One thing I utterly love about Kent and Shannon, while the food is outstanding, their ability to be real, genuine and humble down to earth people is one of the reasons I been here so long. Stay classy.✊
My wife and I cook for youth camps. Nothing fancy but a lot of good food. One young girl said, "I know you love us because you feed us good." It could be a miserable cold, rainy camp but if the food good, hot and a lot of it, it was a great camp. Add this one to our next camp.
When Mom would drive all of us kids to town on a Saturday to visit Grandma she would regularly make this dish for us. GOOOOOD memories. Thank you Kent!!!
I'm a prep cook at a fine dining steakhouse in Bozeman,Montana. So I actually made homemade Chicken fried steak, mash potatoes with a white gravy, and stuffing last night for my bestfriends as his wife is pregnant and that's what she was craving and it gave him a break after coming home after being out in the weather with his job. Happy family and an amazing dinner that was so great.
That's some really good country cooking. Thanks to our veterans, and our troops for their services. Also thanks to our farmers and ranchers for helping to feed us. Cheers, Kent and Shannon! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Great classic. My 82 year old mother cooked this up for my three brothers and I yesterday. Had it with homemade flour tortillas! Thanks to The Almighty, she's still making memories. Thanks, Kent.
Now that dog will hunt one my favorite meals ever,, thank you Kent and Shan,, and the pups for being such great Americans and Christian people god bless
Oldtimers understand a thing or two. As with every generation, we wish the young ones would listen. Thank You ,Shannon and everyone else that makes what y'all do possible. Blessings upon Blessings.
These are always the most wholesome videos you’ll find on YT. I was watching his playlists during my stay in the hospital and it took away the heavy anxiety of my seizures. So I really appreciate your content, Cowboy. I am a chef; very new and young chef, so these are most helpful to me when I want to try to make a new recipe I’ve never had. Like most men I’m naturally a fantastic cook. Although, being a chef is a whole different level of talent. And you sir, have excellent talents.
Hi Mr Kent, you brought back a lot of memories with that. My mother would make that for us. I remember coming into the kitchen and Mom would tell us "we in high cotton tonight" we're have hamburger steak for dinner! Thanks for the big smile I got.. 🤠🇺🇲
Happy Valentines Day to You and Shannon! Also to all those pups. I love what you cooked today! Had that about a week ago! Y’all be safe. Watch where you’re stepping.
God bless you, Mr. Kent and Mrs. Shannon Rollins! I absolutely adore your videos, and do my best to recreate your recipes at home. You seem like real salt of the Earth folk. Thank you for honoring our Veterans, would you possibly consider endorsing our first responders as well?
Hamburg steak plays an important part of a couple of new/newish anime that I've enjoyed in this last year. "Frieren:Beyond Journey's End" and the show "Buddy Daddies".
Ain't nobody watchin' anime on this channel. I 'member Bugs, the roadrunner, and the koyote. They did the same thing every episode, then you went outside to play.
My great aunt Bevy made something like this; It was bone in pork chops, mushroom cream gravy, onions, and potato slices, baked in the oven after searing the chops. Stick to your ribs good
I love all of your videos because of how Shannon and the dogs are included along with the happy dance and salute to the military at the end of the cooking demonstration. I am hoping to try this recipe when we go on the trail this summer. I start every Saturday and Sunday morning watching on of your videos. Hoping to meet you folks someday. Paul
I Just want to say Happy Valentine's day to Shannon! She is a great Videographer and I personally Love hearing Her interjections During the Cooking Episodes. I also Love seeing the Old time Trail Hands....
Its 9am and I'm already wanting lunch now. You can't go wrong with a classic. Adding the onions into the meat is a new one for me, defiantly adding them next time. I love your positivity, the world needs more Cowboy KR in their lives. We all need to be more loving and caring of our neighbors. Also we need some t shirts or aprons with the puppers loaded in the classic car.
CKR is a national treasure. Aside from the food ALWAYS being on point, the man himself pretty much embodies 'salt of the earth'. So glad for all the good seasoning you add to our world, Mr Rawlins. Thank you!
