Great Scott.Enjoy the journey. We're just back from 15 weeks in the Kimberley in a Cruiser set up very similar to yours.Didnt miss a beat.Look forward to following your travels. The orange hook is an ARB product and places the hold downs used to secure the car to the deck of the boat it arrived on.Very handy.
Great video. I love it when you guys explain more about the trucks you drive. I would be interested in all the electronics that you will be running. I downloaded the HEMA NA maps app and I am pretty impressed. You can't beat a Land Cruiser for dependability. Love it.
I'll be anxious to see the mapping of the Baja. I'll be doing a good bit of work there over the next few years and finding good, consistent mapping is a little sketchy right now. Civil Engineers love maps!
Nice! I often marvel at how little some of these vehicles are modified. My overland vehicle is an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and it's sitting on 35" BFG's with heavy duty 9" axles, ARB Air Lockers & Warn winches on both ends. It generally goes pretty much anywhere I point it. It's interesting to see how well your vehicles handle the terrain despite their relatively stock components.
welcome to Toyota Landcruiser.. so you too are trying to make your jeep cruiser like, to no avail. I attempted that impossible feat for nearly 15 years, then three years ago I finally "got" the "jeep thing", bought a '96 80 series, sold the rubi, and have never looked back, cause if I did look back I'd be banging my head at all the wasted time, effort and money in my futile attempt to transform my jeep into a Landcruiser..
rubicondon04 -- I'm well acquainted with Toyota's 4x4's. I've been driving them for years & have a particular affinity for the Tacoma. (Unfortunately the new one is pretty , ugly. It's a shame too; the previous model was beautiful!) For stock vehicles they are extremely capable, but without modifications they can't match a properly built-up off road vehicle regardless of the brand. I am impressed with how well these guys can drive them over some pretty tough terrain, but my Jeep -- or any other properly upgraded vehicle for that matter -- will still be rolling right along while they're pulling cable. I'm glad you like your Land Cruiser. They're nice rigs.
An aussie 4wd like that deserves to pull a Patriot X1LE camper trailer from Australia!! You should have also partnered up with Patriot Campers because so many people from the US want to see these campers over there. Great video and plan to watch your adventures! :)
Out of curiosity, a few years ago you compiled a list of the best used overlanders for N. A. How would that list have changed by now? Particularly interested in Toyota 4Runner's. Is the 5th gen a better choice than the 4th?
Such a tease to us in the US that do not have access to the Turbo Diesel Cruisers. Why would you even flaunt that to us? Just kidding, my envy is showing. lol. Thanks for the walk around.

Nice ride. I wish we had more diesel SUV options here in the US.

great stuff scott.
Okay, I'm getting a little ansty. When is the next Hema Maps video? I've been checking Hema Maps, Expedition Overland and Expedition Portal weekly!
Does the Toyota reverse camera still work with a rear tyre rack and bull bar?

at 2:32 you show an orange tow hook. Is that a bolt on product?
Rated recovery point - it is a bolt on product
I couldn't tell in the video.... are they excited or nah?

Scott why did you choose the Chaser over three Horizon?
Storage volume and accessibility to that storage area. The Horizon works better as a basecamp, while the chaser works better as a storage solution.
Sweet rig
what is the camera that you recording
Canon 5D Mark II
Says doesnt want hodge podge.. does arb in the front and then kaymar in the back..

Also, how did you skirt the emissions laws?
So if you've got about $180k Aus, than look no further, this bad boy is for you $$$$ 😂
