The biggest issue I have with mainline Pokemon on the switch is the fact that they take one step forward and then three steps back. It just makes no sense to me.
How scarlet and violet dominates all those other games stop the Nostalgia stuff it doesn’t make sense with the sells people just wanna say anything lol
@@AnthonySmith-cg9sd as someone who owns violet, no it doesnt. At all. the game isnt horrific but saying it "dominates all those other games" is just lying.
@@viviorko My main issue is the performance. It's way too bad. Too laggy. It really does destroy my immersion. I'm a gamer that prefers fps over graphics, but in this case we have none of the two. Sword and Shield had better graphics in battle, the colors, the animation. I enjoy Violet for its content (terrastalization and pokemon battles in general), I don't enjoy the visuals and the performance. That's my only main big issue. I do have minor issues as well but they are minor indeed.
"A lot of the Hisuian Pkmn are lazy designs." The crazy part is this isn't even the most controversial thing said in the video. That's how u know it's filled with them.
I played Violet a year late, when the dlc was already out. So my experience with Scarlet and Violet were amazing cause the bugs and glitches were improved by the time I got the product. I did not get the glitches people were talking about. I got to enjoy the amazing story of Paldea, Arven as well as the dlc. I think timing is key. For me Scarlet Violet are the second best, first being Legends Arceus
Finally someone with a brain at least.. I hate genwunners so much.. the game is alright.. I’ve been playing Pokémon since red and still enjoyed scarlet/pla
They said Dexit was because so they could have more time for better animations and graphics which was a complete lie. Not only are the graphics almost as bad as the PS2 but the worst part was that all the 3D pokemon models were reused from sun and moon and x and y. If you reused all the models anyway then transfer all the pokemon models which would take a month and a half to do at worse
I wouldn’t say a complete lie because just look at Legends and SV, the models and animations are a huge upgrade and that was obviously gonna take a lot of time to do which they probably didn’t have for Sword and Shield.
@@ProtoBrown That's true, but I mean during Sword and Shield it was a complete lie. They said they were going to do it in that game but they didn't. If a phone company says that the tenth phone has a super battery only for the tenth phone not to have that and in truth the eleventh phone has that, then the phone company has lied. That's basically what Game Freak did with Sword and Shield
That's also my biggest problem with the Dexit :/ I mean if they wanna cut out Pokemon at least be honst about it. I also think it was a pretty late decision, since they didn't want to delay the game, cause in the beta they still had a few of the cut Pokemon in it :/
@@duff0120 That was just an example. If you compare the graphics of Pokemon Sword and Shield to games like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Luigi's Mansion 3, Kirby and the Forgotten, Mario Wonder and other first party Nintendo Switch games it's night and day
Sword and Shield are some of my favourites. I truly don't understand all of the hate they receive. Sure, they are by no means the best creations but aren't exactly a crime against nature.
@@PokemonNerd265 I agree with you. The wild area is very good, I love being able to randomly collect items while you explore. The new pokemon had pretty good designs, especially Corviknight and Urshifu. VGC matches were more like a chess game and less like an unstoppable hotspot for power creep. Sword is actually the only main series game I have played, besides Let’s Go Pikachu, so I have a soft spot for it.
Sword and shield is the reason why I even talk about Pokémon. It was the first Pokémon game that I played and if someone talks crap about it, I will find you
Agreed, but the fans have themselves to blame. They keep rewarding GF regardless of what bs they pull. At this point I get my Pokémon fix through romhacks, fans get the franchise more than GF itself.
Agreed. Wish they would revamp the mainline games and go to a hybrid 2D/3D system I’ve seen in some unreal engine 5 concepts of what Pokemon games should look like.
I like the chibi artstyle of Brillant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and considering I never played them or the originals, I think I'm really going to enjoy that game. Already ordered it!
