howl.me/ckUmjL... Here is my unboxing and first look at the Lenovo Legion Go portable PC gaming console that aims to conquer the Asus ROG Ally and Steam Deck. -TDD
I like all your talking points, you did a good job. I've watched several of these kind of videos and I think your explanations and rationale was the best. Keep up the good work. I get my Legion Go tomorrow Im hyped!
The Steam Deck wasn't the first by a long shot. The transformative part of the Steam Deck was that they hit the price they did. AyaNeo and GPD have been making these machines for years. The Steam Deck brought them to the masses. The Lenovo is only following in the footsteps of the Steam Deck in targeting the new price ceiling that the Steam Deck pioneered. If you haven't been following the market it's easy to miss what makes these devices significant but it's not their existence...it's their price and to a lesser degree their performance.
@@TheDigitalDigest I was more referring to handheld gaming PCs specifically, not UMPCs which are kind of a different class of machines IMO (like the old Sony Vaio UMPCs). That said, the Vaio models had the same problem of high prices hindering their adoption.
what do you mean? rog ally and legion go are identical in price. what made Steam Deck special is that nothing actually comes close to their dirt cheap pricing as they are selling at a loss.
@@JerwinAngelo I mean even the top spec Steam Deck was way cheaper than the competition when it released. AyaNeo, GPD and all the other competitors in this space were selling handheld gaming PCs that started around $1000-1100 and went up from there. I bought the 512GB Steam Deck because it was a bargain compared to everything else on the market, even at its price. That people think that a $700 handheld PC is normal IS the huge accomplishment of the Steam Deck. They used to cost far more and a lot of people that weren't shopping them before the Steam Deck don't realize that.
I picked up the Legion Go lastnight, just waiting for it to arrive. Great review bro! I was going to get the Nintendo Switch because it has the same design with the controllers as well as the game library, but the Switch is very outdated and doesn't run modern Windows. Second choice was the latest Steam Deck. I opted out of the SD and the Ally because the controllers aren't removable. Besides, I can use the Go's tablet as a 'big-screen' TV/PC for my daughter's Barbie dollhouse.
I'm enjoying the 1st impressions, hopefully it lives up to all expectations within the performance and the UI. On a side note unrelated, hope you get better soon from your surgery recovery.
As for me and many others... We are enjoying your fresh take content... Awesome as always... The Legion Go= MS. Surface Pro Kickstand... Nintendo Switch Joy Con +... ROG ALLY performances +... Steam Deck packaging +... AYANEO GEEK form factor +... This Awesome Product should have Stylus support too.... Maybe on the next alterations or a lesser compact package... It's a big cake of industry... Anyone can have one or two slices... 👌👌👌🤯👀🧐🤔🤓... By the way, Take a look at the Android side of Handheld too... AYN Odin 2 is out... with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in the Samsung S23 phone... AYANEO Pocket Air... and soon Pocket S...
I mounted my steam deck on a monitor stand using deckmate. Legion go can also be mounted using tablet mount on to your desk. I think it need to floating onto your desk rather than sitting to prevent water spill.
Love mine. It's the everything portable. And the FPS mode is legit. I just wish Emudeck was as fully featured as the Steamdeck version. But I guess that's what my Steamdeck is for.
The Trackpad has protective film, BUT THE SCREEN DOESN'T?!? So they just basically build it and throw it inside of a box?!? I just returned mine because i thought they gave me a used or refurbished one. My S24 & Watch 6 i had to peel off temporary screen protector & packaged way better than this.
What do you think about the thumb sticks? I was really disappointed with the rog allys thumb sticks being so loose and flimsy feeling. I know these are Hall effect, but I'm more specifically talking about the tension. How do you feel they compared to the steam deck, the ally, or even a traditional Xbox or PS5 controller?
Order mines on the 26th thinking I would get it by the 1st ups and Best Buy says its coming on the 7th I’m like i was told the first but ok kind of pissed but got the 1gb version and i have a 1gb so card ready for add on
Legion go, has better cooling and edges out in performance over the rog. Rog has too many defective units bro, legion go is also bigger and has more features to it
Wasnt satisfied with the steam deck when I heard about this lt caught my attention . It has Windows 11, which is great for my extracting files and doing some mods. The design looks better than the steam deck and sleeker.
Actually its not the first. The Onexplayer 2/2 pro already has a detachable controller and has its own keyboard/touchpad. This one should come with a keyboard to be a full system.
The increased ram and larger battery make the legion go have better performance than the Ally, additionally you can use any E-GPU on the Legion, Ally only supports their 2 over priced GPU's
I’m wondering if 800p looks good still. In theory it should look somewhat native since it’s exactly half the native resolution of that screen. Is size an issue at that resolution?
I preorder mine about 2 weeks ago and it’s saying that would be at my home in mid November And I called BB and they said that they don’t have them in stock till further notice
Just wait for the open boxes... I will be receiving mine tomorrow but I'm already thinking about returning it just because of the recent reviews I've seen so far...
@@oscaspunkja all the review I have seen are amazing no complaints about it cons I saw was the battery and no vrr But with that 8.8 inch 144hz u can't even notice the difference

I wish it was from gaming!

I've been following umpc's for over 20 years. I said the SD was the first successful offering in the space.

Great unboxing and info, ty ❤
Needs a 100w home dock with big cooling fan. Have a 50walt mode or something.

What is better to buy? ASUS ROG ALLY or LENOVO LEGION GO, please? I've heard this Lenovo has a loud fan noise.
Legion go, has better cooling and edges out in performance over the rog. Rog has too many defective units bro, legion go is also bigger and has more features to it
@@Sutekhson-ol9jj i bought ALLY. I think this one is better for me. I dont wanna hold a huge device.
@@ebombermusic that’s fair. It’s not that big to be honest, you can also set it down and use it detached, it’s versatile in terms of use
Hope you recover quickly 👍

Using integer scaling enable should look good

@@oscaspunkja I think will do the same. Open boxes can go as low as $600 or even lower. The ROG Ally it's going for $520 open box.
Are you on a ship? :P
Crowning this machine before even using it. Interesting.
I repeatedly stated that as long as it performs as expected, it will be the most dynamic product of its kind.
@@TheDigitalDigest which is true!
Welcome to UA-cam
Apparently the portrait display they used is going to cause some games to be unplayable ☹️ I still bought it though lol
They can fix that with updates with no problem
@@i_Like_Goya I hope your right. One guy on Twitter who seems more informed than me on the subject seems to think the games would have to be patched.
Most handhelds use portrait display including steam deck. ROg ally is the only with landscape
Most likely modders when they get their hands on it will fix things that should been fixed at launch. Like they did adding 900p to the Ally.
Mmm seems like a sidegrade to the ROG Ally...ill wait until a much more powerful processor releases in the same price range.
not sure if the controllers being detachable makes it the first console pc lol thats a funny take
This thing at 900p would chew through games at medium settings.
catastrophic audio compared to the Dolby Atmos of the rog ally
It’s not any different to be honest. I’ve used both
Hmmmm
The only way I would choose the ROG ally over this is if the ally dropped by $250 other wise not worth the purchase at this point
I cant believe Lenovo lied and said it was a native landscape display 😢 thats terrible 😞 i hate how companies can just straight up lie like that.
