Nice work Ronny - great video!!! Missed the bit about water & fuel capacity....but that's all we missed. Fuel - 93L factory tank + 180L Long Range Tank + 40L in Jerry Cans = 313L capacity which is about 2200km. Water - 55L Bladder between rear seat & cargo barrier + 20L Jerry can behind fridge = 75L which lasts us 2 weeks being conservative. Since the video, I've done my battery upgrade, catch can & intake clean.....getting ready for power increase next.
Hey Ronny, Thanks for your great videos. Really helpfull for somebody starting Off roading in Australia. We have a Pajero nm series (manual petrol with 300k kms) with: Barwork - No bullbar; no sidesteps, no rear bar; no underbody protection Lights and coms - stock, no coms other than a couple of hand radios Tyres and suspension - KONI shocks with 2' lift lovel springs under the hood - "powerful" 3.5 petrol NA no dual battery no engine tune. The rear - takes everything we need (no fridge, no drawers, no etc...) Interior mods - none We just added a Rihno pioneer rack with roof top tent and jerry can holder for extra fuel. However with a bit of creativity we travelled more than 25000 km in the last couple of trips. e.g. Tanami, Gibb river rd, savannah way, twilight cove, balladonia to esperance (off road) Maybe one day you could make a video with a vehichle that has a different approach to adventure travelling. Equiped with just the bare essentials. You were my reference when preparing for big road trips. Great work, Thank you very much
Should do another modified 200 series Rony (not a chop either) heaps of new builds local mate. Would be keep to see a recent model with all the fruit but still legal
I'm running Kumho MT51's of the same size on my 2004 L200. They're great on lighter mud (3-5 inch depth). Looking forward to giving them a go in the winter but I can vouch for them so far!
This popped up in my feed and I thought it was a recent video. I soon noticed this was the guy who documented the dusted engine and was surprised to think he mustn't have done anything to improve his airbox second time around... but no, realised this is 5 years old! Still worth watching though.
Im kinda looking at a 200 to replace my 80 right now. I kinda like they they aren't the obvious choice, plus the 5.7 we get in the states is a great motor.
As a 200 owner it's a hell of a rig, the 5.7 is fantastic, though I would love that 4.5L. Head over to ih8mud.com. Tons of knowledgeable guys in the 200 section to answer your questions.
It is possible to purchase one and I am sure the price would be extremely high as the 1HD are around $10k here, but more importantly it would be impossible to register and use the car on public roads.
Smashing vehicle, with some great mods. One question though - I notice this vehicle in particular, but also the others carry a lot of gear internally in the boot space and back seat. Would this not present a danger to the front seat occupants in the case of a motorway collision? Is there a bulkhead in the back? Is the gear secure ?
12kerryman - I've got a cargo barrier between backseat & cargo area which protects me from all that, the green box on my backseat is strapped to the seatback & the only other stuff in the backseat is bedding & clothes. I feel safe when it's all packed in.
Hey Ronny, i am new to the channel and are really enjoying your videos and learning quiet a lot, im also new to the whole 4x4 scene so detailed videos like this are great! Some people might cringe to the idea but how about a video like this based on a Holden Jackaroo preferably a 1992+ i notice your in Weston Australia but i know someone in Victoria you might be able to interview with a Jackaroo that isn't really a Jackaroo anymore with tonnes of custom parts etc. depending on how far you will travel. Other then that i would love to watch a video like this of any Jackaroo you can find really -Tyler
I know there are some modded Grand Cherokees buzzing around in the outback, any chance of featuring one of those in a future episode? Great series, BTW, looking forward to the Unimog one.
Great setup, gives me a headache trying to keep up with what is what. I don't think i would ever add that amount of tech to my wagon. I would be waiting with dread for it all to go wrong.
26:18 TIL you can't go off road without a chemical toilet in Australia. It blows my mind it was so frequent of an occurrence, that a rule had to be made.
