True, my aunt is one of those. Even today, she still likes to act like a perfect housewife and just loves to tell my mother how much she cooks and knits and shit, meanwhile her food tastes like crap because she doesn’t actually care to follow the recipe, her husband left her because she wouldn’t even let him spend his own damn money if she deemed what he was buying useless or pompous and two of her sons have mental health issues because she would heavily police everything they did and ate and the only reason the third one is doing fine is because he is a rebel by nature and knew to go behind her back from an early age. And with her attitude, I don’t even want to imagine what she would have done if she had any daughters.
I pray for Abby‘s children already, for they’re gonna have it even worse than that.

Well, historically, they are. They used to be worker's clothes. Pants didn't find their way into women's fashion pretty much until Marlene Dietrich made them sexy and popular. Say 150 years ago wearing two-legged trousers as a woman was just not a thing (at least in Europe, but it was probably the same for Northern America and Australia). Completely unheard of. Up until the 1940-ies and 50-ies women were expected to wear long skirts or dresses.
Nowadays, nobody who isn't a religious fundamentalist thinks wearing jeans is masculine in any way, of course..

So I’m married, and I am a stay-at-home mom with my two kids. But EVEN THEN, my husband and I are never just “waiting around” for each other. We both have our own interests and things going on. We are a great team, and we love each other, and we love our kids, but we would NEVER talk about each other like Abby talks about her husband. Even when I am technically home all day, I’m never just waiting around for my husband like a 1950’s housewife because that’s not healthy.

I was backpacking, so I had limited clothing, most of it probably dirty because I hardly had the chance to wash anything. No make up, nothing fancy. We met in a pub. I probably got drunk that night. We definitely had an immediate connection and I promise it wasn’t because I looked modest and put together. Also against her rules, I think we consummated our lust on date two. We’ll be married 18 years in December. 😆

As a previously-religious person, whenever someone describes something as "Godly" (as Abby does, about each partner LIVING for one another, or about other things) I get the creeps. You shouldn't presume to describe your ideas or feelings as compared to the divine. Like, how would she know. Is she a prophet that is being spoken through? Does the Lord call her at her house? It's arrogant and really weird

Countless times I've seen in the Bible that you're not supposed to compare yourself to God and comparing what you do to Godliness is almost sinful and very prideful lmao.