I didn't know the Pokemon games don't have cloud save, so when I sold my switch and bought an OLED, while booting up Sword I realized all my progress was gone 💀
Funnily enough, my first playthrough of Legends Arceus reminded me a lot of the ranger trilogy and no other game has felt like it since. I think it’s a mix of the quest system, the humor, and the boss fights. Anyways great vid (plz make one about the ranger games)
Legends is incredible overrated. Game was ok but only on the surface level with little depth to the game. Game has very little replay ability. Hopefully they evolve the legends formula in AZ but I have little hope for Gamefreak nowadays.
@@MIBxSpartan the replay value is shiny hunting. Seriosly one of the most fun games to do it in but if thats not your thing i get it. Finishing the pokedex is really fun but once you do that the game is basically out of content. If pokemon z adds more fleshed out battles and post game it would be amazing.
@@GraceCairns-v4dNo sh*t? Every game feels complete when the pokedex is complete. Jesus pokemon fans complain about absolutely everything and nothing all at once
Been playing every gen of Pokemon since gen 1 and hot take, the games on Switch are great. Great replay value. In 5-10 years people will look back fondly on these games like they do now with BW and DPP.
Ranked? Because if it was then Imo I think it should be 1) Scarlet and Violet 2) Pokken DX 3) Sword and Shield 4) Pokémon Unite 5) Pokémon Let’s Go 6) Pokémon Cafe I know most won’t agree
@@CharlotteNarukami Scarlet and violet were ghad awful. What are you smoking about. It was 1 step forward and 5 steps backward from pokemon legends areceus.
Here’s my issue with DLC. Sure they add some content to the end of the game. But with the DLC era we don’t get any fine tunes or updates to the main stories and world like third versions being. So the half baked game we get the first time no longer gets proper finish. You just get more half backed added in. I admit it’s a poor cash grab in the first place to sell incomplete games and then sell the same game more complete: but this way we don’t even get that complete game at all anymore
Out of all pokemon games on switch, scarlet and violet are probably the worst. It is probably because I was spoiled by Pokemon legends arceus, and I was expecting them to elevate the game yet we got an unfinished half bake game. The other games were just okey but were not memorable.
While I don’t think main line Pokémon games on the switch are as bad as many people say they are I do believe they are the weakest line up of main line game to date. They all just feel like one step forward and two steps back. That said though Legends and Mystery Dungeon GX are the best Pokémon games on the switch which is sad because they’re spin offs.
The games are not bad because they are gen 4 on switch. The problem is that pokemon set a high bar for remakes innovating the original title and they didn’t do that. Otherwise they are solid but it’s the lack of innovation combined with what they could have been
Well, it's been bad since the 3ds. Pokémon peaked in the DS era and it's been a downward spiral ever since, but since the jump to the switch and to proper console we were expecting something special and it's embarassing, lucky the gameplay still makes it entertaining althought stupid one off gimmicks are worsening it (Exception being Legends, but who would've thought not being afraid to inovate would yieald this result)
@@enhidri160you’re a kid aren’t you? If you grew up with good Pokemon games you would understand what everyone is saying; but bad pokemon games are your only frame of reference, so you inherently can’t tell a good pokemon game from a bad one. It’s really a shame
Maybe it’s because I don’t play Pokémon like that but when I picked up Brillant Diamond I genuinely enjoyed it… it’s a good game and don’t really so why people hate it so much…
I just wish it was so much more. When the remade Ruby and sapphire it had a ton of new stuff that made it feel different but Brilliant Diamond only had a few minor changes
@@StrawHatMidas true I can see that being a little underwhelming… I just think overall it’s a solid game but including new features would’ve been cool too
@@Firat08 I’ve played Pokémon before but never actually played it played it like that if that makes sense… I only started playing the whole game like 7 years ago when I decided to try fire red {mind you I played a little of it when I was a kid but never the whole thing} so I did the second time and actually found it to be a fun game… but after that never touched another Pokémon game until Brilliant Diamond… Gen 1 - Gen 4 was the era I grew up on and I’ve always said if I were to play another Pokémon game it’s going to be a gen 4 remake so when I heard brilliant diamond is coming out I was hooked especially since I only just got my switch earlier that year… and imo the chibi style of the game is how I picture Pokémon anyways so it didn’t bother me… I was hooked because it felt like a classic Pokémon game with up to date graphics