I have a new 2017 land cruiser and I take it out camping for half days ... its pretty much factory stock. I would love to do some over-landing and camping over the whole weekend, but I am not sure about how you manage to live life with a heavily modified car like this one. I mean I dont think I can pull up to the office, or go to a fancy business dinner something like that ... Please do enlighten how do you transform that back to an everyday car. The LC is expensive and I cannot have another car for Sunday-Thursday and take out the LC for weekend fun
I drive it to work everyday like you see it, sure that means its slightly less fuel efficient, but I leave the draws in and packed, fridge running and tent ontop. All I have to do for a weekend is pack food, clothes, bedding & camera gear. I rock up to work & go to parties in it, if people see it and ask me about it, I treat it as a conversation starter. If you enjoy camping and 4wding then your proud to share your experiences and stories with others. Kind Regards - Graham (Owner)
bit of advise. I would swap my pantry draw with the tool draw, How do you like having to move the fridge back in when you need to get some gas or beans?
hey Ronny. for my 75 series would you say 33's are big enough or is it worth the thousands in lift kit ans such to get 35's. do you find they make a necessary difference or could you happily live without them??
Hey Ronny, you got a Prado 120 lined up by any chance? Gonna be my next purchase. Over here in the states we only have the GX470, but I want to see how the Aussies get their Prados done up to give me ideas.
In Oz we now have the 150 series Prado and are very popular . 4.0Litre V6 or 3.0 litre turbo diesel . But let Ronny tell you more as I have a USA imported 2015 Toyota 4runner
great job again Ronny, here in the states we have a lot of full size trucks. is there any chance you could do an episode on a F250/F350 or a ford Excursion ? do they even have the Excursion out there? thanks
It would be interesting to see one but I have never seen those modified and used off road. USA imports are very expensive and those trucks I have only seen used for heavy towing and the only Excursion I have seen was a stretch limo party bus. There are a few older F100s getting around though, surely someone has modified one for off roading.
a2zoffroad ok in australia we do have excursions stock though and ford f trucks mainly get used as work vechile for rich people becaise they are the same orice as a super car some have lifted and muddies but not many
just the opposite over here, most landcruisers and land rovers never leave the pavement. they are for rich people, the rest of us do use our f250/350's for camping , hunting, pulling trailers with atv/dirt bikes, and off roading. I myself have an excursion with 37" tires that just loves the sand dunes. Is it true that your toilet water rotates the opposite direction when you flush in Australia also? ;D
a2zoffroad no xd yeah australia a old f150that would be like 8 thousand for you would be about 60 for us so richer people that put them as family cars and road ponys or use them as work advertising trucks
Toffy - Lots of info available on the web, nothing major like extra wear etc, couple little quirks like it'll shudder in very low rpm situations (like a manual will just before it stall). But honestly - Best value for money upgrade I've done to the 200!!!
NIGHT VIEW 2015 - Sadly not....it's one of the best IFS front ends going though, certainly the most flex I've seen from an IFS (having owned & driven with Rangers, Hiluxes, D3's, etc etc).
@@great_offroad_adventures hey does the 200 series have any lockers? Or is it just an AWD system with A TRAC? If it's just ATRAC how does it compare to having lockers? Just as good?
JK - It’s got a centre diff lock to go from full time AWD to 4WD, which then gives it equal drive to front and rear axles & then all the rest is done with traction control (A-Trac).....I’ve previously had a vehicle with lockers & to date I haven’t yet found the need to put lockers into the 200, it’s a pretty capable setup as is.
elltie - Sorry mate we did miss the fuel capacity. It's got 93L factory tank + 180L aux tank + 40L in Jerry cans = 313L Also carry 75L water (55L in a water bladder between my back seat & cargo barrier & 20L in a jerry behind my fridge.

