It has gone mad. I'm English and it's scary here. Love Cowboy Kent and the lovely, kind American people. Travelled a lot in years gone by and the friendliest people I've met are the Americans and Turkish.
@@CowboyKentRollins Glad to hear that thank you so much! The community tab on UA-cam is very good for news, announcements, and pictures of whatever you want that goes out to all your viewers. 😊🙏
This is nuts! I ate yesterday at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant @ Mount Vernon, VA. I asked the waiter what would George Washington eat / his favorite foods. He recommended and I had Ho Cakes, Pan Bread, pan fried brown trout with succotash, and bread pudding for dessert. Ho cakes are wonderful / the whole meal was amazing. Now today, my favorite BBQ /food channel does ho cakes, made my day!
I grew up in Alabama. I was adopted when I was 10 and moved to Idaho. I have been looking for corn pancakes my whole life. These are them! 🎉 thank you!!!
My girls are learning their constitution right now, and this is the funnest way to keep their heads in the game but break up the seriousness at the same time. ❤
Mr Rollins, I’m from Massachusetts, and Johnnycakes are still made in the traditional way and no yeast was used way back then. Corn meal yellow or white but a finer milled grind, first mixed in hot water to soften the meal, plain flour, a tiny amount of sugar salt and milk. They aren’t cakey like pancakes but delicious with butter, syrup even molasses, honey or jam
14:40... Yeah, we all still miss "the Beag". Good to hear you mention him. I still shed a tear now and then for mine too. The Maj. look just like my own Mister Brinkley..... gone too soon he is as well. Looks like the Duke was expecting some Bacon...
My grandmother, a great southern lady who was born in 1908, made these for me when I was growing up. Haven't had them since the late 1960s. I'm going to have to make some now.
Not only do I enjoy the cooking but also the history lessons in your videos, Mr. Kent! I love the patriotism in your videos and always showing respect to our veterans! God bless Cowboy Kent and God bless America! 🇺🇸🤠
My mom made the yellow one for us growing up. She made these when we had ham and beans cabbage and sauerkraut. Never had them with syrup. I still eat them today great memories of my child hood.
Once again you open the historic portal as a cowboy chef to another portion of this country's history of one, if not the greatest, leaders this nation had. I love history and you added information I had not know,
I grew up less than 2 miles ( as the Crow fly’s ) from George and Martha’s Mt. Vernon Estate. I never heard this about the HoeCakes. Hope and praying that you’re healing from your recent losses. God Bless. BK
Dang Kent I learned more about history from u in just a few minutes than I did in school all year, lol!! Great video Shannon and Kent as always my friends!!! Till next time be safe god bless u both and your pups!!!🙏🙏🙏 I miss the beagle😢!!
I enjoy each episode as you highlight the traditions, which is what identifies a nation. In addition to the fact that you are not locked in a kitchen but are outdoors, it is something that I also enjoy a lot, not to mention the chicken dance. You are greatly appreciated Grandpa Kent. An effusive greeting from Venezuela. 😊
Sir, you're a culinary inspiration, educator, and reminder to us Yanks living overseas that there are still good people back home worth fighting for. God bless from Tokyo!
Kent, thanks for such wonderful videos. Having MS among other health issues pretty much put me housebound this summer. These videos really helped as I like to cook, especially older recipes with history behind them. We have taken in over 52 cats since 2010. All were dumps, including five moms with their litters. That sad, I love children ande animals being close to them all. When they die, a piece of me dies with them. That said, my deepest sympathies and prayers to you over the loss of you caninebuddy. Blessings, Bill
i alway love learning more about our Founding Fathers! I remember reading about the French dentist in one of his biographies. I've been to Mt. Vernon, Monticello, Franklin's House, Independence Hall, Boston City Hall, the Green Dragon Tavern, Washington's Crossing, Battle of Trenton, ...WOW Then it was Civil War stuff! also moving.
My Pancake batter consists of, While Lily Self Rising Flour and Sweet Milk! Mix together and cook in a tad of Lard in a Iron Skillet until a Crispy Golden Brown! It's even better if you fry up some Fatback and use the grease from it to cook them in! Sop it up with some Sorghum Syrup! That's all you need! It's the best Pancakes ever! That's the way my Mama always done it here in Georgia! Best you ever tasted! I like mine cooked dark and crispy like! Yummy! I'm 68 yrs old and still make'em like this! So dad-gum good! God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤🔥🔥🇺🇸🇺🇸
It is always a joy to hear you guys do your thing love hearing Shan's voice like to see more of her in your videos she is as you would say probably the better half of what you've got it's always fun to hear you and it's always fun to watch you I really enjoyed the episodes that you did with the h family that was terrific keep doing what you do God bless you and keep you both 🤠🥰😎🤠
The little happy dance ya did after tasting made me smile ear to ear. I do a happy dance when food is good too! My granny use to make the yellow corn meal ones and we just called them fried cornbread. I have so many memories setting on my pappy's lap eat them with honey butter slathered on top. I miss them so much but thank you for this walk down memory lane! I always enjoy your videos!
Don't thank us, we thank you! I never miss your cookin' "lessons", I learn something new each time. And I really like the history of food and cooking methods you show us. Yes the Beag is missed. Add cream corn to one of those mixtures Mmmmmmm Thanks for your videos always enjoy the company and your great cooking / recipes.
Kent, you bring back so many wonderful memories of growing up in SC in the 50"s. I consumed many a hoe cake on my grandmother's back porch that was cooked on a wood burning stove! Thank you my friend............Old Coot!
I do enjoy seeing you cook and all the pups butI do miss the beg. We had to take our little Molly to the vet as she has a collapsing Treak. we came close to losing her so I will keep You and Shaon in my thoughts and and prays I also enjoy all of your vidios.
Thank you Kent. And God Bless George Washington! I grew up on fried corn bread which is not exactly the same. But can be served just like your two. I heard that George's meals, spice wise, would make any Mexican's eyes water with the heat. They put the hot Carribean peppers and Hot Hungarian peppers in almost everything from fish to cooked salads.
You lost your dog weeks ago, you’re house to a fire and you still have a positive additude , god I love this guy!!
A fun fact.
George Washington's favorite UA-cam channel was Cowboy Kent Rollins.
But it was Lincoln who turned him on to it! ^-^