Violet is my favorite Pokemon game, maybe just cuz I got it late so I didn't have bugs and glitches and i just had a great time zooming around the map and finishing the main story and Dlc
Honestly, I don’t think it matters if the switch games are good. We could sit here all day and say why they are or aren’t but SwSh and ScVi are the 2nd and 3rd highest selling games in the franchise
Sales don’t really matter though, look at any reviews for sword/shield or scarlet/violet. They average like a 4 or 5 out of 10. Yes they sold a lot of copies, because the switch is the third best selling console of all time and every kid who owned a switch begged mom and dad for the new pokemon. Quantity=\=Quality
I loved shining pearl. It brought back my love for the game back. And now I’m loving scarlet, although would like a more linear approach to gyms and story. Feel myself just losing interest instead of having the ‘I neeeed to continue’ feeling like old school games
Mainline Pokémon should have stayed in 2D, or 2and1/2D. It would be better to tweak existing features to change up the gameplay instead of introducing lame gimmicks. Random Pokémon encounters in tall grass, caves, and while surfing were better than seeing them loafing around doing nothing. Pokémon stats, abilities and move pools should be balanced better so that all fully evolved Pokémon are balanced better and we don’t have situations like Delibird being almost useless against a Dragonite at the same level even though delibird has a type advantage. They’ll never be able to fully balance that many Pokémon. But having some evolutionary lines being way better than others regardless of typing is lame. Pokémon is a type of game that benefits from being linear instead of open world because your literally not capable of competing against later game opponents when your just starting out. It’s not like in BOTW or Elder Scrolls where you can make up for your early game weakness by just being good at the game. If they want to keep the story easy for kids that’s cool, but there should be optional side missions that jack up the difficulty for all the fans that are adults. With the memory and performance of the switch they could make a game more similar to an earlier gen game but better with way more content in it and I think that would be a much more fun experience than a game like Scarlet and Violet.
I really dont understand the hate for the gen 4 remakes. They are faithful remakes like gamefreak said they would be. Fire Red and Leaf Green were fairhful and i dont see anyone saying those games suck. All ORAS added was megas really, not that big a deal. Heartgold and SoulSilver werent that different from the originals either.
who would've thought making a faithful remake of bad, unbalanced and broken games while changing absolutely nothing would be hated? only reason people see diamond and pearl as good games is because they're old, aside from that they are very mediocre games.
@@gamesnig Gen 4 is one of the best gens. You can be wrong if you want. There's a reason it is one of the most loved generations of Pokemon despite its flaws. And the remakes fixed all of the issues the original had. You had more fire types (grand underground had a bunch more to choose from), the battle animations weren't slow, the game ran really well, better than Scarlet and Violet, they are really pretty games. They did change a lot. The original didn't have the underground the way it is in bdsp. The original didn't have Ray tracing and beautiful graphics. The original didn't have the exp share or fairy types. The original didn't have fast battle animations. The original wasn't 3D. Like I said, people still love ORAS and all they added to that was mega evolution and primal forms. Big whoop. It was for the most part a faithful remake. Fans are just upset for no reason that a game that was marketed as a faithful remake came out and was exactly what it claimed to be. They wanted them to add megas or dynamax or this or that that wouldn't make it faithful to the original. They wanted them to add the platinum features into the diamond and pearl games, which also wouldn't be a faithful remake.
@@dyllangames3592the reason why people hate the Gen 4 remakes is bc they were expecting platinum content. Meaning they wanted to go to the distortion world when battling team galactic. U can go watch the other videos on why they hate BDSP
@@jerryz2175 but they weren't TOLD they were getting that content. They were told they were getting FAITHFUL remakes. Which is what they got. So they need to stop whining about what they didn't get. Because they got what they were promised. It's no one's fault except their own they expected more than what was told was going to happen. If someone says they're giving me their old Xbox series S when they upgrade to the series X, I'm not going to be mad when they don't give me the SSD they bought for their console. Because all I was told I was getting was the series s, not the series s AND the storage drive.
