Thank you so much, this is delicious! I appreciate you pointing out that traditional is better way to describe dishes than "authentic", which is hard to define. I think people sometimes imply that dishes that are not "authentic" are not good or worth eating. It is nice to see you highlight the history of orange chicken.

so basically the Chinese Americans came up with the dish and since then has become a nation wide to international favorite around the world, yes it isn't exactly from china but it does incorporate tastes from both sides so a proper u.s/Chinese fusion of taste and ideas make the best results

Thank you for another wonderful recipe. Instead of fresh oranges, I use orange juice and Korean citron jam. Korean citron jam makes the orange flavor stronger and more complex with its slightly bitter peel in it. Since 50% of the citron jam is sugar, you will need to adjust the sugar quantity in the recipe accordingly. Korean citron jam is wonderful for making sweet tea, hot or cold. You won't find a jar of Korean citron jam wasted.

I just want to say that your channel is very close to my heart as I'm very similar to you - my family's roots are Toisan, we are Sai Yup ppl and my grandparents are like your dad who speaks canto with that saiyup twang. I love it, so familiar. My grandparents ended up in Singapore so we've established ourselves here now. But it's so fascinating that the Chinese diaspora has split our roots and scattered it to far flung places around the world (I've met similar ppl from Australia, Canada, Uk, EU. etc) and amazing youtube has made this connection possible.
The dishes he makes are all classics in my world too, and man, can he cook! I'm learning so much from your channel, I'm so glad there's a channel that is not from mainland china as you will have english narration. And then your dad's canto just solidifies the recipe. And so heartwarming to see he's imparting all these to you and us. What a gem!
Pls say hi to your folks for me and also to Hong Doy! :P. - Norm from Singapore
