I can’t ever think of a time a team went from being a title contender to being in tank mode in a matter of days in the middle of the season.
You know that the NBA isn’t just “have superstars or tank” right?
Nets have a solid roster. Finish the season and try to make the playoffs then spend cap in the off season.

While this kd era was more of the players fault as brooklyn stayed patient with kd rehabbing 1 year and then tolerating kyrie's antics. Front office even gave them a big 3 by getting james harden, what did kyrie do? Miss games which pissed harden. While KD didnt even bother to knock some sense to kyrie... A lot of what ifs with this team...

this is actually surprising, the suns didn't have to let go of ayton or cp3 in this deal which is crazy, brooklyn isn't a win now team they just really want to stick it to the lakera by not trading kyrie to them lol, the west just got way way deeper now.

I feel like the Nets got back a good amount. As a casual Nets fan since the early 90s it seemed Nets did talk to KD as he wanted to go to the Suns back in the off season. The west just really got interesting! Now it is time for me to see Cam Thomas drop 40s and Ben sitting on the bench. At least Barclays tickets will be cheaper
I really like what we got back, we can kinda build on these younger guys with a fair amount of draft compensation. We have like 10 people who can play starting spots on most teams

If Pheonix is active in whatever buy-out market that exists, this is a great deal. Yeah they gave up 2 great young pieces and 4 picks is a lot but, it is also less picks than Gobert so theres that. Id like to see CP3 contend one last time and KD is by far the best player hes played with, so this should be interesting. At least Brooklyn is free from all drama going forward and thats at least nice to see. If Pheonix can pick up 1 or 2 more bench or depth guys, theyll be locked for deep run expectations. The problem with the Suns is going to be the same as LAL, Team Defence when the 2 weakest defenders get attacked. Can you see Booker playing lockdown D for an entire playoff run? Because that’s what they need from him now, on top of ~25pts a night when he’s chasing Steph or Ja around the court.

Giving the suns an A is a little ridiculous. We jsut saw the harden, kyrie and kd trio implode due to age and that group was far more talented. Also I dont see how they're better than denver, boston and maybe even milwaukee

You get one of the best scorer that’s a good defender and playmaker that puts you over a lot of teams star power alone

Good deal by the Brooklyn Nets, getting out from that seismic salary commitment to Durant. I'm putting in my sell position early on the Suns. Durant is like a high mileage Porsche. This deal is typical of a new owner wanting to make a big splash as he comes into the league.
If they win the title this year no one is going to care if in 3 years Durant is injured all year and is nothing more than a bloated expiring contract. Banners hang forever.
top 10 players earn their seismic contracts which is still pretty invaluable. Any fan can delude themselves that KD contract is flippable for 2-3 other guys with one whose a baseline all-nba level. But KD in the right situation gives you a chance in the playoffs and ultimately, the Finals. The Lakers got AD at the cost of winning a chip in 2020. Meanwhile the Pelicans have till the mid/late 2020s to show what Zion and those high picks can come close to the cost of a banner.
I feel like it’s underwhelming, they didn’t even get an All-Star back for a KD who still had 3 more years on his contract

Not only did the Phoenix Suns not trade Ayton or CP3, they get a HOF in Kevin Durant, they also get TJ Warren (which we all know what he's capable of), who is a replacement for Cam Johnson. This move was a W for the suns, excited to see them play.
They still have assets to get more defense. A good 2 way player would be useful. Someone that plays defense.

I don't think the Nets got fleeced here, actually very far from that. They got two starting caliber players, one with all star potential, as well as four unprotected 1sts and a swap. This could very easily be v2.0 of the Paul Pierce trade of 2013 for Phoenix, as CP3 will likely be retired by 2025 and KD will also likely be rotting by then. Plus I doubt KD would have gotten the Nets a better package than this one, if they couldn't get a good package last season why think they would've done any better now.
The Nets have a fun team that could probably still make the playoffs. Most of their guys are young and they have plenty of assets unlike the fallout from the KG + Pierce trade. The future is bright.

I think the Nets did good this reminds me just a little bit of when the Nets traded for pierce and KG to me KD is always hurt and he couldn't get the Nets over the Celtics or bucks and Kyrie was leaving anyway so getting value before its to late was a smart move
Most of us here in Phoenix are really bummed that we lost the twins. The sacrifice for that chip. Being a Nets fan I really hope you enjoy them as much as we have here in Phoenix 💜🧡☄️

I think the Nets plan to make Cam Thomas the no. 1 option. They can trade Crowder for a sixth man guard or back up center. They can target the jazz and a third team to get Clarkson or Olynyk. The third team can get Crowder. They can still contend in the playoffs since they don't have their pick. This could be the return of the 2018-2019 Nets. Ironically Dinwiddie is back.
I could see the Bucks being this third team as they're chasing Crowder. But what of Milwaukee's assets would be of interest of either Utah or Brooklyn?

The Nets probably do make the playoffs with this new roster, albeit a few games over .500 (42-44 wins), and barely over the Knicks as a 6 seed.

No one had the suns coming out the west. CP0 “playoff” choker , ayton is soft , Booker is a regular season guy. Those are all things people say but soon as Kd gets there people call him a bus rider like I don’t understand and please don’t give me that “the suns were a 1 seed” we’ve seen plenty of 1 seeds not win a championship. Kd’s BROOKLYN tenure was a failure but he’s most definitely not a bus rider he’s the best player on a 5th seed team that had a epic collapse last year. Cool Brooklyn did what LA doesn't have sense or guts to do with these aging stars and we sure don't miss Harden's played out style here in H-town. This seems like to all these old stars have got like a season are two to actually consider being worth anything for a title. The real is the next generation is here strong and driven way more than the past hand holding cup cakes that have been in the spot light for too long now. These are the last chances for like all of these wore outs. Just watch how the media turns so easyly , it's already happening. Very entertaining.....

They may as well put all their chips on the table. They have second round picks and some players that they could move to get some wing defenders. Might as well empty everything. The defense isn't good enough so get some defenders.
