  • Highlights of a recent trip I made near Tucson, Arizona to scout out some new BLM/State Trust Camp spots.
Cactus Forest is a great Fall, Winter and Spring camp spot just a few miles east of Red Rock, Arizona with room for about a dozen large campers/Rvs.

Just came across this video. I'm soon moving to Green Valley AZ. I like to go camping. Looks like a nice spot I could visit just about anytime. I do plan to go camping in CO WY and MT for like June July and Aug to get away from the heat for a while. But can't wait to leave the North East permanently and live in Green Valley most of the year, and go away June to Aug. Nice videos, your subs should grow. Honest content is appreciated.

@@Idratherliveinavan you will like Green Valley - Be sure to check out Madera Canyon it’s a short drive (30 minutes) east of there at about 5,000 ft it’s a pretty spot to camp in Fall and Spring! Thank you for watching!

@@HolidayForTwo42 Yes, already been there, I've been visiting the area a couple of time a year for 20+ years now. Mt Lemon nice too, have caught some small trout in Rose Canyon, nice little pay campground up there too.

You must have overshot Cattle Tank rd. going east and did a u-turn. That is The only way you could have turned left and go south on Cattle Tank rd.

Good eye, That’s exactly what happened - lol, I was distracted for a second between checking my map app, film and watch the road! I was also surprised by the amount of desert growth out there - it was very green and pretty from all the rains.

Thanks, I was just about to mention that error - if driving eastward, taking a left onto Cattle Tank Rd. would have been heading north, not south...

Good find. I would have to pass on that campground only because my dog would be attacked by every cactus plant.

Yeah you would really have to keep an eye on them around those Chollas, but pretty area 😉

I've never done it, but is Arizona/New Mexico desert camping in the summer doable with a good AC system for the daytime temperatures?

I’ve seen people camping in the low desert areas out in the summer here in RVs but ugh, I don’t know how they do it - last summer was brutal especially in lower desert areas. For me, I’d try to find place a little higher in elevation (5000 ft or higher) if possible especially June - August unless you have good AC and reliable power supply. There are many high desert camping areas above 5000 ft in Arizona and New Mexico.
