crafting.
-you see your Pokemon in pastures

i think Legends graphics and performance are better.
and in general i find Legends gameplay to be a lot more fun and engaging for an open type pokémon game, as it is fast paced and i usually need to take decissions such as if i want to sneak on a pokemon or trying to get him stunned with throwable objects, or battling it, and movement options are just great.
In Pokémon SV.. idk, it wasn't for me, coming from Legends, the game felt incredibly slow for an open type pokémon game, much more limited, like, it felt as if i was playing a game that tries to be legends but also tries to be traditional pokémon and isn't good at neither of those things.

Like, getting the open world wish fufillment the fandom has had for years suddenly makes it the best? I dunno, maybe open world games are just not my thing. Just on a surface level, Scarlet and Violet's open world seems emptier or "less alive" than something like Breath of the Wild. Then again I suspect people giving the huge praises don't play much other than these games because I can name a bunch of games where the open world looks more breath taking, alive and dynamic. The Xenoblade games come to mind.

I put about 85hours into both so starting with legends the catching in my opinion is wat makes the game so good and the final fight that actually made me stop spamming a and the Nobel Pokemon were some of the most fun I have had so I rate legends a 8.8/10 also agile and strong style sucked now with scarlet and violet me doing the Pokédex made me so bored unlike legends both stories are not to bad the Titans are fun and they don’t scale to your level and that’s bad for a open world one and team star I thought was decent so in my opinion legends is a 8.8/10 and scarlet and violet is a 8.5/10 results legends win

I played all Pokemon games from original till ultra sun and moon...it was such a good and simple time.
Then i gave up on Pokemon after seeing let's go and sword and shield and brilliant diamond pearl .
I regained intrest in Pokemon after legend Arceus coz how unique it was .
And now I again gave up on Pokemon the scarlet and violet.
Starting from the new gen Pokemon, graphics , gameplay everything about this game bug me so bad .

btw the bad graphics isn’t the nintendos switch’s fault since games like mario kart which are made for the switch exists

lol what PLA is NOT a spinoff. why is this a thing? gamefreak doesnt make spinoff games, they literally outsource all of them. they basically only work on the main/core games
