You talked about Greg Leisz. It would be awesome if you could get him to do an interview. Thanks for doing this for all us steel guitar players/fans Russ!

Russ.. I dig your channel so much... I know everyone has their own heroes on the instrument, but want to mention two friends, both gone. Tom Morrell and Maurice "Reese" Anderson were my distant friends. I talked to Tom shortly before he left us. He told me something he did that only Tom could or would do. When he recorded with Johnny and Jerry Case in Ft. Worth in 1972, he had his inside six strings tuned to standard guitar tuning. Let that sink in.. He played so many killer jazz chords on that set it's like Buddy on steroids. Maurice was the nicest guy in the world. I still have one of his letters...so helpful even over the phone giving me tips on how to start on Pedal. He was great on Lap too. Sorely miss both of those fine artists.

I've never been a fan of steel guitar. Saw Eddy play with Vince Gill at the Ryman a couple of weeks ago and my mentality was changed, what a great player. Good wake up call!

This is great! I only just discovered it, showing up on UA-cam. First I have heard of the Council. There was a lot of information and ideas, yet it was spoiled by so much jargon, without explanation, so totally lost on me. Very frustrating. To sum up, there is too much 'inhouse jargon'. So, closed to all who want to learn more...... I'm hoping these words help. Thank you

Thanks Russ and Eddy. I seen Eddy in his early days at Mt Vernon and other Illinois venues by Bobby Reed. Always a joy to see and hear. He is a serious dedicated player that doesn't stop learning. Great review.

I love this project, but I think there needs to be an injection of pessimism. Why ISNT the steel more popular? To players and listeners? Where has the instrument struggled to find a place? What about the build and the mechanics is dated and more easily remedied with new technology? How does this set-up struggle to fit into the future of music making (more and more young brilliant solo producers on laptops)?
Love your stuff Russ, but there are many hard questions that might deserve more spotlight than gear talk or nostalgia. Excited to see what's next. ❤