Mainline Pokémon on the Switch has been a solid 5/10 if I’m being generous. All the games have been half baked and incomplete requiring you to buy the DLC to get the full Pokemon experience. Crazy for me to think that Sword and Shield are probably the “best” mainline Pokémon games on the Switch. Legends Arceus was a nice change of pace but honestly is way overrated and is only really decent on your first playthrough. Scarlett and violet were underbaked messes of a game technically and I wasn’t a fan of the game going open world since every RPG is open world now and it’s just not needed. Don’t get me started on the “Evil” team…. Absolutely garbage and just a tedious mess to go spam auto battle every time. I hope legends AZ evolves the Arceus formula because it really needs it. If they can somehow meld the modern formula with what Arceus did it may be a decent game.
I honestly don't get the complaining on Pokemon Swsh graphics that much, yes it lacks in comparison with other Switch games, but not that much, they feel like Wii, Wii U graphics which is not nearly as bad as fans say. The national dex thing is kinda annoying but it makes sense why they did it, plus it is still really fun to catch all Pokemon there are in the game, the story could've used a bit more time in development but overall the games are not the worst.
I feel like there is no excuse for the graphics, the only thing holding these games back is the Pokémon company just rushing out these games, I doubt Z-A will be better
Brother you are the problem. This kind of thinking is why people just shove their money down GF’s throat when they keep releasing games that look like they came out 10 years ago… like you just compared the graphics to the Wii and that came out when I was 5… I’m 23 now.
No the criticism is valid. SWSH legitimately looks like shit, especially the Wild Area which was the most heavily promoted part of the game. It looks so bad and washed out. Put it side by side with LA and it's literally night and day even though it was the same gen. Let's Go looks better
@@crackermanuelgd I’m all for people enjoying whatever games they want, I’m sure some of my favorite games are considered trash by others so I’m glad you enjoyed it! I remember beating sword in 2 days after getting it as a christmas gift, i felt hollow as the games progression was quite literally a line, and since i played it way after i was given the game i had no way to return it and get 80 dollars back for that dogshit. Can we please have platinum or sun and moon back? Lord almighty.
I sum up gen 8 in this way SV - decent game, great dlc, horrible performance and balancing SWSH - below average game, good dlc, great performance and looks amazing MD remake - fine as is. Exactly what youd expect. Legends arceus - perfect starting point and a A/S tier game LGPE - very fun but RBY and FRLG make them feel unnecessary unless youre shiny hunting
Short answer: Yes, it isn't good. Long answer: The games feel incomplete, full of bugs, and low quality. You can google/YT any old Pokemon games like GEN 5 or HGSS and see how those games excelled in quality and did everything right. You'd think by having strong hardware the games would look and play better, but no. Nevertheless, Pokemon is a franchise that attracts million of people and those people who grew with the original games are grown adults now; as a result, anything Gamefreak does will be received with open arms by the new-gen kinds while praising said games as masterpieces.
@@StrawHatMidas Yea. All the points you bring up are correct still, and I agree with you. Some are funnier or better than others, but I never played one Pokemon game that was outright bad. All the game either hold their value or go up, too.
I personally don’t get the hate for bdsp chibis. The only thing I can see that’s problematic is you can’t take Cyrus seriously when he looks like that but I was never bothered by the chibis. Also I don’t get how the hisuian Pokémon are lazy designs. I think they’re some of the coolest especially zoroark, the starters and goodra. You’re loss I guess but I respect your opinion.
3:50 Another good timing posting this video lol. NSO just announced Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue team. It's nice that Pokemon is giving younger players a chance to compare the remake and one of the originals
And I recommend playing it, because there are aspects that the remake did, that were worse than the originals. Take Friend Areas for example, they are meant to improve the worldbuilding, helping make the place more real and you could visit them in their locations, but in the remake its just a boring menu, its not that different than a regular PC box from a mainline pokémon game.
