This is like saying the Nets won the Pierce & KG trade back in 2013. KD is 34 and injury prone. He likely won't be playing anymore in 3.5 years. The Suns threw away their entire future. The Nets made out like bandits. EASILY.

I would agree with this take more if Durant was younger. Durant is 34 and riddled with injuries. Sleeping on mikal bridges and cam Johnson. Bridges alone is worth 3 first round picks. So the nets basically got 9 first round picks for Durant. That’s a win for them

Apparently the grizzlies immediately offered 4 firsts for mikal after the trade but the nets wanted a young player. I think that offer will still be on the table, they got the most they coulda for kd

I’m not overly upset about it, it would have been nice to get Ayton in the trade but at the same time he’s not the best personality to have on your team. From the start of the season up till this trade i had no confidence that we could make it out of the east, so i think getting future value is more important than watching this year play out the same as last year did

The reason they didn’t get much back is because he requested a trade specifically to Phoenix and it was a private trade request so the nets were doing everything they could to get a trade even if that means not getting much back

@@KBben244 he went to the nets front office and specifically requested a trade to the suns after kyrie got traded. He made it a private trade request because he didn’t want a bidding war. They worked on a deal with only the suns. He wanted to go to Phoenix so the nets rushed and got a deal done, they could’ve got more if it was a normal request but since it was a request to a certain team, that’s what they got

@@ihaveadream3321they got a great young team in the future it will be the suns who got "fleeced" because of this trade, nets are future title contenders, got great young talent, perfect defense, a lot of future all stars such as bridges claxton cam thomas, maybe dinwidee and etc.
It was a bad trade for both sides because KD will either retire unhappy with the suns because Chris Paul, devin Booker and De Andre Ayton are all moody and could even go to a different team before he retires

Idk, I think KD, w/ his recent injury history and age, was traded for about his worth. yeah, the Nets probably would've gotten a bigger package in the off-season, but it's not a fleece at all
I love Bridges but I think the nets should have accepted the offer for 4 firsts for Mikal. It would have meant they got 8 firsts and a rotational guy for KD
I think you might need to spend sometime looking at the history of the nba. Kd is almost 35, CP3 will be 38 this yr. The suns window could literally open and close within a yr. This current suns team has holes in defense and depth and historically speaking superteams usually take a yr to mesh. Other than the celtics in 2008 and the warriors in 2017 most of these teams dont win immediately once they're formed and they all have short windows. So realistically the suns make a deep playoff run barring any injuries and lose in the 2nd round or the WCF. Rolling it into next season they'll have an even older kd and cp3 who are both injury prone and will have to play significant mins to get thru the season. It's a very risky trade considering the age of two of the main players in the core and it could comeback to haunt them if they dont win a title.
I completely agree with you. I feel like the Suns are trying to force their championship window open, even though they should really blow it up. KD will definitely help them do damage in the playoffs, but I don’t think this is the best decision for the suns in the long run.

Everyone agrees universally Gobert went for absolutely way too much. Way too much…. But people still use it as some standard like the Nets got robbed on the KD deal because Rudy went for this/that - Wolves gave up way too much for Rudy and it needs to stop being used as the standard

This was a terrible trade for the Nets. The Nets need to be good. They don't control their own draft pick until 2028. If they want to make a trade, the only real assets they have are the Suns picks in 27 and 29.
So either they stuck with a roster that is bad a give high draft picks to the Rockets or they can make a trade and try to be good only to give up those Suns picks. They are screwed.
nets won this deal for me. KD is getting old and with the players with the nets bridges and cam J. are good pieces. they can compete this year in the playoffs and they can even get another star for those 4 picks next yr. watchout for derozan or lavine to nets

I hate how people are saying the suns finessed them by keeping Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton. The Nets didn’t want Chris Paul or Aytons contracts. If the suns offered Ayton or CP3 the Nets wouldve declined.