i always heard it called "salisbury steak", and when mom made it, i stuffed myself. i still make it from time to time, smashed taters and some peas - pearl onions even better. when it's cold, or i'm a little down. Always hits the spot.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO KENT AND SHAN.... You are both very special people who are always loving and are kind to a fault .... You are a blessing in many peoples lives.... We love you both.... Doc.
@@sambarker5294 I do it over rice in south Texas. I was 24 years old when I found out rice and gravy wasn't one word. My dear ol' daddy was from Louisiana and rice was on our table way more often than mashed potatoes. I dearly love rice'n'gravy.
For all the progression we have made over the last couple of hundred years, i sometimes feel we have not progressed very far. That is a meal, basic and simple, the way we used to eat, Better than a lot of the " Modern Food " we have today. Thanks for sharing. 🥰🥰🥰
This would be perfect camp food for the 2024 elk hunt! God bless you Kent and Shannon! If I were to substitute ground elk or venison for the beef, would I need to make any adjustments to the rest of the recipe?
Loved that you shared an old classic meal. My Mom use to make this way back when. I use to make it to when my late hubby was alive. It was one of his favorites too. He liked it when I added sliced mushrooms to the dish. Always cooked in the iron skillet too. This is such a good recipe and thanks too for my rush of old memories.👍
My mom and dad used to make this often for us. Dad would take any deer he killed ground into all hamburger meat and mix it 50/50 with beef and him and mom would make us this. They used lots of black pepper though other than that very similar and served on mashed taters just like yours. Some biscuits and sliced maters on the side of course. Im gonna have to me me some this week and dine on it while watching reruns of the Rockford Files.
You outdid yourself on this recipe Mr. Rollins...I think I may have smelled this cooking from almost a hundred miles away! Be good and safe Mr. Rollins and keep the faith! 🙏🏼
Now Brother Kent, that is indeed a Genuine "Cadillac" version of the Blue Plate Special my Dear Grandmaw from Rush Springs, OK used to make at her Peak Cafe! Just found your channel and thank God I did , sadly the love of country has fallen in recent times but you give me hope that by you and others we can make people proud to be American and your food is a great start towards that God bless and can not wait to start cooking your recipes .
Recipe looks really delicious, but I have to say this is perhaps the best video I've seen on the channel in terms of production. Looks and sounds great.Well edited. Just some very nice work!
I love your show, my mother would prepare meals like this on the farm, harvest time there was 4 meals a day, My dad, myself my brother, my uncle and during bailing we had a hired hand. Great tasting food to get us through the day. Keep it up I absolutely love your show, I have been teaching my daughter some of these dishes, in fact she made a wonderful biscuit and gravy for me on fathers day.
Kent, this looks delicious. The only thing I would add is green peas. My mom made mashed potatoes, gravy, and green peas. After more than 40 years of marriage, my wife still thinks I am touched in the head for mixing them all together, but I've loved it my entire life. (My wife will eat mashed potatoes peas and gravy, but the gravy has to be only on the mashed potatoes and the peas must be separate! But I love her anyway, and apparently she puts up with me!)
I love everything about you. You’re love for life, dogs, people, cows, hardwork, the lord. I love you say prayers before eating and that you share your love with everyone. I love your carefree attitude and your corkyness. You are a dying breed. Thank you so much for sharing a piece of you with me. I truly appreciate you. God bless you and your family.
I saw a clever trick... take a cold pound of butter and scrape it with the bottom of a medium strainer. Tiny thin curls of butter from that fine wire and you won't grind up your fingernails!
I learned a HARD lesson the last time I made hamburger steak and gravy . I was out of Worcestershire and ran to the store to get some . All they had was some off brand but I figured it had to be the same. Not even CLOSE! It was a syrupy who-knows-what. So I stocked up on the Lee and Perrins to avoid this in the future .