As a returning fan who stopped after Black and White, I am excited from what I've seen, and I'm also somewhat upset with some changes, but at the same time, willing to embrace them. The only one that looks bad to me is the Let's Go series, little unsure about that one, it had the most things I saw and didn't like. All of that aside though, I still prefer 2D/2.5D Pokémon, and wish they would every so often come out with another title in 2D/2.5D. I feel like that could keep things fresh. But yeah I don't expect much, Nintendo does what Nintendo does.
Saying that "you're not missing out on much" if you do not play Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is doing the game a bit of a disservice. Most of the Mystery Dungeon fanbase has known for years that it is more of a divisive game when it comes to gameplay, but that does not mean that the game isn't really good. A lot of players agree that the mystery dungeon games has some of the best stories in the franchise, especially Explorers of Sky. The story of the Mystery Dungeon games is only really rivalled by Black and White when it comes to the pokemon franchise, except you typically build even stronger attachments in Mystery Dungeon. Take this as a big recommendation (to people in general), please try one of the games (I recommend starting with Rescue Team or Explorers) and then decide if it is for you or not. If you are one of those few people that already loves dungeon crawlers, then you will have a hard time finding a better game series than this. I know people are allowed their own opinion to the games, but please don't spread misinformation that you're not really missing out on much by not playing this kind of game (this statement kind of needs to let people know that it's based on opinion, there are tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of players who would disagree), it is already well known within it's fanbase that some individuals are indifferent to the game and some rank it above even the mainline games. Thanks for coming to my TED talk, and if this comment might come off as agressive, sorry that was not my intention
I hope that everyone has an amazing and memorable rest of the year and safe travels, vacations, work, adventures, gaming, and livestreams throughout the years. 🍀♾️❤️🔥
I actually enjoyed bdsp, pokemon platinum was my most played pokemon game when i was a kid, and getting to play sinnoh again on updated hardware and somewhat better visuals was honestly perfect for me. I understand the hate but i really enjoyed them.
No. Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet are 2 of the greatest mainline Pokemon games. The ever green sales illustrate this as well. The complaints on De-exit and bugs where all overstated, the games were awesome.
I think sword and shield are WILDLY overhated and over criticized. They are great games and pushed the envelope for pokemon! S&V had more issues to me but I love what they were going for and hope they keep going that direction for the future games! :)
@@manueljaramillo2520 nah. Ignore de-exit and bugs (which didn’t affect everybody) Scarlet and violet had great gameplay, the best Pokémon story and characters and a fun open world to explore.
@StrawHatMidas I’ve only played PLA and S/V, and I think they hold up. PLA cut the D/P/P Dex down to make the game better, and it works well. S/V had a large Dex and performance issues. Hopefully Z-A can find a good middle ground.
Honestly happy with pokemon on switch only major complaint is the anti aliasing is so bad that I almost dont even wanna buy another Pokemon game on switch.
First of all we’re all being bias because most of us was from the early era. If we had these games when we were young this ish would be phenomenal. They aren’t trash they are only trash because we saw all what Pokemon had to offer and we’re older and more critical
Honestly, Pokémon should've stopped after ORAS. Mega Evolution helped out a lot of underwhelming Pokémon. Since SM, games relied too heavily on gimmicks. Gen 7 had Z-moves, Gen 8 had Dynamax, and Gen 9 had Tera. Also, Gen 7 and 9 have very underwhelming Pokémon (Turtonator and Iron Thorns are prime examples). Gen 8 had some good ones, though (Dragapult, for example). I stopped playing newer games since ORAS.
My take on the mainline games on Switch is: They all have potential and are fun, but were sadly rushed (exept Let's Go, which is pretty polished and is more like a gameplay opinion that I would have loved the option to battle wild Pokemon and not just be able to capture them and also more postgame content would have been great, but the game looks pretty nice ^^) I had fun with all the games, but it's always just sad to think about how much better they could have been if they weren't rushed ._." The Spinoffs PMD DX and new Snap were both great ^^
They need better direction with the franchise in general. They should keep the core elements and identity of the games we grew up on, and implement unique gameplay mechanics that other games have had success with. Some games that come to mind are Monster Hunter, Botw, etc
2:10 All these years later and people still say Sword and Shield was set up to fail because of the national dex being cut. Gen 3 did the same thing while making many Pokemon limited and/or paywalled. Yet, both gens 3 and 8 succeeded. I'm not saying either gens are the best, that's another topic, subjective at that, but Pokemon wasn't doomed just like it wasn't doomed/ruined when gen 6 rolled around. Can we just move on from the national dex? Pokemon is still going strong whether we like it or not.
