Let me ask Pranesh to do some research and get back to you. For the filling it may be possible to use custard powder and make a custard filling- so it becomes a custard tart. However I’m not sure for the pastry base.
Hello I normally make mine eggless so I hope you don’t mind me sharing here. Just add a few drops of ice water to bind the dough. Or you can make a eggless biscuit dough. Pre bake your shell then add the milk tart filling and refrigerate it for a few hours.

I have never made a milk tart , and a custard tart , which I am assuming is the English equivalent sounds dreary. So I am going to give it a go. By cake flour do you mean plain or self- raising flour? Thank you and sorry for the silly question - but for me it is unclear. I make my cakes with self easing flour, but some cakes use plain flour and you add your own rising agents!!!!
@@joycevanloggenberg1284 the filling sets very quick. Did the filling perhaps cool too much? Could also be that it was left too long to thicken on the stove perhaps. You need to get it off the stove as soon as it starts to thicken up. May take some practice to get it it right…

We used plain flour and added in the baking powder. It’s always great to clarify and we should have been more clear.