Just made the Hamburger Steak and Gravy meal tonight. However, like you I'm older and my Dr. says I can have one 8 oz. Hamburger a week. My hamburger tonight was ground chicken instead of beef. Oh my, yummy. Thanks to you and Shannon I made good points with my hungry wife. God bless both of you.

Kent that looks amazing. I make mine pretty close to that but didn't know about the Parmesan. I'm trying to tomorrow for sure. I have a little tip for the people in the family who love mushrooms. If you want, you can saute half a pound of mushrooms along with those onions and add a can of Golden Mushroom soup to the mix. They'll love you for it. Thanks for another fantastic recipe and I hope that you and Shan and the barkers are all doing great.

I remember back when there were many good steakhouses and lots of country cooking here in Texas. Now there must be 40 franchise variations of skinned chicken breasts with rice. Real slop-bucket combos.

Made this hamburger steak last night… I did cut back the chuck to 1 lb (for two people) and adjusted the seasoning. But made the full compliment of gravy. Only change was adding some sliced portobello mushrooms to the gravy. Mashed potatoes and peas. Five star comfort food.
Being from Canada I'd love to see Kent do a series of videos for cooking in the Klondike. Feed some gold miners in Dawson City, Yukon. I love this man. I wish he was my dad.
Hello Kent and Shannon, I recently stumbled upon your culinary videos on UA-cam, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed and touched by the content you create. The love and passion you share through your cooking, coupled with the joy and positivity you bring to the screen, is truly heartwarming. I am writing to you from France, and I wanted to express how much pleasure it brings me to watch your videos. The connection and happiness you share are truly inspiring, and they resonate with me across the miles. Please continue sharing your wonderful journey and know that you have a fan in me, cheering you on from afar. Warm regards, Marc
You can never grow wrong with a good hamburger steak. It's delicious and very reasonable to make even in today's high cost of meat prices. One other thing it also feeds a lot of people. I've watched this video before but never commented and wanted to because it's such a delicious recipe.
i've just eaten (a bottle of wine and a really nice spaghetti bolgnese) but i got hungry again as soon as i read the title! i'm a 150, kent. you're gonna double me up at this rate! hamburger steak gravy and onion 😂😂😋
My daddy made that alot when I was a kid, and made beer bread to go with, sliced tomatoes and mashed potatoes and garden green beans 😊 then his peach cobbler for dessert, you remind me of him, he also wore cowboy boots 😊
I remember when I was a kid and I didn't like my foods to touch and my mom would serve it like your mom did... Corn and mashed potatoes in their different corners and milk gravy over everything (except the gravy on the potatoes had to stay in the hole in the middle... It wasn't the same if the gravy spilled over or leaked out the bottom.) Now I like it all mixed up... a little meat, veg and starch all in one bite. 💖🌞🌵😷
Hahaha! Love the car & the Fur Babies. Great video , too short for me. Love being wirh you Gies. Peace abounds.Ya'll are Awesome. Thanks for so much. 🐾🐾🤗
This is the classic👍. Sometimes instead of mashed potatoes, I'll bake em skin on, and then chop em up to rough 1/2" size, with the flavorful skins. Make extra gravy... chunky taters with gravy is a big hit. If making real mashers, a variation I like is to mix whole kernel corn into the mashed.. Gives it a bit of texture, and extra flavors to savor. Thank you for bringing this classic back👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've been in some parts of the country where they used tenderized meat (run through a tenderizing machine and looks like hamburger but is still connected... one piece of meat) although tasty, it can be difficult to eat... use ground beef instead, you'll get a better result. 💖🌞🌵😷

Made this hamburger steak last night… I did cut back the chuck to 1 lb (for two people) and adjusted the seasoning. But made the full compliment of gravy. Only change was adding some sliced portobello mushrooms to the gravy. Mashed potatoes and peas. Five star comfort food.
I have never made gravy that way, but I’m gonna have to give it a try. Thanks for the recipe and enjoyable video.
Hope you enjoy
Being from Canada I'd love to see Kent do a series of videos for cooking in the Klondike. Feed some gold miners in Dawson City, Yukon. I love this man. I wish he was my dad.
Perfect timing kent, been craving this for a hot minute

She should make him one that’d be sweet
She is the love of my life
You can never grow wrong with a good hamburger steak.
So good it is
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming please.
I’m old too 74 from south Texas living in playa del Carmen mexico
My daddy made that alot when I was a kid, and made beer bread to go with, sliced tomatoes and mashed potatoes and garden green beans 😊 then his peach cobbler for dessert, you remind me of him, he also wore cowboy boots 😊
Got to try this one too I tried a couple of your recipes and they are good thanks 👍👍
Glad that you have enjoyed
I just cooked your recipe. It's rancid with onions! We loved it.
My husband has informed me that I will be making this tomorrow! 😂 Thanks for sharing!

Why can’t he cook?
He is not the greatest cook. I'm a stay at home house wife and I love to cook! He works very hard.
Bless you Tracy! How did the meal turn out?
@@laurendamasoruiz It was Amazing!!!!! 🤗

Thanks Andrea so much
Nothing like making a meal that’ll take someone down memory lane. I bet Mr. Ed enjoyed every bite.
He did for sure
Did someone say hamburger steak? You got my attention Cowboy Kent!! 😋
Thank you for bringing this classic back👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Now your making me hungry
I've been in some parts of the country where they used tenderized meat (run through a tenderizing machine and looks like hamburger but is still connected... one piece of meat) although tasty, it can be difficult to eat... use ground beef instead, you'll get a better result. 💖🌞🌵😷
👍❤️ I must be an old soul, cause I love recipes like this. Praise the Lord!
I can honestly smell that cooking while I’m watching. Reminds me of childhood at my grandma’s house…guess what we’re having for dinner tomorrow!?
Hope everyone enjoys
Sorry that was me
Being a native Texan, this was one of my dad’s favorite meals when I was growing up!
I’m doing this but I’m going to put mushrooms in the gravy🙌
Ruined it!!!!
you can skip all the onions he chopped and just add a few sprinkes of french onion soup mix.
@@americafirst834Eeww, why would you want to ruin that gravy with overprocessed, salty junk food?
God bless you.