I think they should just split the games. Release remakes as let's go titles and make them easy for younger players and keep the mainline games at least a bit challenging.
Despite the major downgrade. I think Pok'emon did okay on the switch. Still could have been better and left a lot to be desired. But DLC is definitely the way to go instead of a 3rd version.
Poor brilliant diamond is getting too much hate, never played the original versions so I'm loving it. Finished let's go eevee ahd halfway through brilliant diamond, sword will be next, then violet and then arceus. Having a blast with these games mostly because I haven't played pokemon since way back on game boy advance with emerald
Lowkey I like the scarlet/ violet games but I got the game a few hours after release and it was HORRIBLE first of all there was a glitch where you fell out of the map and if you forgot to save you’re SCREWED. Second there was another glitch where you could get stuck while riding koraidon/miraidon and you would have to reset your game and again if you forgot to save YOU’RE SCREWED
I did enjoy legends arceus, i liked the mechanics of open world and seeing the pokemon you want to catch. The battles have no loading time and you can run around the pokemon while they fight. I thought it was a very good game. Way different but good.
Back then, Pokemon games were finished. They had some flaw but overall they were beautiful, had a certain charm and the 2D art style made everything so cozy. I think the 3DS 3D graphics were okay, but since the switch it‘s just awful. Due to the open world design and the underpowered switch, Pokemon is just an empty, ugly laggy experience. I think they should have at least tried to bring out one 2D game by now and check the response. I played Scarlet & Violet from start to finish and to be honest, I had some fun. The thing is, it plays like an unfinished mess and goes hand in hand with all the AAA games right now that come out unfinished and should have stayed in development for two more years.
It is like they expected sympathy from us cause having so many pokémon meant too much work. Well you are the ones that kept adding so many pokemon in each gen. If you added a lot less, there wouldnt be so much work to do on animations etc. Like Wingull who looks exactly like he did in gen 6 still
Dexit was nearly pointless. With the DLC of scarlet and violet it literally almost has everything up to that point and one single update could have added the rest of the National dex. That game was rushed too.
@Mr.LameNWatch that's the point. They didn't want to play test every single pokemon because believe it or not they have families they would like to spend time with. 400 is plenty the first time around. People dying around the world. Relax.
@@NA1c158 That's like the worse argument ever. Yeah sorry, but if it was really a time problem then they should maybe just stop rushing games, but maybe delay a game when they see that they don't have enough time to polish it and put everything in the game... And they can also hire more people for play testing. Like it's not that hard, other game developers do it all the time. Like sure, I'm really excited for the new Fantasy Life game on Switch, but I'm also ok with them delaying it, that means that they actually care to release a good product. Of course it's not really the fault of the gamedesigners and programmers, but the higher ups should just not rush the releases. At least it seems like they are actually taking their time with Legend Z, so I hope it won't be rushed like most mainline games on Switch ^^
@Feurigel1806 the people who make the game aren't the people who give them the deadline. Nintendo gives them the deadline and pokemon company fills it. And it's both their faults if they don't meet it, and excuse the men and women who makes a billion dollar franchise for having a life. They don't care about your specific needs. Play or don't.
@@NA1c158 I litterly said in my comment that it's the higher ups fault for making them rush the game ^^" Still that doesn't excuse a rushed game, of course the solution wouldn't be for the programmers and designers to work even longer and more hours, but for the gamerealse to be delayed. That's my point! I never mentioned my specific needs, but I think your excuse for it is just not the reason why it was cut, cause even if the people would have overworked (what they already had to do thanks to the ridiculous deadline) they wouldn't have had enough time to polish it completly, so they had to cut corners and waste potential. But at least it seems like they take their time with Legend Z.
