I'm in construction management in America where we have large amounts of concrete plants and metal supply companies. Aint no way in a million years you can build all those large structures in 4 years. It took 12 hour days 6 days a week with night crews for pours and finish work, just to build a 19 story mid rise in 16 months. Aint no way brother.

OK, I'm no architect, nor am I an infrastructure expert, but right off the bat looking at this, I can see that by the time the ambulance arrives in the "village district" from the "health district", the man would have already been dead. The same is with the fire department district. You can't divide all things by districts and shove them together. That's horrible! Kids will travel every day through the whole city to get to the school district where all schools are shoved together. Who would want to live like this? Are you out of your mind?

The difference between you loaning from your local bank to buy a house, and loaning from China to build infrastructure, is that your local bank is not a foreign entity and thus it's also subject to your country's laws and regulations. Whereas, China is indeed a foreign entity and would demand that any land or asset taken by them are subject to Chinese laws and regulations -- essentially taking over a piece of your country.

As someone who studied City Planning, the Akon city barely even functions as a concept on paper. Bunching up of facilities in a city is the worst thing any city can do. Also the building and their structures are very improbable and will likely, reflect sun rays in the area he wants to build it. Like how a skyscraper in London ended up melting cars just by reflection.

As a Nigerian, as soon as I heard Akon announce his plans of building a city, I immediately knew it was one of two things: - an impending grift (like such projects usually are) - a doomed and bizarrely wild misconception of what he's talking about.
I was born in Zambia, I have first hand experience with the Chinese in Africa. Zambia is known for copper mines and national parks. The Chinese influenced the government to sell of national parks land to build strip mines. Because of widespread protest against this they had to backoff. But wherever the Chinese have built something, they have forcefully taken the country's assets and natural resources. This is modern colonisation.
This is communism at its finest. Sounds great on paper but never really works the way it's said to. They control literally everything all the while you think you're free and equal to your neighbors but aren't.

We called this years ago on his interview with VladTV. He’s essentially doing what a lot of African leaders do. 1. Borrow money from China (or other country) to invest in projects. 2. Pocket the money and don’t deliver on the projects. 3. China eventually comes to recoup the money they loaned. 4. And when the money can’t be paid back China now owns the assets. But it doesn’t matter to Akon because in his head “Senegal would fail anyway so I might as well take care of myself and family while I’m here.” Truly wicked guy.
Im an architect student and the designs for Akon City make no sense, the buildings are wayyyy too "advanced" to be able to be supplied by electricity or even utilities. So much so I wonder how the interior would even work. Its so unrealistic and flat out laughable

I'm in construction management in America where we have large amounts of concrete plants and metal supply companies. Aint no way in a million years you can build all those large structures in 4 years. It took 12 hour days 6 days a week with night crews for pours and finish work, just to build a 19 story mid rise in 16 months. Aint no way brother.

I was born in Zambia, I have first hand experience with the Chinese in Africa. Zambia is known for copper mines and national parks. The Chinese influenced the government to sell of national parks land to build strip mines. Because of widespread protest against this they had to backoff. But wherever the Chinese have built something, they have forcefully taken the country's assets and natural resources. This is modern colonisation.
This is communism at its finest. Sounds great on paper but never really works the way it's said to. They control literally everything all the while you think you're free and equal to your neighbors but aren't.
But the natives of that land is too focus on other things. They can unite amd get this done together

The sad thing is, many will only see it as colonization when it's too late. Hating the west for their past greed makes some blind for present exploitation done by others. Russia and China are constantly working on getting more grip on African nations, with China leaving Russia way behind and already being dominant in many regions. It is Pandora's box for these Nations and many are still blind to what's happening. It's truly sad because most of us wish for a better future for the African continent, free of foreign exploitation. China wishes to BE the exploitation. And still, it seems, that many African nations don't really have other options than sticking with China. I mean, they do it cheap. In the short term it is Win Win.
We called this years ago on his interview with VladTV. He’s essentially doing what a lot of African leaders do.
1. Borrow money from China (or other country) to invest in projects.
2. Pocket the money and don’t deliver on the projects.
3. China eventually comes to recoup the money they loaned.
4. And when the money can’t be paid back China now owns the assets.
But it doesn’t matter to Akon because in his head “Senegal would fail anyway so I might as well take care of myself and family while I’m here.”

Im an architect student and the designs for Akon City make no sense, the buildings are wayyyy too "advanced" to be able to be supplied by electricity or even utilities. So much so I wonder how the interior would even work. Its so unrealistic and flat out laughable

Should be noted, the Chinese are extremely interested in rare earth minerals in Africa. That's why they want control of land there.
Their plan is to get countries into debt under the belt and road scheme and then bankrupt them.
Then demand their land, resources..etc as repayment.
I never understood why this wasn't brought up. The buildings mean nothing. They want the rare earth minerals long term. In the whole world there's about 2 million fatalities yearly from air pollution alone, most of them in China and India. Meanwhile WHO reports 180,000 fatalities due to burns, so I also doubt the entire Senegal is burning out of control by kerosene lamps. Even Rome didn't burn that badly in 64 AD.