This vs Troopy. Comfort vs storage

Great Off-Road Adventures - Graham Reinders
How did you go with the power increase? Big difference? Better ecobomy?
How did the power increase go ?
So the air box mod in video clearly did not work then....
Sometimes when i just look at a car I know it will drive well, the 200 series Landcruiser is certainly one of them !
Wicked. This is a great tourer as well. Would love to see more 100 and 200 tourers.

Great video Ronny and an impressive rig you've got there Graham. It's definitely a very well thought out set up.
Cheers guys - few little tweaks left and will be ready for any trip, big or small, long or short.

I agree about the stay out of the mud I leave that to my children now an try preserve my bearings awesome truck the 200 well put together
morning bog with a new Modified is always a pleasure. Nearly at the 100k subscriber mark Ronny!

Greetings from Slovenia 🇸🇮
I know I just commented but this car is a dream... I love it!
Pro tip of the day. You need to have the solar panel cleaned!
@ronny dahl, in future could you possibly start the car and give it a few revs to get a perspective on how the exhaust and vehicle sounds, thanks
Jackson Saunders - Link to my channel is in the description....somewhere in my videos you'll find some noise from the 200 👍🏻.

Patrick Rich is it possible to purchase the Aussie spec diesel crate engine in the states for a conversion?

Ronny! You should do a review on Wayne's cruiser!
Show us how simple and practical he has his set up! Cheers
and the exact year i wanted to see too. much appreciated!

my god this is bloody awesome!!!!
Great Review, very relevant for a lot of people
Ronny mate you gotta do a Unimog soon
Fukn oath mate. We need dis!!
one is coming
Absolutely amazing Ronny, cant wait to see it
Unimog's are good for a few days, they get very tedious very quickly, slow and very limiting in the places you can go.
Jack Montgomery fight me
This channel should have way more subs, keep up the good work Ronny!
I always learn a lot from you. Keep up the good work and informative videos.
Sound quality went way up on this one Ronny. Great stuff as always mate.
Amazing Rig!
Each and Every Video I enjoy...
Another great video Ronny
Another great walk around.
TJM bullbar looks sick on the 200, I like it more than the ARB one.
And solid - I'd happily replace mine with another TJM (if ever required).
I wish our LC in the US had that engine. Nice truck.
ronny ur a legend for doing this one next up prado 150 :D
Getting close to the 100K subscribers! good stuff
Ronny!! Need to do a 150 series prado 👍🏻🍺
+Scott Willmann got one lined up just need to set a shoot date
Totally agree.
Ronny Dahl Hello Ronny, How much for the rig and all the mods do ya reckon she cost mate ?
Love this car! Hopefully you can find a guy with a Ford Everest!
Thanks
good tip about dust in air-boxes..
Yep - don't want to go dusting turbos or engines.
Hey Ronny, reckon you'd be able to show off another Jimny? They seem like a really appealing first car!
My dream car!! Awesome vehicle 👍🏼
Hey Ronny reckon you could cover the older model of either the ranger or BT50 be awesome to see what someone have done to one. Cheers

i have a 200 series for touring and a fully sick Ls2 80 series for some serious 4 wheel driving
Yep - I can't beat my 200 for touring, looking forward to some more trips!!!
Thanks Mate...
Seems a bit ott, and I love it.
How I wish I was knowledgeable of all this :( especially since I plan to go off roading in Utah and around there

Nice rig and awesome work as always Ronny. It would be good to see more 4.2 Patrols :)
Super detail

Too many bling computers / electronics to go BING when out in the bush.

hi ronny this is a such a nice modified car thank you for that, and maybe we sometime take some trips you know what I mean.

What was said around 21:45 ? Was it a watercooled ladder or what, sorry watching on my phone and can't find subtitles.
Mick Wolf he was asking if he was going to get a water cooled alternator later (not ladder)

any particular downsides to a Torque Converter Lock up kit? Like extra transmission wear or anything like that? Cheers

Would you be able to get a Iveco Daily 4x4 in this series by any chance Ronnie?
I'm actually looking for one now but so far no luck.
ronny we need to see more hilux
Hey Ronny! Love the modified videos, any luck on getting a dmax on it?
still looking had a few lined up but they are stalling due to more mods going on
Awesome!!! Can't wait
You usually show the number plates on your jeeps?
Hey Ronny, got a prado 120 lined up? I need some ideas for mine :)
I wish I could could get these in the us
This is my dream car
Hey Ronny would you be able to do a review of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Cheers Luke
What's the range on this thing? I don't have time to watch the entire video now.
Cheers
Very impressive, Looks tough..
Do they make a these with solid front axle ?

elltie - Sorry mate we did miss the fuel capacity.
It's got 93L factory tank + 180L aux tank + 40L in Jerry cans = 313L
Also carry 75L water (55L in a water bladder between my back seat & cargo barrier & 20L in a jerry behind my fridge.

bruce 130013 - With it fully loaded and all the gear on the roof it's somewhere between 14-15L/100km.....which gives me 2000km range on the highway, add some 4x4ing in I can safely work on atleast 1500km from every tank, regardless of condition.

Graham Reinders thats pretty good i get about 3800km on a tank in my 300tdi defender
bruce 130013 - Wow - How big is the tank in your Defender then?
Hey Ronny love the vids could you possibly do a hilux surf/ 4 runner
awesome videos, can you do a modified episode with a ford courier?
I think the US 4runner looks to be a more serious off road vehicle. This 200 is closer to a Lexus version of the US 4runner
4Runner for going offroad and Land Cruiser for going home again 👍
Unimog please Ronny!
Within the next 2 episodes ;)
That's so exciting!
Any experience with the 4.7 V8 petrol version?
that thkngs awesome
American here, so bare with me...What's the difference between "touring" and "overlanding/expedition?" I understand rock crawling, mudding, general USA type off roading, but would like to know how the Aussies define the differences.
Freedom Rider - nothing really. Touring is more of an Australian term.
I was informed that you cant fit bigger tyres on the 200 series as the ECU cant be programmed for the bigger tyres- that was from a toyota salesman at a Toyota dealership.
Steinwaygrande .2 inches bigger mainly all you can do
Amazing the crap car salesmen tell you. Bu thank you for the information I`ll bare it in mind.
Greetings from the US, love the videos, would like to see more Nissan Navarra (Frontier) builds.
Don't those bars obstruct the indicators on the headlamp units?
Yes, that is why the bullbar has built in indicators.
Do you have one for a 60 series cruiser ?
Interesting.
what about a newer type of 4wd on the market like a VW Amarok?
Please do a Holden RC Colorado