Record number of sales, record number turn outs in competitive, various ways to farm for shiny Pokemon, evolution of marks, Pokemon Home upgrade from Bank.
It's funny to hear you say SWSH was doomed to fail at the start. And they outsold Gold & Silver making them 2nd best selling games in the series XD Funny thing is SV is dangerously close to outselling them. Which I think would be great. Idrc about the performance. Minus that story, character and gameplay wise SV are the best games in the series imo
I don't give Pokemon slack. Scarlet and Vioelt is the worst game ever. And that's coming from me thinking that Sword and Shield was bad, but I rather play that instead. (Obviously trying my best not going to the wild area).
I hope for the next console they forget the 2 gen per console approach. I think gf just got caught off guard by the switch's success and its demand and tried to play it safe and approached the switch era the same way they did with the handheld consoles. I'm not sure if they already have, but they must realize that unless Nintendo is going back to the console x handheld way (which they probably aren't anytime soon maybe) they must optimize and calibrate their development process to that of other triple A game studios like their parent company aka Nintendo. Which they probably already slowly have. They don't have to make triple a quality games ofc, but they need to move forward as if developing games for a console's now. The handheld days are over gf. They need to widen their scopes and produce quality over quantity. Longer development+ broader horizons+passion= success.
The only thing i liked about sword and shield was the gym battles, that was peak. Legend of arceus with the breath of the wild treatment would have been my dream, but instead it looks bad and boring, but i liked it. I played let's go pikachu for the nostalgia, it was great, but the GO catching mechanics are horrible. Bought Violet a few days ago for 30 bucks, not to hyped from what i've seen. (pokemon transforming into bykes like a digimon is dumb). But i'll still play it.
Something the lets go games dont get enough credit for is cohesive art direction and execution. Of the rpgs they look the best and i love the look of all the pokemon in the overworld, random battles just add needless tedium. Even without Go mechanics though I think the scope too narrow and your candy pilled pikachu makes any challenge moot. I like how the defence of sword/ shield is I liked the pokemon, the gimmick wasnt the worst, and spending 90 dollars for the game and its dlc is better than buying a game twice. Which were previously 40ish dollar releases. I know its not mobile games any more, games are bigger than ever, but the constant "at least the gameplay is fun" defense just withered up inside me this console generation
If I had to break down my thoughts on the mainline...which I enjoyed all in some ways.. Let's Go: fine, thought I think they would've done well to give non-motion options. I'm actually intrigued to try with my Split Pad pro since it doesn't have the gyro so I have to use the sticks to aim. SwSh: admittedly probably my favorite? Stuff was taken out, sure, but stuff it has, for me, outweighs the negatives. I loved the exp system, the spectacle of the battles, the number of available Pokemon ince you hit the Wild Area due tk how the raid dens work (great for monotype runs). Room for improvement, but were solid for me. BDSP: imo, probaboy could've been best served adjusting the map layout somewhat? But kinda like with SwSh, the QoLs it had actually alleviated some gen 4 issues and I did enjoy my playthrough. Biggest issue is lack of accessible EV training early (not necessarily new to the series) since the gyms and E4 had access to EVs and items you can't really touch until postgame. Probably the way I'll play Sinnoh from now on (sorry, but it's true). Legends: not my cup of tea, as the focus left me kinda bored (especially with tasks feeling grindy). My thing is more for battles, not catching. But I'm really happy for those that loved it. SV...probably my weakest. It made good steps forward in some battle access with items and such (consumable items not being only one battle is a fabulous QoL that needs to stay), but also took some steps back. I don't care for open world, but I feel like this needed to go further like you said, or dial it back in terms of having no order of challenges.

Amazing story? Did we play the same game?
That's also my biggest problem with the Dexit :/

Another good timing posting this video lol.
They did?!
They totally could have done dlc for 3ds technically dsi too
Yeah no my least favorite will never be bdsp when red/blue, og diamond/pearl, gold/silver, yellow, ruby/Sapphire, and the Let's go games exist
They need to quit BSing and bring ruby sapphire emerald as well as fire red and leaf green

The performance issue in SV are phenomenal. And they just ignored it and go to develop next game.

