Chris Scruggs should do a lap steel method course. There is very few resources for lap steel beyond 6 string c6.

Hi Paul, search the internet for Scotty's Music in St. Louis, MO.
They still have and sell Jerry Byrd's entire instructional course, including all of his personal transcriptions of hundreds of songs.
The Jerry Byrd Instructional Method, and the many transcriptions cover MANY different tunings.
      So you can start there.
      Enjoy!

I started on Hawaiian guitar, but switched to guitar because of lack of educational material.

I’ve known Chris for over 20 years from working at a guitar shop on Broadway in Nashville. Scruggs knows as much as anyone does about the history of country music and Nashville music and the same about the instruments and people that made it..he’s wise beyond his years and he’s unassuming and pleasant to listen to when he talks about it..and his playing is just as rich and deep.
Chris is a gem of a human.

I went to a honkey tonk, couldn’t find much good much, then found the old timers with Chris playing, and it changed my life. He’s truly stunning on his instrument. So much history in his musical mind.

Thank you for this. Chris is a national treasure. There's really no expressing how much I wish I could be a fly on the wall of the Fabulous Superlatives tour bus.

Chris is a font of knowledge and a hell of a nice guy. Had the pleasure of seeing him play with his band a couple times. Great when amazingly talented people are also amazing people

The history and knowledge Chis has about Nashville, Country Music, players, instruments, theory, technique, you would think he's a hundred years old and not a 30 something kid. Unbelievable. I could listen to him prattle on for days.

This is a very good video. Chris Scruggs know an awful lot about steel guitars and country music. And Russ Pahl is a good interviewer who let his guest speak, instead of speaking about himself.

Really enjoyed the interview with Chris. He has been fortunate to be mentored by the cream of the crop of non pedal steel guitar players. I heard him in Springfield, MO on pedal steel. He did a great job. Don Helms and I were friends and Chris is definitely in his class. He has a great future ahead.
