The way your dad teaches with reasons behind the action, this is the way I was taught to cook from an early age by my mother. When you know the reasons why something is done, you never forget the process. Yet another superb contribution. Thank you family Lau!

The god tier precision with which your dad cuts the chicken into even pieces is a new level of goals for me as a home cook. So appreciative your dad shared with us his recipe for one of my top 5 all time favorite chicken dishes. Not even top 5 Chinese-American, but top 5 period. Thank you for this.
Thank you so much, this is delicious! I appreciate you pointing out that traditional is better way to describe dishes than "authentic", which is hard to define. I think people sometimes imply that dishes that are not "authentic" are not good or worth eating. It is nice to see you highlight the history of orange chicken.
Just watching your dad cook, listening to his explanations, it's clear he has perfected his cooking craft to a very high degree, and I'm extremely grateful that his instruction is so thorough, on every single step.
I have never in my life seen a recipe to make the chicken the way yall do and i have been searching for so so long. I almost cried watching this video because my journey is now over. thank you, and thank your wonderful dad for sharing these secrets with us.
The thing that really separates dads information dn recipe from everyone else.. That he explains why! Sucha s why the 3:1 ratio of flower to corn starch, flavor from more or less sugar or vinegar, etc. Great Video, thanks so much for sharing and taking the time!!
Amazing! I used to work at Panda Express. The breaded chicken comes in frozen like any chicken nuggets. However the sauce are made from scratch in the backroom with orange extract.
You can genuinely see how much your dad loves teaching and how much he loves what he does. We must protect this man at all cost. I can't wait to try his recipes 🤤
The presentation of this video is exceptional. So much information supplemented by questions about ingredient subs and common struggles in recipes. Phenomenal work!
Thank you for going in depth with how to make Chinese dishes (ex. sweet vs. tart flavor variations) It really helps understand how to make the dish better! Also your Dad is great to watch (except it makes me hungry!!) and is adorable in how thorough he is in sharing his knowledge with us.
so basically the Chinese Americans came up with the dish and since then has become a nation wide to international favorite around the world, yes it isn't exactly from china but it does incorporate tastes from both sides so a proper u.s/Chinese fusion of taste and ideas make the best results
I love watching your videos bro. I get a lot from watching your dad teach ways of cooking popular dishes. I love the fact that he seems excited to spread the knowledge
I'm half Chinese and half Caucasian, I was never taught how to speak Cantonese but I understand fairly well. I really love this channel because of your dad's passion in cooking. It reminds me of watching my grandma cook my Favourite classic dishes for me when I was younger and helps me feel more connected to my Asian heritage. Thank you!

Thank you for the recipe and the history. This video was just awesome. I just finished making this for my family. I am glad that everyone liked it. My house is soooooo picky when it comes to food...lol I wonder if there is recipe for sesame chicken. That is my son's favorite dish.
Thank you for another wonderful recipe. Instead of fresh oranges, I use orange juice and Korean citron jam. Korean citron jam makes the orange flavor stronger and more complex with its slightly bitter peel in it. Since 50% of the citron jam is sugar, you will need to adjust the sugar quantity in the recipe accordingly. Korean citron jam is wonderful for making sweet tea, hot or cold. You won't find a jar of Korean citron jam wasted.
Really love Daddy Lau's recipes. My parents also used to own Chinese food restaurant. Grew up eating all these delicious foods. We emigrated from HK in the 80s and love to hear old school Cantonese, instead of the current lazy tone Cantonese...