My take on the mainline games on Switch is:
They all have potential and are fun, but were sadly rushed (exept Let's Go, which is pretty polished and is more like a gameplay opinion that I would have loved the option to battle wild Pokemon and not just be able to capture them and also more postgame content would have been great, but the game looks pretty nice ^^)
I had fun with all the games, but it's always just sad to think about how much better they could have been if they weren't rushed ._."
The Spinoffs PMD DX and new Snap were both great ^^
They need better direction with the franchise in general. They should keep the core elements and identity of the games we grew up on, and implement unique gameplay mechanics that other games have had success with. Some games that come to mind are Monster Hunter, Botw, etc
Let’s go was goated , watchu mean. It was a cool play through with a cool concept
Sword and Shield are one of my favorites in the series. Too easy but other than that solid all the way around and that DLC was so sick!!!

Yes. They are. End of the discussion.
Legends is by far the best on the switch and deserved so much more content also is probably one of the best pokemon games ever
They gave the mainline ones DLC, I wish they would have for this title
Sword, and Arceus are pretty solid 😊 havent tried Scarlet yet
Legends Arceus is pretty cool, but the switch is not powerfull enough and the performance is lacking
I think they should just split the games. Release remakes as let's go titles and make them easy for younger players and keep the mainline games at least a bit challenging.
Despite the major downgrade. I think Pok'emon did okay on the switch.
Still could have been better and left a lot to be desired.

I did enjoy legends arceus, i liked the mechanics of open world and seeing the pokemon you want to catch. The battles have no loading time and you can run around the pokemon while they fight. I thought it was a very good game. Way different but good.
I think being able to get that DLC on physical media would have been preferred.
Sun and moon onwards haven’t felt like good games to me I’m 37 now that might have a impact as I feel the new games hold your hand and I don’t like it
Back then, Pokemon games were finished.
Like Wingull who looks exactly like he did in gen 6 still
Fell off since sun/moon
Underrated comment

@@chri6438 nah but sun and moon is good.
Ending the history of only being on handhelds is dumb.
More like Gen 5. Sun/Moon was a linear, handholding mess.
Relax.
No it’s not pointless, it’s so that they can add Pokémon back in the DLCs so people buy them!!!
@@NA1c158
That's like the worse argument ever.
@@NA1c158 I litterly said in my comment that it's the higher ups fault for making them rush the game ^^"
Still that doesn't excuse a rushed game, of course the solution wouldn't be for the programmers and designers to work even longer and more hours, but for the gamerealse to be delayed.
And they outsold Gold & Silver making them 2nd best selling games in the series XD
Funny thing is SV is dangerously close to outselling them.
Longer development+ broader horizons+passion= success.
hopefully for the next generation console that they have something planned for a good pokémon game
Nope, they may have flaws, but I’ve enjoyed playing all Pokémon games on switch including BDSP.
SwSh is over hated, SwSh has great music, & I both of the DLC were very good.
I agree i loved those games :D
You wre right i restarted the game nowadays
I love sw&sh, dp, and legends arceus
The only thing i liked about sword and shield was the gym battles, that was peak. Legend of arceus with the breath of the wild treatment would have been my dream, but instead it looks bad and boring, but i liked it. I played let's go pikachu for the nostalgia, it was great, but the GO catching mechanics are horrible. Bought Violet a few days ago for 30 bucks, not to hyped from what i've seen. (pokemon transforming into bykes like a digimon is dumb). But i'll still play it.
Just get what ever you want and ignore the haters tbh
I agree :D
They're shit compared to the ds and games before I find it bland
Maybe clicked the wrong video. I thought I was watching from a pokemon channel but instead a pokemon hater.
Yes, it is (sadly)
pokémon quest: pretty interesting game for mobile the big issue is the insane farm in the end.
It's not bad. It's WORST. Except Arceus, it's... well it's just good, i mean, if you havent played others JRPG, it is.
